This has been a great product for my husband, who has a sleep apnea machine that makes his mouth extremely dry. He uses it religiously and it works great for him. He tried "store brands" and generic products, none works as well as this one.

I had never used Biotene before, but decided to try it after someone recommended it and I saw several commercials. I'm on multiple medications and two of them have "dry mouth" listed as side effects. I had no idea that dry mouth causes big problems until I went from having 0 cavities to having 19 in six months, even with proper brushing and flossing. My dentist and hygienist surmised it was the dry mouth from medication I had started in that time. I wish someone told me that could happen before. My dentist suggested using baking soda to rinse my mouth to help with the dry mouth. Baking soda does work, but it doesn't last very long and I absolutely hate the taste. So, I decided to try the Biotene. I read reviews saying that the ingredients have changed and that some people who have used it in the past hated it and some people who had never used it before did like it. Since I've never used it before and had nothing to compare it to, I tried it. I read that it has a bad taste. Yes, the taste is pretty bad; but, in my opinion, not as bad as the baking soda. I read that it makes your mouth go numb or burn. Yes, definitely; it makes my entire mouth burn and then it goes numb. Finally, I read that it doesn't work. Yes, that is also correct. I have not found that Biotene (at least the new formula, I have never tried the old formula) works. After the burning and the numbness wear off, my mouth is still dry. Sometimes, it feels slightly less dry for about an hour; but then it goes right back to being just as dry as it was before using it. I DO NOT recommend this. It doesn't work, and it's definitely not worth the bad taste, burning and numbness. Baking soda tastes even worse to me, but it works better for dry mouth.
