A really great deal!, September 18, 2002
By Shippy (Redmond, WA USA)
|
|
These cases are durable and colorful! None of that dull black or transparent stuff. They're made from the company that makes the best CD-Rs, Verbatim. Definitely snag the 100pk of the ValueLife CD-Rs. They're great because they have no logos or typing on the front of the Disc. So, if you want to make labels, there's no risk of anything showing through. Plus, the CDs are of such high quality. I've never had a problem with any of them and I've purchased at least 300 Verbatims by now. If you're looking for the 100pk, I recommended it in addition to this product above. Don't clutter up your CD rack with bulky, brittle, and dull jewel cases. Use these!

Terrible packaging, November 12, 2010
By Grandpa Don (Aptos CA)
|
|
This item arrived in a rather large box, with paper to separate it from a pack of CD's on the same order. This item arrived with 8 cases broken, (16% damage.) 4 on each end were broken. 4 blue and 4 yellow.
These cases are very light weight, and brittle. Large package would be a real hassle to try and return, this is one of those times that you eat your loss, and remind yourself that often low price is synonymous with low quality. With this much breakage, not a good deal.

Cheap and cracked at hinge upon reciept of most of them, June 24, 2010
By Robert D. Swift (Oakhurts, CA)

The box was packed well and no damage to the box but 1/3 of them have cracked or broken hinge clip. I will notify amazon to get replacements of another brand. Cheap price, cheap quality.

Poor Quality, April 2, 2011
By Fair and unbiased (GRAYLING, MI, US)
|
|
I got a DVD burner and needed discs and cases. I thought that the cases were all about the same, but these ones do not snap shut. At first I thought maybey I had put the disc in wrong or that the insert was blocking the tabs, but it turned out they do not line up very well and will not close securely. Maybey it's a problem with the "slim" construction. Next time I will get the standard, full size cases.

Verbatim 50 - Pack Jewel Cases Arrived Damaged, February 10, 2010
By Greg Hammen (N. Canton , Ohio)
|
|
These are very nice jewel cases. I` believe them to be very good quality, and they should be with the brand Verbatim on the box. Fast shipping , Good price. Only problem I had was about eight of them had cracked corner corners and had to throw them out. I guess I could of returned them, but I really needed them at the time.
The shipping was of poor quality. The edge of the case box was against the outer shipping box. I could see it was dropped and the corner was wasted. Very poor packaging. Again, these are good quality cases if you want to chance the shipping. Probably won`t buy them online again.

Good if..., November 25, 2011
By D. Ross
|
|
I had bought a 50 pack at a store about a year or so ago. They are great if you buy them locally.
Needing more, I thought I'd buy them through Amazon because they are cheaper. It was a false economy. While I had very few broken when bought from the store, buying through the mail is a different store. When I opened the package, about 8 were cracked. Over the past few months I've had them, I've discovered more cracked ones. You have to be very careful with the cracked ones or else the will break and be useless.

Buyer be ware, June 9, 2011
By Charles C. Wright
|
|
While this product may seem reasonable in price, I found the construction quality to be poor and easy to break. You must open and close each case very carefully to avoid breaking off the tabs that hold the two case sides together and the case can crack very easily.

Good cases, bad shipping, October 14, 2009
By Stephen Corum
|
|
Since this is a product review I must give the product 5 stars. However the way it was packed for shipping was not so good. The cases came in a box with no cushion of any kind. It just rattled freely in the box. Of course there was some broken. There was 3 broken and it could have easily been more. In the future I will buy fragile items in the store where I can see if there is any damage. This isn't the first time something has arrived from Amazon broken due to bad packaging.

Great for space savings, March 12, 2010
By Kim (San Francisco, CA United States)
|
|
The cases are great for minimizing the space that DVDs take. The color makes them nice for shelf display. I put all of my movies in these, and now they are all on one small shelf, alphabetically by genre. Before the movies were spread all over the place. They hold disc well and are well designed for ease of release of the disc. Indeed, some of the cases had holding mechanisms that made disc removal hard. Easy disc removal means less likelihood of cracking the disc upon removal. A few did arrive cracked, but Amazon quickly took care of me with a partial refund. I would order from Amazon and just check the pack carefully when you receive.

They are cheaply made & often break just using them in a normal manner; but what isn't these days..
They hold the CD's & DVD's & I guess that's what counts in the end.
I wish there was another manufacture making these, but there does not seem to be many..

