Good bell for price, November 13, 2007
By Zachary Shalla
|
|
This is a very good bell for the price. My two complaints for it:
1) It only realistically goes on the left handlebar. Putting it on the right doesn't seem to allow for easy bell ringing.
2) If I leave my bike out in the rain and the bell gets wet, it doesn't want to work unless I "ring" it out about 10 times.

Great Bell, April 22, 2008
By James Wishman
|
|
This bell works great. It makes a nice sound that meets most local laws because it is audible at over 100 feet in my experience. Just like any bike bell, however, it doesn't work in the rain or when the surface (chiming device) is wet. The water dampens the vibrations that make the nice "briiing" sound. When dry, though, it's wonderful!

Fragile bell, October 5, 2007
By Dana A. Nuccitelli (West Sacramento, CA USA)

While attaching this bell to my bike, I dropped it. It stopped functioning and I haven't been able to repair it.
I think it's too fragile and would not recommend this bell.

Built well but does not always sound good, November 29, 2007
By Winston R. Schooley (Punta Gorda, FL)

|
This bell is metal which gives it the appearance of being sturdy. The trigger is stiff and does not glide smoothly. The bell also sounds muted frequently. I have to play with it to get it sounding right.

Blast from the past, June 27, 2008
By SueA (Carnation, WA USA)

The sound of this bell brings back memories of riding my bike through the neighborhood I grew up in as a kid. I mounted this bell on my "adult" bike and feel the feedom of childhood again whenever I ring this great sounding bell. Fun stuff. Now, I am considering putting streamers on the handlebars...

Does not fit road bikes, April 7, 2008
By Masonicpath (Michigan)
|
|
It claims to fit most bikes, but is far too small to fit a drop-bar road bike handlebar. It is fragile and not very loud.
At best, this is an overpriced toy.

Ringy Dingy, April 8, 2010
By Donald De Arman
|
|
Great for the price. I bought it to warn people when I'm about to overtake them on my beachcruiser. So far I haven't been able to go fast enough to pass anyone, but in testing, it has worked beautifully every time I've tried it.

Great Bell, Wrong Description, May 28, 2009
By Jorsea (GG, CA USA)
|
|
This bell was better than expected performance wise. It was easy to ring compared to the other similar brands that I've tried. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the wrong description. The bell that I got was neither black or chrome as described but rather a silver PAINTED one.

Be Heard, Stay Safe, August 23, 2007
By The Goddess (Overseas)

Nice bell with a nice price. I don't care for the high pitched ring, wish it was a little deeper sound but then it might not be as effective. This will definitely be heard and therefore keep you safe. Remember cars are not always watching out for bicyclist so be careful, be prepared use your bell!

Cheap and Nice, March 25, 2011
By J. Cole (Brooklyn, NY)
|
|
Don't let this fool you, it is a matte silver plastic housing. It is really loud, and serves my purposes great. Also, it was configured to be mounted on the left side of my bike (using my left hand to ring it). This could prob be changed but I am a novice and just went with it. For now, it's just what I wanted.

This schwinn bell works good. It's also pretty cheap.
Buy this bell.
One more note: It comes in black and silver, but you won't know which you'll get. I bought 2 and got 2 colors. Doesn't make a difference for me, but it may for you?

ring ring!, February 16, 2010
By Dan Theman (MI)

Make PeeWee Herman proud!
Nice "ring ring" sound. Loud. Mine came in black. Sometimes (rarely) the lever gets stuck in, aka it doesn't spring back on its own. But for the price I can't complain too much. I just "unstick" it with my finger and we're back in action.

Cheap piece of junk - broke after 1 month, July 28, 2009
By A. M. DAmelio (San Jose, CA)
|
|
Bought this bell to have something on my bike to warn pedestrians of my presence. After a little over a month, the bell is broken. The lever doesn't ring the bell and just makes a harsh grating noise.
I guess it's my fault for buying it b/c Schwinn is a cheap junk brand. They stole my Cannondale b/c I tried to save a couple of bucks and bought a Schwinn lock, now this bell I bought and IT'S broken. Since it's over a month, Amazon is no help on the return.
Learn from my mistakes and don't buy this or any Schwinn product.

Broke right away, November 30, 2011
By Erin Nelson (Minneapolis, MN)
|
|
This bell was a great price, but the first time I tried to push the lever for a ring, it made a crunching noise inside and got stuck. It never worked once for a ring. I brought it to my uncle for fixing, but because the gears were all plastic inside, he wasn't able to fix it. Next time I will buy a better bell.

Good product for its price!, January 8, 2010
By F. Wang (Los Angeles, CA USA)
|
|
I bought two of this bell for me and my buddy's biweekly bicycle ride at the beach. It is very easy to install - takes only a couple minutes. Since we are located in a dry area and only ride on sunny days, we never had any moisture problem as mentioned by other owners. The sound is clear and loud enough to alarm other walkers/bikes in the traffic. It works simply as intended!

Very Poor Quality Item - Save Your Money!!!!, September 24, 2010
By BikerGuy
|
|
I purchased this bell as a gift. Trust me, it is of inferior quality and you will not be happy with it.
When I learned that return postage would cost me $5.05 on the item, I swallowed hard and tossed it into the trash.
Live and learn!

Little Bell With A Loud Voice!, December 13, 2011
By A Customer
|
|
I admit, I just wanted a bell on my beach cruiser for the nostalgia factor. I just bought a pink Schwinn reminiscent of my childhood bike. I had to have a bell just like the old one did but I was expecting a simple bell with not much carry on it for $6 but I was wrong! This thing is loud and will be perfect for sharing the roads downtown with the slow traffic and pedestrians! I can always count on the Schwinn name. I appreciate that. Every bike I have ever owned since I was a little girl has been a Schwinn, I'm glad to see 20 years after my first bike, the quality hasn't changed.
