4.0 out of 5 stars.  Ignore "See Merchant's Sizing Chart" Link!, May 14, 2008
By D. Harkins (Mesquite, TX USA)
As the previous reviewer pointed out, the Amazon sizing chart will definitely steer you wrong. I will be returning these for the next smaller size. Here are the actual sizes:

Small are 30-32 (not 28-30)
Medium are 34-36 (not 32-34)
Large are 38-40 (not 36-38)
XL are 42-44 (not 40-42)
XXL are 46-48 (not 44-46)

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Size does matter!, November 16, 2007
By MovieFreak (Boulder, CO, United States)
I bought these boxer briefs with Amazon.com as the seller. The merchant sizing chart says "Large = 36-38 waist." That's how my BodyGlove and Van Heusen boxer-briefs are specified as well, but FOL... says "Large = 38-40"!

So these boxer briefs turned out a little loose, made worse by the fact that I fall between the medium and large sizes. And after wearing one for just one day, it already seems a little looser than at the start... not quite the second-skin fit I get from my BodyGloves all day (but the BGs are half-spandex or something).

I would have traded them in for the medium size, maybe I still will... Considering FOL's medium is a little larger than the other brands, maybe that is just right for me :-)

FYI, *all* of FOL's sizes appear larger than the Amazon.com sizes by 2".

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Fruit of the Loom Men's Boxer Briefs 4 Pack - Here's The Underwear Information You Need When Shopping for Yourself or Bo, February 19, 2009
By BEST PROFESSIONAL BOOK and PRO.. (Scottsdale,AZUSA)
Sizing for Men's Boxer Briefs on Amazon Sizing Chart Not Accurate-Please Read On!

I normally wear a size 32 inch waist in Hanes Briefs and Boxers
and wear a size 32 in Abercrombie @ Fitch Briefs and Boxer Briefs too.
So I am not sure what happened with this size chart as I bought the 4 Pack of Boxer Briefs from Fruit of the Loom. They were on sale and I did not want to miss a bargain.

I have been writing a great and helpful book for guys and girlfriends about grooming tips for men. I'm so glad I checked out the Fruit of the Loom underwear as I found they are too big for the size listed.
I needed to order a Small from them and instead ordered the size for a 32-in this case a medium. I tried them on and they looked okay but seemed big. My girlfriend said she would wash them first so I took them off and went back to work. Next day I tried on the Boxer Briefs, the blue one from the pack, and they were still too large.

I have given reviews in my new book (that has not come out yet as I need plenty more information from helpful people-so contact me if you are interested at azmodelsearch@gmail.com)for all types of clothing for guys and a chapter on how to find the ultimate underwear for yourself or as a gift for someone. It is 100% accurate so far!

I ordered only 1 new package of the Fruit of the Loom Boxer Briefs. however this time they were in a size Small. When I got the packaged I tossed them on and went out for the evening. Could not believe how comfortable these underwear are for the price. The cotton quality is GREAT and is a soft blended cotton that will keep you warm.

I SENT A LETTER TO Fruit Underwear and will update them monthly if there are responses here. Thanks.d

Here is a Size Chart from
another reviewer that is totally accurate! I hope this review and my others are helping.

Small are 30-32 (not 28-30)
Medium are 34-36 (not 32-34)
Large are 38-40 (not 36-38)
XL are 42-44 (not 40-42)
XXL are 46-48 (not 44-46)

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Wrong sizing, bizarre placement of seam down the length of butt, just too weird for me, September 4, 2009
By gmackenz (Oakland, CA USA)
I too find it strange to write a review for underpants.

I wish I had the reviews, I would have ordered XXL instead of XL. The underwear fit is too snug, and thus will not wear well. Even worse, their are oddly placed seams that travel the back of the garment on both sides. I've only worn these briefs for a brief time as I am writing this, I don't think I could stand wearing them for much more. If you have any sort of full buttock, these briefs will leave seam lines at best, maybe rub you raw at the worst.

Ugh! Never going to buy unseen clothes online for a long time after this fail.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Fit didn't last one wearing, July 18, 2008
By Steve (Boston, MA)
Right out of the package they fit fairly well. I wasn't expecting perfection for the relatively inexpensive price, but the fact that the bottoms of the legs were extremely loose after wearing them only once is a huge disappointment. I can see some slight stretching, but after wearing them once they went from snug to having over 1.5 inches of extra room at the thigh. Washing & drying brought the size back down slightly but did not last.

