MEN's Pro Bike Shorts Cycling Bicycle Biking
I ordered these bike shorts sight unseen since they only cost $29.95, quite a bit less than the other brand name cycling shorts I have purchased recently. When the shorts arrived a few days ago I was distressed to see that the chamois (crotch padding) had a row of stitching on either side of the perineal area. This is the way most chamois used to be made until a few years ago. More recently manufacturers have turned to one-piece, seamless chamois, on the theory that stitching can cause irritation. So when I wore the shorts for the first time today, for a 28 mile road ride (about 2 hours in the saddle), I was prepared for irritation and dissapointment. I was pleasantly surprised. The shorts fit well, much better than a pair of Giordana's that cost about 3 times as much. The chamois was more comfortable than the one piece chamois on my Adidas and Cannondale shorts, which also cost quite a bit more. As another reviewer has remarked, the chamois on these Aero Tech Designs shorts felt less diaper-like than the chamois on many shorts. It did not bunch and conformed well. Cushioning was good to excellent. There was no irritation at the end of the ride. I am quite pleased and would certainly buy another pair of these shorts. But my time was 5% slower and this can only be attributed to the shorts.

Only Good for beginners, June 23, 2009
By Chi-dweller (Chicago IL)
|
|
Due to a knee injury, I decided to take up cycling. I was skeptical of the whole idea of bike shorts really helping, so I purchased this inexpensive pair. When I first started doing 8-12 mile rides they were great. The padding was very plush and overall they were really comfortable. However, once I started doing longer rides greater than 20 miles, I found that the padding quickly flattened out. They were good for about 225-250 miles, then they wore out.
If you don't plan on biking seriously, but want to improve your comfort these shorts are great (and cheap). However, serious cyclists should look elsewhere.

Comfortable Ride, November 1, 2007
By James Duckett (St. George, Utah)
|
|
Before picking up some biking shorts I wanted some that were well reviewed and well liked. The 4.5 star rating on this caught my eye and picked up two pair.
And no regrets!! These things fit like a glove and are very comfortable to ride in. Even when I walk around in them they feel less like a diaper than others I've owned. And to top it all off, the price is fantastic!! I'll only buy these shorts when I need more in the future.
Pick up a pair or two, your butt will thank you for it.

Much better than I expected, May 5, 2008
By raido7 (Jamaica Plain, MA)

I have two old pairs of Bellwether shorts that are getting embarrassingly thin. Two replace them, I've tried everything Bellwether and Pearl izumi now sell, and was really disappointed with both. They all felt like I had a diaper on, and were cut in a way that didn't fit me. I tried these shorts based on other reviews, and love them. Very, very comfortable: they fit well, and--while the "chamois" is quite padded--don't create a stuffed crotch feeling at all. (In fact, this is the first review I've ever written, because I'm so blown away by the value of these shorts.) I've only had them a week, so I don't know how they'll hold up over time--but they seem fine so far.

Comfortable, and Well Worth the Price, September 18, 2007
By ewin64 (Walnut Creek, CA)
|
|
The title says it all. Having seen biking shorts for up to $150, I consider anything under $50 a good deal. These are comfortable even for a 50 miler, and they stretch nicely since I stretched not so nicely after a 10 year hiatus from biking. It would have been nice to have a key pocket or some such, but I guess they're waiting for me to spend as much on a jersey or two.

Worst bike shorts ever, January 25, 2009
By Slim Pickens (Tampa, FL)
|
|
I bought a pair to try out because they were so cheap. I got what I paid for. The chamois was smaller than other bike shorts and it barely covered my equipment. In addition the chamios was not nearly the thickness and quality of the more popular brands like Pearl Izumi or Cannondale. It that enough bad news? It got worse. When my wife washed them, the black bled into my other clothes. I am amazed that there are people who like these shorts unless I got a factory second. I bought them from the manufacturer on eBay.

Good Quality Short, October 13, 2007
By Mike H. (Brooklyn, NY)
|
|
The paneling is very smooth and comfortable. The padding in the crotch works well also and does wick away moisture. On top of that it dries very quickly. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the waistband tends to roll down when you stretch in an aero-dynamic position. Overall good buy

Great Shorts, April 24, 2009

Really great shorts...just ordered 3 more pair. Cut to fit for biking...very soft fabric and comfortable to wear. Nice quality padding too. Some issues with sizing...the size charts are different when you go to the links provided. Go to the company size link charts they are correct. Medium is 32-34, Large is 36-38, and XL is 38-40.

Faster by Five Percent, October 1, 2007
By Paul Moskowitz (Yorktown, NY)

I put on my new Aero Tech shorts, pumped up my tires to one hundred pounds, and took off on my usual route. My time was five percent less than that of the previous day. I have shorts from other manufacturers for comparison. The new Aero Tech shorts fit better than my others and are really comfortable. The Aero Techs are well designed. Now I have two pairs: royal blue and red. Actually, the improved time was probably a result of the inflated tires, but these shorts are good.

