About Speedo
In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn?t take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it?s manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange.

Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits.

Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland?s Inge de Bruijn.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  These do work well., July 20, 2006
By krys0100 (Minneapolis, MN United States)
As a syncronized swimmer, I have used almost all of the brands of noseplugs out there. These are the best that I have found. They stay on when your upside-down, jumping in and out of the water, and even usually stay on when i get hit in the face.
I've never had a problem with these, they keep the water out very well and stay on tight. If they are too tight or too lose, just bend it a little bit to fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  comfy and effective, November 2, 2006
By Markus Lofstrom (Seattle, WA USA)
I used these nose clips when diving for sponges off the coast of Belize. I was able to wear them for over two hours without discomfort. Not a drop of water in my nose. My only complaint is that the color is unattractive.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Would give 10 stars, July 10, 2007
By MoonHowler (Claremont, CA USA)
if I could. This nose clip works wonderfully. Seems unbreakable. Feels like it will last a lifetime. Comfortable but firm. The metal is very resilient, meaning it goes back to its old shape without bending. The other person who said it seemed like it would not last is wrong. I have used this every day for months and it does not even need rebending. Highly recommended. Before I used the plastic Speedo available at Sports Chalet. I had to keep rebending it to keep out water, and eventually it broke. By contrast, this one does not need bending. It is very firm. Can you tell I like it?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Nose Clip I've Found, June 16, 2007
By Ms. O. Khannah-Brown (Twopeas, WA)
*****
I'm not a swimmer, but I use this nose clip to keep the air out of my nose so that I don't taste the oil I drink on a special diet I am on. I need to have a very tight seal or I will be able to taste the oil. I have experimented with several kinds of nose clips, and this one is absolutely the tightest seal. It is very strong, but not uncomfortable to wear. I'd thought a nose clip with a silicone pad would be more comfortable, but for me it's about the same, minus the tight seal of the Speedo. Although it is not as attractive as many of the other nose clips, I need effectiveness most of all, so I stick with Speedo.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't work very well for me as another one did, May 15, 2010
By Angela (Burbank, CA, United States)
This is one of the 5 different nose clips I purchased in an attempt to locate one that fits. 1 out of the 5 work very well and another one works but has to be readjusted after a couple of laps. I think nose clips would fit everyone differently specially based on sex and race. I'm a female Caucasian with a small to average size nose. Also I read these reviews when I purchase something so I try to leave feedback when I can. This is only my opinion of the nose clips I tried. You might hate the ones I like and visa versa.

I purchased
1. Speedo Silicone Nose Clip
2. * Speedo Competition Nose Clip *
3. Tyr Soft Pad Swim Clip
4. TYR Ergo Swim Clip
5. Water Gear Synchro Nose Clip

1. Speedo Silicone Nose Clip
This one was the winner! I really like it. This was by far the best clip out of the 5 I tried. It stayed on my nose and kept it closed no matter how many laps I did. It was comfortable to the point that I didn't even notice it while swimming. No need to adjust it because it stayed in place. I see Amazon only sells it in packages of 10. I purchased it from [...]. Comes with a nice case.

2. * Speedo Competition Nose Clip *
This one sort of worked but not well enough that I didn't want to try others. It was probably the second best one but still I had to adjust it after a lap. I think if you had a larger nose it would work. You can adjust it a little but it really has to do with the rubber not really holding in place on the nose so adjusting it didn't help much. Since it didn't fit it wasn't very comfortable and very noticeable. I keep this in my bag just in case something happens to the Speedo Silicone Nose Clip.

3. Tyr Soft Pad Swim Clip
This one didn't work because it didn't clip tight enough for my nose and there was no way to adjust the fit. I think it would work very well if you have a larger nose because the rubber material grips the nose well. It grips much better than the rubber on the Speedo Competition nose clip. It was the only clip out of the group that floated. It comes with a case. Tyr Soft Pad Swim Clip

4. TYR Ergo Swim Clip
I really like this one when I first tried it but when I tried it at the pool as soon as it got wet the rubber wouldn't hold. It slipped completely off my nose as soon as I started to swim. If you're looking for a nose clip that you don't need to get wet this one held my nose close, stays on the nose, and is comfortable as long as I didn't get it wet. It comes with a nice case. There's no way to adjust the clip but its set tight so there's no need for me to adjust it. TYR Ergo Swim Clip

5. Water Gear Synchro Nose Clip
This one was the cheapest but it was also far inferior in terms of the quality of the materials used. The wire is thinner than the wire used by Speedo and doesn't hold its shape. I don't think this would work for anyone. Also didn't come with a case.Water Gear Synchro Nose Clip

5.0 out of 5 stars.  noseclips for freediving, October 21, 2008

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great nose clips, September 30, 2007
By coolmom (cincinnati, ohio)
I have been trying to learn to swim laps for exercise since my knees have been bothering me. I was having trouble because I never learned to hold my breath as a child. I almost gave up. Then I tried these and now have been swimming laps 4-5 times a week. I'm swimming a 1/4 mile (in addition to lifting weights) and loving it. I am increasing my endurance and couldn't have done it with out this tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not for short noses!, April 14, 2010
By Dorothy Gale
I am Asian and have a fairly short, flat-ish nose so these nose clips really don't work at all for me. I gave it 3 stars though because I don't think it's fair to judge them by my nose type since they work pretty well for my friends. But when it comes down to it, I can't use these at all (I've really tried multiple times) because the pinchy part comes down below the end of my nose when I try to put them on correctly. So they'll work for about a half-lap before they slide off. If you have a short nose like mine, I wouldn't recommend these clips. I use the case for my earplugs now!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The nose clips of choice for modified SLD, August 29, 2006
By S. Marsh (Dreamlands)
For reasons that are obscure, a fair number of people lose weight if they use nose clips. No one is sure why, but for the people who are using SLD methods, including nose clips, this brand of nose clip is the nose clip of choice. So far there are about forty people experimenting with nose clips, and for what it is worth, they seem to be losing weight best with speedo.

