Works as Advertised, February 24, 2010
By A. S. Donnelly (Denver, CO)

The main tool of the brush works just as advertised. Definitely for the money it is one of those must have items. The brush handle and bristles seem durable. The only minor complaint I would have is the bristles on the tail end of the brush. They are very thick and wide and don't do a great job of holding cleaner. Not a big deal if you are using the spay on type like Motex. If you use it with the Finish Line Grunge Cleaner, which you need to put into a container and apply with the brush, it is a little difficult to apply due to the brush not holding the fluid well. That is about the only minor complaint that keeps me from giving it a 5-star and something that is likely not a big deal to many users.

I have used this brush for many years. Brush work well on removing dirt, dust, mud, and even some caked-in grime. I have used it on chains which had to wrong lubricant applied and worked much better then a rag. If you can't soak your chain, this works well as a replacement.

Meh..., April 21, 2011

It helps a bit but if you are already using a quality chain cleaner or kerosene this probably won't help as much as you think. I used it to help with my chain but to be honest it didn't really do more than my shop rags did. I think the rags got more gunk off the chain after using the cleaner. The brush just rubs the grunge back into the chain. I don't know, I feel like I would save my money next time and use rags again without the brush.

Amazing... Chain looks like new, January 19, 2011

The hours of maintenance on my mountain bike does not come close to equalling the amount of miles I've put into it. It was a cheapy that I have not cleaned in nearly two years (I kid you not). So I've recently made up my mind to use some TLC on my bike because it has been serving me well. The first step was to get it CLEAN.
The long bristles on this brush easily gets into the tight spaces in between cogs and gears and derailleur springs, but the chain brush is what impressed me the most. Using just dish soap water and this brush to scrub the chain, I removed a LOT of a couple years worth of muck and rust, and the triple-brush configuration shortens the labor.Following up with proper lubrication, not only does it look good, but it's also no longer stiff like it was before it got cleaned.
Totally impressed, I'm looking at trying out more Finish Line products in the future.

Works well, but hard to keep brush clean, January 19, 2010

Never had a problem with the plastic handle breaking, but once you get the bristles really dirty they're very hard to clean off. Bristles, with shipping, cost as much as an entire new brush on Amazon (which can be had with free prime shipping).

Makes cleaning a chain MUCH easier., April 13, 2012

There are other chain type brushes, but this is easily the best I have ever used. Why? Well it just flat works and does a good job and is easy to handle. Used to be that I hated to clean my chain, which your bike needs to last. Now- well, it is not fun to do, but is a lot less of a pain in the biscuits. Yes, the bristles can be replaced so that you can reuse the handle for savings. A great product highly recommended.

Depends on the chain, October 7, 2011
By M. Brothers (Oklahoma)

For bicycle chains this thing would slide right on and scrub; for motorcycle chains(520 in my case) you'd have to force it to get it over the links. I trimmed the side bristles a bit, after which it would slide right on from the side and did a good job of cleaning(using kerosene as a cleaning agent).

Great brush, just didnt know it was for pedal bikes..., July 21, 2011
By LoganC

I know this one is more my fault than the part. This brush's brisels are to long to work well on a dirt bike chain, like a 520 size. The brush is a great design, I have had a few before. Just dont loan them out to your friends, they dont come back. If you are looking for the larger chain version of this, try "Simple Solutions The Grunge Brush RGB800" I guess my beach cruser chain will be grunge free. Hey amazon, can you correct this in the products title?

Great Brush, July 18, 2011

I use this brush every Saturday to clean the chain, cassette and derailleurs. Soak the chain in straight liquid dish detergent and a good brushing with this great tool. Rinse and blow off with compressed air. Dry Teflon spray on the chain and oil up derailleurs. Looks brand new again. Great brush.

Unique design for easy chain cleaning, July 9, 2011
By Charlie (MI, USA)
|
|
The Grunge Brush head features 3 bristle heads that allows you to clean all 4 sides of a bike or motorcycle chain very quickly. However, it is not as tight of a fit as I'd like on my factory DID V6 chain for my Ducati. The bristles are very large in diameter, so they're not likely to damage the O-ring seals on modern chains. However, I still recommend using a quality degreaser or cleaner in conjunction with the brush.
The bristles are easy to change in the event they need replacement, but my biggest gripe is that there's no easy way to store the brush. I have to zip-tie or tie a loop so I can hang it on the wall in my shop. It'd be nice if they designed that into the handle somewhere or made it a bit more compact. The straight end bristle isn't very useful other than for spreading the grime all over your motorcycle.
Overall: 4/5 stars

Much better than the average chain brush, August 9, 2010
By Russell J. Deible (Michigan)

I had a park chain brush to clean the chain and gears of my bicycle but this brush is much stiffer and easier to use, Having the bristles than go around the chain makes the job easier and more thorough. It is easy to use, and very well built. If you have a bicycle you need this brush.

