simple, but effective, October 17, 2007
By D. Wadlington (Shippensburg, PA)

This model replaced a higher-end Schwinn model I had been trying to use (the other had a swiveling nozzle with a built-in needle that worked Swiss-army-knife style, or rather didn't work). This works perfectly; it clamps on securely and is easy to pump and was inexpensive. My only wish would be to have a pressure gauge. Sometimes simpler really is better.

This pump doesn't last long, June 29, 2009
By TParrish (Houston, TX)

This pump worked long enough to air up two bicycle tires and then the handle came out of the pump and no longer worked. I tried taking apart the plastic components to fix with no luck. I would not recommend this product for anything other than wasting your time.

A simple pump that works well, December 23, 2008
By Joe (San Luis Obispo, CA USA)
|
|
Since this is just a pump, I guess there is not much to say except that it works well. I use it to pump air into my bike tires, which have been getting flat a lot lately. It works perfectly fine.
Nothing bad to say about it. It doesn't tell you how much air is in what ever you are pumping in, so it may not be perfect for basketballs and such. But I suspect most people can just get the feel of their tires or balls and pump accordingly. For me, it's simple and good enough for my needs.

Broke too after first use, July 6, 2009

I should have followed the negative reviews: the handle part broke up after the first use and the pump is now useless. Don't buy!

Arrived broken, June 9, 2009
By A. Cairo

This Schwinn Air Driver 1000 arrived unusable, so I can't comment on it's performance. I can say that the hose end fitting is made of plastic. It was received broken, snapped off at the pump base. Not a sturdy design. Will try again but not this one.

Twice Arrived Broken, January 29, 2009
By WiseMom (Parker, CO)
|
|
First Pump arrived with the hose broken off at the bottom. Second pump arrived with the complete right side of pump handle broken off. Don't know whether it was quality control from the manufacturer, poor handling and packaging from warehouse, or rough handling from shipper. We didn't get a third one, so I can't comment of the performance of the pump.

Bike pump, December 20, 2009
By Mary Kimble
|
|
We used this pump one time right after we recieved it. We did not need it again for a month or two, but when we tried to use it a second time, it was as if the pump had deflated of all air. I don't know how else to describe it. We had to throw it away as the time that had expired was over the 30 days for a refund. Buyer Beware!

I used it for the first time and the handle part came off! I did not pull very hard. Now the pump is useless. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed in the quality of this pump.

Good budget item that does the job, July 25, 2009
By Atomic Grrrrrl (Brooklyn, NY USA)
|
|
Because of my budget, I needed to get a low cost floor pump to pump up the tires on my Women's Schwinn Ranger Mountain Bike - 26". I bought this pump sight unseen expecting it to either be flimsy or fall apart after a few months. However, after almost a year of use I can safely say that this was a good purchase. It's still holding up well and has done a good job of inflating my tires without a hitch. I recommend it highly if you need a no frills, basic pump and don't mind not having a gauge.

Broken after a month of use, December 2, 2008
By Stephen L (Chicago, IL)
|
|
My tire went completely flat and my other pump broke, so I got this pump. Man, am I happy with this one. A good 5-10 pumps and I'm ready to go!
Update: After a month of use, the tube came out and I wasn't able to put it back in. (Well I was able to once but if you pump it'll come out again). Don't waste your money!

It doesn't work with 3 different kind of valve~!, July 25, 2011
By panelan
|
|
I have a bike with dunlop valve tire so I bought this because it said 'This versatile 5-in-1 pump from Schwinn can pump three types of bike tires and is compatible with Shrader, Presta and Dunlop valve tubes'
But the item, which i got, only work with 2 different kind of valve. (Shrader and Presta)
Also, I doesn't look like picture on web site and name is different. Name on website is 'Schwinn Air Driver 1000 Floor Pump' but the item shipped is 'Schwinn Floor Pulp'
So I requested replacement but I got same as last one.
I think there is no more 'Schwinn Air Driver 1000 Floor Pump' or website is wrong.
Now I decide refund and I am disappointed with amazone that they didn't check my comment when I request replacement.

dont waste your money, October 13, 2010
By girlbike

this product was awful. don't even think about using this pump for a presta value! it's a plastic attachment that almost broke off the very first time i used it and there's no gauge on this pump. if you're just pumping up a little kids mountain bike this is a great deal, but not if you like to ride on most days. invest in something better. i used it once and gave it away!

No good, October 6, 2010
By CLAASS (Indiana, USA)

It says "The nozzle comes with a built-in needle to use with sports balls." But when I got it, there was no needle at all. And the plastic quality is pretty bad.

