Product Description:

Baby sign language has quickly become a national phenomenon garnering significant attention in the media and among child health experts. Simply put, baby sign language provides a way for parents to communicate with their hearing babies before they can speak. By teaching infants a few basic gestures or signs, parents are able to bridge the gap between the gurgling stage and the time when babies are actually able to talk.

This easy-to-follow book illustrates 150 of the most common and useful signs. Signing with your baby not only results in a happier and less frustrated child but, research shows, one who will speak earlier and have a higher IQ.

*150 of the most popular signs
*An express program for quicker results
*Games and activities to make signing more fun

5 out of 5 stars.  The Complete Idiot's Guide to Baby Sign Language, July 5, 2010
I have looked over the book myself (did not have time to read it completely) and was very well pleased with it. I have 2 nieces who have babies, one of whom has a DVD with baby sign language. So, I sent a copy to each one and am waiting for a report regarding how well it is working. One baby is only a month and a half old, so I don't expect to hear too soon. The other baby is 9 months old, and I am sure that he is already learning his first signs. Thank you for a wonderful product.

4 out of 5 stars.  Easy to read, September 14, 2009
I liked the simple approach this book has because we don't plan on teaching our baby more then a few of the important signs (Milk, Diaper, Pain, More, Tired ect.). It includes a "crash course" option which I feel would only work for stay at home moms because it involves an intensive 2 weeks of introducing the signs to your baby. We are going to use the longer process because our child is in daycare. My concern is whether it will be effective because you need everyone to participate in teaching the baby the signs while they go through their normal activities. I will have to teach it to the caregivers and hope that they use the signs throughout the day. Overall a good tool for understanding the process.

5 out of 5 stars.  A MUST HAVE for any parent!!!, June 17, 2009
Don't let the "Idiots" moniker fool you...this book is amazing! A PERFECT baby shower or new baby gift, and it's not just fluff -- it works! Where else can you spend so little and get so much. A must read and an even better value compared to the other, more expensive books that are just boring and not as effective. Your kids will thank you, even by signing!! :)

2 out of 5 stars.  Good as a gift., May 5, 2009
Overall, I was rather disappointed with this book. I'd definitely recommend something by Joseph Garcia (like this or others: Sign with your Baby - Baby Sign Language (ASL) Kit: Includes Book, How-to DVD, Quick Reference Guide). This book references his work and he does a better job, I thought, of teaching the signs and the how and when.

On the other hand, this book is good to give to someone who hasn't already decided to sign, the first third of the book is devoted to convincing you that signs are good. So, if you're looking for a baby shower gift -- if the mother or father is on the fence or hasn't considered it -- this book would work well for that.

5 out of 5 stars.  Good, easy to follow book, April 10, 2009
True to idiots guide fashion, this book is incredibly easy to read and navigate. After this book, the other baby sign books were a waste of time. More information and less complicated.
