round balls, November 13, 2007
By moneypitminer (NJ)
|
|
My only real gripe about this product is that these balls are inconsistent in quality - some are made of thicker material than others. But that's not really a problem, for me anyway.
These are, whichever way you look at them, thin plastic balls. They will crush, ding, dent or otherwise loose their perfect roundness if you let anything heavier than say, another plastic ball, collide with them. I mean, would you expect an egg to be able to cope with a three year old child jumping on it? No. It's an egg.
However!
If this distresses you greatly, you can resurrect them by warming them very gently with a hairdryer. Or as I did, leave them next to a heating vent.
I placed an order for 1000 of these, they arrived in bags of 100, some rectangular bags, some cylindrical bags. The last 300 arrived loose in two boxes (150 balls a piece). I called the manufacturer and they explained why this may happen... They ship bulk. If a box can be filled with 150 balls, it will cost the same as shipping with a bag of 100 balls and the box 1/3 empty. They use common sense - ship more in a box for the same price and SAVE YOU MONEY.
The bags these things ship in are meant to hold plastic balls. They will not hold up well if you choose to constantly pack and unpack them. They will not hold up well if you use them for anything other than storage. I'm thinking I will not want to repack 1000 balls into 10 bags anyway.

bad quality balls, October 9, 2007
By pfz101 (Los Angeles, CA)
|
|
I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the balls. Out of the 100 balls, only 19 were in good condition. The other 81 were soft and dented. The balls actually seemed to be made of two different types of plastics. Most of them were a soft, thin plastic. A few, mostly the ones in good condition, seemed to be made of a harder plastic.
I contacted the manufacturer about my disappointment. A representative called me the same day she received my letter! She said I should send some balls to their warehouse and they would replace them. I'm about to do that now. I'm curious to see what the quality of those balls are.
Even though the balls are dented and soft, both my 1 and 3 1/2 year olds love playing with them in their tent! They don't care at all about the shape of the balls.

Nice, fun, and colorful, but are they really "Phthalate Free" ?, May 11, 2009

Nice, fun, and colorful, but are they really "Phthalate Free" ?
These things are fun, the kids, and adults love them, very colorful, great size, lots of fun. Some are soft, some are a little harder, so it made me wonder a bit how they where made.
I got these balls because phthalates can be harmful to kids, one thing is small temporary contact, and another thing is being completely immersed in this stuff, so I paid the extra buck to get these Phthalate free balls. Did I get them ? I do not know. The bag that came with them does not have any marking whatsoever stating that these are any different than the other balls, so I had to question if I got the correct product, I guess I have to trust the company and just keep it positive thinking. The bag which is a very nice thing they come with this bag, but it could be a bit bigger as the balls just fit inside the bag and must be shuffled to be able to close. Delivery was 11 bucks.. ouch! But it was very quickly delivered, so I guess that's almost (just almost) fair.

Phthalate Free Balls, December 19, 2009
By C. Fisher

When I called the Intex customer service to make sure the balls were phthalate-free, he was VERY helpful in teaching me how to ensure a phthalate-free product on the UPC code if the lable doesn't mention it. Also, Intex has a separate warehouse for phthalate-free products to minimize mistakes. I was very impressed with the customer service and will use Intex again.

Disappointed, October 3, 2010
By Daisy

|
I'd been wanting to set up a ball pit for my son, who has sensory integration disorder, but had not done so yet because it's important to me to keep him away from the harmful chemicals in plastic. So I was excited to find these pit balls that are advertised as "Phthalate-Free". However, they were a disappointment. Nowhere in the bag or on the shipment I received are they marked "Phthalate-Free". I contacted the seller, 7th Avenue Store, and they insisted the manufacturer does not use Phthalates in these pit balls and has not done so for years. However, they could offer no further explanation as to why this is not marked on the packaging. Also, the exact same balls are sold elsewhere on Amazon (including on another page sponsored by same seller!!) and are not marked Phthalate Free. So I either had to trust this customer service rep's word, or throw away the balls. I chose to do the latter, because this does not make sense to me. And, as with everything else that's made in China, the balls weren't very good quality anyway - when they arrived half of them were dented and they smelled strongly of plastic. What a waste of money!Intex "Phthalate Free" EP Version Fun Ballz Pit Ball Pack

Lots o' fun!, June 17, 2007
By riotbrrd (Los Gatos, CA USA)
|
|
I ordered 200 of these for my son's 1st birthday party. They arrived in perfect shape (no smushed balls). 200 was enough to fill 2 small kiddie pools (each about 3 or 4' diameter). The toddlers LOVED it!
100 balls turned out to be a smaller volume than I expected, and I feel like $[...] is a bit steep for what you get. They come in a plastic carrying bag with a handle, which is nice, but it's hard to get all the balls back in there. Also, the bag is not very durable; we're already having zipper problems.
Overall, a decent value, and great fun.

ball pit fun, January 20, 2007
By Christine Kelly (Orlando, FL)
|
|
A definite must if you are purchasing a ball pit. The number of balls they come with isn't enough to really have fun. When the pit is full, the kids can dive into it without getting hurt. Just know that you'll be picking up balls for days! A small price to pay though when you see how happy it makes them!