Works as expected, September 19, 2010
By S. Agrawal (Hillsboro, OR United States)

Have used only twice in mine and my wife's bike. It works as expected and no surprises.
Earlier I had the hand pump from Schwinn and it was such a pain. Use to take 5-10 mins pumping and then only it will work. With his one....you are done in 2 mins. Such a relief. Will recommend for everybody.

Pump fit for volleyballs--nothing else., September 10, 2010
By Duran A. Valdez (Fontana, CA)
|
|
This pump is cheap, comes with no gauge, and is unreliable at higher PSIs. I bought it to pump my road bike tires, and realized it was a waste of money since I couldn't gauge the pressure nor could I rely on the pump sealing correctly after a 100 psi or so. If you're a cycling enthusiast don't waste your time or money.

Works well and the kids love it. It's long and skinny. A very good garage item of good value. BUY BALL NEEDLES IF YOU DEAL WITH KIDS!!! A lesson learned.

Had to get a replacement, second one works okay, June 11, 2010
By Once in a while
|
|
The first one I got felt a little rattle-y when I operated the plunger. I tested it on a bike tire, pumping four or five strokes and checking the tire pressure after each set of strokes. Which made me realize that it really is a bit of an inconvenience not having an integrated gauge on the pump.
As I continued to inflate the tire, the pump started making some strange noises. It was still putting a few pounds of air in the tire with every set of pumpings, but as the tire pressure got to around 50 or 60 pounds, the pump noises got louder. They sounded like a combination hiss and burp with every stroke. I realized they were coming from around the base of the pump.
So I reached down to check and tighten the hose where it attached to the base of the pump. I figured it was threaded on, and I intended to give it a nice easy twist (it's a plastic connection so I didn't want to put too much torque on it). But as soon as I touched it, POW! the hose blew off at the connection. The plastic threads were all stripped, of course.
Amazon has that great return policy, so I had a replacement the next day. It feels a little more sturdy and operates more smoothly, like the internal parts are fit better, and so far it's working fine. I plan to handle it with a bit of care to get a lot of use out of it.

When I received this item, I wasn't sure I'd be very good in using it. But, a soon as I got it hooked to the tires of the bike, it was no trouble at all. I really like the ar pump gld I got it.

good pump, February 7, 2009
By Compulsive Shopper (SF Bay Area)
|
|
I received my bike and this pump today so I had a good opportunity to test the pump out. It is light a good height and amazingly took no more than 8 pumps to fill a completely deflated tire. The hose easily connects tightly. The head comes with two adapters so you can use this for both types of tire nozzle. This pump is a good deal, you don't really need anything more.

just OK, July 25, 2010
By Alina Vail CO

This pump is just OK, nothing special about it. My husband and a few neighbors have used it for months now, it's OK. It is a little too big and hard to store if you live in a condo like us, but I guess it's OK for the price.

Broke after using it a few times., April 13, 2012

This pump worked fine when it arrived, but after using it 5 or 6 times to fill bicycle tires, the valve snapped off at the end of the hose and can't be repaired. We are very disappointed in the quality of this Schwinn product, and recommend against buying it.

I wouldn't recommend., April 12, 2012

I was really excited when this finally popped up in the mail. I had been waiting for an extremly long time to get my new bike pump. It pumped up the first tire alright. However, when I started pumping up the second tire the handle that makes the air pump out of the tube broke and came out while I was pumping. I wasn't even pumping hard when I came out. I tried reattaching it to the pipe but it wouldn't work. I had to go buy a new bike pump from a bike store about 30 minuets away from my house the next week just so I could finish pumping my tires.

Terrible Pump, December 30, 2011
By Bing Gin (Manhattan Beach, CA USA)

I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled so others don't buy this pump. I only use this for pumping up sports balls - soccer, basketball and football. Lasted less than 6 months. Really disappointed.

great for the price, May 18, 2012
By P.C. Thomas (Fort Myers, FL United States)

This pump is simple and lightweight. It works exactly how its supposed to and I haven't had any problems with it after 3 years of use. I was originally tempted to buy a pump with a built in pressure gauge but I read too many reviews of pumps where the gauge broke. So after buying this pump I bought this nice air gauge (the EZ - Air Tire Gauge by G.H. Meiser) and it's all still cheaper than a pump with a built in gauge. On this pump the lever/lock for the tire stem works the opposite of what I'm used to but it also locks on better. I would buy this again especially for $16.

Broken before I got it, May 16, 2012

I was mailed an air pump whose hose was snapped off at the base. Yes, I was mailed a broke air pump and it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to see that it was broken prior to shipping it out.
