1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not very satisfied, July 3, 2008
By LadyK (Florida)
I do not like this ball because it is filled with sand that sloshes around as you move the ball. It is very annoying. If the sand completely filled the ball, it would be acceptable. I think I would prefer a medicine ball-which is actually what I thought I was getting anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just the way I like it, January 24, 2007
By G. Choudury (Cincy)
No problems with delivery. At first it felt like a big hard block, then I remembered to inflate it a little. Feels great, exercises muscles in a very different way than regular weights. Have had it about a month, air pressure is holding up nicely.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Ok..some issues, February 13, 2008
By 6th grade teacher
I love the Valeo fitness ball, my only problem is that when it came it was extremely deflated and nothing like the image on the site. I wasn't expecting to have to purchase a pump to go with the ball. Would probably not buy this product online again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Thought it was like a boxer's ball, but..., January 16, 2007
By Joshua R. Groves
It's much smaller and is basically an elastic ball filled with a sand-like material. It's actually quite fun to just toss it around and all that jazz. Works great for working out as well!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not what it appears to be, February 21, 2009
By Rebecca (New Mexico)
This is a weighed fitness ball, but very deceptive by what you see. The ball is small - about the size of a cantalope - and full of sand for the weight. It is slippery rubber on the outside so you can't use it for certain exercises because it can slip out of your hand. We were very unhappy with the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  looks bigger than it is, August 9, 2009

Do not buy this if you are expecting a full sized medicine ball. This one fits in the palm of your hand

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very Durable, May 19, 2007
By J. Norcross (Baltimore, MD)
I purchased these inexpensive fitness balls for use as projectiles on a trebuchet. I've hurled these balls dozens of times, and none of them have suffered as much as a scratch. Their durablity is pretty impressive considering the balls sail 500 feet into the woods. I can't imagine anyone would have any problems with these balls when used for their intended purpose.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  5" diameter means 5" diameter, June 7, 2009
By J. Liu (Houston, TX United States)
It's obviously my fault for not realizing what 5" diameter means, but I was surprised to find this quite a bit smaller than I was expecting. This actually ended up okay (once I bought a medicine ball that was closer in size to what I was visualizing) because certain lifts work better with a small ball, especially one that be gripped with one hand.

The ball does need a tiny bit of air pumped in before use (a needle is provided in the packaging), but it is a little annoying to have the inner volume be 80% sand, 20% air, which you can definitely feel.

This is a very simple product and, paraphrasing the immortal Dennis Green, "it is what we thought it was" (just make sure you think it's a 5" ball).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  "Walk away the pounds", June 13, 2007
By ela-123 (Greenfield, WI United States)
Bought two of these to use with Leslie Sansone's "Walk away the pounds" DVD program. Works perfectly. I put a little baby powder on the balls to reduce the "plastic," sticky feel, and they are easier to hold and use than dumbbells. May be too large for small hands, but they fit mine great. Good quality materials and bright yellow color.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  What a workout juggling these balls!, June 7, 2007
By H. Silverman (NSB, Florida)
Perfect size to juggle with. Bought 3 to work with. It is quite a workout keeping these ball going. Have dropped them many times now...no damage to the balls themselves. Its a total body workout just to juggle the 3 balls for 2 minutes. Someday I hope to get up to the 10 pounders!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  DOES THE JOB, BUT A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED, June 30, 2011
By sdcaRN
I've owned this item for about two weeks and used it four times within this period. My disappointment is partially my own fault. I was actually looking for medicine ball when I ordered this and didn't realize that a "fitness ball" is not quite the same thing. BUT--for the price and purpose of my purchase, it fits my need. The fitness ball is much smaller/compact than a typical medicine ball that you would find in a gym. What I've learned is that with regard to size: medicine ball=basketball size; fitness ball=grapefruit size. Again-for the most part I can still use it for resistance in core strengthening. The item itself has a nice rubber coating around it for comfort in the hands, but can be a little slippery once you start sweating. This makes the textured surface and/or dual grips of a medicine ball advantageous. Also--the item can lose its round 'sphere-like' shape. It appears to be filled with a dense sand or powder-like material and can get lumpy, from my experience. If I had known what I know today, I wouldn't have purchased this item. Rather, I would have spent the extra $15-20 for Dual-Grip Medicine Ball by Spri or Body-Solid. As it stands today, I will most likely keep this one until I buy the Body-Solid alternative, as my research (and use of both above mentioned dual-grip medicine balls), leads me to believe that Body-Solid provides better quality/cost options. Thank you and hope this helps in your search!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great product for the price, March 9, 2011
By S. Grabowski (South Windsor, CT United States)
I have been to a number of local sports and retail stores and none could match the price and quality of this product. I am using it for one of my at-home physical therapy exercises to recover my loss of strength following a "cervical spine discectomy with fusion" operation. It has met my expectations 100%.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Smaller than Danskin 8# ball, December 17, 2009
By KZ (Denver, CO)
This ball was the same texture (smooth) as the Danskin DA-2638R 8 lb. Weighted Toning Ball but doesn't come with DVD video like Danskin includes. Feels like it has a sack of sand inside (typical to these types).

