4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good budget wireless bike computer, April 15, 2007
By Neildo (SLC, UT United States)
I bought this computer because it is wireless and you can see MPH, odometer and time all at the same time. The wireless works well. I question the accuracy of the computer. It seems off at high speeds. Also, the readout has a 3-4 second delay. So when you change speeds, the computer takes a few seconds to update the display. My wired cateye does not seem to have this problem. For a serious competitor, I think you would want to spend a little more. But for recreational biking it works fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good stuff, August 11, 2007
By Nathan Purdy (Utah)
The product is outstanding. The installation instructions are as you would expect... not thorough! But I love it anyway.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Vetta 288L Computer, April 17, 2010
By M. Harmon (Wyoming)
This computer worked well for one set of batteries. The one exception is the auto-on function which never worked.

After the first battery change (transmitter and receiver at the same time) the computer did not work as long. Upon subsequent changes the computer did not work at all. It would either not pick up the transmitter at all or read, at best, inacurately.

I came across it again while shopping for a replacement (Cateye) and decided to write this review. Buy something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product....nice design!, July 18, 2009
By Alexandre M. Arruda (Mi, USA)
Had a hard time to decide among this, the VDO (no backlight) and a Cateye (don't like the design). Mounting was relatively easy, although not everything is always parallel as you can expect. Working fine, and as I don't exect to ride off-road, I think I can trust the mounting. Like the design a lot, specially the black with the transparent cover....

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Don't buy this cycling computer, June 27, 2010
By Bruce W. Brodersen (Lincoln, NE United States)
I liked the features of this bike computer, but when I turn on my Cateye HL-EL830RC Triple Shot Pro the computer goes crazy, displaying random high speeds in 50 - 70 MPH ranges. Same thing happened while passing under some high voltage power lines.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't work- but have had prompt help, September 18, 2007
By Variable Interests (NYC)
I've been cycling for years- and have installed plenty of these kinds of gadgets on a multitude of bikes. This one didn't work.
After carefully reading the manual and buying and changing the batteries, and reinstalling multiple times I came to the conclusion that the sensor was not working. Have emailed Vetta and the retailer. Both have replied; Vetta sent some information and the seller has offered to send me a new sensor at their expense. I rate both for getting back to me promptly, and I hope this fixes the problem. Overall a but frustrating, but gratifying that they are actively helping fix the problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  All data at a glance, April 3, 2011
By Heinz Imhof
This wireless cycling computer has a nice display that gives you all the data at a glance. It was easy to setup, although I don't care much for the lap-time feature. I had to call VETTA for instructions how to reset the counters to Zero after a ride (the information is missing in the user manual that comes with it). Overall very satisfied with this product so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  A bit complicated to use, April 2, 2011
By Boeing
This wireless cycling computer is a bit complicated to use. Setting it up might take some time. The first time I used it the speed wasn't very actual. I think the design is too complicated and I would strongly recommend people to buy a cycling computer that is wired instead of wireless. Wireless makes it a lot more complicated and a little less actual.

I love the light on the screen. When it gets too dark you can click on it and the text can become readable. I am still havn't problem setting it up though. Its hard to set the data in and get everything right. Buy this only if you know what you are doing.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Vetta RT288-L SmartLite, March 19, 2011
By Biker
Unit goes well although attachment to the bike is a little average. The wireless unit connection to the front fork does not allow for the variable gap between spokes and fork. I got it to work but not as per manufacturers instructions. Also it is a little slow to update, maybe every 3 seconds. Other than that it goes pretty good. Am happy with it overall.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Kaput!, April 24, 2010
By Ish (Miami, FL)
Worked for a couple of weeks after which it stopped recording. I changed the battery and it worked for about one day after it drained the battery. I contacted the manufacturer to see if it something I was doing wrong and they concluded the sensor was defective. They were kind enough to send me a replacement sensor within days, but unfortunately that one didn't do the trick either. Next time I'll get a different brand.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Fails in many ways!, April 28, 2010
By Justin Stoffregen (FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, US)
I just lost this computer today for the last time. I searched for it in the weeds for about 20 mins then finally gave up. It never attached to the bike properly, and within 100 miles the sensor unit snapped apart rendering the entire device useless until I remedied the situation with some zip-ties. I would save up a few more bucks and get something nicer. I did love the style and look and even the features but it's a very unrealiable piece of equipment. Buttons seemed cheap as well and I often had a hard time clearing the memory out for the next ride. Good luck if you get this one. Sorry Vetta.
