A ride along the California Coast, so easy to feel like I'm really there. Though my sample is just one minute of a 75 minute video it gives an idea of the style of these videos.
As an avid cyclist the first place I thought I'd really like to cycle is route 1 along the California Coast. I was not disappointed. What's nice is not only do you get coastal areas but you ride through interesting areas that you didn't expect along the way. The video is beautifully done and I felt like I was really there. I appreciate the video not showing graphics, pop-up information or riders in the video blocking my views as in other cycling videos I've bought. It's a great ride and I highly recommend it to cyclists for a winter workout.

Excercising in my home-paradise, May 4, 2005
By sumi-e artist (citrus springs Fl.)

Paradise.. I can excercise in my home - on my own time - see exotic foreign places and listen to really good music at the same time. Bike-o-vision has answered my prayers- Its really reasonably priced and satisfies me physically and emotionally. A wonderful way to excercise-Thank you Bike-o-vision!

does not like the hills, December 24, 2008
By cyclopath (hillsboro, oregon)
|
|
The problem with this indoor cycling video is that every time a hill is approached there is a change in scenery (to birds, sealife, etc.). There are some long downhill jaunts, but whoever edited this video edited out all of the climbs. There is frequently a sense of a hill approaching ahead and the suddenly, you are at the top of the hill. I would recommend this video for simulated downhill skiing.

Great ride, May 8, 2009
By Tweety (Miami)
|
|
Beautiful scenery and I get a great workout. I play my own tunes because the classical music is a bit slow and is not as motivating for me. There is no coaching but I am able to challenge myself so that is not an issue. I have Bike-O-Vision's Grand Canyon/Sedona AZ, Zion Nat Park/So Utah & California Coast which are all over 74 minutes. I am very happy with all the DVD's and would recommend them.

Fantastic! It was Big Sur, one of my favorite places to go and just as if I were really there!, February 17, 2010
By Bold Consumer (USA)
|
|
What a great idea! The quality is excellent and it makes exercising so much more pleasant. Some may not like the music, but that's easy to turn down. I thought it was fine, but I kept it low anyway because I didn't want to be distracted from the scenery.
I was skeptical about how (or if) this was going to work, but thought I would give it a try anyway. Then when it started and I was going across the Golden Gate Bridge, which I enjoyed doing once a few years ago, I was so pleased. It was just as I had remembered it. The scenery was so interesting to me that I forgot that I was getting a great workout. I couldn't take my eyes of the road and surroundings.
I almost went over to open the window to let in some of that sea air, but stopped myself just in time. It's Winter and somewhere around the 30s here right now, so that wouldn't be a good idea. Next time I think I'll turn on the ceiling fans. :)
I had forgotten that this DVD included Big Sur, one of my most favorite places! I felt like I was there. Even though I'm exercising on my treadmill, not on my bike, this is just a great way to exercise. I kept wanting to stop off at that little restaurant where the gas costs 10 times more than anywhere else in the country but you have to stop there because there's no other place to buy gas, and later I wanted to just take off down that little side road where people stay in little cabins.
I can't wait until tomorrow when I get to visit the Wine Country of California. Then I'm off to Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. I had a wonderful vacation there and sure hope it includes some of the places I enjoyed.
I want ALL of these DVDs, but I'm going to enjoy the ones I have right now.
Am I pleased with my purchase? YES!!!
EDITED to say that I came back the next day to do this one again, on my treadmill. I bought half a dozen others, but I wanted more of Big Sur. As you can tell, I love it. Tomorrow I'm going to make myself do one of the others, even though I could happily do this one again. I rate it as a 10 out of 10.

Wonderful Scenery, May 12, 2009
By Donna Knife (Forest Park, IL USA)
|
|
I love this DVD. The scenery is spectacular. All along the coast with the early morning mist rising to reveal the ocean. Or ride on the Golden Gate bridge. Any time you want to bicycle just put the tape in and go. The best way to stationary bicycle.

Bike-O-Vision, August 26, 2007
By Violet (Sacramento, CA)

I used these when they were VHS format - am very excited that they are available now in DVD format. They are great for keeping up your interest when using exercise machines. Perfect for cycling, treadmill, elliptical etc. Love the scenery. Never gets tiring or old. Makes me wish I could be in these places "in person". But this is the next best thing.

REALLY JUNK, September 5, 2010
By Dr. Larry Forness
|
|
The scenery is nice BUT, what makes this AND MANY OTHER Bike-o-Vision DVDs a TOTAL waste of money are the idiotic, invasive and stupid pop-ups -- you're "biking" along and then 1/3 of your screen gets filled with: "Here we come to a slight incline in the road." A minute or so later, you get: "Here we come to another incline in the road." A minute or so later, you get: "This road is mostly level, with only a few inclines." DUHHHHH!!!! Other Bike-o-Vision DVDs have such stupid pop-ups as: "The road veers to the right, here," and "The road ends, up ahead," just to name a few. If the producers wanted to make a cheap, stupid travelogue, then put it on paper, but NOT on the DVD to get projected onto my big screen TV. You don't go for a "real" bike ride and have some dufus heaving banners up in front of your face, so you shouldn't have it happen, especially where you have to pay for what you think is going to be a scenic bike ride. Save your money until somebody comes along who doesn't insist on interrupting your visual trip.

Virtual Cycling, April 3, 2011
By Carl Jones

Item performs better than anticipated. Quite please with it. Next best thing to being there.
Some damage to case -- probably in stocking -- resulting in a small scratch near edge of DVD that does not interfere with videos.
Will probably get more in the future.

Needs wider lens...more scenery, less road, January 9, 2010
By RugbyGal (Seattle, WA USA)
|
|
The concept is great - but it needs a wider lens and/or different editing. Too much of the time is spent looking at the road, with just brief glimpses of the beautiful scenery. Bike-O-Vision Cycling DVD #4 California Coast

Love this bike trip up the California coast, January 14, 2012
By Sandra H. Kennedy

This one of my favorite rides. The music is meditative and alternately pleasantly uptempo. The scenes are varied - ride along the coast high above the ocean, then thru some cities - a wonderful getaway.

Almost like being there..., November 24, 2011
By Elaine Rivet (Montreal, Quebec Canada)
|
|
All that's missing is the smell of the sea and the cry of the gulls. This bike video is a treat. Starts with a smooth crossing of the Golden Gate Bridge and then takes to the coast. Choose a direction or a preferred coastline: Santa Barbara, Sonoma, Big Sur, etc. and enjoy the view while pedalling at your own pace without worrying about what's coming around the bend or rushing up behind you. My bike sessions are longer and much more fun. I love it! Also bought European Sampler - visuals not as smooth and besides, it's hard to top the California coastline!

Where's the bike?, November 19, 2011
By Ron (Fallon, NV United States)
|
|
First, the bad. Bike-o-vision or car-o-vision? This was not filmed from a bicycle. I expected a cycling video, recorded from a bike, and for good reason. It's called Bike-o-vision. Second, the video quality is borderline terrible. It's not professional and it's not even from digital. This was done from an old analog video camera to tape, and maybe from years ago. Third, the case is cheap and my dvd was scratched-up due to sliding around loose during shipping. Fourth, it's pricey. 15 dollars for this? The good, besides the deceptive advertising and poor quality, it's better than absolutely nothing when indoor cycling. Check out Seek Out Cycling. The Colorado bike trail is a nice ride on film, and they are actually filmed from a bicycles.
