Excellent basic wired cyclocomputer, March 15, 2007
By Bernard Morey (Bulleen, Vic. Australia)
|
|
The BC906 replaced three cheapy Chinese-made cyclocomputers. Two lasted a year and the most recent I gave up on after 3 weeks. I then decided to buy a quality wired cyclocomputer - and the BC906 fitted the bill. I chose wired because I found wireless was affected by my flashing LED headlamp - the flashes were interpreted as speed when the two were adjacent.
I'm very pleased with the BC906 - it's accurate, easy to fit (no tools required), and highly legible. It's easy to set-up although the pictogram-based instruction book is not particularly easy to follow and could be better.
It doesn't have a backlight or ambient temperature - nice-to-have but not essential features. I chose it over a similarly featured and priced Cateye because the BC906 had a larger, clearer display.
Highly recommended.

Good cyclocomputer for recreational riders, April 30, 2010
By smith847be (Hanover, NH USA)
|

First, since nothing on this page seems to actually list it, these are the "9 functions":
- Total distance (odometer)
- Total time
- Trip distance
- Trip time
- Average speed
- Maximum speed
- Clock
- Current speed
- Comparison of average and current speed
If you're comparing this with the BC1106 11-function computer and getting confused, the two extra "functions" are total distance and total time for a second bike. The BC1606 adds sectional trip distances, a backlight, and cadence measurements. See this page for comparing the rest: http://www.sigmasport.com/en/produkte/bikecomputer/vergleichstabelle/
Overall, it does what it's supposed to and does it well. The numbers are big enough so that they're easy to read on a quick downward glance, and the adjustable-contrast LCD display remains readable in a variety of lighting conditions. There are three buttons, which actually makes the computer more intuitive. Upper left is "Set", upper right is "Reset", and the entire bottom of the device is "Mode". You should only ever need to use the big "Mode" button while riding.
P.S. Note to other reviewers: all bike computers are "difficult to install". That's why you only have to install them once. Like all other cyclocomputers, you'll spend at least 20 minutes trying to loop the wire just right, figure out how each piece actually attaches together, and setting up the computer for your wheel size.

Does it's job, August 16, 2008
By New Bike Commuter (St. Joe, MI USA)

I've put a few miles on this and it has been accurate and wasn't really too hard to assemble. Yes, you do have to keep the book in case you change your wheels or your tires and have to reprogram the sizes to get accurate readings, but this really isn't hard nor something surprising. I really like being able to see the average speeds along with how long it took me to go x miles. A good solid product. I even dropped it once with no damage.

Great product for the recreational biker, June 11, 2007

This is a great addition to anyone that want to keep track of how far and how long they bike. It is easy to install, and since I have installed it has required no adjustments. This unit keeps track of what you want to know. It is also very easy to check while riding.

Using it for 1 year on my BMW K75s K75 K75RT motorcycle for 1 year, July 5, 2007
By PaulC (San Diego, CA USA)

Update: 07-03-09 I sold my motorcycle and the cycle computer was still running great. I had an issue where the rare earth magnet that I expoxied to the brake rotor got loose. I reapplied more epoxy to solve the problem.
Update: 04-24-08 no problems except that it was not measuring speed correctly read 40mph at 70mph etc. Changed the battery and it is fine again.
Complaint: it is HARD to set up. I have to get the manual out EVERY time. The manual contains errors and I had to update it with a pencil.
Works fine even thought I park outside in direct sunlight.
I have been using this on my motorcycle after the trip meter stopped working. This required some modification and gluing the rare earth magnet to the front fork with epoxy glue.
The cycle computer has worked great and can read speads over 100mph, I have been told the max is 160mph. I've been using it for a year and it replaced the older BC800? I have put around 3,000 miles on it. No problems ever same battery so far.
Complaints:
don't throw your manual away. It is tricky to get in and out of the setup modes.
I wish it had a light for night time with a 5 second delay so I could push it and read it then it would go off again. It is the most reliable part of my motorcycle.

