3.0 out of 5 stars.  Necessary piece, but if you ride a vintage bike, read this!, August 15, 2007
By Likes to Cook (Philadelphia)
This is the essential anchor to the bicycle that your rear rack will need to have a solid positioning on the back of your ride. It works beautifully once it's on..."once it's on" being the operative word!

I purchased a late-seventies English Racer (3 speed) to be my errand and basic bike for getting around the city. When I went to attach this to my rear rack, I found that there was no proper hole for me to attach through, and had to drill a completely new one! If you do not have access to a power drill, you may be in a bind!

I knocked off one star for the lack of proper hole, and another because I fail to understand why this is not automatically included hardware for the rear rack.

I will post a picture showing the location of the new hole soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Read the description carefully, January 31, 2008
By mogwins (London, UK)
Note: This is NOT the rack. It's a small bit of metal for more securely fastening a rack. Which you'll need to buy separately.

I realise the essential information is there, but when you've looked at 20 different rear bike racks, you start to go on the picture. In this case the picture is NOT of the product on offer: More than a little deceptive.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Just as described, works great, August 3, 2008
By P. Vizzini (Saint Louis, MO United States)
I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I was looking through tons of bike racks, too, and didn't have any trouble determining what this was. The only problem I found is that all the screws are the same size (short) so you need one long screw in order to attach to the bike frame itself. Very sturdy, well made. I found mine for $1.99 from Niagara Cycle Works, here on Amazon, but I can't find that listing any longer.

Also, this hardware does come included with the Wald #215 Bicycle Rack (though you're not given that info in the rack's listing). I bought this separately because I couldn't determine whether or not it was included with the rack. Good thing I did, because the bike I bought for my wife (Schwinn Ranger 24") was not compatible with the included hardware insofar as the attachment point on the bike frame was further away from the rack than it was supposed to have been. Since I had the extra hardware, thought, I simply bolted to two together to extend their reach and VOILA, perfect connection and even looks good.

Don't listen to the nay-sayers in these reviews. Their complaints aren't really even about this product for the most part.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bolts are to short!, June 18, 2008
By Neil
The bolts that came in the pack are to short to install on a common Schwinn mountain bike. They need to be about 1/4 inch longer to be useful. They must have been designed for a bike with a really thin frame. They also don't include a bolt to mount to the brake support. A new set of nuts and bolts aren't expensive to purchase, its just annoying that I have to make an extra trip to the hardware store to get what should have come standard in the pack. The only piece that is of any use is the bracket that attaches the bike rack to the brake post...which should come standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Seemed simple enough, August 22, 2010
By scaseyable
I own a hybrid Trek bike, so with the oversize wheel, I had to take the rack up to my local bike shop and ask them to install this for me. The bracket that came with the rack didn't extend long enough to reach my bike frame. The directions were completely useless, which I was aware of from previous comments. All in all, the bike shop put it on in 5 minutes and I was happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bicycle Rack, December 14, 2008
By Jimmy R. Finke (Brenham Texas)
This is a Excellent Bicycle Rack for what i did was i mounted a 2hp briggs & Stratton engine on it. This rack was very easy to mount and with the design it was easy to mount the briggs motor. My wife has a motor on her bike and with this Bike Rack there is no Vibration that's how sturdy and well designed this Bike Rack is.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice rack, wrong parts, September 28, 2011
By Alison Brenner (Oriental, NC)
This is a very nice, sturdy seeming rack. That said, the parts that were included were not the right parts. The screws were not the right type, and were not long enough, and the extension piece to connect the front of the rack to the frame was the wrong shape. Finally, even if the screws had been the right ones, there weren't enough of them. There were 3 when there are 4 spots that require screws.

I had to take my bike into one of the local bike shops to get it installed for an additional $15. No big deal, good outcome, but it didn't end up being QUITE as good a deal as before.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product but a bit expensive, September 28, 2008
By J. W. Koebel
Having gotten my hands on the product, I feel it's a little bit more expensive than might be justified, but it is constructed out of heavy-duty metal and mounts very securely. I've been able to carry a 40 lb. load on the back of it with no issues at all, and it does not have any interference issues on my bike.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not perfect., May 27, 2008
By Tech Gadget (California USA)
Very sturdy bracket but doesn't contain every thing I need to install a rear bike rack. I still had to visit the nearest hardware store for additional nuts and bolts to complete the install.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Short screws., October 5, 2011
By Yellow Trike Rider (Northern California)
This bracket comes with screws that are way too short to actually use to connect it to the bicycle.

Aside from that it is okay.