DVD/CD plastic case, February 28, 2011
By Ralph Furlong (Tacoma, WA USA)
|
|
I purchased these for a large project that I was doing that required sending out 10 shipments of 9 DVDs. These cases provided a very good protective cover for the disks, allowed me to color code each DVD of the set to ensure that each person received the correct DVD set.
Here is what I did not like about the cases:
1. The cases are hard to open without breaking them. Use a bit of patience and gently flex the case and the disk will open.
2. Closing the disks and having them lock shut also takes a bit of persistence. Just pressing it closed will not always get them to lock closed. You need to press in on each corner to ensure that the case closes securely.
Here is what I liked about the cases:
1. Color coded to let you group multiple disks together to ensure a complete set.
2. Inexpensive protection for shipping disks through the mail.
3. Thin and light weight, perfect for shipping.
If you are looking for a one time use or a once in awhile use type of situation, then these cases fit the bill and are very slim. If you are looking to use this where you would be repeatedly opening and closing the case, you probably want to keep on looking for another product.

Verbatim has a name for its self for doing things right. I did not want to write a long report on something so simple but I did want to say that these cases are very strong and are not weak in the way that they where made. You can trust that you cd or dvd will be protected and will not bend in the middle and hurt your cd's. I highly recommend these cases for all your important CD' and DVD's.

Nice cases at a great price, December 9, 2010
By Mickey789 (Collegeville, PA United States)
|
|
I've used Verbatim slim CD/DVD cases before, and they're very well constructed. When shipped from Amazon, they had NO cracks in any of them, and they stand up to wear very well. I've never had one of these break off at the hinges. Sometimes I like the colors to help sort out CDs and DVDs, but at other times I wish it was easier to find a case of simple black/clear slim cases, so that I can print the covers and not have them obscured by the colors. But these are nice, well made, and at a great price. What more could you want from a CD slim case?

Slim CD cases, July 20, 2010
By Matthew Dennis

This is an excellent product for when you want to put your CD's (or DVD's) inside a hard protective case. The coloring is a nice feature which allows you to more easily find your stuff, assuming you remember that you put your copy of "Fraggle Rock" in the blue case.
Good, quality product for the price.
If you don't like "Fraggle Rock", this product may not be for you. Also, there is likely something wrong with you.

Good quality, need more consistent packing and shipping, September 5, 2010
By gaxeman (USA)
|
|
Like some other reviewers here, I like these cases, but had broken ones at the hinge point for several of them straight out of the box. The broken ones were at the outer edge, so it seems evident it was due to lack of care taken in packing, shipping and/or handling. Might be nice to have a more protective container, but then I'd guess they would cost more. Still worth it with a couple broken.

Verbatim CD/DVD cases meet expectations, January 27, 2012
By jammer

|
I have purchased DVD/CD cases in color from a number of sources, but the Verbatim brand seems to be more sturdy than all the others. Other brands seem to break down at the hinges and so far my experience with the Verbatim brand is not like that. The vendor delivered the product in a timely manner and the purchase was satisfactory in every way.

Just as I had hoped, January 21, 2012
By AuntyAlias (San Francisco, CA USA)

When I do astrology readings I have a lot of gifs, text documents, videos, and pdf files to share with the client. I burn them on to DVD but needed storage cases to put the discs into. These are just what I needed. I have a software program what I use to create insert labels and these storage cases have little "lips" to slip the inside label under to keep them in place. I like that they are in different colors so not all clients get the same color disc storage case. These are just as I had hoped they would be.

Almost half were broken when they arrived!, January 12, 2012

Almost half of our cases already had at least one broken hinge when the package arrived! We couldn't return it or exchange it because we needed the cases immediately for college football recruitment videos. We were very unhappy with the quality, and had to throw 20 out of the 50 cases in the garbage because they were completely unusable and unsalvagable! What a complete and total waste of money!

Memorex jewel cases slightly better, December 29, 2011
By LD (Colorado)
|
|
I have bought lots of Memorex 100-pack jewel cases. I saw these at a lower price and thought I would compare them. Other than the "disc" imprint I find them identical except for a slightly darker tint for each color. The Memorex snap close just like you would expect them to but the Verbatim require pressing the tabs. Its a slight inconvenience. I have had no broken cases.

