Comfortable Ninja, November 21, 2009

These socks make me feel like I'm walking on marshmallows. They could have a bit of a snugger fit, but that has to do with the size of my foot - not the sock's fault. Overall, socks are wonderful. They allow me to sneak up on houseguests and viciously smash their faces with watermelon seeds, of which I live for. Anyway, A+++ product! A+++mazon, as always! Will buy again! Hokay, goodnight.

Save Your Money These are for little boys size 8, June 21, 2007
By Redondo Beach (Redondo Beach, Ca)
|
|
I am so upset with Amazon. I probably buy several thousand dollars worth of items per year and these are really too small and very substandard. The package reads: mens size 10 to 13 but I cannot get them half-on. They are thin with a sparse rough hewn interior padding. These are NO STAR rated- the worst.
I would skip these, they really suck and are very expensive for what is there. Perhaps as an applicator for paste wax on your car but not for a size 10 mens foot.
Shame on you; where is the quality control Amazon. Let's start checking what is delivered under your banner!! That feeling of being taken advantage of is terrible.

The socks were sent and received in a timely manner. They are terrific socks at a good price and I am very happy with my purchase. Life kind of takes on a whole new meaning when you have such terrific socks at a terrific price. My life has changed for the better since my purchase of the Gold Toe Men's Cotton Liner Athletic Sock.

Great socks, maybe not enough cotton?, August 25, 2010
By A. J. M. (NJ, United States)
|
|
I have been using gold toes for years now and they have always been good. My feet are 13 - 13.5 and therefore it's hard to find socks that fit right. These do exceptionally well. After first wash the socks shrink somewhat but fit even better on my feet. My reason for the 4 stars is these particular gold toes make my feet sweat a little more in shoes. I think this is because perhaps there is more nylon in them than the usual gold toes. The more cotton, the less my feet sweat. I'll try to look up the nylon / cotton ratio and update the review hopefully that will help more.

Great For Walking/Running, August 29, 2009
By Kevin (Huntsville, AL)
|
|
I've always bought Gold Toe dress socks, so I thought I would give the athletic ones a try. I've been very impressed. The socks are the perfect height to cover your lower ankle and keep your shoes from rubbing, unlike many in this variety. They've held up very well and I would definitely recommend.

Hate to buy less than Gold Toe, June 29, 2010
By mostlyharmless22 (Yukon, OK USA)
|
|
I started out buying Gold Toe socks for my son when he was about 16. He could wear the cheaper socks out in a couple of months but he couldn't wear these out! He's 19 now and still wearing the first purchase. I bought some for my husband this time to convince him. They definitely cost more but it's well worth it when they last that well.

Don't buy if you mind your socks slipping down, December 27, 2009
By James R, PhD (Maryland)

I normally like Gold Toe products, but the ankle elastic on these is so weak that there is no tension keeping the socks up. They slide down into your shoe with vigorous activity. Very annoying.

Great Quality Socks, February 21, 2011
By Robert Woolsey (Nashville, TN)
|
|
These truly are no show socks that manage to actually stay on your feet without slipping down at all during activity. I have washed them several times and they are holding up great. A great deal and perfect for sneakers.
For anyone who is a US shoe size 12, debating whether to get the regular or extended size, since a size 12 supposedly fits both, get the bigger pair. I am a size 12 and the extended size fits very well - nice and snug. I can't imagine how the smaller ones would fit.

Great Quality, True "No-show" Socks, February 11, 2011
By Joe (Orlando, FL)
|
|
I am always frustrated after purchasing "no-show" socks. Almost always, they definitely show between 1-2 inches above my sneakers. These don't. They are comfortable, a little bit thicker than I am used to, but barely show at all above my sneakers. Exactly what I was looking for. Will buy again!

Great general purpose socks, December 28, 2010
By David
|
|
For the price these socks get the job done. They fit well and are comfortable. I've been wearing gold toe as my general purpose sock for years and don't have a complaint.
The only issue I see with this particular line is that they seem to lack a the same thickness I've seen in previous years. However, after a wash/dry they shrunk up a bit and now feel like they have a bit more substance.

Great all-around socks, December 5, 2007
By Adam Rezner (California)

I bought these socks a few months ago, and while I've always been skeptical about buying clothing over the internet, my doubts were quieted when the package arrived and I tried these on. They fit great! I can wear them anywhere:to work, playing tennis, running, etc. They are just great all-around socks, and I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to buy some athletic-style socks.

Gold Toe is Quality, December 5, 2007
By amazonian shopper (TX)
|
|
Since I bought my husband a new sock wardrobe at the Gold Toe outlet a few moths ago he has been going on and on about these socks. They are the only socks he has ever owned that do not get holes in them right away (he is pretty rough on his socks). They stay very bright after washing, they are a good midweight sock, and they really last, plus they are apparently very comfortable. These are being offered at a great price so I ordered a few bags to replenish the collection when the dryer starts abducting socks.

