The pin attaches to the lock so it can't be removed without one of the two included keys. Fitting 2-inch square receiver tubes, the lock is protected from the elements by Master Lock's Weather Tough seal for years of reliable trailer security. A stainless steel body and solid brass cylinder core resist corrosion for smooth operation and optimal security. And, an attached, plastic lock cover keeps moisture and road debris out of the keyhole for added protection. This Class III/IV lock also features a precision pin tumbler mechanism that resists picking. The unit accepts K1 key blanks for making additional keys. --Brian D. Olson

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Master Lock 375DAT Snap on Receiver Hitch Lock w/ 5/8"Pin, August 21, 2001
By mozero (Lakeville, MN)
After spending more than I care to mention on a bike rack and a hitch-mounted storage rack I felt I needed to protect them with a hitch lock. The Master Lock 375DAT is for a 2" receiver and replaces a 5/8" pin. I looked at a few bike and hardware stores and found it to be competitively priced on Amazon. It also appeared to be of better quality and lower price than some others I found at a hitch store as well. In assessing the lock I wanted to see how well it performed in three apsects: 1) Fit and ease of putting through the hitch pin opening 2) Ease of locking and opening with hitch attachments on; and 3) Did it make any noise or rattle.

Overall I was more than pleased with the lock. 1) With regard to placement I was pleasantly surprised to find that it slid through my slightly rusty receiver hitch better than any of my existing pins. I think this was because it is a better quality SST than my other pins. I also found the locking mechanism to be easier to lock in place than the conventional pin. Since the locking head is symmetrical I did not have to worry about getting the hole lined up just perfect to insert a cotter pin (also minimized knuckle scraps). 2) It was also easier to mount my storage rack attachment since you approach the lock from the side rather than having to address the cotter pin through the attachment. I had also intended to use with my bike rack which is held in place with a bolt. I forgot the bolt is held in place with a nut welded to the inside of the receiver tube so the lock is unable to go through. Not the fault of the lock, just disappointing that I either have to keep using the bolt or somehow remove to enable the lock to pass through. 3) I was a little concerned that there was some play in the lock and that it might create some noise. The play I noticed helps engage the key in the lock and does not appear to be a problem.

My only complaint is that I wish Amazon carried a version for my other car that has a 1 1/4" receiver which needs a 1/2" pin!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Master Lock 375DAT Snap on Receiver Hitch Lock, March 10, 2006
By John Kelly (Greensboro, NC United States)
Real nice product. I like the heavy rubber end that covers the lock. Sometimes on these locking bolts, they don't offer a seal on the lock and over time the lock rusts and is hard to work with. Being at the back of the truck, it's going to continue to be wet and the seal should keep the lock from not functioning as it should.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Rusted on, April 17, 2008
By Matthew M. Sheridan
After only 4 months, the lock part is rusted on the pin and I can't get it off. Also the key barely fit in the hole, even with the rubber piece protecting it from dirt and grime. The key is now stuck in the lock. Not that it matters, because I have to get the pin cut off anyways. I'd avoid this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Rusts Immediately, May 11, 2007
By George Curto (USA)
The lock itself is good but the quality of the metal is definitely not. It began to rust almost immediately and now the entire lock is covered in rust and looks horrible. Better off getting a different one.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  AVOID Complete junk, corrodes in months!, February 7, 2010
By D. C. Rennie (Boston MA)
I bought this back in July 2008. I went to take it off in Aug 2009 and it was so corroded and rusted the lock was frozen in place. I had to have it cut off at a welding shop. I would avoid this lock!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Beware, it rusts FAST!, May 15, 2009
By J. Szczygielski (NY)
The product fits the hitch just fine and has an excellent price point, unfortunately it rusts extremely quickly. In less than 3 weeks it was all spotty. After 3 months it is almost completely covered in rust, the worst part being that despite the rubber cap, the lock is rusted shut. We will have to cut off the lock and buy a better product, or cover the new one in some rust proofer.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Lock but doesnt fit Swagman Bike Rack, August 2, 2008
By GetawayGuruGirl (Sacramento, CA)
Buyer beware!! - If you are buying this lock to pair with the Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Reciever) as recommended by Amazon; don't! I purchased the rack and hitch lock together in July 08 based on Amazons recommendation. Apparently, Swagman changed their design mid-year to a proprietary threaded hitch pin and a standard 5/8" slide in hitch lock no longer fits the bike rack.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazon Needs To Update, October 2, 2009
By ma (USA)
Do not buy this pin with the combo offered on the bike rack. As I found out, to late, the pin offered by Amazon is the wrong pin and will not work. The bike rack manufacturer uses a specifically designed bolt style pin making this pin unusable. Wait until you get the bike rack and if you do not care for the pin supplied you can order a locking bolt pin from the internet or pick one up at u-haul or someplace else that deals in hitches.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  masterlock 375DAT receiver lock, June 30, 2009
By Mark K. Bosse
Watch out for the sleeve on the lock shaft. If you don't have it aligned right you will have a very hard time locking and unlocking the lock. If the sleeve gets wedged inside your trailer hitch and exerts pressure against the lock head, you won't be able to get the lock off (happened to me). Masterlock needs to redesign this lock to eliminate the sleeve - just make a bigger diameter shaft.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great hitch lock! Highly recommended, September 8, 2007
By Enjoying Life
I searched through many hitch locks and felt this one was the best. Easy to use, covering for the key hole, and it has the Masterlock brand behind it. Bravo. A great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Master Lock Rocks!, May 12, 2007
By Daniel N. Huse (Woodbury, MN United States)
I knew this product would be everything I expected, since it was a Master Lock. I was not disappointed one bit. This product functions beautifully, and it looks like a million dollars compared to the cheesy pins you see on my hitches. I would recommend this product to anybody.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to use for safety or as a spare..., August 23, 2010

Two cool features on this lock. The plastic cap that keeps the muck out, and the fact that there are two keys (in case of loss). This is a straightforward, well-priced item.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Important will not work on Swagman bike rack, September 20, 2009
By Christopher Fields (reno, nv)
Amazon recommended this as part of my order of the swagman bike carrier. I did not read the reviews from other people before I bought this lock for the carrier. It will not fit at all with the swagman. As I write this, Amazon still has not removed it from its recommeded list for this bike carrier. Do not add it if you plan to buy this carrier which by the way, wonderfull bike rack for my truck.

By H. Liao
This lock (Master Lock 375DAT Class III/IV Snap-On Receiver Hitch Lock with 5/8-Inch Pin) is not compatible with Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) although Amazon is still putting them as a package. So, check it before you buy it.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bike Rack Hitch Lock, March 19, 2009
By A. Roberge (Florida)
You sold this to me as a add-on to the bike rack hitch I bought and after opening the package I found out that it will not work to lock the bike rack hitch on to my car. Now the package is open and I can not return it. You need to take it off the also bought this item list with the bike rack. It will lock a regular ball hitck to the car.
