4.0 out of 5 stars.  A.R.S. Bike Saddle Review, June 24, 2010
By Xave (North burbs of Chicago)
Length:: 3:44 Mins

Like many of you I researched different types of bike saddles hoping to find a good mix of comfort and performance. I created this video to share my experiences with this seat so others could make a more informed decision before buying. I've added specific measurements and my overall thoughts on the seat. You be the judge if this saddle is right for you. Happy riding!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best seat I've owned, June 20, 2007
By GearInches (MO, USA)
Over the years, I've owned everything from Selle San Marco to Specialized Body Geometry, and this seat is seriously the most comfortable seat I've ever owned. If you're looking for the lightest seat around, this isn't it; mine weighs 390 grams. But if you want to be comfortable for hours on end, buy this seat. I can't recommend it enough. I do my best to keep my mountain bike under 20lbs., so I've saved weight elsewhere to make up for the extra grams of this seat and it's totally worth it. I plan on buying the women's version for my wife soon, too.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  It hurts!, May 9, 2008
By Felix Sonderkammer (Somerville, MA)
I bought this saddle for "anatomical relief." But the saddle actually caused more problems. The "neck" of the saddle is wider than that of a normal saddle, and it is higher. So even though there is a hole in the middle of the neck, you feel the neck more as you ride in comparison to a normal saddle. Instead of just cutting off circulation like a normal saddle, it actually causes aching pain that lasts long after I've stopped riding.

Also, the logos you see on the side of the saddle are decals or stickers that begin wearing and peeling off during the first week of use. Very cheap-looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great seat, just what I needed, July 23, 2008
By Library Lady (Nashville, TN)
Over the last 10 years, I've ridden about 1,000 miles a year. Most rides are 20 to 40 miles with a few up to 60. Last year I did 2,000 and developed a lot of pain on the points of my sit bones (where presumable you are suppose to put your weight). I was riding a Koobi Enduro for about 2 years (which previously worked OK). Before that, I road a basic Serfas gel saddle (and really liked it until I started using aero bars due to stressed muscles in my left hand). The Serfas was not split and did not allow riding with bars without undue pressure on the prostate. In any event, every bike store I talk to and every article I read talks about the importance of a firm saddle. Well, maybe that's generally true but this saddle has been a great change for me (more cushion than the average serious bike seat). My sit bones are almost back to normal and the split allows me to keep pressure away from "important areas". No problems there. I ride about half in the aero bars and half sitting up, frequently shifting positions and weight to avoid injury and discomfort. When in the bars, I try to keep no more than 40% of my weight in the saddle, maybe 40% on pedals and 20% in bars. When sitting up, probably 50%, 40%, 10%. Seems to be working OK. Best advice, if it hurts, don't do it. I have a friend that just road until he was numb. Needless to say, he's got serious problems now. Seems like a duh, but apparently not. Happy riding! (oh, I'm I guy, Library Lady is my wife...lol)

2.0 out of 5 stars.  You've got to be kidding !!!!! Like torture interrogation by terrorists !, September 13, 2010
By Bugman (Lewes, DE United States)
I honestly cannot believe how ANYone could say all the glowing things I read in here -- "the most comfortable seat I've ever owned..." blah blah blah. Wow are you crazy? This thing is HARD as a rock. It has NO suspension, so you feel every bump. It is WAY too narrow -- about 6.5" wide at most. It is a torture device. The Amazon reviews REALLY led me wrong in this case....

I am 5" 11", athletic build, 195#, 34" waist. I do not have an extra wide butt by any means. Yet this thing is so narrow that it usually rides BETWEEN my ischial tuberosities --- MOST uncomfortable. With a ride 1.25 miles to work, I am in some pretty serious discomfort. Previously with the stock seat that came on my Raleigh hybrid, I could ride 16 miles before getting mild discomfort.

I stuck it out and rode with this thing for 3 weeks, but finally I just had to ditch it and go back to my stock seat. Previously I'd used a Cloud-9 seat and thought that was great, so I'm going to get an upgraded one they call "Extra Deep Relief Bicycle seat". I'd highly recommend the brand to people interested in comfort.

This planet bike seat LOOKS great - if that's important to you. It DOES unload the pressure to your perineum - by sacrificing your BUTT. So your junk still works, but you can't walk far enough to get to the bedroom to use your junk anyway.

This seat might be ok for a racer who is not putting ANY weight on the seat - pretty much riding with 90% of his weight on the pedals and wrists. But if you're looking for true comfort on a cruiser or hybrid bike, look elsewhere.

Pros: price $20, styling, looks, relief to perineum, installation, lightweight.
Cons: PAINFUL TO SIT ON !!! So nothing else matters.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  I can't believe it works, but it does, June 8, 2009
By James A. Kenefick (Hamden, CT USA)
I'm a big guy, and I've been looking for a saddle that relieves pressure in "that area" for some time. Now that I have put 150 miles on this saddle, I can say I found it. Cheap, too! Unfortunately I think the materials are a bit on the cheap side as well. I don't expect it to last years and years, but at these prices I can afford to swap it out of the fabric splits.

