3.0 out of 5 stars.  Attachment unreliable, November 27, 2009
By ez
The light itself is great. It comes with two different options for attaching it to your bike: (1) a loop to go around a post or (2) a belt-clip. The problem is how it attaches to the different attachment devices. It slides into a slot until it clicks. It seems really secure...until you go over a hard bump when going fast downhill. I heard it smash to the ground, and I expected that the belt-clip had slid off, but that part was still attached to my pannier. The light detached itself from the belt-clip. This is after about 2-3 weeks of use. It was in pieces all over the road. I was able to find all the parts and put it back together, but beware of this problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  High quality, good function, June 1, 2008
By C. L. (SF,CA)
Very high quality, with 3 modes of LED flashing pattern, easy to mount, comes with plastic strip to grip the bars tightly, easy to be taken off, can be mounted on a bar or (it also comes with a clip) that you can clip on anything.
Light module itself can be remove alone for battery change or other purpose.

Most importantly, it comes with batteries!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  really simple to attach !, May 12, 2008
By Jaime Navarrete (SP, Brazil)
Basic functionallity needed so dont be expecting any amazing light show.. but for what is actually needed from a Safety Light, it does the work really good !. The best part is how simple is to attach and detouch from my son's bike. It also come with an extra "attaching piece" that allows me to use it with my bike tool bag. Really good for the price. I recomend it for sure !

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Be seen from the FRONT, not just from the rear., August 6, 2010
By Bo88y
I got the White 3-LED version of this light for the front of my bike, and love it (there's a 5-LED version, too). In researching bike lights, I came across the seeing / being seen distinction, something a lot of riders seem unaware of. Flashlight / headlight units aren't very attention-grabbing, and when driving the car, I have noticed how easy they are not to notice. Since I ride in a well-lighted city, I don't need a headlight, but I do need to be seen and noticed. And if I did need a headlight, I'd have two lights, one to see, and another to be seen, since the two functions are quite distinct.
~ Another thing I noticed from driving: a light that has separate elements blinking non-simultaneously is a lot more noticeable than a single blinking light or a multi-light blinking as a unit, which could be mistaken for a steady light coming into and going out of view (many of the lights in a busy street come into and go out of view as cars maneuver around one another). Lights blinking "against" one another provide a kind of visual reference for one another that distinguishes them from the common flow of moving lights.
~ These white, separately-blinking lights are a major step up in front noticeability from the usual headlight units, whether the latter blink or not. If you need a light to illuminate your way, get a light suited to that purpose. (Planet Bike's 1-watt Blaze is a very cost-effective one.) But for being seen from the front, the WHITE Cateye TL-LD150 or TL-LD130 (5 and 3 LEDs, respectively) are the best available candidates.
~ Sorry for the length, but I feel that the details are necesary to make the case for these lights. A headlight is not a substitute for one of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great - and fits the right technique perfectly, May 26, 2010
By tom
After having my taillight stolen (and, before that, my bike stolen), I got this safety light, after receiving the golden advice from a coworker - put your light on your bag. That way, you don't forget to grab it off your bike. Plus, very often it's at a better height for drivers to see it and not obscured by your... rear. And this light is great - the clip is sturdy and holds well, and the light is very bright. The fact that holding down on the button turns it off means that you can reach behind you and turn it off without looking - a very subtle, but real-world advantage in the interface.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent taillight., June 6, 2010
By moseseatonjr (Philadelphia,PA)
I use this tail light on ALL of my bicycles. It is super bright and can be seen from a a fair distance. You can choose from three options in light pattern from a constant on, to a flashing mode to the one I prefer a "chasing" random pattern. This mode not only saves the batteries, but being LED they last for quite a while anyway. And it makes drivers slow down and pay attention. One feature I like is that once you click the side button and choose the mode you like, the light stays in that mode. To shut it off you simply hold the button in for several seconds and it shuts off, touch it once to turn it on and it will be in the mode you left it in, this is not true for other tail lights and you continually have to fuss with them to get back to the mosde you prefer. This is my favorite tail light sold on the market period.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for rear rack., June 30, 2009
By joho@mo (Ozark)
Purchased this to mount on a rear rack. It may be that many of these devices come with mounting hardware for this use, but that was not at all clear for most devices while shopping online. This durable and extremely (almost painfully) bright light came with multiple very easy mounting options. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Powerful Strobe, February 24, 2009

This tail light has a very powerful strobe and the batteries last a long time. There are lots of choices for a light of this type, but this one is a nice balance of quality and value.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  careful where you clip it..., September 25, 2009
By D. Pittman (San Antonio, TX)
Great battery life, very bright - do not stare into light with remaining good eye. Light weight enough to use while running at night. Just be careful if you clip the light - the clip has a "hooked" lip on the edge to make it easier to slip over material, but that lip will start rubbing a sore on your skin. A slight mod with dremel or file will smooth it out. DP