I'm nonplussed by it, but if you are browsing around for SLD method weight loss and have come to this advertisement, you've found the nose clips on Amazon that everyone else bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for its purpose, June 17, 2010
By Brent Butler (North Carolina)
I bought two pair of these for me and my wife about four years ago.

They are still in great condition. As opposed to cheap plastic clips you'll get in the sporting goods section of most department stores, these clips are quite comfortable to wear, and keep water out of your nose. I got them because we were both having problems with pollen that was floating on the water sending our sinuses into volcanic overload. With these clips on, that stopped immediately.

A+ product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Prob the best clip.. The tightest fit!!, January 23, 2008

The metal part is pretty rigid. It is pretty easy to bend or shape, but it is rigid enough after u bended it, holding on tightly to ur nose.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good while they stayed on!, August 7, 2008
By Suzanne Shourds (Philadelphia, PA United States)
I used this without any issue for weeks in an indoor pool, and they were doing their job very nicely! However, on my first open-water swim (a moderate current river) they fell off after about 300 meters. Good while they lasted, but sadly they couldn't weather anything rougher then a pool and stay on.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Does not work for me, March 23, 2008
By M. Gustafson (Central WA United States)
I am a "big guy", however have a pretty standard nose. I purchased this one and another one called Smileys (built for kayakers). Neither one would close my nose off completely and were uncomfortable to wear. I have sleep apnea and use a cpap machine. I am a mouth breather when sleeping and was attempting to adjust one of my masks to be used as an oral device, so I needed to "plug off" my nose to prevent air leakage. Needles to say I am still looking.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Worth 99 cents, March 9, 2009
By G. Anthony (Cleveland, Ohio USA)
Terrible product. I had several pair in the past but they have really cheapened this product. The wire is so thin and flimsy. The rubber wont hold to your nose. Every flip turn I do the pop off half down the lane. I suspect they are made in China. Disappointing coming from Speedo.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple, December 29, 2009
By Handy Guy (Pleasantville, NY)
It's a pretty simple device. I am a beginner swimmer and am using a freestyle snorkel so I don't have to worry about my breathing while I work on my stroke and kick. I use this clip since the snorkel doesn't cover my nose. The clip does what it is supposed to.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Uncomfortable initially but does the job quite well, November 12, 2009
By Rahul Garg (Hackensack NJ)
I'm fairly new to swimming and going under water for me is like hell since I almost always get water in my nose especially when I'm looking upwards. I decided to get this and while it was uncomfortable initially (I'd take it off after doing a lap) it does the job very well.

After using for a few weeks, I'm able to do many more laps before stopping for a rest so obviously I'm able to let it stay on for a lot longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Speedo Competition Nose Clip, March 5, 2011
By TK (Oklahoma City, OK)
For the most part, I really like this nose clip. I'm just a casual swimmer and this works well at keeping the water out of my nose. I don't have much of a problem with it coming off and, when it does, it's usually a case of user error. I have a latex sensitivity but have not had any issues so far. Originally, I was looking for a nose clip with decent ratings that was latex free but could not find one. I have been resonably happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Ultimately this ended up being my choice., January 28, 2011
By T. Wong (CA USA)
I went through a lot of nose clips. Most just ended up slipping or sliding on my nose once they were wet. They all felt fine when the face was dry. I had given up on these as I had the same problem with these like the others. My instructor insisted I try these again. I did and had problems but eventually got it adjusted to the point that these are the ones that stayed on the best for me. They aren't the most comfortable of the ones I tried but they stay on my nose and gives me less to worry about as most of the others I tried felt like they were going to come off.

I bought these for the swimming classes I'm taking. They work alright, but every now and then I have to stop and adjust them. Since I've never used a nose clip before, I'm not sure if this is a problem with all of them

Overall, I like it very much. I would and I have recommended this particular nose clip to friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Quality clip, August 19, 2010
By DK8905
When I first received this clip I was very excited. However I soon realized that I had no idea how to wear it. (I'm quite new to swimming) And the instructions were pathetic, the picture on how to adjust the clip was not helpful. So I simply typed in "Speedo Nose Clip" on google and clicked images, I found several pictures of swimmers wearing the exact clip and that's when I figured it out. Once I discovered the correct position I was impressed! Very Nice.

I use the nose clip for swimming, and like it. It is easy to put on and take off, and easy to adjust. The one big improvement that could be made, would be for it to float. I'm sure if I used this when I was a kid playing in the pool or beach I would have lost it by now.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Slips off, Not cute, July 20, 2010
By Rock Star (Alexandria, VA United States)
In addition to being a hideous color, these squeezed my already small nose to resemble Michael Jackson's non-existant nose. I was self concious to wear them and my boyfriend refused to look at me with them on. These helped a bit at first but kept slipping off eventually. I don't know where they are now. Probably at the bottom of a pool somewhere. :(

I bought this because I needed something to help me in the shower. I always kept getting water, shampoo or conditioner up my nose... and those nights I was completely stopped up, I could not breath at all. So I decided to get this Speedo Nose Clip, and it keeps my nose air tight, nothing can get up there. So now my sinuses no longer have to suffer from the water, shampoo, etc. And when I go swimming, I'll be sure to take this along with me.
