4.0 out of 5 stars.  He seems to like it, and it explains stuff and shows pictures, February 15, 2015
By Rosie
We got this for my 3.5 year old who needs to get a filling. The book is OK. He seems to like it, and it explains stuff and shows pictures. However, I think the Dora book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0689871694/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is much better, at least for his age, even though he's only seen Dora videos a couple of times. The content of the 2 books is similar, but This book uses more complex sentences, doesn't engage the kid as much, has less engaging pictures.

Bought with the Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist as a precursor to our first dental appointment. This book is really good.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good book, wish they skipped the shot and drill part, February 27, 2014
By I.S. (Chicago)
This book is really good for preparing a toddler for a first dentist visit, but wish they'd skipped the shot and drill part. Still, it seems to have really helped my daughter get ready for her first visit.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  To: Anne Civardi - American Dental Hygiene Association - Complaint, January 18, 2014
By Donna Browning
Complaint: Dear Anne, I'm very disappointed that you do not know the difference between a Dental Hygienist and a Dental Assistant. In your book "Usborne first Experience Going to the Dentist", you are teaching children the wrong description of a Dental Hygienist. We Registered Dental Hygienist examine patients for oral cancer, review and educate systemic disorders and disease, evaluate present restorative teeth, prophy (clean teeth), teach and educate many topics/subjects to children and adults. The Dentist will complete his/her exam concurring with our findings. The Dentist will do restorative procedures with the assist of a Dental Assistant NOT a Dental Hygienist as you have indicated in your book. PLEASE YOU NEED TO CORRECT YOUR LARGE MISTAKE!! You have published FALSE AND INACCURATE documentation as a learning tool. Your book is on it's way to the American Dental Hygiene Association for ramifications.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Helpful prep for a little one's first dentist visit, January 12, 2014
By Meg
We read this to our three year old during the week before his fist visit to the dentist (skipping over the pages about having a cavity filled). It really helped him to get accustomed to the idea and to know what to expect. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  OK, but misses some points, February 21, 2012
By A Customer
The book is very factual giving room for parents to address their child(ren)'s fears. It does miss 2 important things that our toddler struggles with i.e. taking x-rays and dealing with the goopy floride gel at the end of the exam.