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good buy for the money!, August 14, 2009
By Nicole (Omaha, NE)
I've been trying in vain to find a reliable taillight for my bike, and have been veering away from little plastic doodads, however, this Cateye taillight is of decent quality and really does the trick! The batteries are easy to replace and the different settings are effective: steady, blinking and wild and crazy blinking and blonking (my favorite). Definitely set it to one of the blinking options to extend battery life. Happy and safe biking!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright, sturdy, February 2, 2009
By Carl W. Davis
Nice bright led tail light for night biking. Standard solid red or flashing modes plus a strange scrolling/blinking pattern. Press the single button once to turn it on, once to change modes, and hold it down to turn it off.

The connector seems sturdier than the one which broke off the previous Cateye model I had. Also has a clip built in to the connector so you can stick it on your backpack or wherever.

My only complaint is that I wish you had to hold it down to turn it on - would keep it from turning on accidentally when I stick it in my backpack.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  lost the light on the first day, September 20, 2010
By Anna (Boston, MA)
I had the same as a couple of other reviewers. The light fell off the clip when my bike hit a bump. The only problem is that I did not hear it fall, so I didn't notice it missing until I got home. Very disappointed, I really wanted to like it since there are a lot of great reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect: I'm glad I bought three, August 29, 2010
By sonnojoi (Minneapolis, MN USA)
This is an excellent bike light. The mount is very well designed and can attach to various parts of bikes and racks easily. The clip allows you to easily attach the light to your clothing, backpack, dog's collar, etc. The light sits securely but removes easily from the mount and the clip, allowing you to switch back and fourth. I do a lot of night riding, so I bought three Cateye LD130's and have one as a tail light and one mounted on each side of my fork so that I'm visible from all directions. I may look like a Christmas tree, but I'm confident of being visible.

For my headlight I use a CygoLite Rover II LED Dual High-Brightness LED Bicycle Light which has also served me excellently.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cateye TL-LD130 Bicycle Tail Light: Good value for the $$, June 14, 2010
By stuk_at_work (NJ)
I've owned Cateye products before, so when it came time to equip my new bicycle, Cateye was one of the manufacturers I zeroed in on when I did my Amazon search. This particular model was inexpensive, easy to install and operate. The extra clip for using this item off the bike was a nice touch, although I'm not sure when I would actually use it.

I was hesitant to order this, after reading some of the mixed reviews.I just received it,and mounted it,and it works purrrfectly! I mounted it to the clamp on the bottom of the seat. I added a piece of helmet foam to secure the grip, and it worked beautifully, and I have 100% visibility of the light. Thanks Amazon..for coming through again and again. Capt. C

5.0 out of 5 stars.  GREAT TAIL LIGHT FOR THE MONEY, December 19, 2009
By Joycer (Florida Keys)
We ride bikes in the evening and night in an area with narrow streets. There is no doubt that any vehicle approaching us from behind will see us riding. There are a lot of elderly drivers in our area, so this gives a little more assurance that we will be seen by them. It is very bright and cannot be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Rear blinking bike Light, November 3, 2009
By A. Disch
Works great, bright, the only thing that would make this better is if it came with an arm band and if the item had a clip on the back. As it is it only clips into the device it comes with and cannot be attached to and armband, pack strap, etc. However, for leaving it on the bike, its perfect (and it snaps on and off really easily)!

By Riding2Heaven (San Diego, CA)
Amazon shipped this very quickly. Less than a week. I highly recommend this rear bike light. The quality of the parts is great. (not cheap plastic). Great 3 modes to use, flashing, Chaser and regular on. Very bright that it hurts the eyes, so cars will definitely see you from afar. Nice clean white led light, instead of the usual basic red rear lights...."anyone who rides at night alot, do get this light...its great..!!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke Within a Week, August 18, 2009
By Jeffrey B. Clair (Chiang Rai, Thailand)
My second or third time out riding with the light, I was using the clip. I hit a rough patch of road and the light popped out of the clip and hit the ground. I put it back together but there was a short circuit somewhere. So now the only way to turn it on is to take the batteries out and re-install. It also goes off and on at random time so it is basically useless. I am hesitant to buy another because it is obviously not very durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Great ! Easy to Install !!, March 4, 2011
By VisionCrys (Arkansas)
I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for my friend. We have started to go riding downtown in the city at night and decided it would probably be a good idea to be seen a little better. So i started looking for a tail light and wanted to get one of the super bright ones but that would not work for us considering we ride behind each other a lot and would be blinded lol.

Anyway this Cateye LED was perfect for us. It is plenty bright to be seen from a long distance without being a nuisance, especially in the city that is fairly lit in most places anyway, and you absolutely cannot beat the price. 10 bucks for a great name brand product that does it's job, has 3 great light patterns, secures very well by non permanent cable tie style, and also comes with a separate clip in case you want it higher up on your shirt or if your a runner.

