Inside X is a wild and thrilling array of highlights from ESPN's 2003 X Games, held on the land and sea (and often in the air) of Los Angeles. While coverage of the Games' extreme sports events is superb, the program's accent is on the athletes, who are often entertainingly iconoclastic. There's plenty of drama here, including skateboard king Tony Hawk's remarkable Gold Medal win in the "Best Trick" category, plus an unusual but exciting team-surf meet, and the sight of motocross champ Travis Pastrana--bouncing back from an injury--reluctantly landing a 360 on a harsh, L.A. Coliseum course after close competitor Brian Deegan does the same. Less familiar, but no less fun, events such as wakeboarding and vertical-skateboard doubles get their due. Between games, check out Hawk's droll backstage tour of the Games, gold-medalist skateboarder Eric Koston's golf break, music videos, and an accompanying CD of Inside X's soundtrack. --Tom Keogh
