I've had this shredder for about 9 months now and thought this would be a great time to post a review. It's not loud, but I wouldn't say it's "silent" or "ultra-quiet" either, as I've seem some reviewers post. It does allow you you to work, without much disturbance, while it's being operated. I've heard electric pencil sharpeners that give off the same decibels as this shredder :) It does shred quickly, and the SafeSense technology's functionality is well built. This is great if you have pets or small children who love to crawl onto or use objects to pull themselves up. The SafeSense technology would prevent the shredder from running if their fingers or paws, are too close to the insert/opening. Overall, great quality and has consistent performance.

I wanted to buy a quality shredder for light use in my home office, so I purchased this shredder. It broke in under six months (the bin probably has only been emptied maybe six times total and the unit was oiled at least twice in that time). Now the shredder just makes a 'whirrrr' sound and does not move the blades at all.

I just love this shredder. It runs so quiet. I have put a garbage bag in the bin and it makes emptying much easier. I bought the oil recommended to put on after every time you empty the bin to keep the blades cutting well.

 It's a good, quiet shredder, November 16, 2015

I got this to replace a shredder that sadly was left behind when I moved that was everything I wanted in a shredder. You can read the reviews here about this model. It's a good, quiet shredder. But the lack of a filled to capacity warning is really an annoyance. The first time I was over I had shreds all over. As someone said here, the window in the front doesn't go all the way up so it's useless. I was more cautious the second load but still ended up with shreds on my floor. I've taken a star away because of this.