Great Buy!, November 25, 2008
By B. Panek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio USA)

Being new to the biking sport, I wanted a pair of biking shorts that wouldn't break the bank, yet give me riding comfort. These shorts provide comfort in the crotch area that had previously been sore after riding with normal summer shorts. They are easy to care for and have lasted over 15 washings so far without fading.

Men's Bike Shorts, September 21, 2008
By Bike Sorta Newbie (Hawaii)
|
|
My first pair of bike shorts. Product is well made and size is true. Pad is a bit stiff, but it distributes the saddle load well. I have since purchased two additional shorts from different manufacturers. In comparison, this pair is average. Nashbar shorts (about the same price point) breathe/wick moisture better, however, the chamois is less padded. Pearl Izumi shorts have good padding and wick moisture well, however, cost more than double. I live in Hawaii, ave temp high 80's, so moisture control is important.

Look for better shorts on closeout..., February 27, 2008
By Coach Larry (Ohio, USA)
|
|
I typically purchase shorts that are under $50 (end of season sales, etc.). I purchased these without knowing much about the brand, but liked the price. The fit and comfort are OK, but the stitching on the leg was poorly done. I would recommend finding a name-brand short on sale for $10 more.

Good Value, August 8, 2009
By DZ (Hawaii, USA)
|
|
I bought a couple pairs of these shorts and have used them for a month. I'm not a serious cyclist, rather I'm trying to commute to work and find good clothes. I've owned a few other pairs of bike clothes, but wouldn't consider myself an expert on them.
With those caveats out of the way, these are really nice shorts, and a great value for the money. They seem very well-made, comfortable, and sized accurately. There are some nice little touches. The legs have rubber grippers to keep them from riding up your legs. The spandex is two layers, and you can feel them slide against each other. There is no label in the back, rather the information is printed into the back just below the waistband. I haven't had any chafing, but I don't ride that far.
The shorts are simple, no glitzy logos or wild designs. I feel like just riding in bike shorts gets enough attention, so I value the plainness.
I can't vouch for the long-term durability of these things, but so far I've been very pleased with them and intend to buy more. The printed "label" states you can machine wash them -- hooray!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Aerotech's products are made in the US, a small business in Pennsylvania, and the manufacturer is the one sending us the product through Amazon. I didn't know we actually "made" anything anymore... That's the icing on the cake.

Good bike shorts - especially for the money, October 9, 2008
By James Ridgway (San Diego, CA USA)

I ordered these after purchasing new Pearl Izumi shorts for over $60. Granted the PI shorts have nicer padding - but the difference is really not that much - these shorts are great for my commute riding (10+ miles each way).

Good Price!, September 24, 2008
By Steve Hutman
|
|
I have never worn bike shorts before so I didn't know what to expect and because I don't ride evey single day, I didn't see the point of spending a ton of money. These shorts feel great and ride very well. They are comfortable, don't bunch up in the seat and the pad that comes with it feels great when riding. I would recomend these to a novice or a seasoned rider. Another feature is these shorts have the recomended eight panel construction; an important feature to look for. All in all, great price comfortable ride.

This short is OK for the beginner, August 10, 2008
By Khanh C. Nguyen
|
|
When my wife bought me this short, I thought it was great. It was definitely better than the regular short that I used. She then bought me another short-a Pearl Izumi Classic 3D short. She paid $10 more for the Pearl Izumi. Well....I no longer use the Aerotech short anymore. My precious you-know-what got a little numb with the aerotech short after about 5 miles. The Pearl Izumi provided me with the comfort and protection for a much much longer ride. The quality is so much better for only $10 extra. The moral of the story is: spend a little more and not having remorse. The Pearl Izumi opened my mind to other great (and expensive) brands. The quality, design, and comfort that the more expensive brands offer is definitely worth it to me. Instead of trying to block the discomfort out of my brain, I can now concentrate on my workout!

Men's "Pro?" Bike Shorts, September 3, 2008
By Dennis L. Bayer (Sausalito, CA USA)

I bought these shorts based on the reviews I read here. I wasn't expecting much for the price I paid and I got what I paid for. I don't think the reviewers that praised these shorts have ever used quality bike shorts. I blame myself not them. I like the light weight, but probably would never use these shorts on a ride of over 25 miles. If you only go for short rides they are probably adequate for you.

