5.0 out of 5 stars.  Ummm could it be any more solid?, June 17, 2009
By Dad of 4 (Tx)
The thing weighs 40lbs! Nuff said. Seriously the welds are tops. It is bigger than you might think, it is heavier than you think, It is 40lbs of steel plate. This works great for us to pull our camping trailer and a bike rack. Solid solid solid.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Serves the purpose, July 23, 2007

This Dual Extender is great for attaching your bike carrier without having to give up the option of trailing another item. Solid piece of equipment.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Gadget, June 16, 2009
By Flaco (CHILE)
I did not think that I was going to find this product anywhere, cause I needed it. I am in the need of towing a small cargo trailer and my bike carrier as well. I tried this dual hitch, and it does the job. Its solid in construction. Watch your electrical system, cause I had to enlarge mine.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great concept...too short for a Jeep with a rear-mounted tire, December 16, 2008
By Amazon Man (Michigan, USA)
I haven't actually used it yet but boy was I annoyed when I couldn't get it to go in all the way because the rear-mounted tire on my Jeep was in the way. Of course, that was my fault not to have determined that in advance. I ordered an extension, wchih should make it all work just fine. But, an extension takes away a some of the towing capacity and tongue weight. My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to measure up some Jeeps and other SUVs with a rear-mounted tire and then either add a longer version or just tack on 3-4 inches to this model. The seller was great about my order.
Can't wait to hook up my new teardrop trailer (from golittleguy.com) to the bottom receiver and install my Freedom Grill (from BadBoyGriller.com) on the top then head off to a State Park for a little camping next spring.

This is a quality product, I have really put it though some use this year.
build quality is very high quality.
I have backed into things, used it with a motor cycle carrier, bike rack, to go grill, storage rack and box, fuel & tire caddy, trailer, and as a hitch extension.

By Louis J. Landi
Purchased after reading the reviews for this item.
Arrived quickly. Appears to be well made and almost
identical to the one that is sold in a major camping supply
retailer. Highly recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A Bit Crooked, September 10, 2010
By Nancy Jay
I purchased this hitch doubler so we could use a bike rack for 3 - 4 bikes in the upper receiver while pulling our boat trailer in the bottom receiver.

The package arrived just prior to our vacation. When I slid this doubler into the receiver on our 1999 Chevy Express 1500 conversion van, I noticed the upper piece was not welded perfectly straight. Therefore it was slightly out of alignment with the lower piece.

I don't believe this is a major issue, and if it weren't such a heavy item, I would have returned it. Instead we loaded our new bike rack into the upper receiver and off we went.

One big plus was we were able to open the rear doors of our truck with the bike rack and bikes in position, which made retrieving items much simpler.

The functionality of this piece fulfills our needs and it is certainly sturdy, but the execution of the design should have been flawless. Quality control must have been napping when this doubler passed their station.

All in all, I would recommend a doubler.....it frees up so much space in the interior of your vehicle. You can even use the lower receiver for a folding cargo carrier (a future purchase)......just ensure there's clearance between your bikes and the cargo rack so you can actually load items onto the carrier.

Happy trails....

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product, February 3, 2010
By Vishnuvardhan Rao
The product was good and as stated. It fit my needs. I attached it to a cargo carried on my Honda minivan. It helped raise the carrier such that when the van was fully loaded it did not bottom out as often. I used a hitch tightener which did touch the pavement when I pulled out of driveways etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Durable, March 30, 2011
By Rich Cawthron (Lewisville, TX USA)
Bought this to add a bike rack when towing our camping trailer. Very sturdy and heavy duty hitch that works great. Only issue was the length that it added for the original trailer wiring; had to make an extension for the wiring harness so that it would reach the back of the vehicle so be aware if you have a short wiring harness. Otherwise hitch works as delivered and the extra length allows me to open my SUV back window even with the bike rack in the upright position.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Should do the trick..., July 29, 2010
By happy mama (Suwanee, GA)
We needed an extender that would also raise the cargo platform that we were using on the back of our Honda Odyssey. We have not had the opportunity to use it yet, but it appears well constructed and should help our cargo sit well above the van exhaust. Strangely, shipping was an issue which is highly unusual for Amazon. Ordered two and a half weeks before a road trip and scheduled for delivery within 7 days. Received the day AFTER we left town. Thus, we can't comment on the actual performance of the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Hitch Adapter, April 18, 2011
By Jack (KC Mo)
Used this to haul a cargo carrier and a four bike carrier on the back of a Toyota Highlander to South Carolina and back. I had to modify the bike carrier because it wouldn't fit between the top receiver and the cargo carrier. This item is constructed very well and I had absolutely no problems with it. Even overloading it like we did showed no stress in the welds or in the metal. This thing is a beast! That three hundred pound tongue weight thing is a suggestion, right?

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Hitch too long, October 16, 2011
By pc
The hitch is not made to the standard length for the common receiver. I had to cut off 1 inch to get it to fit into the receiver.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Super Solid, September 15, 2011
By BlakeD
This is a very solid item, slight offset from top to bottom but no issues.
The top tube could benifit from a lip like the lower.
I highly recommend some form of hitch tightner, any play between vehicle hitch, extender, and attachment allows for a lot of movement.
I used 3 hitch tightners and everything was solid as a rock. (The lip on the top tube would help the hitch tightners)
Overall great item and came with an additioanl hitch pin!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Heavy Duty - Could be higher, May 15, 2012
By Speedy
This is one heavy duty receiver. It is very well made and works for what I'm using it for. My only complaint is that the riser could be a little higher. I need to remove my bike rack in order to hook up my camper. The hitch doesn't clear when it's open. When closed, it clears.