GREAT Ball Pit Balls...But a little pricey..., January 8, 2007
By T. Byler (Western Pennsylvania)
|
|
I haven't had any problems with these ball pit balls. They are very soft, which I like for safety reasons. Very brightly colored and seem to hold there shape very well. We haven't had any of them crush or dent. The instructions say if they do dent, place them in hot water and they should return to their original shape. We're glad we purchased these. The only reason they only got 4 STARS is because of the price. $19.99 is too steep a price, expecially considering that 100 balls doesn't go very far. We bought 200 balls and it doesn't even cover the bottom of our small ball pit. You will definitely need a lot of balls to make for fun play. 100 seems like a lot, but don't be fooled. It's not as many as you think... Toys r us has 100 balls for $9.99, which is a MUCH more reasonable price, but I haven't purchased any yet, so don't know what they are like...

Big Mistake, July 31, 2008
By H. Venegas (Manhattan Beach, CA USA)
|
|
I read the reviews and I still purchased these balls, so it is my own fault. I figured, "they are cheap plastic balls, how bad can they be?" Well, after paying more for shipping that the actual balls cost, they came with at least HALF of them already dented. I knew my son and his friends would do some damage, but I thought that at least they would come in decent condition. I am going to go to the store and by some different ones there since these don't look like they are going to last too long

ball pit balls, March 19, 2010

Great for use with the numerous ball-pit toys you buy that only include 25 balls. These are colorful and vibrant toys. Too early to see how durable they will be. about 1/6 of the package was either "deflated" or dented.

Ball pit balls are supposed to be soft!, April 11, 2008
By ectron (Ceiba, PR United States)
|
|
I ordered 300 of these. Only ONE was "deflated" which wasn't even an issue for us since you can blow it back up again (at least temporarily if you must). Ball pit balls are supposed to be soft and a little squishy. That's what makes them A)Fun, and B)SAFE. I simply filled a 5 foot, three ringed inflatable swimming pool with all of them and let my kids aged 1, 8 and 11 go to town! My kids can be pretty rough but none of these suckers suffered any damage. They come in every color of the rainbow and the colors are nice and bright. They are large enough to not present a hazard but just the right size for grabbing and tossing around and such. My only complaint is that it isn't so easy to get them all to fit into the duffel bags when I want my living room floor space back for an evening.

I always wanted these when I was a kid! I bought these for my daughter (6 mos.) to use in an inflatable pool during the winter when we couldn't use water! Now she can use it year round! And it's really fun to bat around the balls with her and teach her colors and numbers! The price is real reasonable too! I would definitely recommend this product!

Great balls of fun!, December 22, 2007
By new mommy (Leesport, PA)

The bag of balls was great for my daughter's ball pit. They are large enough that she can't get them in her mouth and soft enough to sit on or throw without injury. One bag is enough to cover the bottom of the pit and I added another to make it extra fun.

I bought these balls for my daughters first birthday party. I filled a baby pool, an inflatable submarine and a blow-up castle. they held up really well from TONS of kids from age 1 to 13. I bought 300 and it was plenty to go around. They arrived in great condition and and have held up fine since. my 1 and 3 year old children play with them daily and LOVE them. They learn from them as well through the colors and physical activities we do with them!

Balls arrive damaged and get worse, September 25, 2007
By C. Rice
|
|
These balls arrive dented and they continue to lose air as children play with them. I had thought they were the squishy kind that I could reinflate with a bicycle pump, but they are sealed plastic. The plastic is hard, although thin, which allows for the "squish." Won't last long. Intex claimed to have fixed this problem, but it is not fixed.

Good pit balls, August 31, 2007
By Lisa (LaPorte, CO, United States)
|
|
My dad got these to go with the Playhut Megaland set, as recommended by other reviewers, and they're great. Unlike some people's reviews, none of our balls were squashed or deflated. They're in perfect shape, came in the clear duffel shown, and 100 balls (along with the 50 smalls ones that came with the set) fills up the ball area perfectly. He sent another 100 today (I guess you can never have too many balls!) and they look perfect as well. My daughter has jumped all over them, she loves them, and they're holding up great. Very satisfied!

