Link belts on my Powermatic 66 table saw., November 19, 2009
By Eric Barnhizer (Palm Beach Gardens FL)

I replaced the standard "V" belts on my Powermatic model 66 (3HP) table saw with the Fenner link belts. The saw uses a pair of belts 3/8" wide by about 20" in length. [The belts run side by side, on double groove pulleys.] Fitting the belts was very easy. First by making the 2 belts from the 5' length, then installing them on the saw. I was pleasantly suprised to see how 'equal' in length both belts ended up, as both had near equal tension after adjusting. Better than the previous "V" belts, which one was tight and the other one loose. [Typical]
After some experimenting with tension, [These belts don't need much tension, they work well slightly 'loose'.] I have found these belts to be much quieter, and smoother running than the "V" belts they replaced. There is virtually no noise from the saw, except the whistle of the blade. Vibration is non existent.
As my other machines need belt replacements, they will be replaced with Fenner link belts. And finally: Purchasing through Amazon went perfectly.

Absolute must for reducing vibration, December 15, 2009

I bought this belt to replace the one in my powermatic 64a contractor saw. The saw uses a 3/8" 3VX belt, but this belt seems to work just fine as a replacement. Before the upgrade, my saw had a mild vibration when I put my hand on the cast iron top. With this belt, the vibration is almost completely gone. The noise level is also greatly reduced, it sounds super smooth now.
I won't ever replace belts with standard V belts anymore, these powertwist belts are fantastic! I also bought a 1/2" powertwist for my delta 14" drillpress, which was vibrating like crazy.. so much so that a piece of wood would just walk off the table if I didn't hold it down. With the new belt, the vibration is almost gone. I bought 5' lengths for each tool, and in both cases there was plenty left over. 4' might be cutting it close though. Highly recommended!

it really is this good, September 18, 2010

I bought a cheap Harbor Freight horizontal bandsaw. The first upgrade was a quality bi-metal bandsaw blade. I spent all afternoon adjusting the machine, but turning it on resulted in a terrible shaking and vibration. As a last ditch effort I ordered this belt and tried it with apprehension. The difference is amazing. The bandsaw is smooth and sounds awesome. It even seems more powerful. For a quality professional machine with a good motor, precise, concentric pulleys, and a new rubber belt, I'm not sure how much difference it will make. For the budget level machinery that I can afford, though, it's really does transform the machine. As money permits, I'm going to replace all my belts with powertwist.
Oh, and it's really easy to adjust the length without any tools at all.

Works for Powermatic Too!, April 15, 2010

I used this on my Powermatic contractors saw. It made the saw much quieter, with much less vibration. With the Powermatic you end up taking out about 12-18 inches of this 5 foot belt. But that is fairly easy with a pair of needle-nose pliers. The older Powermatic saws like mine take this 3/8 inch belt, as opposed the more commonly sold 1/2 inch belt. I highly recommend this product. It does make a significant difference.

Great belt for pedal-a-watt., April 3, 2009

I used this product as part of a pedal-a-watt display with a light panel at a regional renewable energy fair and it was the hit of the fair. This is an ingenious belt- very strong and quickly adjustable to any length. I highly recommend it for the pedal-a-watt set up.