Decent shorts, but if you have the $, get better, December 10, 2009
By Zom (Dallas, TX)
|
|
As my title says, these are some decent bike shorts for the price (as in, you probably can't find any cheaper at your local bike store). They were my first pair, but after finding a great deal at a bike expo (hotter n hell hundred), and getting an awesome deal on some Descente bike shorts (think I paid less than half retail), I found out what I was missing. I think these shorts can serve a purpose to really get your taint used to riding faster without the extra padding, but once you move up to better shorts, you'll really be in biking short heaven. These haven't fallen apart on me over a heavy season of riding, but after having experienced better I will have to force myself to use them again to get my taint area in shape once the weather warms up again. If you're simply looking for a cheap way to get into biking, look no further, but if you are expecting anything close to the best, look elsewhere.

Padding is thin, July 29, 2009
By Alan (Syracuse, UT)
|
|
Just received the shorts tonight and went out for a quick one hour ride. The padding is thinner than anticipated and doesn't come up the back side very high - about mid-butt is all. It wasn't comfortable walking around in them as I always felt like they were out of place. On the bike, they felt much better. After the ride, I felt the raw, sore inner thighs I endured before I broke down and bought biking shorts (maybe not quite as bad). I'm comparing these shorts to a $45 pair I purchased at a national chain sporting goods store. Given the choice again, I would have spent the extra $10 and got something higher quality.

MADE IN THE U.S.A.!, May 25, 2008
By J. Mahood
|
|
I don't know about you, but I'm getting pretty tired of finding "Made in China" on every single thing I buy these days. I wasn't really expecting it, but was pleasantly surprised when my Aero Tech shorts arrived with big old "Made in the U.S.A." stickers on them. Aero-tech is a small operation with a factory in Pennsylvania.
The short itself is great. The leg grippers work well, the stitching is solid, the padding is comfortable, and so far no problems. I have a few expensive brand-name bike shorts as well, and compared to those I would call these "no-frills". If you're looking for something flashy, maybe these aren't for you, but if you're looking for comfort & support at an incredible price, look no further!

Great Shorts, Great Price, May 20, 2008
By C. Jacobs

|
This is a Great pair of 8 panel bicycle shorts. The material is top drawer, the stitching is done well, and the pad is well made and comfortable. The waist seems to be a little large for the size of the shorts, so you may want to order one size smaller. These shorts are hard to beat for the money. You would pay twice as much for a comparable short in the bike shop.

ouch, July 31, 2008
By Dante El Camino
|

i followed the sizing chart on the page. said i should get a medium according to my waist size. they got here real quick. but they are unbearably tight in the crotch. like, "ruin your day" tight. they were cheep and i took a chance, but i think I'll be spending a little more at a bike shop or sporting goods store from now on just so i can try them on first. and I'll probably look at the baggy short style. was planning on just wearing them under a pair of normal cargo shorts (wasn't ready to be "that guy with the really tight shorts" yet) but i regret even trying. well, live and learn i guess.

Thin pad, not high quality biking pants, July 16, 2011

Not your usual awesomesauce, February 1, 2011
By Astronogeek

These are my first pair of proper biking shorts, and I'm fairly pleased. I would caution that the riding bones (the bottom of your pelvis) aren't protected with padding - perhaps that's because I'm a big-boned kind of guy :-p Overall, they're very sleek and comfy. I definitely appreciate the padded crotch, despite it not covering all of the rear....

Good Value, April 3, 2010
By Eric Bohn (Largo, FL)

I'd say I'm slightly larger than average in the seat, and these fit great at standard sizing. They seam to be durable, comfortable, and do a fairly good job of maintaining elasticity. I like my Fox Ranger shorts a little better (they've since changed the design on them so I can't compare them to the newer version), but the Fox Rangers are also significantly more expensive.

Great value, March 21, 2010
By Randonneur (Florida)
|
|
I bought 1 pair of these shorts to try out and see how comfortable they would be on long distance rides as well as how durable they would be over time. I can't answer how long they are going to last yet since I haven't been able to wear them out yet however they do pass the long distance test with flying colors. I recently completed a 400K brevet in them with little to no tush/saddle interface issues.
Any pair of shorts that I can ride 250 miles in a day in with out worrying about a sore tush get my vote. Give them a try, for the price you can't go too far wrong. I'll be buy a couple more pairs.

Great price for very good shorts, December 15, 2009
By Boater (Carmel, CA USA)

I have lots of bicycle shorts. Theses are as comfortable as any that I own some at two or two and a half the price. Some of the reviews said to order a larger size, which I did. I normally wear a Large and the X-large fits perfectly. I am tall (6' 2") and these have the length that some shorts do not, which I like.
I have ridden a century in these and they were fine. I will see how long they last. So far they have not shown any sign of wear.

For the most part these are some of the nicest shorts you can ride in. For the price you're not going to find better shorts. I've found them to be really great for about the first hour, after that they start getting a little flat, but I usually only ride for about an hour so it works out, as far as durability they seem to be holding up pretty well. I've ridden maybe 15 hours in them and they have been washed a dozen times and still look to be in good shape.