An obvious addition to your bike, November 2, 2009
By Luc Saint-Elie (Paris, France)
|

I've used various bike computers, the BC906 is a basic (basic but enough) strong, reliable, easy to set up model.
The BC906 as only one drawback: the manual as been written by some kind of sadistic psychopath. On the other hand, setting it up on the bike is a 5 minutes process (configuring settings requires some zen lessons, but once it's done it's done, so...).
Under all other aspects, the BC906 does want it pretends to do : give basic data about your ride in a very reliable and precise manner (i checked for example the distance with a GPS.. perfect).
Display is easy to read (even if switching from one display set to another while riding is not that easy, because the button is small and requires a strong pressure).
On the reliability department, my BC906 as never had a single problem (I've had numerous problems with wireless computers, the wire seem to be a better solution when it comes to reliability) I even use it under the rain without problem.
For those living in an area where thieves are a problem, the computer is very easy to take away from its dock, and is very small so very easy to carry on..
My conclusion is simple : for a lot of people, and considering its low price, the BC906 is de facto requirement for a new bike. For those with a moderate sport approach it's convenient to have data such as speed, average speed, distance and so on, and even without any sport approach, it's pleasant and useful to know what distance we have covered, to have the time right in front the eyes without needing to try to see the watch on the wrist and so on.

Bike computer BC906, December 28, 2008

The good. Easily readable display, quick and simple setup.
Could be better. Speed resolution is 0.5 mph. Uphill, at low speeds higher resolution would be good.
I'd like to see the trip time and trip length on the same screen. If you want to see the other, then you end up paging through all modes before you return to the original page.

Great German Quality, February 25, 2009
By Out of OC (Newport Beach, CA)
|
|
This is my 3rd Sigma and Ive only had great experience with their cyclocomputers. Easy to install within 30 minutes and option to have on stem or bar. Chose the stem like many of the pros. No tools are needed just elastic bands and a plastic tie for the wire down the fork. Easy to read and the buttons are very easy to access. Readouts seem accurate and the arrow up or down to show you where you are on the average speed is great.
Only gripe is when to reset for another ride you need to reset each reading (trip time, average speed, fastest speed...) in my past sigmas, I reset the trip time and it reset all the other readings.

Sigma BC 906 Bike Computer, February 13, 2009
By R. Eicker (Los Angeles, CA)
|
|
Sorry, I cannot agree w/ the reviews. I am returning this bike computer.
Reason: This computer has cancelled out the trip distance every single time. Not once have I seen the milage biked. The distance biked jumped to 35 miles after a brief stop when I had biked only abt 11 miles. The O-rings attaching the bike computer to the handle bars are pathetic to put it mildly. If they break, the computer probably will hit the pavement.
Not recommended.

Excellent after purchase support, December 6, 2008

The speedometer was very easy to install and set up. I did have a problem getting the remote sensor magnet to communicate with the computer so I called the toll free support phone number. I talked to Bryan who helped me figure out what the problem was and how to correct it. Problem solved and the speedometer is working great. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a bike speedometer

Awesome Speedometer, July 14, 2010
By E. Ford (Cheyenne, WY)

First you can't really beat the bang for your buck. Takes only 5 minutes to pop on. Only complaint is the manual isn't very helpful but you can figure it out if you stare at it long enough. The multiple features it has includes items that every bicyclist wonders while on a ride; Speed, Distance, AVG Speed, Trip Time, Time, etc. Display doesn't take up to much room on the bike and the display is easy to read, while riding.

Sigma BC906, September 27, 2009

This is the third BC906 I have bought to install on motorcycles. This is a very handy solution to the terribly inaccurate speedometers on almost all motorcycles. This unit is easy to use once you get it set up. To me, the setup is counter intuitive but that may be because I an 59 years old. I am sure younger folks may have no problem.