I like the fact that it was smaller in diameter than other 8# balls which made it easier to hold. Also unexpectedly came with the air needle in case you needed to firm up the ball.

Recommended if you don't need the DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good fitness ball for home use, June 15, 2009
By fro
This is a great thing to have around the house for the times when you can't get to the gym. The box includes a sheet with some sample exercises, which is nice when you are not feeling creative. I look forward to buying more in different weights.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for home use, March 28, 2009
By E. Dolbec (New York, NY USA)
This is okay, but a far cry from the medicine balls I use at the gym. Kind of slippery surface. The sand filling is a bit strange. You have to be careful not to inhale any when you are inflating the rest of the ball!

Also this is a pretty tiny one. I can easily hold it with one hand.

Not very firm when you lean your weight on it. Wouldn't be great for pushups.

But it is a great, cheap alternative to the real ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great item!, March 31, 2008
By In Total Creation (Upper Marlboro, MD)
Just be sure to check the size that you want in addition to the weight. I forgot to check myself and ended up with a ball smaller than I had expected. But... fortunately it worked out better that I had received the smaller size because it was easier to use with the type of routines that I am doing. Product is perfect!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  NOT FOR P90X2, February 26, 2012
By aliandchuck
The ad was misleading...these med balls are very small, no where near the size that I needed and was hoping for for the P90X2 workout. They may be acceptable for other things, but if you're looking for something for that, it's no good!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  More performance than value, August 9, 2011
By Bill Balzercyzk
This one is probably the more overpriced of the array and being so light, you'd wonder why. It is versatile though so worth having in the medicine ball arsenal!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Heavier than it sounds!, July 31, 2011
By C. Fisher (NM, USA)
Bought this cuz I was looking for a "light" weight to use to stretch my computer arms. :O I have RSI. Love the texture of the ball itself. Because of the repetitive strain injury I have trouble holding regular weights and this was a suggestion I saw on a Rheumatoid arthritis video.

4 pounds actually seems to heavy to start out with - both to my injured hands and the tight muscles in my neck and shoulders.

On the plus side, the texture of the ball lends itself to using for slight pushing and stretching of my fingers.

Plan to try a 2 pounder...

4.0 out of 5 stars.  No Complaints, July 2, 2011
By Finley Edwards
You get exactly what you'd expect from a medicine ball: Small, heavy and just right for workouts requiring an exercise ball. A bit slippery when you sweat on it, but I think that's to be expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for tossing around, June 28, 2011
By Sydney Jones
So far so good, has not punctured or leaked with the occasional drop or missed catch. Wanted something that would be fun to juggle around while watching TV, the 2 lb. is perfect minus the sand shaker noise it makes. Overall product was a good price and came as described.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Giant stress ball!, February 12, 2010
By Just My Opinion (San Diego, Ca)
I've never owned a "weighted fitness ball" before, so I'm not sure what I expected of it, but this particular one is pretty fun! It's a fun color (pretty true to what you see on your screen) and it's squishy! We like to call it the Giant Stress Ball, because that's basically what it is! It's the perfect size and weight to kind of mindlessly toss it from hand to hand, or back and forth with a partner. I think I'm going to get a heavier one to up the workout a bit, but this one is great too!

Perfect size to juggle with. Bought 3 to work with. It is quite a workout keeping these ball going. Have dropped them many times now...no damage to the balls themselves. 2 lbs is too light for me now so will purchase three 4 lb balls soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Fun!, May 27, 2011
By Dopaminergic
Yes, I'm very easily entertained. The ball itself is quite sturdy and easy to manipulate. What I enjoy about it most is that tossing it around does not really feel like exercise in the same sort of committed boring way that a lot of exercise feels. It's just playing around. The ball is light enough to mess around with for quite a while, but heavy enough that you get a bit of a workout with it. This is good to play with while you're watching T.V, or at the office while you are thinking or pacing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent for rolling against smooth wall, March 20, 2011
By S. Grabowski (South Windsor, CT United States)
I have been performing physical therapy exercises at home to regain strength in some muscles following a cervical spine with fusion surgery. One of the exercises I am to perform is rolling a ball clockwise and counter-clockwise against a wall with my arm extended. The ball is comfortable and does not slip on the wall. I have bought 4 different weights and have no regrets. The price was great as well. I would not hesitate in recommending this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Kids love it!, August 4, 2010

We never used it for exercising like it was intended. It does seem to be of quality and our 4 and 2 years olds love carrying it around. It has survived a lot of rough outdoor play and now damage.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Heavy Little Ball, April 4, 2008
By John Savage (Garland, TX)
I originally bought the weight ball for my wife, but find myself using this palm sized ball in ab crunches and triceps. This little ball is the perfect size even for a large man to add some extra weight while maintaining a closed hand grip posture.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazon miscatagorizes this product, April 13, 2011
By kalaloch (Seattle, WA)
Okay, so I should have read the wording more carefully, I thought this was a medicine ball. But I think Amazon should do a better job not including this product when I search "Medicine Ball", because it's NOT!

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect, April 3, 2012
By Kay1985
This is exactly what I was looking for. It's perfect for my core exercises. As for some of the negative reviews, I'm not at all bothered by the "sand" in it and I don't find that it becomes slippery when I sweat. I would definitely recommend this product.