I won't be buying any more.

I can't believe I am reviewing underwear but since I bought these boxer briefs I always wear them before I will wear any other underwear in my drawer. They are really comfortable and support even me well : ) . I think I will be ordering another 4 pack so I can wear them every day of the week. My girlfriend loves them. Good luck!!!

Also not supportive in other spots that need it.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  underwear are to big, August 14, 2010
By d.c.80
i bought some of these at a local retail store and i returned them because they were to big, the waist band fit ok but these were really loose everywhere else. i'm never buying these again. i will stick with basic briefs from now on. fruit of the loom boxer briefs must now run big because i usually wear size xl in normal underwear and these for some reason didn't fit me right.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  I like these, they are not the ribbed ones, August 12, 2009
By / (Brookline, MA United States)
There are two types of boxer-briefs in the store: the gray waistband ones and the blue waistband ones. The blue waistband type are ribbed and a bit snug. I find them on the uncomfortable side. The gray are a little looser and feel more like boxers. The leg length in the photos does look longer than the ones I have too but it doesn't bother me.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Yeah, I Know it's only Underwear :-), December 21, 2011
By Durham 'Nole Fan (Durham, NC)
Package arrived a day early. Bonus!
I've bought these before and really like the fit. They handle the important area very well. I wear them under workout clothes and just about everything else. They wash "well" meaning they don't have a lot of shrinkage after many washes, although I do dry them on medium heat.

I highly recommend them to anyone.

In general I like these. They are comfortable and fit well. However, one of the four pairs ripped on only my second use right along the seam (inner thigh). They are not so tight that this should have happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly as expected, May 30, 2011
By GJ
I had read numerous reviews of the product and realized they fit a little larger than expected. The bag actually came with a sticker reading 42-44. Given many of the other brands tend to fit smaller than listed, I was quite please with these and will buy more. No issues whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Big AND Tall, April 25, 2011
By Demetrius Jenkins (Boo-Val, FL)
Pretty simple...I'm 6'9" and I weigh more than the charts say that I should and I am enjoying these boxer briefs. The quality of the material has definitely been improved since the last time I bought these, and the length is just good enough to prevent the dreaded "riding-up". We will see how long the elasticity lasts, which will determine if it rides up in the future.

I am a simple guy when it comes to fashion, and I appreciate the "manly" pack of solid black and gray colored boxer briefs.

Basic tools for a basic job.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Rubbish., April 3, 2011
By Validate Your Life (Earth (at times)
Rubbish. These are just rubbish. Simple as that. Dingy, dreary colored, lame, boring, uncomfortable, stretched-out, terrible-fit.

Note, I now only wear briefs so my review of these is incredibly biased. But even if I wore boxers, I'd prob only give this 2-3.

By jasper miller (hilliard, fl., US)
i for the most part buy another brand but i tried the fruit of the loom brand this time. i don't like them as well as the other brand. i don't like the seam that runs down the middle of both legs and i should have bought one size smaller than i normaly wear.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Value, November 4, 2010
By Jim
These are nice and long which is why I bought them. I did notice the sizes run a little big. I usually order a size larger to account for shrinkage but the ones I received should have been even a size smaller. Quality seems good though for how inexpensive they are (I've been paying a lot more for similar style in other brands).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Underwear I've Worn in a Long Time!, June 3, 2010
By Dan
I just got a 4 pack of Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs just like these yesterday, and I must say, they are really comfy! The things I like the best about these boxer briefs are the really soft cotton and the plush-backed waistband. The thing that really impresses me is the fact this underwear was made in a country outside the US (El Salvador), and they're still comfy despite that characteristic! Once again, great job, Fruit of the Loom!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Americans Must Be Getting Fat, October 12, 2010
By jaldeborgh (Boxford, MA)
These seem to be very large versus the sizing. I have worn FOTL boxer briefs for the past 2 or 3 years and the small size has been fine. If anything they have shrunk a little with repeated washings. I was a little surprised that this latest set - also size small - are so relatively loose. I have washed them once and I think this helps but I don't think of myself as being too small for a small - eek. I have a 31 inch waist and haven't changed all that much for 30 years. Hopefully the briefs will shrink as they look well made are and my older pairs have held up well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Finally, decent fitting boxer briefs, February 13, 2012
By JW485 (Sacramento, CA United States)
Recently switched to boxer briefs. Not sure why. Maybe it's a mid-life crisis, and my tidy-whitey jockeys just aren't cutting it anymore. Anyway, finding decent boxer briefs has been tricky. So far, these are the only ones that actually stay fitted/snug by the end of the day. Other brands, like Hanes, go on snug after a wash, but get really stretchy in the legs after a couple of hours wear. Baggy boxer briefs are absolutely NOT a good look, or feel. These Fruit of the Looms stay snug, but not tight. Only thing I don't like are the prominent seems on the back side. Note that the ones I got do seem shorter legged than those pictured on Amazon (which look kind of like bike shorts), but I prefer the shorter boxer brief.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Boxer and brief!, February 3, 2012
By JBG (Earth)
1) Briefs, tight and secures your package. Just a more secure feeling and cooler too.
2) Boxers, more hygienic as it covers more of your nether regions, prevents chafing.

