2.0 out of 5 stars.  Special Education Study Guide?, March 26, 2012
By Jason A. Wilson (S.A., Texas, USA)
Firstly, I bought this book several weeks before I was scheduled for my test so I was already kinda behind the eight ball as far as time to study so...I ordered it off of a "rent a college textbook" website. I ordered overnight delivery and after FIVE days I contacted the company and they told me, oh yeah! We forgot to tell you that we don't have that book sorry; we will refund your money..........WTH! So I ordered it on this website and thankfully got it in the time specified by the delivery company. Morale of the story, steer clear of "rent" a book stores, cheap but not worth it!
Now about the book itself, this book really is TERRIBLE! There are over 500 typos at least! There are literally 3-5 per page on nearly every page. Its as if the company opted out of the entire edit and revision phase of making the book. In addition there are practice question that are meant to help the one using the book that actually have WRONG answers or NO CORRECT ANSWER as a choice. There are a number of passages that are EXACLTY the same as another entire passage in the book. They copy and pasted several pages from one section and applied them to other sections without bothering to change a single word! There are so many grammatical errors, misspelled words and misinformation in the book I started to wonder if the book wasn't written BY people with learning disabilities rather than for someone studying to help teach them.
With so many errors I question the accuracy of the information in the book. I am scared that after using this book to study that I actually have NO chance of passing the exam. I really have no way of knowing if the information in the book is even accurate other than to buy another book from another company or spend hours online navigating through the internet (which is why I bought a book in the first place, to aviod doing just that).
If I were to go through this whole process again, I would DEFINITLY look for another company to order my book from.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  TeXes SpEd ec-12, June 23, 2011
By Red (Midland,TX, USA, 79704)
This is a great book for anyone wanting to be TX certified in this area. The content is easy to follow and is very informative. I would strongly recommend having prior certifications before trying to take this exam/read the book because so much of the info can be referenced by other certifications/teaching areas. For example, it is beneficial to know about the teaching field in general before getting this book so that you can make study notes along side the books content. There are also some typos in my copy of the book and only 1 of the study questions in the back did not match the competency it stated. I have used this type of book for my other 2 certification areas and have passes both times!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not study material, April 13, 2011
By jbqueen
This book had a lot of typos in it. Some of the questions were not even finished; they were left dangling in mid sentence. Some of the 'references to certain skills did not match'. I would not recommend it for a good study guide.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  typos detract from meaning, October 7, 2010
By MD (PLAINFIELD, NJ United States)
I purchased this book when I was transferring licenses from another state to Texas. I was astounded by the number and types of errors. I even used one paragraph with a student as an example of a flawed paragraph. Sentences just stop, paragraphs merge, and incorrect word forms are used ("aid" for "aide" for example). I couldn't make heads nor tails of one practice test question.

I thought I had bought a draft copy by mistake, but now it seems this was the form they released. I see this same brand's guides for other subjects in the book store, and I"m shocked that people apparently trust it. Maybe the other subject books are better, but I'll make sure not to buy another one from Xam. Just stunning.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great condition and arrived fast, September 28, 2011
By Carol (Austin, TX)
This book was very useful in studying for the Special Education exam. It might have some type-o's but nothing major. It is easy to read and great for note taking and studying. I have used this company before and passed the exam on the first try. I would recommend double checking the ansewr key to the practice test on back. Every test booklet I have purchased for these TExES exams has had at least one wrong answer and usually its easy to pick out.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bad Product!, April 5, 2012
By BullDozer
I got three pages into this book and already found numerous typos. I am highly disappointed in this waste of money, and will be buying a different study guide ASAP. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT! I would rate it 0 stars if it were possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Whole paragraphs duplicated, February 29, 2012
By Tag
Not only typos, but words missing in sentences that even a LEP like me could notice at a first glance. Didn't the author revise it? Or somebody else? The practice exam had questions that you could not answer with the information given. Same information was given once and again without going any further, which makes it a waste of valuable study time. The headlines described one thing and the paragraphs below would go in circles without making sense, like some politicians. I took another practice test after studying this entire book, and completely flunk it. This company should be ashamed of this product.
