It was perfect for my need., May 9, 2010
By Ronald W. Springer (Estes Park, CO)

I needed to adapt the 2" hitch on my Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited to a 1-1/4" Yakima bike rack, and the rack had to clear the rear mount spare. The extension of about 4" from pin-hole to pin-hole was perfect - it allows about 1" of clearance from the tire to the vertical rack post.

Poor Quality Control; doesn't fit 2" receiver, June 6, 2011
By ALF Engineer (Colorado, USA)

This item was exactly what I needed to use my old Thule bike rack with a 1.25" bar in a new 2" receiver. The 1.25" receiver end fits the Thule rack bar; however, the 2" end that enters the vehicle receiver DOESN'T FIT.
The question is...is my new receiver small or this adapter too large? Several other 2" bars, old and new, fit my receiver perfectly so the evidence says the problem lies with this particular part. I used a micrometer and checked my receiver and this adapter. My receiver is exactly 2" square. This adapter is just slightly larger. It appears it may be a combination of the original bar stock being on the large end of its tolerance combined with the thickness of the coating. Although the method used to cut the bar stock appears to have slightly deformed the end that enters the receiver. Perhaps a quality control issue on the metal cutting or over-exuberance on the painted coating?
After seeing another reviewer with the same problem I resisted my immediate urge of grinding it down and instead returned this reducer.
If your receiver is slightly larger than 2", then this part may be an excellent choice to give you the tight fit that other reviewers commented on. However, if your receiver meets its specs then this part likely won't fit.

I needed an adapter for my 4Runner and my Thule bike rack. My 4Runner has the 2" receiver and the Thule bike rack is the 1.25 size. This adapter works perfectly, I have had no issues.

Good adapter, October 5, 2010

The Curt originally purchased was the wrong size. (too big). This adapter allowed us to use the installed hitch. Seems solid. Only wish the drilled holes allowed for a closer fit.

Great hitch, December 28, 2010
By Martin Blinn (Davis, CA, US)

Great hitch. Easy to install oneself. Took me 30min on my own with no special equipment. I didnt even had to remove any parts. The packaging was awfull. Box was gaping open on all sides. Luckilly they tape the nuts and bolts. a few scratches, but it is a hitch after all.

Adapter works well, July 29, 2011
By B. Muller

The adapter works well for converting my 1.25 inch bicycle rack to the 2 inch hitch mount on my car.
The only thing is that adding the extra device doubles up the play as ther is a little gap between each bar connection. Need shims of some sort (not included) to make the fit more snug so the whole assembly does not sway.

Just what I needed!, February 20, 2012
By G. Chan

I recently bought a Toyota FJ Cruiser and needed this adapter for my Thule bike rack, which was a 1.25" receiver that I used it my old car, and my new car is a 2". This adapter was the perfect fit and the extension was a plus. When my bike rack is folded up, it clears my spare tire perfectly. Couldn't been more happy!

Fits perfectly, January 5, 2012

I bought a 2011 F-150 and wanted my old bike rack to fit the new 2" receiver. After reading others' reviews about this adapter not fitting in their 2" receiver, I was worried but didn't see any better products out there. So I took a chance and bought the 4" long adapter. It fits my truck receiver perfectly, with just a tiny bit of wiggle room, and the bike rack fits great inside the 1 1/4" receiver. Plus it seems very sturdy, a nice solid chunk of steel.

Great, September 5, 2011

Well made, and well designed! Can insert it and pin it on both sizes with one lock. If you have a full sized hitch, and a carrier or trailer for one of those "reduced size" vehicles. This is the way to go