I would definitely recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent little light, August 16, 2011
By tehjayemeffsee
This is a great little light. The attachment system is really versatile. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and the angle is adjustable. There is also a quick release, so you can leave the bracket on the bike with the light removed. Battery life is nearly infinite. I have two of these (one of them for 2+ years now), and have never changed batteries. And it's very visible, too. I can't imagine the need for anything brighter.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Strong, Bright Light, but Poor Design, March 14, 2011
By rpd1226
I bought this light a little over a week ago. It is really easy to install and the light is surprisingly powerful. Unfortunately on my first ride, when I arrived at my destination, I noticed the cover of the light had fallen off along the way. I immediately contacted the bike store I bought it from (since they initially installed for me), assuming they didn't snap the cover all the way on. They gave me a new cover which I replaced myself (paranoia). It's now less than a week later and on my ride into work, the cover popped off again. This could just be bad luck, but this kind of turned me off (literally) from this brand. I went to the website to purchase a replacement cover, but they don't seem to sell them (only replacement brackets.) It's quite a shame, since this light came highly recommended to me from my local bike store.

By DaveCound (Algona, Iowa USA)
This light is just what I was looking for. Is plenty bright, almost blinding up close!! Has adjustments so you can mount horizontally or vertically which is handy sometimes with all the different types of bikes. Hard to mount horizontally on back unless you have enough room. For the price I would strongly recommend this light.

By Jamar Johnson (Bozeman, MT.)
I bought a couple of these lights for my bikes. They work fine so far. Like many bike lights I expect these not to last very long considering how harsh I treat my bikes plus they are made out of the same old stuff: easily breakable plastics. I wasn't expecting anything else though so I am happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A well designed quality tail light, well bought, November 8, 2011
By winox essential (San Francisco, CA USA)
This tail light is well-designed, very light weight, and very easily to install. It has 3 bright LED's and 3 modes: random individual LED blinking; blinking of all LED's simultaneously; and constant-on. It uses 2 AAA batteries. It stays firmly mounted despite riding over rough pavement, and the mounting strap was really easy to install using the thumb knob that turns a "worm" type thread across the mounting strap. This strap is quite firm around the seat post without much stress to the mounting system.
To avert temptation by thieves, you can easily remove the unit by depressing a tab and sliding off the unit, when the bike is parked unattended. I give this tail light 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid light, great price, November 5, 2011
By JMelis
I bought this light for my GMC Denali Road bike. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, providing a bright light that is easy to see. There are a couple of different flashing patterns so that is handy to have. The mount easily fit on to my bike and I like how the light itself comes off of the mount so that you don't have to leave it on your bike. I have not had any problems with the light falling off and I ride over some fairly bumpy terrain. My only wish would be that the light be oriented so that when you place it into the mounting bracket you would push it down rather than from the side. Otherwise this is a solid light that is at a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  best bang for the buck, October 26, 2011
By Alberto Vargas (San Francisco, CA USA)
This must be the best white bicycle light for the money (and I have tried a few different ones including much more expensive ones). It is very easy to attach to the bike without any tools, and it also has an alternative attachment option for backpacks, clothing, etc. It is bright and has multiple flashing patterns so you can be seen at night or in low light situations. It is not bright enough in my opinion to light up a dark road or trail, but for urban situations it is good enough since you just want to be visible to drivers. Unlike many other lights, this one uses just two AAA batteries (included) instead of the odd three that seems to be more common. I have not yet tried it in rainy weather, so I cannot comment on waterproofness, but so far I am very happy with this light. The red version (tail light) is also awesome.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright, seems sturdy., January 22, 2012
By Z. Mensinger (Albany, CA)
Have used this a couple weeks now. Everything works great so far. The light it bright, so I'm not quite as worried about being seen at night now while riding my bike. Was using just a headlamp before, and I think the angle wasn't quite right for good visibility. This light is easy to install, stays put in the mount. After reading some reviews about it popping open, I put a couple pieces of scotch tape to keep the front clear part attached, though this was strictly pre-emptive measure, since it hadn't popped open on me.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very bright and easy to use!, January 21, 2012
By Dana M. Thomas (Daytona Beach, Florida)
I was looking for a sleek bike light that was easy to use and attached even easier. The attachment was quick and easy and I had it installed in no time. I like that the light has 3 different flash settings so that I may choose which one I want. The only thing I don't like is that you have to hold the button in order to turn it off - I would prefer that to be an option with the button. Nonetheless, this is a great bike light for a great price!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fantastic Light, August 25, 2010

This is a great little light. The mounting hardware is brilliant and very easy to use. It's also easily adjustable to nearly any size you need. Very bright light - very good visibility.