BEST ON THE MARKET!, May 11, 2009
By Duane (MN)
|
|
I have tried a variety of bicycle speedometers and Sigma is the best by far. Instaltion is not a problem if you follow the directions or have prior experience installing other bike speedometers. The display is large, clear, and flawless. The power cord from the speedometer to the wheel area is larger than the Bell's and less prone to breakage. What I like most about the Sigma is its accuracy. I would recommend that you use the wheel size instructions in the directions booklet as a starting point and then check your settings over a known distance. You can then tweak your numbers for the extreme accuracy you desire. The best thing I can say about this unit is that it is quality at a reasonable price!

Multi purpose, January 31, 2009
By Sport Rider (USA)
|
|
I bought this for use as an R/C heli main rotor tach. All the sigma range can go up to 200kph, and can accommodate a wide range of wheel sizes.
You also find motorcyclists using them as speedos for that same reason, and I have one as the readout on a storm-chasing type anemometer - so they're pretty versatile!
As a bicycle speedo, it has a great clear readout, is nicely made with a good mounting system, and the magnet is strong so it's not overly sensitive to the air gap between the sensor and the magnet. Sigma definitley make quality, reliable units.

Works great...for a few days, July 21, 2009
By Timothy Brown (Bellevue, KY)
|
|
For the price, I expected something that lasted more than a few days. But nope.
For starts, the round shims that attach the cord to the front of the frame will break when you try to use them, so you have to use duct tape. For another, this speedometer will start working only sporadically after a few days. After 2 months, it'll rarely work at all.
Don't waste your money.

By Flojo93 (Brooklyn, NY)

I basically like this cyclometer, especially the readout which is large and easy to read. However, scrolling through the functions is a bit of a pain. But the real problem is that the wire is SO flimsy. One broke shortly after I purchased this item so I ordered another one (actually the whole connection setup) directly from Sigma for around $12. Yesterday it broke again while out on a ride, so I'm getting rid of the thing completely and going wireless. I had a Cateye forever and this lasted around 6 months.

Excellent Bicyle Computer with Basic Functions, April 6, 2011
By HiggsBoson
|
|
Although this is a bare bones cycling computer, it provides the necessary functions to monitor your speed, distance and elapsed time for a ride. Legibility, visiblity and contrast of numbers is excellent. The mounting attachment to to the handlebars is simple and the attachment and removal of the computer to/from the mount is trouble free. I recommend upgrading the magnet (purchased as a separate accessory) to the larger and more powerful one. Spare o-rings (pack of 10) can also be purchased separately.

this thing works well, it is pretty easy to install.
my problem has been that the parts frequently come off of my bike or slide out of place.
i was in a fifty mile ride last weekend, and it stopped working on mile 30 - i couldn't get it back in place and i couldn't measure mph or anything for the rest of the ride.

Works Well, But One Important Flaw, August 21, 2010
By B. M. (USA)
|
|
The computer snaps into the handlebar mount bracket by twisting it into place. The problem is that it doesn't snap very firmly in place. I've already had it fall off and hit the ground once simply by lightly brushing my hand against it. Fortunately I was stopped when it fell off. I'm looking into thinking of a way to make it snap more tightly in place such as using tape etc.
Other than that, it's a great unit. The display is crisp and clear from all angles with an adjustable contrast setting in the menu. The manual leaves a lot to be desired. The font size is big enough to read comfortably while riding.

The Speedometer is Nice, The Manual Needs to be Re-written, July 18, 2010
By J. blake
|
|
It has taken many hours over many days of tinkering with this speedometer to get it installed and working on my bike. It is finally working and it does everything the description claims.
The main problem was the alignment between the sensor and the magnet on the spokes. There were two issues stopping the device from working.
Issue #1
The distance between the sensor and the magnet. The manual claims that 5mm or less is good. That was not the case for me. I almost sent the device back thinking it was defective. I am one of those people who love a mystery so I decided to tinker with it a little more. I noticed that I could get the speedometer to recognize a signal if I moved the magnet over it slightly brushing the sensor. This told me that things seemed to be working and it was just a matter of getting the distance closer. You need to get the magnet as close to the sensor as possible. The thickness of a sheet of paper is a much better guide than 5 mm.
Issue #2
The sensor and the magnet should be parallel. Spokes are not generally parallel to the fork tubes. I had to make a small rubber wedge to put under the sensor to bring it parallel to the spokes. I also managed to brake the rubber o-ring after many test fittings. A hair braid band made a good substitute for now.
After all this tinkering it works great and I am very happy with the results. I have also ordered the stronger magnet just in case I need it but, it looks like I may be okay without it.

