As an elementary school librarian, I've read gobs of books to classes over the years and, as a rule of thumb, the most captivating stories are also the most fun to read aloud. Despite all the glowing reviews, Sweet Tooth fails to satisfy my criteria for a worthwhile read-aloud book. In this particular instance, Palatini's lack of succinctness warrants 2 stars(and that's generous). For comparison, The Boy Who Looked Like Lincoln(Mike Reiss & David Catrow) exemplifies a read-aloud masterpiece that ideally suited for a third grade audience.

I loved dramatizing the story as I read it aloud to my 4&6 year old grandsons. They reacted with joy and learned a lesson about their teeth. Oldest wants to share book with his kindergarten class.

Sweet Tooth Review by Grace Montgomery Book by Margie Palatini
Have you ever not been in control? Well Stewart has. He hasn't been in control over sweets because he has a sweet tooth. But it's no ordinary sweet tooth. This tooth talks and is incredibly rude. The tooth interferes with everything. First a wedding, then school! Read this book to find out what happens next in... Sweet Tooth!
The lesson I learned in this book is that you are able to take control when things get hard.
I would recommend this book to people who need to learn they can take control.
My opinion on this book is that: it's fun to read, and it has funny parts, I think you will enjoy Sweet Tooth!