Good value, but average padding thickness, August 4, 2009
By AcornMan (Denver, CO)
|
|
When I started shopping for bicycle shorts a few weeks ago I was shocked at how ridiculously expensive they are, so I was relieved to find these for about half the price of most of the ones out there. The quality is good and I'm happy with the fit and comfort (my backside definitely feels substantially better than when I rode without padded shorts). However, compared to many other shorts I've looked at, the padding in these is about average thickness. For the casual bicyclist that may not be a big deal, but I ride every day, so I'll most likely be buying shorts with thicker padding the next time I shop for them, even if it means spending some extra money. But overall I am happy with these shorts and I recommend them.

Purchased based on price. Was impressed the shorts did the trick, better then higher priced shorts. Not great for long rides. Would have like a little pocket inside for key or money holder. Next purchase will be their high priced shorts to judge the difference.

Men's Pro Cycling Shorts., June 22, 2009
By Gene (Wilkes-Barre Pa.)

I just recently purchased this cycling product so i can't say much about their durability. What i can say is they fit me great and they are very comfortable. I like the material that they are made of and the saddle padding helps when you take long rides. I would recomend this product to any bike rider.

No more pain, August 2, 2008
By Hippo Head (NM USA)
|
|
I am a new biker and this is my first pair of bike shorts. I don't have anymore @ss pain after a long ride. Most of the shorts I have seen in the stores have been $60 and up. I will be buying a few more or maybe the next level up. The best thing is they are made in the USA.

Good shorts at a good price, July 21, 2008
By Technical writer (Tempe, AZ)
|
|
I've worn these a few times and they work well. Someone else on the list mentioned that they have a plastic band around each leg, which is also true of mine. The band is thin and it doesn't bother me, but it is different from the other shorts like this that I own.

A Great Set of Shorts for the Price, July 20, 2008
By CharlieC (Berkeley, CA USA)

These bike shorts have proved to be comparable to other riding shorts and they typically cost about one-half of their retail value, so I highly recommend them. They're not the best are are certainly adequate and a great value. They seem well made and are comfortable to ride.

Excellent shorts. Very reasonable price; well made; delivery was a little slow, but I think I've gotten a little spoiled with other deliveries only taking a day or two.

By David P. Brendle

I found the product to be as advertised. I have used these shorts about a month and find them to be very comfortable. This is my first pair of cycling shorts and I have been very pleased with them. I would certainly buy another pair when these wear out. I would recommend these shorts to anyone who cycles.

Great shorts!, April 27, 2008
By Charles Montgomery (AL U S A)

These shorts came almost on the day I ordered them. They are just as comfortable, really more so, as a pair of $80.00 bike name brand shorts I bought recently.
I will definitely go to AeroTechDesigns for other like products I might need.

Great shorts to wear under your cargo pants or cargo shorts when mountain biking or commuter biking. Just the right amount of padding where it's needed most, in the tush. Great price! Very functional. Anyone in need of a pair of cycling shorts should consider this product,.

good, solid, bike shorts, March 28, 2008
By supersteve2004 (San Diego, CA)

These things made a real difference for me. I get saddle rash pretty quickly, and this things enable me to get a good 2 hour ride in without any problems. If you have big thighs (like me) they may be a bit tight, but they stretched out pretty quickly. THe padding is really nice too.

Great Shorts, March 23, 2008
By Michael L. Wilson
|
|
I bought these shorts based on the price and the reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. They seemed on par with the other biking shorts I have - as far as quality - but at about 1/2 the price or less. They are a no frills biking short, but have adequate padding to be more than comfortable on long rides. I have now worn and washed them numerous times and they seem to be holding up well. I will probably order another pair soon.

By Still Greek to Me (Southern CA)

I bot the "long" version of this short. The quality is o.k., however the pad is thinner that the pad on the Performance Ultra my short of choice. I'm really writing this review to warn you of Aero Tech. They do NOT stand behind their products. I bot another product from them that was defective. I returned it with an explanation...no answer. I wrote to them again...NO ANSWER. So good luck to you if you buy from them. You'll need it.

Cycling Shorts, February 5, 2012
By nemoM31 (Nemaha, NE)

These are reasonably priced cycling shorts - nothing fancy. I wear these a lot in rotation with another pair. They get washed a lot and no extra special treatment. I get about a year of good wear from them, then they start getting ratty. I can still make do with them even then, though, if I have to.

Nice bike shorts, October 24, 2011
By Bicycle Bob
|
|
We have been wearing these shorts for about 2 seasons with good results. I ride about 6,000 miles per year and my wife 2,000. This recent purchase is my third pair. The pad is just right. It doesn't wrinkle or bunch up. A nice touch is the blue leg grippers on the men's version (pink on the ladies). Easy to sort after the laundry.