This is an okay computer for the recreational biker. I am giving it four stars because the manual is not great and so set up was a little difficult to start. Also, the o-rings provided are not very good and the one holding the sensor broke before I even got my bike off the rack - I replaced it with a hair band and it seems to be on good now. Otherwise it functions good so far and the screen is easily viewed while biking.

A solid piece of equipment after a month of use, January 27, 2009
By John (NC, USA)
|
|
The speedometer does exactly what you ask of it- no more, no less. It is relatively easy to install. however, when i put the part that anchors the computer onto the handle bar, i used a bit of adhesive to stick it to the handle bar to make sure it wouldn't fall off if i torqued it too much. The computer itself was easy to setup. it is easy to operate, the big fat button at the bottom lets you toy around with it while riding. i recommend this, especially for the price, but in the future, id like one with a temperature sensor.

solid entry level computer, August 22, 2011

Good for any starting cylcist and even the seasoned pro who wants a simple, efficient, and easy to use device to track performance. The older version of this device included visible total miles (while riding) which truly isn't necessary but I found that I missed it. The fact that it is not wireless is also a bonus because in my oppinion the wireless devices are more prone to problems. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.

The Sigma was easy to install on my bike and works perfectly (if you install it correctly). It has all the features i needed and was very good price wise, i have had no problems with this product it attached to my bike easy and nothing has fell off or malfunctioned.
If you want a cheap bicycle computer that gives you the basic information you should consider this Sigma, all i use on it is trip distance, Max speed and average speed to keep track of my physical recovery but it has a few more modes.
This is a purchase that i have been happy with.

Serves intented purpose, November 29, 2010
By bonusmoshpti

For the price, I couldn't ask for more. This is a simple 9-function speedometer that keeps track of everything I want to know. Honestly, if you're a serious cyclist, you do not need to worry about anything more than speed and distance anyway, but time, average speed, max. speed, clock, etc. are nice features to have.
A convenient option is the total distance on the meter which is good for letting me know how many miles I have on the tires, but total time is a useless function and although it does not hurt the product, is not something to flaunt. My only gripe is the current speed meter. Do not let the picture fool you, it is not accurate to the tenth of a mph. It will only show the mph and a half at best (ie: 15.0, 15.5, 16.0, etc.).
If you're debating between a wired or wireless computer, save the money and get the wired meter. I've used both, there really is not advantage to a wireless one if you take the time to tightly wrap the wire around the brake cable. Others will complain that the flashing LED lights interfere with the computer which is another reason in favor of the wired meter.
This is an overall good product from an American company. I've dropped it numerous times, including a few times at high speeds when I didn't have it completely secured (my own stupidity, the mounting bracket is overall very secure) and it works fine, with minimal scratches on it.
My only other problem with it was the poor mounting bracket for the sensor on the fork. I'm sure on a road bike, it would not be a problem, but with the large diameter fork of my mountain bike, the small rubber ring used to secure i would not fit around my bike's fork and I had to makeshift a mounting strap with wire ties. Otherwise, the installation was easy and the instructions were very well written, including pictures (which is very helpful).

Does exactly what I expect, and easy to mount, September 30, 2010
By Gadget Guy (Baltimore, MD)
|
|
I am so far 100% satisfied with this purchase. I really couldn't be easier to mount, and use. For 20.00 I got exactly what I wanted. It has worked flawlessly the two times I have used it and it helps push me on my bike rides. "Oh, I've only ridden 2 miles, I need to ride farther." "oh, my average speed was only 9 mph, I wasn't working as hard as I should have been"
I don't have much more to say, other than it works perfectly, is easy to setup and use, and the sensor on this particular model doesn't need to be as close to the magnet on the spokes. 5mm versus 2mm. Spokes are at a decline from the hub of the wheel to the outer rim, so if you can get a device that doesn't need such a tight clearance between the sensor and spoke magnet, it might work better for you.
The lack of need to get the magnet so close to the sensor was a big reason why I bought this unit. That and the 20.00 dollar price tag in a non-Chinese company.
Mark :)

shim it out, tie it down, September 26, 2010
By Rohn S. Bayes (San Antonio, TX USA)

