Not all I hoped for, May 20, 2009
By Inkling (Colorado Springs)

Hoping that the universal design label was true, I bought this as a replacement for my Bodum press. The fit is loose. Fortunately I had an old Bonjour press in the back of my cupboard that works nicely. Bodum buyers, this is not your best choice.

Which size to order?, July 11, 2010
By Walter K. Ezell (SC USA)
|
|
To see the capacity in ounces, go to [bonjourproducts.com]. Or maybe not. For example their web site erroneously indicates a "12-cup" carafe is one liter, or 33.8 ounces. Another of their "12-cup" French Presses is correctly described as holding 53 ounces. One of their 8-cup presses is stated to be 33.8 ounces. Most of their descriptions of French presses the don't give the capacity in ounces.
What capacity is your French press? I inverted mine and saw this stamped into the metal on the bottom: "8 cup PRC."
After my replacement carafe arrived today, I poured 33.8 ounces into it and it filled to the top of the French press's metal rim.
There's a typo on the Bonjour web site. But clearly, a Bonjour "cup" is about 4 ounces.

Perfect fit in my Starbucks French Press, March 1, 2011

I bought this to replace the carafe in my Starbucks French Press. I was a little concerned that it might not fit since I am not sure who manufactures the Starbucks product. It worked perfectly and I think it might even be a little better quality glass than the original.

BonJour French Press replacement carafe, April 27, 2009
By chiptricks

Broke the coffee press carafe of a friend I was housesitting for--thought I was going to have to buy an entire new French press, but it worked out perfectly to take the broken glass out of the old (with the use of a phillips head screwdriver) and put the new one in place!

Perfect replacement, July 13, 2010

I bought this after breaking the glass to our Bodum 8 cup french press (again). The first time I broke the glass insert I went and bought a whole new french press, so I was glad when I found this replacement glass for cheaper! It fits perfectly into the Bodum frame and has worked just as well as the original. Just don't drop a butter knife in it while you're doing dishes - it will likely shatter.

Perfect fit for 8-cup Bodum Press, April 5, 2011
By Alfred Yale
|
|
Not only did my product arrive in only 5 days, but it was packaged perfectly and fit my 8-cup old Bodum Press perfectly! Like other reviews, I can only assume that those who said it didn't fit have a reading comp issue, as it clearly states in the product description that it holds 32oz -- the 8cups refer to little 4oz. china coffee cups, not measuring cup 8oz. I couldn't be happier with this product -- especially since this was the cheapest option.

Don't trash your press!, March 4, 2011
By A. T. Sadowski (Orlando)

So... you've broken your carafe. Now what... Buy a new press for $40. Don't bother when you can simply replace the carafe! For just $15 (plus shipping and handling) you can keep that press from an eternity in the landfill and get back to pressing coffee in the press you've grown to love. Yes, I understand you. You need that press tomorrow and the standard coffee maker on the counter just won't cut it now. But it will have to...Well you could just go out and by a whole new press, but its hard to when all you need is that simple glass container that fits just right inside that metal frame. So here's what you do. Drop the carafe in your cart and complete your order! Next, dust off your old coffee maker and run some water through it to clean out the cobwebs. You'll need something to get you through the next few days as the carafe makes its way through the postal system and onto your kitchen counter. When you make your coffee you may want to add an extra scoop of coffee just fool yourself into believing you pressed your coffee. Patience is key here. As you go into press withdraw keep in mind, its just a few days...I can do this. In a few days your new carafe will arrive and I'll tell you there is nothing like going to the mail box and finding that brown box waiting in there. Ahhhhhhhh. Your press, carafe, and you are now one again. Life is good.

Professional and on time, February 10, 2011

After my french press's carafe broke, I was broken hearted. This replacement carafe has brought new hope to my once coffee less days. Not only was it the best price but the carafe came swiftly to my rescue and fulfilled my caffeine-lacking dreams with overflowing streams of joy.
Seriously though- professionally wrapped, arrived quickly, and was exactly what it described. For Amazon, that is surprisingly refreshing.

Fits Fine, January 6, 2011
By mattg54321 (Springfield, VA USA)

I was a bit concerned, based on some of the feedback that this would not fit well in my Bodum Chambord 8 cup press. Since I could buy two of these for the price of one OEM carafe, I gave it a try. This carafe fits fine without slipping, and I have a spare for next time too!

