| The book to purchase to learn Pathology, February 20, 2010 |

This is the book to purchase while studying pathology during medical school. It explains pathological concepts,and related topics such as embryology and biochemistry) in a detailed manner. At the same time this book manages to be concise enough so that you can read while completing other course work during medical school. Having on-line access to this book on Student Consult is convenient so that you do not have to carry the book around with you all the time. I recommend this book over the larger version of this book for the average medical student.

Personally, I was hoping for a book that is brief but will cover all the important aspect of pathology. Somthing between a review book and a full textbook. However, this book is very long in some areas but miss out on many other parts. So it is incomprehensive. I still need to look up a lot of information, yet many sections are too long and too detailed that slow down the study process.

Robbins' is a quality text, though it can be a bit dense at times. It also tends to go into more detail than my courses require, especially with things like oncogenic pathways.
But all-in-all, informative and illustrative.

This is a moderate level book that in general was not useful to me. It has many discussion that one considers as feedback of data without any puprose. The discussion leads you astray and there is no way to understand the subject by just reading this book. It reproduces materials that I saw in other books of pathology. The style of writing is not user friendly and one cannot really learn by just reading this book. It has many biologic data which are useless to the understanding of the subject. In general I did not benefit from reading this book as it is all a reproduced material from other books and so I cannot recommend it for other readers. You should seek other book if you want to study pathology.