At first it worked then it didn't work then it did. I put a small piece of thin rubber under the sensor on the fork to shim it out closer to the magnet. It seems happy now.
Today it popped out and was lost somewhere on the road :( Although I like the computer it's not connected firmly to it's base and heavy bumps will jar it loose. Almost jumped out once before, I should have taken notice and plastic tied it down.

Sigma BC906 Bike Computer/Speedometer, September 17, 2010
By Retired Military Officer, Retired .. (Near MCAS, Cherry Point, NC, US)
|
|
I have owned several brands of bike speedometers. This is the best I have owned. It has sufficient functions, yet is not overly fussy and elaborate as many are. The biggest plus is the number displays are simple, uncluttered, large and easy to read. Installation is about as complicated and difficult as any of the others, (in other words, a royal pain in the neck). I would definitely buy this product again. My only reservation is that when idle, the unit displays the time. Not sure if this tiny use of the battery is significant or not, but a 5-minute blank display would be nice.

GREAT PRODUCT FOR ALL BICYCLE RIDERS, August 23, 2010
By Olin C. Coffman (POQUOSON, VA.)

I was interested in locating a digital speedometer and odometer for my bike. I did a lot of searching and read many reviews. This speedometer was my final choice. It is easy to install and set-up. The feature that I like most is the total distance in miles that I ride on each trip. I have a 26" Colombia bike. Installing the sensor was quick and easy. With a few minor adjustments and riding a known distance course I was satisfied that the set-up was accurate to <.01 miles.

Ease of setup and good legibility make it a best buy, October 30, 2009
By David Bradford (Cary, NC USA)
|
|
As an older rider, I appreciate that the display is easily readable without reading glasses. The unit is also much easier to set up than the Cat's Eye cycle computers I've wrestled with previously. This one is also easy to install, and stays put even on tapered handlebars. I highly recommend this unit, especially given the very resonable price.

It works pretty good. I'm totally sure about the accuracy of it. It's close, but maybe not spot on. the rubber bands could be a little bigger. the one for attaching it to the stem was too small. but other than that, I really like it.

NIce Little Bike Computer, October 7, 2009
By D. Boucher (Andover, MA USA)
|
|
The Sigma BC906 is a nice, inexpensive but very functional bicycle trip computer. This is the second one I've bought. The display is nice and easily readable. The unit runs forever on one battery and provides all of the basic information ( speed, distance, time) for monitoring your trip or amateur bicyclist training ride. The only problem with this unit is that it sits in a simple bayonet lock on its mounting pad. The bayonet lock makes the computer easy to remove when you have to leave your bike unattended but it also makes it easy to fall out of the mount in response to severe vibration or shocks. Lost my last one while transporting the bike on the back of my car(with computer mounted)during a 30 mile normal highway trip.
Good value for the price but be sure to secure the computer in its mount else in may fall out at an inopportune time.

Good choice, October 4, 2009
By Robert Owen (Minneapolis)

My wife and I each have one of these. Accuracy is pretty good; after a long ride we both are showing pretty much the same mileage. They also had mileage close to what a GPS unit showed.
We've had no problems with durability or function.

a good deal, September 28, 2009
By D. Papaioannou (Philadelphia, PA)
|
|
I use this speedometer every day and it works perfectly fine. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it loses 1 star since the rubber rings provided with the product were small for my bike tube diameters so I had to find and use other and larger rubber rings to attach it on the stem and the front suspension.