Economical replacment, December 31, 2010

I am another fan of this product - who has broken more than one beaker. It is wonderful not having to replace the frame. It also gives reason to buy the empty frames in thrift stores - very useful if you serve guests or want to bring one to work.

This replacement carafe fits the BonJour unit perfectly. The original carafe broke pretty easily, and this one looks fragile, too, but that's what you get when you deal with glass.

Saved my French Press!, September 18, 2010
By Moonlightwriter
|
|
A lover introduced me to coffee and gave me a French press, stating that I could not be a real writer unless I drank coffee. So I began my mornings on the porch swing with coffee, cream, and sugar. A year or so later, the carafe broke. I was heartbroken, until I realized I could simply replace that part! I little click here, a little click there and voila! A carafe came to me in the mail! It works great and the Great American Novel continues!

Saved me from having to throw out my French Press, June 5, 2010
By jb (Columbia, SC)

I've had my BonJour French Press for several years, and was sad when I broke the carafe. At first I thought the whole thing would have to go in the trash, but, with this 8-cup replacement carafe, it's as good as new. I prefer the BonJour press over other brands, so was delighted to be able to replace the carafe.

Broke After 1-2 months, February 17, 2010
By djanes1 (NYC)
|
|
I ordered this in mid-December, and now the carafe is broken on Feb. 17th. I used it two or three times per week. But today it broke for no apparent reason. I poured in the hot water, and after 10 minutes pushed the plunger down. 5 minutes after that, I poured myself a cup. Then, about two minutes after I set the press back down on my desk the carafe cracked down the middle and coffee started pouring all over my desk. This is a poorly made carafe.

Fantastic!, December 3, 2009
By JMT (United States)

I have had my French press for over 5 years and the carafe broke recently. I was worried about getting a carafe online, because I was concerned it might not fit. When this came, I found that it was better than the original one. It fits better in the holder and it's easy to clean. It's snug, so the carafe doesn't slide out as easily, which was the problem with the original one. I love it and if this one should break in a fall, I would buy it again and again and recommend it to friends.

Great replacement!, January 14, 2012
By Sue B.

It's better than just a great replacement to the Starbucks French press, I recommend just getting it right off the bat. The glass is much more substantial and the thickness really assists the press in that it's a better fit overall.

Good for Palm Restaurant press, December 23, 2011
By KvB (BROOKLYN, NY, US)

This was a good replacement beaker for the Palm Restaurant press I bought at HomeGoods. It is maybe a couple millimeters wider, but does not affect the function of the press at all. Thanks, BonJour!

Good as new, December 20, 2011
By Discerning Consumer (WI)
|

As is the wont of daily-use presses, my original BonJour 8 cup carafe cracked after a year of good service. I was happy to spend $15 to replace the glass when the whole press was worth well over $50. The replacement fit snugly - perhaps even tighter than the original - and the household caffeine supply was restored.
The only thing I noticed with this replacement, opposed to the original, is that the top rim of the glass has a faintly greenish hue to it. Which is cosmetic at worst, unnoticeable at best.

BonJour replacement beaker/carafe, November 4, 2011
By Zymolysis
|
|
I purchased the BonJour 8-cup universal carafe to replace the beaker in my Bodum 34 ounce French Press. It fits the metal frame at least as well as the original beaker did. And the filter press assembly fits into it and functions as well as it did in the original. I recommend it, and since it is $2 or $3 less expensive, I would buy it again.

Very good replacement, September 11, 2011
By Robert J. Mixner (Bloomington, IN United States)

I bought this to replace a broken Bodum carafe. This is a pretty much perfect replacement. The fit in the press's "holder" was a little tight at first, but after a few uses that's not an issue anymore.

Wonderful!, May 7, 2012
By Kate Higgins (Boston, MA)

I have great French Press that you actually pull up the coffee grounds out of the coffee to lessen the bitterness. I've had it for years and broke the carafe last year. The manufacturer no longer makes replacements and didn't have any in stock. It was difficult finding a carafe to replace it, this was my third try but it works and I have my favorite Press back.