An inconsistency, August 5, 2007
By Chilipepper (FPO, AE United States)
|
|
I bought 200 Fun Ballz in 2 separate transactions from Intex in May of 2007. The first set was great; round duffle bag and perfect balls. The second set came in a square duffle bag and most of the balls felt thinner and were dented. There doesn't seem to be a set standard for making and packaging these balls so just beware, you may get great ones, or dented ones. Honestly, I believe they are over priced. I have the Intex inflatable baby pool with the inflatable attached sunshade, (blue and white) and I need 200 balls to fill it. That may give you an idea of how many you need to fill a pool or pit.

Perfect balls for Little Hands, April 26, 2009
By Ambria Lee (Central Florida)
|
|
I bought these balls for my two twin granddaughters along with a small pool. That way, in the winter they can play with the pool and the balls. The balls came 100 to a pack but they really ended up with 99 balls - one was crushed beyond use. So 99 out of 100 is not bad. But they love them so that is all that matters. The balls are easy for them to grip and have not thrown all of them out of the pool. I also bought the Intex Shady Beach baby Pool (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BX44DU) and I am awaiting the verdict for that to review. I am not for sure about the educational aspects of these balls other than maybe hand-eye coordination. Overall, I would recommend to others.

Perhaps they Updated this product?, April 15, 2009
By Kmom (Selden, NY United States)
|
|
I read all of the reviews for this product but bought them anyway since they were cheaper than the competitors (I figured they were bound to be destroyed no matter what). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Every single ball arrived in perfect non-dented condition. My 2 kids have played with them a dozen or so times so far. After each play session we replace them in the tote bag and I have yet to see a single ball dented or destroyed. The balls feel like air filled bouncy balls not hard PVC wiffle ball type balls. So perhaps somewhere along the line the company improved it's products in response to previous reviews.
My only complaint about this product is that 100 balls doesn't go very far. I bought 2 hundred and it fills a little more than one layer in the pit - realistically about 600 balls would be perfect, but that gets pretty expensive!

Simple ball pit balls, April 27, 2011
By Mom
|
|
I got these for my son who is almost a year old. I wanted something for him to play with. I just bought the one bag and put about half of them in his pack and play. He loves playing with them and banging them together. The balls arrived and none were dented. They were all in great shape and still are. I don't know how they will last when he gets rougher with them but I am pleased with my purchase. They really don't hold much educational value except for teaching colors but he likes playing with them. When he gets older and can play in there on his own I'll probably pick up another pack or two and make a true ball pit but for now he is happy with half a pack in his pack and play.

Great Customer Service, November 4, 2010
By Playtime with Kids
|

These balls arrived and most of the 100 were dented in places. I wrote to 7th Avenue Store to ask what to do. They offered to refund or replace, and then suggested I use a pin to make a small hole in them which would allow me to round them out. It worked. Their customer service is fast and excellent, and they compensated me well for my inconvenience. Worth a try with these balls if you can be flexible.

I bought this for my 15 month old son. He likes to throw things so I figured this would be a bit safer than throwing things like the remote for the tv. TONS-OF-FUN, June 13, 2011
By revtev4him

|
I purchased this item for my granddaughters (ages 2 and 6), and I was told they are TONS-OF-FUN! I wanted them to get some exercise kicking them and chasing after them in their fenced in back yard this summer, and to learn to play and share and even create their own game plans with them. Like laying an ice cream bucket on it's side and see if they could kick the balls into the buckets, or through some hoop placed in the ground like crochet. I plan to get them a small pool later and they would also be fun in the water for them as well. And, I also am encouraging their mother to make sure that they do their own clean up when it's time to put them away which is also educational in their upbringing. What a deal for all that!

I Want A Ball Pit!, June 2, 2011
By E. Kennedy
|
|
At 24 I still really want to play in ball pits. However, they are rather hard to find for adults and places like Chuckie Cheese seem to frown on adults frolicking in theirs. So until I can convince my boyfriend to let me fill the closet with these play balls (and I will make it happen someday!), I will just have to live vicariously through my niece who has one of those little inflatable play areas made to go with these balls. I got her a bag of these balls and she loves them. They're the somewhat soft kind so if more than one child is playing parents don't have to worry about someone throwing a ball and the play date ending in tears.