Great Cases!, December 27, 2011
By Cory
|
|
Easy to open, doesn't get stuck! Holds the disks very well! When closing, just make sure it snaps closed as the snaps are a little bit, very little bit, hard to close tightly. I think, more because of the position of the locking bumps as they're a little bit in from the edge. Just push with your thumb and index finger on either side, where the bumps are, and it closes tightly. When I open them, I generally hold them on the edge, before the bumps to close, and pull at the middle from the bottom side right where the notch thing is. Open's right up and doesn't feel like it's going to break. Seeing as they're not too thick, I'm not sure how much abuse they could take if bumped around a lot. But, in a secure stand I'm sure they'll be just fine.

As Good As I Expected, December 5, 2011
By DPollock

I had purchased these at Staples about a year ago and liked them very much. Now being almost out I needed to buy more but Staples did not have them in stock here. I was not sure about online because of the reviews that there were a lot of broken cases but with Amazon you can always return anything and there is never any problems. I purchased two which gave me 100 cases and they were packed very well with air packaging surounding the two packs of 50. I don't see any damage maybe because I purchase two and they packed them better? Will buy more in the future........................

Perfect for My Needs with Color Lightscribe Discs, August 22, 2011
By Singer Songwriter (Nashville, TN, USA)

I purchased these and an equal amount of HP color Lightscribe CD-R's. They match up very well, though the user must decide how to match the colors, as these have a purple section but not an orange section. My answer is to put my red discs in the purple cases and my orange discs in the red cases. Looks good to me.

Am happy with these, are the only cases I order, July 23, 2011
By Sage
|
|
I have bought these @ stores only to open @ home and find some of the cases cracked, broken, ect. Have been ordering these for a while from amazon & didn't know until today that my previous product reviews did not "go thru".
I have never had even one case cracked / broken from shipping and I like that these cases are smaller than the "average" case a CD or a DVD & in some cases a data disk, too - these take up less space and I love the different colors
First time I ordered I was hesitant about these arriving in one piece as just from the store some were cracked / broken
This has not been the case and I order these frequently
I would recommend these

50-pack Verbatim CD/DVD Jewel Cases, July 20, 2011
By Spydust
|
|
The quality is basic on these jewel cases. But packing is still an issue. There are always damaged cases at each end. Not enough to warrant a return but when I pay for 50 I'd like to get 50. This time I also got damaged DVDs so it evened out and I was not stuck with oddball numbers. Some of the centers on this batch are tight enough not to want to give up the DVD and some are way loose and the disc does not snap in. But all-in-all I'm still satisfied. I'll continue to order these but will request special packing and hope for better. I'm sorry they kept badgering me to rate this product because it really is not the product I'm disappointed with until this time with loose and tight ones.

Fantastic Cases, July 13, 2011
By Peter Mars (MA. United States)

If you're looking for a sturdy case for a large library of CD's or DVD's look no further. The Verbatim cases will do the trick. In the space of 29 regular DVD boxes, I can now accommodate 83 Verbatim slim line multi colored cases. One other thing I like about them, you can make a job easier by color coding them. I would recommend them to anyone who wants dependability and style.

None Broken, July 12, 2011
By Exerter (Baltimore, MD, USA)
|
|
Eureka!! Received shipment and none were broken and packed well. Other reviewers have had issue with getting broken cases thru the mail. These are nice slim cases that hold the DVD or CD in place. You can mark on them or use labels. Have not had any problems with them. Just ordered some more. Will see if they arrive broken or not.

Good Cases Good Price, May 26, 2011
By A. Luebbe (Fla USA)
|

I already had one of these and needed more green ones. I ordered these because the ones that I had,
worked fine and the price is great. I needed more
green ones because I was making copies of an old baseball team movie and the green was the same shade as the team colors. I am mailing them to the teammates and they are arriving in good shape.

Verbatim 94178 slim CD/DVD cases, May 24, 2011
By R. K. Moreland (Los Angeles, CA)
|
|
This is the second set of these I have purchased. I have been completely satisfied for their purpose. I prefer the color variety vs clear plastic. As I have never used a labeling or lightscribe option on the disks I've made, they may have an adverse impact on reading thru the color tint.

Great alternative to the thicker cases., May 6, 2011
By eCognition (CA United States)
|

And at the price you'll get on here, they can't be beat. This is one of those products I used to get from Costco, until Amazon started offering them for less. I'm partial to the plain black cases, but it's not something I would dock a star for. These cases serve as my medium-duty cases. I buy the thicker ones for tossing around, the paper ones (maxwell gives the best price and quality per sleeve, in my opinion) for storing cd's I won't be using for a while, and these for keeping in safer places where I plan on using them periodically. My only annoyance is with the covers not closing all the way unless you give it a second or two of special attention. Ideally, with this type of thing, you just want to put the cd in there, shut it and toss it in the drawer. To be fair, I haven't had another brand of these slim type of cases do that, but still. The price and the functionality it affords me makes this a great purchase and I'll definitely be back fore more in the future.