Great for what you are paying for (in my case, at least for 8 months), September 22, 2009
By Martin Robles (Monterrey, NL MEX)

This is a great beginner cycle computer for someone who wants to take his(her) rides to another level. This was my first cycle computer and I love it until it last.
Pros: easy to install and set up, even for a complete newbie as I was at that time. Easy to read. Nice functions for the price you pay.
Cons: As someone said, you simple can't read it at night unless you are under a light or something. (In particular I didn't find this too bad as my rides where almost always during day light)
The End: After 8 months and more than 1200 miles (remember I'm just beginning!) the upper line of the 906 just disappear. I didn't get mad, I think it last enough for me.
Funny: The upper line disappear the same day I order my SIGMA BC1606L CADENCE DTS Double Wireless Bicycle Speedometer, not kidding, the same day!
If you want to give a newbie a gift, this is perfect. I already did it once. I think is the perfect cycle computer to get into a more advanced cycling, and If you like to track your performance you'll probably upgrade to a better computer after 8 months (may be sooner).
Have a nice ride!

Great little unit, August 19, 2009
By DA Jackson (Colorado, USA)
|
|
This is a great unit for someone who just wants something that works. It isn't fancy, but it will keep track of your trip time, average speed, top speed, total distance traveled, total time, and a few other nice functions for a very good price. I ride a SEC Giant Mountain Bike and just wanted something to keep track a little better of what I was doing on the trails. Install was easy, setup was easy, and it's been going strong ever since.
Only words of caution on the unit are regarding the ties/bands that they include: if you have larger forks, keep an eye on them because my bands broke after the first day and the ties couldn't even fit around the forks, so make sure whatever you use to replace them is reliable (I just used rubber bands and some larger ties just to make sure the reader wasn't going anywhere, works great so far).

Good, Simple Speedometer/Computer, August 16, 2009
By Two Dimes (Fairfax, VA United States)
|
|
Certainly not the most sophisticated computer out there -- thank goodness.
I had a much more complex computer on a previous bike that could do my cadence, had rear wheel pickup, and all kinds of options -- but it didn't make my ride any more enjoyable. This unit covers the basics for a trip (distance, time, avg speed, max speed) and that's really what I'm most interested in. (Get your head out of your computer and enjoy the ride!!)
Mounting is simple (you'll have to adjust the mount if you want stem mounting instead of bar mounting). The computer body itself twist and locks into the mount easily, and then comes off when you need to pocket it. Spend a little time setting the spiral of the wire down your brake cable and you'll have not flopping wire. Use the longer provided tie-wraps for securing the wire to larger objects (like forks) but use some of your own to trim things up and make the installation a little cleaner.
I set my tires by taking off my front wheel, marking the tire, and rolling the wheel down a wide metric steel tape measure.
With this low price, I have no problems recommending it to recreational riders who just want a little more info.

Very good, August 7, 2009
By Gary W. Sharp
|

Great little device. I bought one for my wife and I. We ride our mountain bikes all over town and single track as well. Over a 10 mile ride our difference in mileage is about .25 miles so I'd say they're pretty accurate. Just have to get your wheel size adjusted correctly.
I like all the settings it has, it even keeps total odometer and total time since it was installed.
Very good value, no complaints.

very nice and easy to install, August 4, 2009
By Schwartz (NY)
|
|
I bought this because it was cheap in price and had all the functions I wanted. It does all that I expected. If you can program a digital watch you can set this computer up. The set up was easy and once set up you just have to remember to press the top right button to reset whatever function you are on. The bottom button is to change the function you want to access such as trip time, av speed, fastest speed, etc.. Putting the magnet on the wheel was easy and installing the computer on the bike was really easy. The only problem was their list of inches to enter for the wheel size- so that you could set up the computer. For a 700x23 wheel the wheel inches they had on their list was erroneous and it was actually for a 700x28 wheel! I used the old method of tape measure on the floor while moving the wheel forward to measure the wheel size.

must read again and again, June 11, 2009
By flat proof biker (Brooklyn, NY usa)
|
|
Easy to install, that's easy, but I could not get it working, read the manual over and over, still did not work. I then gave up, took a break for a few hours. Then I reread page 1 and did the 90 degree twist then it worked for me! and the Sigma Logo must face the front of the bike as stated.
programming it was easy to do, setting the wheel size it was easy, but you must read it over and over to understand what they are trying to tell you.
as in if you have 27 x 1.4 tires your wheel size is 2.199