I've almost switched completely over to boxer briefs because it combines the best of both worlds, it is for those times when you want a more secure feeling and more coverage, that's most of the time for me.

Now I only wear briefs when I'm exercising or when it's extra hot and I don't want any extra cotton on my body, and boxers when I'm at home and don't want any restrictions.

These Fruit of the Loom are cheap. The material is also a little thinner, but that's ok because they are cooler and I don't like bulky underwear. A friend of mine says he buys more expensive brands and they last years, but I can get 8 cheap ones for his 1 expensive one. I'd rather buy cheap ones, have more of them and replace as necessary than keep wearing the same one over and over again.

Colors: I love it that these are grey and black. I haven't worn white underwear since I was a kid and have no idea why people even wear white. No matter how good you wipe yourself, you always leave brown skid marks at the bottom and yellow stains in front and by the time I was 12, I discovered that dark underwear covers both and your Mom won't yell at you for not wiping your buttocks cleanly.

Sizing: I've bought them in 2 sizes, L and XL. Both fit ok as the cotton stretches. I wear L when I want it tighter and XL when I want it looser. My waist size is about in between those.

Quality: I've had mine for about a year and they're still good as new. The important thing is to remember to dry them at the Low Heat setting. High heat really damages clothing.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with these ones, especially the price, highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well made, good look., December 4, 2011

I'm a pretty big fan of non-flashy, functional clothing. These are great. They've held up well so far. They are definitely worth the price. They are form fitting, so if you're not into that these probably aren't for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfort for men!, November 4, 2011
By John Mc (New York)
I love the longer leg style and fit of this brand. Fit done right! I tried other brands, they seem to ride up after sitting and lose their shape. These Fruit of the Loom are longer in the leg.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  PERFECT FIT!!!, August 9, 2010

I give these underwear 5 stars for a perfect fit. The length is true...just a couple inches above the knee. I love these, they're soft, comfortable and reasonably priced. Delivery was fast, even for free standard shipping. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Like Wearing a Hairshirt on Your Crotch, February 18, 2012
By Sonny's Dad
My contempt for these underwear runs deep. I felt like I was wearing the underpants version of a hairshirt. If you are a 14th Century Monk seeking to pay penance in a particularly cruel and unusual way, these are for you. If you like to feel intense chafing on your naughty bits just from sitting in meetings all day, these are for you. If you are a masochist, these are for you. To add insult to injury, my leg hair kept getting "caught" in the cheap, porous material and a sharp pinching feeling would result...like someone plucking out your leg hair one by one with tweezers. All.Day.Long. Never has being a cheapskate literally bit me in the rear like this. I changed out of these as soon as I got home from work and eight hours later my posterior still feels like someone took an electric sander to it.

I don't know what's going on with the reviewers who give these five stars. They must have clean shaven legs and skin thicker than a Texas Longhorn. Maybe I got a bad batch? I learned a severe lesson today...cheap undergarments are not even close to worth saving 10 or 20 bucks. Never again. I'm ordering some Calvin Kleins with zero regard for cost. I just hope someone heeds my warning and avoids these cruel abominations manufactured by the sadists at Fruit of the Loom. I hope my suffering was not in vain.