Great product. Better Price, April 27, 2011
By James Clark
|
|
I went looking for covers at my local stores and was surprised to see that they were charging about 50 cents a piece for them in bulk. Looked on line and they were 1/2 the price. Same cases, same quality half the price. Can't beat it.

High quality, some damage on delivery, April 11, 2011
By Frank Camm (Northern Virginia)
|
|
These thin jewel boxes allow enough interior space to include detail on disk content, but are still half the thickness of a standard jewel box--real space savers. I didn't expect it, but the five colors have turned out to be helpful in telling CDRs apart. This is my fourth purchase of a pack of 50. So far, the jewel boxes seem sturdy and well designed. One of four shipments was damaged, making 3 of 50 jewel boxes unusable--not a big enough deal to ask for a replacement, but an irritation. I expect to continue buying this brand as long as I continue to record more CDRs.

Only one arrived broken!, April 6, 2011

It would've received a 5 star rating but one of the cases was damaged upon receipt, but I guess I was lucky cause I've read about customers receiving almost half of them broken.

Good cheap cases, January 6, 2011
By GearJunky (Fort Mohave, Arizona United States)
|
|
You may receive the 50 pack with a few cases broken on the edges as the cheap cardboard packaging is just that, (CHEAP) and it is very easy to hit one of the thin cardboard corners and shatter some of the brittle plastic cases.
With this said, I found three or four broken, but the rest were OK. These are still better than cardboard sleeves that cause whatever oils are on your hand to smear across the disk as you slide them in and out, and will continue in this vain as long as you continue to use the sleeve.
I found these to be a good step up from sleeves, and a good bargain with three or four broken.

Exactly what I paid for, July 2, 2010
By Craig (Chicago)
|
|
I ordered these a few weeks ago along with about 50 DVD+Rs and they've definitely served their purpose. The colors are nice and bright and allow you to sort your discs easily based on genre or whatever you'd like to sort by.
They are durable and don't crack easily like a lot of jewel cases I've seen in the past. The best part though, dirt cheap and delivered quickly.

Eye-Catching Slim CDDVD Cases - Recommended, May 28, 2010
By CFH (Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA)
|
|
The colorful Verbatim Slim CDDVD cases are indeed thin and will not take much abuse, but they are also eye-catching. We have an electronic version of our catalog (for my wife's small business) and take copies to give out at workshops. These cases get attention and are picked up by our potential customers.
As noted above, they are lightweight and I wouldn't use these for shipping since they wouldn't likely survive in a bubble mailer but they are fine for normal storage.
Recommended!

Good deal - Fast Delivery, May 20, 2010
By A Student (LANTANA, FLORIDA, US)

This is an inexpensive way to burn and store blanks. I add my own artwork and song list. They are somewhat fragile, so not really meant to be tossed around or dropped. Kept on a CD rack with other's that are in regular jewel cases is the best way to keep them from damage.

The jewel cases arrived in perfect shape. The reason I did not give it five stars is because this does not come with paper cover labels, so I have to make my own. I also could get jewel cases (Memorex, that come with the labels) at a better price at Sam's, if I had a membership.

Fragile - Do Not Drop, January 9, 2011
By rapgse
|
|
While I've been a Verbatim advocte since the mid 1980's and have had nothing but great things to say about their products, I am dismayed at the durability of these plastic DVD/CD cases. The package I received my be defective as they are extremely fragile and do not resist breakage even from simple drops of a few feet onto wooden flooring. Handle them with care or they break easily. I received them from Amazon, packed with my bulk blank DVDs in a cardboard box and some buffering paper. The package was delivered UPS and left on my porch. General inspection did not reveal any significant damages. However, after opening the package of cases, I discovered 6 of them were crushed on the bottom at a corner. Obviously, they had been damaged somewhere in handling, but not by me. I discarded the broken ones, and began using the others. Yesterday, I dropped a pair off the coffee table, approximately 24" on to the floor and both of them shattered at the corner. I will contact Verbatim directly to advise them of this and maybe they will reply and act accordingly to replace them and restore my confidence. Buyer beware.
