Product Description:

This definitive book presents the medical and surgical aspects of periodontics in full color, organized to coincide with topics in the AAP's Vision 2020 Objectives. It offers strong theory and concepts, as well as highly instructive clinical practice applications. The hallmark of this book is that it directs dental diagnosis and treatment toward controlling infection and establishing an oral environment that is conducive to the overall health and well-being of the patient. Interrelationships between oral and systemic health are emphasized throughout, and advanced technologies and techniques such as oral, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and dental implant surgery are key components.

5 out of 5 stars.  Phenomenal photos, May 6, 2008
I bought this book to supplement hands on trainings in periodontal surgery.
More than half of the pages contain beautiful photographs, color pictures, and diagrams with easy to follow and extensive explanations.
It covers everything from cellular development to implants.
This book is by far one of the best clinical guides written about the periodontium and periodontal surgery.

5 out of 5 stars.  A must-have textbook, September 2, 2004
This textbook, written and edited by the field's leading experts, has been needed for quite a while. It includes all the necessary information that any perio text should have---chapters on etiology, prognosis, treatment, etc---but goes above and beyond. With chapters covering complex suture techniques, systemic disease links, microsurgery, implants, medically-compromised pts, conscious sedation, and surgical principles, this text is the first truly comprehensive lesson in periodontics. The high-quality color photos set the bar high for future textbooks on the subject, and it belongs in the library of not only residents but accomplished clinicians.
