5 out of 5 stars.  THIS IS A MUST HAVE GUIDE, August 18, 2010
Truly a must have, but more, a MUST READ guide to prepare for the future. Nothing left to chance. Better to prepare for the worst than to be caught on a road to nowhere with thousands of others.

4 out of 5 stars.  Good All Around, August 11, 2010
So far this is the best "survivalist guide" the author doesn't paint the typical doom and gloom "Aliens are coming and we must run for the hills and fight off their army of Zombies". He draws on realism. He supplies pragmatic advise that helps whether TSHTF or not.
If TSHTF I am sure some of his advise will be helpful. What I found, however, is his advise is useful without doomsday. Times are tough, the economy may stagnant for years to come, he offers some practically advise on trimming the expenses, planning for shortages etc. Well worth the read and the mulla.

5 out of 5 stars.  Practical Advice for Possible Hard Times, August 10, 2010
This book gives a very scary scenario for what might happen in America if the economy crashes and burns. But, it gives some very practical advice on how to be prepared for such times and many of them are things that are simple and easy to do now. Even if the scary scenario never happens, the suggestions would be such that they would help in cases of natural disasters and other emergency situations. I highly recommend this book to all.

1 out of 5 stars.  Pseudo-informative, June 29, 2010
I grew up in a small town in northern Utah where we Mormons maintain a 2-years supply of food and water for every person in the household. This book was rather counter-productive with regard to surviving bad times. I'm a good 'survivalist' and can hunt and fish and garden etc and thought that this book would have at least some useful tips, i was wrong. I considered it superficial and non-contributory to helping solve the basic problems. I don't know of any better books but consider this one worthless.

5 out of 5 stars.  The right book for our times, June 19, 2010
Sean Broderick's book may be the most radical investing book you'll ever read - and the most important. The "Ultimate Suburban Survivalist Guide" goes where most personal finance books fear to tread, by taking a hard look at the realities facing us: terrorism, peak oil, economic turmoil and the resultant social turmoil.

Perhaps you're already one of those who has the unsettling sense that all is not right with the world, but aren't sure how to prepare for turbulent times. If so, the "Survivalist Guide" offers a wealth of ideas and resources in a breezy, easy-to-read style that cuts right to the chase and won't waste your time. And if you've been living under the illusion that the federal government and your 401K are all your need for your future security, this book could not only change your thinking, it could save your life.

I've long been a believer that real wealth is much more than money in the bank and gold coins stashed safely away someplace. Real wealth means having the tools and knowledge to be as self-reliant and self-sufficient as possible. Protecting your hard assets from inflation or depression is a key part of this book - but it goes much further than that. The "Survivalist Guide" is a must for every family's emergency preparedness.
