2.0 out of 5 stars.  Stop - read this before you buy this accessory, August 2, 2009
By hab (New York)
Stop- This item is a replacement for the quick release bike mounting kit. It does NOT include the new wrist band for the watch. If you want full quick release capabilities you need to buy the KIT, not the replacement bracket. Spend the extra $10,,,it's worth it

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Save Your Money, January 28, 2008
By D. Cook
Save your money. Purchase a section of pipe insulation from your local hardware store. Better yet, go to a home construction site and ask for a scrap piece. Cut about an inch and half section of the insulation. Then cut the section length wise so it opens up. Place it on your bike handlebars and wrap your Garmin w/wrist band around it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  This actually works, April 24, 2008
By TomR (Racine, WI)
I like this idea. Now my Forerunner 305 can be used both on the bike and (with the wrist adaptor I also purchased) when I run. I bought three - one for the road-bike, one for the mountain bike, and one for the tri-bike. The Garmin can handle and records separate for all three bikes.

I jury-rigged it so it sits on the stem and it works well - I crossed the "zippies" versus through the slots where you would normally mount it on the bar. I like it better on the stem.

ONLY ONE CAUTION - if you do what I did and stem-mount it, make sure that the metal watch stems sit tight inside the end clips when you put it on the bike or you'll "launch" the garmin (like I did the first time I tried it) when you hit a bump in the road or a seam in the pavement. The garmin is a tough litle bugger and took the "hit" though.

Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Quick release mount works as advertised, October 10, 2007
By aspiring endurance athlete (Virginia Beach, VA USA)
I have used the Garmin for a little over a year and always had to rig it when on the bike. The quick release mount makes it wasy to use on a run, unclip it from the wrist and clip it on the racing bike and off you go! The second bike mount was terrific for a second bike for commuting.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good but there is a catch, May 6, 2009
By Jamal Faulkner
Works well for what it is however, there is a catch... You have to take the band off the watch to clip it in. Like another reviewer stated (wish I would have listed) its actually easier to find a big piece of foam to cut to size and wrap around your handlebar. This is what I ended up doing and its working great.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Survived the Slickrock Trail, March 24, 2009
By R. M. DaBell (Salt Lake City, UT)
I finished the slickrock trail in Moab, Utah this past weekend and wanted to measure my progress with my Forerunner 205. I was a little apprehensive about taking my GPS because of the roughness of the trail and the possibility of my Garmin popping out and either breaking or getting lost. 3 hours later the GPS is still there and the Quick Release did its job even through a rather rough crash. And even though my elbow has a nasty scrape from the sandstone, the Garmin looks as good as ever. I would definitely recommend this Quick Release to anyone wanting to attach their Forerunner 205/305 to their bikes.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Save the wrist, March 23, 2009
By Dakota Yogi (South Dakota)
Now able to mount my Garmin on the bar vs. my wrist and having to let go of the bar to see exactly how slow I'm going or how lost I am. The only down side is you MUST make sure the watch is firmly snapped in the craddle or it will go flying when you hit the first big bump.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does the job just fine, April 16, 2011
By johnscarf
This bicycle mount for the Garmin 205/305 is the perfect solution for using your Garmin 205/305 on a road and/or a mountain bike. It is easy to install, a few zip ties and you're done; the mount is very secure both to the bike and to the Garmin unit. Because this mount is all plastic there is no worry about rust, or scratching bike surfaces. A simple, inexpensive way of leveraging your existing Garmin unit. Buy several, I did, one for each bike.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesn't work with standard fabric wristband, April 13, 2011
By Eric E. Haas (Holland, MI USA)
Be aware that there are at least two very similar fabric wristbands available for the Garmin Forerunner 305:
- The "Hook and loop fastener wrist", Garmin part number 010-10713-00; and
- The "Quick Release Wrist Strap" that comes with the "Garmin Forerunner Quick Release Kit", Garmin part number 010-10889-00

I already have the first one -- it works well with the attachment means to my Kayak. I **thought** that it was the same strap as comes with the Quick Release Kit -- from a distance they look the same. But they are different. The "Quick Release Wrist Strap" has a hard plastic base on it that the GPS clips on to. The other strap has no such fitting -- so doesn't work with this item.