Not for motorcycles, May 8, 2012
By David (Los Angeles, CA USA)
|
|
I was looking for a grunge brush for my motorcycle chain and ordered the first that popped up on the search. Little did I know, they had a version for bicycles too....
I bought the motorcycle version and it works like a charm. I'm buying a mountain bike next so I'm keeping the product, and I'm confident it will do a good job as well.
The brush tips are a bit hard to remove. Could use some improvement.

lacking in design, May 2, 2012
By Edward A Yu
|
|
Bought this for my motorcycle chain. Using it with a degreasing aerosol spray all that this brush did was smear the grunge back onto clean parts of the chain. Also, it takes quite a bit of effort to wrap it around your chain to begin with, not to mention scrubbing it back and forth--which wouldn't be an issue if it actually scrubbed the chain clean!
I finally just switched to paper towels, which did a much better job, and were a lot easier to use than the brush. A waste of money, really.

Must Have For Every Motorcycle Owner!!, April 17, 2012
By Steve

This grunge brush works great! Before, I would use a regular old toothbrush and rag, brushing and wiping one side at a time to clean my GSXR750's chain. Ever since using the brush, I just can't clean my bikes chain again without the grunge brush. It reduced the cleaning time tremendously and really did a better job and left my chain cleaner (Obviously combined with chain cleaner). The brush has a pretty good handle also which lets me hold onto it steadily as I have it on the chain while spinning my rear wheel to move the chain. I highly recommend this grunge brush to any motorcycle owner looking to make their chain cleaning experience better, faster and more efficient!

Very Useful Motorcycle Chain Brush, But Be Carefull, March 28, 2012
By How about actually using a product bef.. (Baltimore, MD)
|
|
This brush really helped with cleaning my motorcycle chain with kerosene. Then I got lazy, jacked up the bike, let it run in idle, and used the brush on the chain. This worked until the brush got sucked into the gear and broke. It was actually still usable after this since just one of the 3 brush edges broke off. Great brush, just don't be lazy like me.

good tool, February 9, 2012
By Jason P

This is a useful tool. It's nothing spectacular - but it does help me clean my chain of built-up gunk a bit quicker without taking the chain off. (I probably wouldn't use this if I had the chain off though) It gets in the grooves a whole lot better than just using a rag.

Brush for all your needs, December 27, 2011
By Lack Clonts (TUJUNGA, CA, US)

|
This chain brush has changed my motorcycle and bicycle cleaning routine tremendously. The first thing is the time. I've cut at least fifteen minutes off the time. When it takes 2hrs total that's a lot of time. Second the cleaning power of this brush is great. I make a single pass around the chain and I'm done. Its great at getting into the hard to reach places with the straight brush at the end of the handle. If you like clean and saving time this is a must have product. Thanks Grunge Brush Guys.

fits around chain nicely, scrubs well, October 31, 2011
By Larry M. York (State College, PA)

I used this with another Finish Line degreaser and it worked great. It only took me about 15 minutes to clean chain and 24 gears pretty well. I didn't take this precaution, but should have, but make sure to put down some newspapers or something!

Worked well for cleaning the chain., September 27, 2011
By Rosie (Edina, MN, USA)
|
|
The side of the grunge brush with the three brushes made for cleaning the chain worked well for me. I have only used it once so far, so I can't comment on its durability. I sprayed some citrus degreaser all over the chain as well as on the brush, cleaned the chain, wiped with a rag, and repeated once or twice. If you repeat it three or four times (on a really dirty chain) it will become VERY clean. Once or twice should be enough for average griminess. The other side of the brush worked alright, but isn't the easiest to really scrub with. It will get your drivetrain cleaner than it was, but not totally clean. I would recommend this product because it's very easy and quick to use and 95% effective.

Clean, September 27, 2011

These brushes clean your chain with little to no scrubbing with them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the average bike user. Nothing works better than the GRUNGE BRUSH. Yeah gasoline and a toilet brush works but this gets into the hard to reach areas. also safer for your chain too.

It works but splashes all over. great to clean cassette, September 25, 2011
By gs
|
|
Overall the product works as stated and does a good job of cleaning the muck out of the insides of the chain as well as the cassette. Though because its much harder to use than a simple rag, I would use it only when your cassette is really dirty or the chain rings need a real attack. (If you have waited that long, your chain and cassette probably are stretched and worn and need replacing anyways. - check it, I realized too late).
Cons:
# The bristles are not flexible enough and thus splatter the degreaser all over. Definitely do it outdoors or in a garage and keep rags handy to clean the bike after. Also wear rags.
# The slots to push the brushes out of their position are so incredible tight and hard to push through. I am a guy or above average strength and it was way too hard at times.
Good for professionals and shops.