Yay socks, August 9, 2008
By Larry Scroggins (Seattle, WA)

These are pretty good socks. I feel like the sizing could be a little better, but other than that I'm satisfied. There's a little padding on the bottom, which I interpret as making them good for exercise. Gold Toe is generally a pretty good brand, and I've never had any complaints.

Bad socks Bad customer service, September 18, 2008

I bought white cotton socks from a Sams club in MI. Every sock wore out in the heel after 3 to 4 wearings.I e-mailed and then sent a sock back to the company, and never heard a word back. If I am a example of how they do business,I would discourage people from buying their product-I never will again.

Socks are too loose, March 3, 2012

I wish I could give negative stars! These are literally the worst socks I've ever owned. They are very loose and fall off every time I take my shoes off. They feel like they fit my feet very poorly. My shoe size is 9.5. I don't understand why they didn't make the sock more stretch-y!

Gold Toe did not put their best foot forward, July 15, 2011
By B. Colonna (Somewhere in NJ)
|
|
I tend to buy Gold Toe socks whenever possible. I have always found them to be the most comfortable, well made socks available. I recently bought a three pack of pairs of Gold Toe "No Show" men's socks at a local retailer and loved them. So when I saw these six packs available through Amazon at an even better price I jumped all over them.
These ARE NOT the same Gold Toe socks you will find at several brick and mortar retailers. They are Gold Toe, and they look about the same, but the edge around the opening is slightly narrower than the ones I bought in the store. No big deal I thought - so they are sewn slightly different.
I have an average man's foot, about a 10 shoe size, normal width, etc. Typically I put on socks and they fit.
Simply put, these are absolutely the worst fit of any sock I have ever owned. They slid down off my heel repeatedly. I tried several of the pairs I bought (about 4 pairs out of 12) and they were all the same. They tend to slide around, not as if they are too big but just as if they aren't made right. They also are somewhat thinner than the Gold Toe 'No Show' socks I bought in the store.
I have a feeling the good socks I have are a Gold Toe 2247P. These are a model 656F. The 2247P may be very slightly higher on the ankle, but the difference in quality is like night and day.
What a disappointment. I returned them. Fortunately, Amazon is awesome and offers free return on may apparel items, as well as free returns when something is defective.
I'd avoid these socks, or take a chance knowing you can return them.

Excellent comfort wearing them, even makes my shoes feel different, October 16, 2011
By acidbasesalt

|
Terrific socks.
I thought I need to get new shoes because my shoes don't feel comfortable to me anymore.
But I was wrong, my shoes are fine, but rather because of my old socks wearing out.
The cotton in my old socks have gradually washed away after time and usage.
For those of you who actually do laundry, there is that filter that get rid of all of the dust/cotton/fibre thingy.
So eventually my olds socks feel more and more rough, and walking on carpet at home I couldn't feel any difference over time.
However, once I wear my shoes and start walking on uneven surfaces outdoor, the difference is clear.
The soles in the shoes can only do so much. The layer of socks on the feet are just as important as the soles.
Don't feel wasteful changing socks frequently, because they wear out quickly anyway.

Great Socks, September 13, 2011
By Leo Hsu (cerritos, ca United States)
|
|
These socks are great for the money. My feet sweat a lot, so they end up smelling towards the middle of the day, but thanks to these cotton socks, my feet are no longer smelling. They're still sweating, but the cotton absorbs the sweat preventing the stench. Also, the socks are still going strong even after 2 months of use. I'm still not certain when the elastic band will break and cause them to become loose. I'll advise later if i remember to.

I received these socks as a gift and have been using them regularly for nine months. All of the Gold Toe pairs that I own are still in great condition.
They're very durable as I walk around the house without my shoes often, they are comfortable in and out of shoes and they look great with shorts, unlike longer socks and most other ankle socks.
I will definitely get these socks again whenever I need new ones and I highly recommend them!

Like walking on marshmallows..., December 8, 2011
By Ross A. Smith (Fayetteville, AR USA)
|
|
These socks are honestly the best socks I have ever worn. Right out of the box they are incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, although still comfortable, they aren't super awesome after you wash them. They lose some of their extra thickness, bringing them down closer to what other sock manufacturers offer. Also, the socks shrink more than other socks I have purchased. These Gold Toe's seem very durable and I will probably own them longer than I have any other socks. I have purchased a second package and will probably continue with these being my main socks for some time.

A little small & thin., January 18, 2012
By Renée CK (Atlanta, GA)
|
|
My husband wears a size 12 1/2 shoe and we've finally started searching for extended length socks. We ordered these for him as spring is around the corner and he said they are pretty good. They fit him, but he said he can not understand how someone with a size 14 or 15 foot would fit in them, and certainly not a size 16. Also, he said they are thin. I told him that for summer wear, that will be fine, but I am concerned now about wear.
They'll do, but we won't buy any more.