Good product for ball pit, May 10, 2011

We purchased 200 balls for a ball pit. Two balls were smashed and not recoverable, but that wasn't a big deal to us. The balls were bigger than I thought. CHEAP AND DENTED, March 30, 2011
By Casey Gay (Corpus Christi, TX)
|
|
I purchased these balls to go with the Playhut Magic Ball Zone and I am very dissapointed, especially since these were the recommended balls suggested by Amazon. I cannot tell you which ones you should buy, but DO NOT buy these.
- The balls are not the same size as the balls that come with the Playhut (not a big deal..minimal difference, really)
- Almost all (80%-90%...really) of the balls came "dented"...like they need more air in them or something, and the are very thin walled. They are just very cheap
- They do come with a decent storeage bag
Luckily, my one year old doesn't care a thing about dented balls, but I would have perferred something a little higher quality. These are the cheapest ones you can buy for a reason.

I can't say enough good things about these balls. They are PERFECT for toddlers and big kids alike. They are a great size, and very soft and pliable. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these for any child's playroom or ball pit. LOVE IT!!!!

I forgot how much I paid for this but I think it was around 20 dollars. Made in China, which I didn't know. Wouldn't have bought. Quality is not very good. They crush too easy. Plastic material is very thin. My daughter still has fun with them, so I'm giving it 2 stars because of that.

Great fun with these balls! They're just the right size for a toddler; they don't fit in the mouth but they can easily handle them. The ball colors are very bright; good for learning colors! I'm going to order a thousand more!! Thanks for a great product!!

By Laura D Perez Echartea (Orlando, Florida United States)

My baby girl is 10 months now and she just loves them. We bought these balls to place in a pool during fall & winter. She enjoys playing with them. Colors are really nice and balls are not too hard or soft...she's been playing for about 2 o 3 months now and they havent lose their shape or color. Great item for the value.

The balls are very soft so they work out well with the bounce pit. I'm glad they are as soft as they are! They are very easy to crush but it won't twist her ankle as easily if she lands on it.

I bought this for my kids bal pit and after only a few hours most of them were crushes badly. They seemed to be made of some thin plastic. I got another pack of 250 smaller balls at toys r us for only $24 and those are very sturdy made in the US and after almost a week i have yet to find one of those crushed. Dont waste your money on these get some from toys r us.

Perfect for the ball pen, December 30, 2010
By E. Johnson
|
|
This pack of 100 is just enough for the ball pen I got my niece. None arrived dented or damaged in any other way, and they didn't get damaged during play. I threw these into the ball pen with my niece inside and accidentally hit her in the head with a few, but it didn't phase her at all. These are nice & soft and appropriate for toddlers up to elementary school age.

Cheap Quality, December 28, 2010

When I received these balls quite a few were already mis-shaped and I can see that they are going to be continuously going flat. They are flimsy and not good quality, not at all what I expected. I plan to replace these soon.

My son's favorite toy!!!, November 15, 2010
By Paparazzi (Brooklyn, NY)
|
|
We bought my 9 month old son all kinds of different fun toys, and he only wants to play with these balls! I ordered 2 of these so I'd have 200 balls. When they arrived, I'd say 10-15% were dented. But really who cares, cause they're just gonna get dented anyway by your kids. We filled my son's Pack 'n Play with 200 of these and he just swims in them like in a ballpit!
Pros
- Balls are bright and colorful. You can teach your kids colors.
- Balls are big but super light, so my son is able to hold them with one hand!
- Balls are soft (as they should be), so I'm not afraid of him getting hurt in his ballpit.
Cons
- Balls dent easily, but it's easy to get them undented. It's because they're soft, but they're SUPPOSED to be soft! If they were hard, it defeats the whole purpose and safety of a ballpit. I really don't bother undenting them anymore cause they just get dented again and again. My son doesn't care and continues to have a blast anyway!
I plan to buy another 100 when he gets bigger to fill up his ballpit some more. Very happy mom to a VERY active baby, who plays happily for 30 minutes now in his ballpit!

Great So Far, July 22, 2010
By 4 in 4.5
|
|
These look and feel more sturdy than I expected. My kids have only been playing with them for one afternoon so far, but none of them have been crushed yet! They like to throw them and carry them around even more than they like to jump on them, so I expect that to help prolong the life of the balls. I have one of the smallest size inflatable kiddie pools and I think I really need another hundred balls (300 in total) to fill the pool nicely and make it more inviting for jumping.

Good set of balls, some inconsistency, June 20, 2010
By Rachel Stevens (Yigo, Guam)
|
|
I agree with other reviews- these have a bit of inconsistency. A few of the balls are really thick but some are really thin and bend in easily. Most of them are a medium mix of the two. They are perfect for color recognition because they include ALL the colors. They are a good size for smaller hands.