So I am unable to use this device as intended so far (i.e., to easily switch between the bike clip and the fabric wristband). Don't know (yet) how well the bike clip will work, all I know is that the whole paradigm is incompatible with the fabric wristband I already have.

So I really should have bought the "Garmin Forerunner Quick Release Kit" instead of this product, as it includes the correct "Quick Release Wrist Strap".

5.0 out of 5 stars.  GREAT!!, October 22, 2010
By NickFury
I have 6 bikes so I picked up a few of these. AFter buying the 'kit' from Garmin intially (it comes with a great wriststrap and one of these mounts) I was able to buy a few of these for farily cheap. These things work better than the regular 305 mount and its easy to take the gps on and off.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what it is supposed to, September 20, 2010
By David S. Kaplan (California, USA)
This does exactly what it is supposed to and does it pretty well. It took about a minute to install this to my handle bars, and it is easy to clip in and out the garmin 305. It also holds it in securely. I have one on my Mountain bike and the Garmin stays in place even on the rough trials and over jumps. I also have one on my road bike, and it performs just as good on there.
The only thing i would want different, is there being a way to mount it to the stem rather than the handle bars, but that is neither here nor there...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Accessory for Garmin Forerunner 305, June 25, 2010
By Jennifer O
I purchased this bike mount replacement for a second bike; now I can switch the Garmin Forerunner 305 between my road and hybrid bike with ease and keep track of my miles, etc. Very easy to install and works as described.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Works as intended, just not as easy as the quick release, March 15, 2010
By citadel1980 (Glen Allen, VA)
This works as intended, but you have to strap your watch to it and buckle it in (like you put it on your wrist). Although not difficult, it is not as easy as the quick release unit that I intended to purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works, somewhat expensive, September 10, 2009
By Kevin Le
Bought 3 of these for my bikes to mount my Garmin Forerunner 305. Each comes with mount and 4 zip ties. It worked on my bikes with round handlebars but wasn't compatible with my FSA K-Wing handlebar, which was flat at the mount point. Amazon has the lowest price but $10 for a piece of plastic and some ties is kind of expensive.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works fine, August 14, 2009
By CxAgent (Texas)
I'm only writing this review because Amazon asked. The bike mount works fine. I haven't had any problems with it. I use it on a mountain bike where it gets lots of abuse. It has never lost the Forerunner except when I have hit it with my body in a fall. I can't blame that on the mount - I shouldn't be hitting it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  a must have for any cyclists using the Garmin, January 14, 2012
By My average review score is 3.74.. (San Francisco, CA)
I rate items based on three criteria - Does it work as advertised? Does the value justify the cost? Does it improve my life. I put my recommendation at the top, then answer those three questions below.

RECOMMENDATION

This is a must have for any cyclists using the Garmin for their computer.

FUNCTIONALITY

The velcro replacement wristband is actually an improvement over the wristband the Garmin unit actually ships with. I love it.

VALUE

No question. Buy it! It's all plastic and feels a little cheap, but the price still makes it a bargain.

DOES IT IMPROVE MY LIFE?

Yep. Faster/easier transition during races, and better overall wristband for the 305.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does the job, January 7, 2012
By Kayaker
This seems pretty expensive for what it is but it's not a budget buster and it certainly does the job. I can't really say that I like the zip-tie fasteners, but they work. If you ever need to move it, you have to cut the ties and get new ones. I have a bike mount for my eTrex that is a clam shell set up with a set screw and I much prefer that because you can move it around all you want just by loosening the screw.

I got 2 of these so I could have one on both bikes. I have read reviews of 305's flying off of these mounts on rough roads and I even talked to a guy who said that it happened to him. I've never had this problem and it seems to hold my 305 on very snugly. The quick release is great if you are doing multi-sport events.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Slick but not durable., May 2, 2012
By John McMahon
I've had two of them fail in the same location on the front of the mount, but Garmin refuses to admit there is any kind of issue and won't provide any warranty replacements. It still is the slickest way to mount for a quick release from the bike even though strapping the wrist strap around a piece of pipe insulation or buying Garmin's adapter for this purpose may be more robust in the long run. If you buy one, make sure you keep an eye on the narrow sections in the front for cracks as they will fail eventually and you won't be happy if you lose your forerunner in the process.