Sock Standardization: COMPLETE, January 7, 2012
By Engineering PhD Student (Berkeley, CA)
|
|
I bought a pack of these socks two months ago to replace some old socks that had begun to wear through. I've been so pleased with them that I bought two more packs to replace my entire mismatched warm-weather sock collection - now I never have to search for a matching pair! So far I am very pleased, though I will update this review if I encounter any durability issues.
I got the 'extended size' (12-16), and they fit my extended size feet (US shoe size 13) perfectly. I use them every day with my Merrell Moab Ventilators (Merrell Men's J86595/J86595W) while doing a considerable amount of running, hiking, and cycling, and I have never encountered a problem with them sliding around. Perhaps the ill-fit described by other reviewers is just a sizing issue?
The entire sock is made of fairly thin cotton; the sock top is just this thin, breathable cotton liner, while the bottom, toe, and heel feature a thicker pile (looped cotton, like on a carpet or bath towel) for improved cushioning and absorbancy.

Lint Everywhere!, February 13, 2012
By Long Lam (San Jose, CA United States)
|
|
I bought two packs of these socks to replace my old ones. (I wanted to have only one kind of socks.) I chose the black ones because they look cleaner and suitable for various occasions. They are a little thin, but I already expected that. I must have clogged my shower drain the first 2 weeks I wore these socks because of the loose pieces of black fabric that were stuck to my feet. Whatever, I thought, it happens from time to time in some materials, and it will go away away after a wash. I was wrong. Every time I wear these socks, my feet resemble black Hobbit's feet after =(

Perfect! Very comfortable and not too tight!, February 10, 2012
By Bron (Mechanicsville, VA USA)
|
|
I like these low cut socks, but most of the "one size fits all" (usually 6-12 shoe size) that I've found are far too tight on my feet and ankles, cutting off circulation - unhealthy and uncomfortable. I wear a size 10 1/2- 11 man's shoe. These are a perfect fit. They are very comfortable, not too tight, and they do not cut into my skin like the smaller kind do. I am very happy to have found these. I have had no problems (so far, anyway) with them slipping or coming off/down, they seem fine. I hardly notice them which is exactly what I want.
The material seems fine to me as well. Not thick, but thick enough, and I very much like that the band around the top (at your ankles) is not a super tight noose, but just tight enough to do the job. The bottom part has enough material to be comfortable without being overly thick and seems of decent quality.
If I have any problems later, I will come back and post, but I am giving these a big thumbs up at this time.
20212-02-17 Update: If you like these and want something in the higher cut style, look here: Gold Toe Men's Cotton Crew Athletic Sock, 6-Pack - I tried them and they are equally good and not too tight.

Great Socks, Don't Show!, March 15, 2012
By TJ

I bought these socks so that I could have no-show socks for my low-cut Chuck Taylor's. They work perfectly, you can barely see them and they are very comfortable. I wear a size 13 shoe, but I actually opted for the 10-13 size sock, which is supposed to fit shoe sizes 6-12. I did this because I wanted a snug fit with an emphasis on very little visibility, and I was afraid the 13-15 would allow too much room and would ride up my ankle. I am not sure how the larger sock would fit my foot, but the 10-13 fit my 13 size foot perfectly - not too tight and no looseness.

JJ, March 1, 2012

I've heard these socks were the best quality and longevity wise. The socks are thick and I've had no problems with rips as of yet. I purchased black so I wouldn't see the dirt stains that stick on socks once you've had them for a long time. Sometimes they aren't a tight fit and might come off a little when I'm taking my shoes off, but it's not a big deal. Very comfy and warm!

A great value, never going back--, February 29, 2012

This was my first Gold Toe purchase, and by-god am I impressed. I've always been one of those sock shoppers who would go to the flea market or my local awkward superstore (*cough Walmart cough*) to buy the cheap low-cut black socks that I'd always loved. But here lately I'd grow tired of the cheap thin feel of those socks and figured I'd purchase some good ones. A friend of mine recommended Gold Toe socks in the mall, but jeez they were overpriced. Hit them on Amazon, got them in less than a week and spent nearly half the price on outstanding socks. Feel good, look good, and high quality material compared to the usual socks I'll buy.

A liner, February 29, 2012

It's a liner, not a thick stand alone sock. I wear them underneath my full thickness gold toe socks and they are really comfortable that way. They are very thin which allows my feet to move a little within my shoe. I'm on my feet all day in a factory and I quite like these as an accessory kind of sock/sleeve.Glad I bought the largest size, they are still very snug...I would say the sizing runs on the small side.

Extremely comfortable, amazing quality. They mend to your feet and are a pleasure to wear. Overall, defintely a buy, if you are willing to pay a premium for socks.

The best!, May 7, 2012

The Gold Toes socks are the only socks we buy. They hold their shape wash after wash. They are a little more costly than other brands, but well worth the difference.

Comfortable, perfect workout socks, April 10, 2012

I have a size 13 foot - usually if I buy XL socks they are way too big, and if I buy normal sized socks they wear out quickly. These ones fit perfectly from the start, and remain excellent after multiple washes. They have a nice padded foot bed with a thinner top to make sure your feet don't overheat.
As for white socks - I am going to buy only these socks from now on.