Very dependable and accurate, April 16, 2009
By Durango (Alpharetta,Ga)
|
|
I purchased the Sigma Bc906 because the Bell unit that i had installed
was very erratic. After mounting the Sigma to my motorized bike it was
very accurate and dependable. I tested it by riding towards a roadside
radar display, and the Sigma matched the speed shown on the radar display.
I did have to reprogram the wheel dimensions twice, but after that it was
right on the money! Can't beat it

I have had this item for about 3 years now, and can say I am fully satisfied. I was looking for an inexpensive (less than $30) cycling computer, needed something that could tell me time, speed, trip distance, average speed... and found this beauty.
You won't be disappointed with this cycling computer!

SIGMA is garbage!!!, July 28, 2010
By Benny J
|
|
This thing is poorly constructed and works when it wants to. It worked fine for the first couple weeks and then quit. I replaced the batteries but nothing worked on it except the clock and the stopwatch. I ordered another and it worked fine for about a month and then everything stopped working.I read review after review with people complaining of the same issues. I will NEVER buy a SIGMA product again.

Fantastic Product, May 29, 2010

This product works perfectly and is fun to use. I bought it because I had to keep a certain speed (over 12 miles per hour) and ride for a certain length of time for weight watchers (36 minutes at >12mph = 5 points). I think it was pretty easy to set up - you just enter the size of your bike wheel. I couldn't recommend this product enough!

Excellent Basic Bike Computer, October 13, 2011

It's easy to install, easy to see, and has all your basic functions. The only thing I wish it had was a scrolling function so you don't have to hit the button every time you want to see something else. For the money, I think it is an excellent product. No problems so far although I only have about 50 miles on it.

Great, April 11, 2012
By Max

I read the negative reviews but I have never had any of those problems with this computer. It's worked well for me for several months, including through the winter, although on really cold days it didn't work. I think the battery was too cold because once it warmed up it worked fine again. The only bad thing I can say about it is the way it attaches to its base on the bike could be better designed. I've accidentally knocked it off a few times when turning sharp and had to turn around and look for it. It has hit the asphalt a couple times and still works fine, though.

Easy to install and a great value, March 8, 2012
By Shep

|
So my new Sigma arrived in the mail yesterday, which was pretty quick and with free shipping! Anyway, this thing was a breeze to install. I left the instruction book alone and just went to youtube and there is a video there made by Sigma (I think) that shows you very simply how to install it. It's not this particular model, but it's exactly the same installation. I had it installed in about 10 minutes because I had to spend a few extra minutes figuring out how I wanted to route the wire down my bike and the fork. Then I broke out the book and watched another video on how to measure the size of your wheel/tire. I used the tried and true "roll out method" which can be done a few different ways. Either lay a measuring tape (one that has mm on it was well as inches) on the floor, mark a spot on your wheel or tire and simply roll the wheel around one revolution. Then calculate how many millimeters. Simple. The other way is to put a chalk line (thin one) on the actual tire, take it outside and roll it a few revolutions and then measure the distance between chalk marks on the ground. Again, simple. The computer was easy to program, and unlike a few other reviewers, I like the fact that each feature can be reset individually. What if I got up to 50mph on a downhill and wanted to show that off to someone? Anyway, great bang for the buck. Super easy install, fits very securely to the bike, and was well worth the money.

sigmaspeedometer, January 15, 2012

for the price it's a great speedometer. keeps track of all your stats very well. my only complaint is that it gets confused wether you are going forwards or backwards easily (the little arrow points in the direction it thinks you are going), but that defect does not effect your total distance or trip distance. the other complaint is that the speed is only read with 2 readings for the decimal point. .0 or .5. but for the price this is a great reliable speedometer.
im on my second one of these simply because my first one was stolen because i forgot to unclip it from my bike. (it has a nice twis and pull system to remove the computer when you park your bicycle somewhere).