Extra ball pit balls, May 17, 2010
By J. Edgar (San Diego, CA USA)
|
|
The balls are colorful, durable, and were rated as being safe to use with toddlers (still at the age of putting things in their mouths). I bought them to use with a Playhut Ball Pit. They are slightly larger and have different colors than the original balls, but when they are mixed together no one else noticed any differences. We used 200 balls in the pit (it came with 100) and kept the extra package of balls to replace any lost damaged balls.
The pit has been used by kids ages 1-10 with no problems with any of the balls. None of them have collapsed nor split. The package came as shown, in a clear plastic duffel-shaped reusable bag.100 pcs Fun Ballz
Shipping was fast and the balls arrived in excellent condition.

Ball Pit fun, February 15, 2010
By Lea Brown (ESSEX, MD, US)
|
|
This toy works well with any ball pit. The ball pits do not come with enough balls to make the toy fun, but adding these balls to your purchase will make it more fun for your child! If you purchase this in the winter, I guarantee you that there will be a lot of balls that look caved in, but most of them will pop back up once in the house and warmed up! Also, because of the nature of the toy, they are supposed to be soft, so some of them will always be a tad dented. My son had a good time playing with it, and it is slightly educational if you make it that way... for example play a color sorting game with them!!

The product was exactly as described. I ordered it before Christmas and the shipping time was on time as it said it would be. Very fast shipping, and the product was in excellent condition. New as described. The balls were very good, I did not realize how easily they could be dented however they did not stay dented, it was very easy to un dent them. THey were very lightweight and harmless to the child. Very good product

Ball Pit Balls, February 8, 2010
By FirstTimeMom (Union County, NJ)
|
|
These were a great addition to the pop-up ball pit tunnel tent Mega Playland. My 10 month old loves to kick them, watch the balls roll out the tunnels and we started going over colors. I have been having such a hard time find toys that are just primary colors and these balls serve the purpose. Your are probably thinking, "well they are just balls", which is true but it keeps my son entertained and happy. The only thing is that he can squeeze or bit them and concave them.

They are good for what they are. If you are filling a spot bigger than 3'x3' you will need more to get the "pit" effect. Some balls are flimsy and crush easily .The balls I got are very vivid colors and work well.Overall they were a good buy.

Balls for Toddlers used with Inflatable Gym, July 4, 2009
By Orv
|
|
Bought the balls to use with the inflatable play pen for a nine month-old grandson. Their size is just right for him to hold easily in one hand without slipping out - a defintie plus. The ball size also fits the "idents" in the inflatable bottom of the Soft Sides Play Gym. Some reviewers have said they use a lot of them to fill the pen for playing, our grandson prefers only about 35 in there with him. Any more and he has trouble moving around and getting up to play with other toys - like stuffed bears, etc. Worth the price.

Great Product; Great Price, March 28, 2009
By H. Ekola

|
This item has had mixed reviews, but when I ordered 800 balls, in bags of 100, not only were the bags new and zipper sealed, but the balls were all consistant quality. The quality is excellent. The balls do not dent, and I would rate them comparable to Playhut brand, which are also great. My five year old and 2 year old love their new Jump-o-Lene ball pit, and so do the parents!

Better than the Fisher Price Balls !!, February 21, 2004
By Mom of child with ASD (New Hampshire United States)

I bought 400 balls and none of them came crushed! I am so disappointed that these are out of stock, now I know why. I really liked the bag that they came in; I use it for other things. These are the only plastic balls that I like that are big, colorful and so durable! I have had them for 3 years now, and they are hard to deflate. These balls are really made well. I really recommend these balls!

Good match w/ Mega Playland, July 17, 2011
By M Rojano-Garcia

Bought this with the Mega Playland to supplement the balls they came with. They are a bit larger than the one's that came with the Mega Playland, but that was a nice surprise. Gave some variety to the play set with the different sized balls. Bag they came in was good for storing. Shipped on time. Overall happy with the product and price.

Well made, July 7, 2011
By Greg Mullane (Gaineville, FL USA)
|
|
We've had these for many months now, and they have held up very well. Nothing too surprising in this review: they are durable, colorful, a good size for kids (roughly the size of a tennis ball). They are light and "give" a little bit when squeezed, which probably contributes to their toughness. Good value for the price.
Be aware that 100 balls may not be as much as you think. We have 200 balls and it doesn't seem to fill our small ball pit that well!