Like others, the decals are peeling off of mine quickly, but that's OK. I would rather it didn't have big bright logos against the black material. The important thing is, my big wide butt fits on this saddle just right: it tucks up and supports the sit bones without pressing in on "that area" and making things sore or worse, numb.

If they made this in a more durable material I would never buy another saddle ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  deep channel a plus, August 24, 2008
By G. Pagel (KY)
After miles of bike riding, there were no numb spots. The deep channel made huge difference. Seat was slightly wider than I'd like, but the trade off was worth having no numbness.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Planet Bike's A.R.S. = Mountain Bike Comfort, July 9, 2009
By JargonTalk (Bucks County, PA USA)
Let's face it, bike seats are going to wear out over time. The most expensive saddles are going to break down over time, and even with a premium gel seat from five or six years ago, you're going to feel the pain in that "important area" when you take a drop with an mountain bike (MTB) or bump a curb with a street cruiser.

If you look carefully at the photos of this Planet Bike Men's A.R.S. Anatomic Relief Bicycle Saddle you'll see that it has a cut-out center relief zone in just the right area. From a personal perspective this rider found that the "love channel" section works like a champ, and after riding for a couple of hours I found that my backside wasn't sore and my crotch never felt like it was numb or falling asleep. Have been using this particular seat on my primary MTB for over a year now, and have no compelling reason to change to another.

Do keep in mind that any saddle, regardless of price, has to be adjusted to the individual rider, and it might take a day or two (or three) to do this. Carry your simple adjustment tools with you and you can do it while you're riding, and you'll find the investment of time will pay off in riding comfort.

Also worthy of consideration is the economical and well-made Schwinn Adult Ergonomic Bicycle Saddle, a similar product with a slightly different though quite comfortable feel. This is one that I've used for a couple of years on my secondary MTB with excellent results. Also had occasion recently to try a bike equipped with a Serfas Pro-Flo Men's Bicycle Saddle, but personally didn't find that one quite as comfortible as the offerings from Planet Bike or the one from Schwinn.

There are many great gel seats on the market that cost more (and some that run less) than this Planet Bike A.R.S. Anatomic Relief Saddle, and it almost seems that a bike seat of this price shouldn't be given any more than a 4-star rating. On the other hand, once this saddle is adjusted properly, it's a 5-star ride, and that's all that counts. It's well-made, durable, and highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  works for me, December 26, 2009
By K. Vanous (Las Vegas,NV USA)
I like this saddle. I have put about 1,000 miles on it without bike shorts in the city. I had tried two other seats until this one stayed on my bike because it works well for me so far. I am an average build, average weight, male. I use this seat for 5 mile rides, twice a day, for 5 for 6 days a week, every week.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great saddle at a great price!, December 21, 2010
By Matt Foley (Philadelphia, PA)
I shopped around for a saddle and after seeing the prices out there, I was starting to wonder if I really needed a new saddle. Then I ran across this one, read the reviews and with the price, I figured I would give it a try. It was the right choice! I love the saddle...it has added comfort to my rides, without feeling "too big." I'm a big man, (6'3" 280lbs), so comfort is a big issue for me in a sport that is designed for people half my size. and this saddle delivered! Within a few weeks of getting this I was able to go on a 4 hour ride. I never would have survived that ride with my old saddle.

The one issue is the logos on it are a bit dorky, but the good news is that they fall off after a couple of rides!

Since this seat worked out so well, I have gone on to buy some other Plant Bike stuff (lights, etc) and I love them all. Great value for the prices they charge. Nice to see a company provide some good products in a sport where most of the stuff is so overpriced!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  better than the stock seat I replaced, July 27, 2009
By Jeff Bearer (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
This seat does what I expected it's more comfortable than the seat that came with my bike.

One thing to be aware of is that the amazon description is wrong!

It says "Ultra Suede cover is durable and weatherproof" But the majority of the seat, the black portions of the black and gray seat, is Lycra. The packaging that comes with the seat, says Lycra, so it's Amazon's mistake and not that of the seat manufacturer.

I'm disappointed because I wanted an all leather seat that wouldn't suck up by butt sweat. But for [...] I guess I can't be that upset.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  not as confortable as others claimed..., March 23, 2009
By Alain
I bought this item after reading all the glowing reviews - and the sadle that came with my full suspension moutain bike left me soar the next day so much that it would hurt just to sit down...

well, I've ridden this one 3 times so far and I can say that I wasn't sore the next day after hard moutain biking for 2+h rides, so this was a big improvement - a no brainer for only $[...].

However all is not perfect - I find it to be unconfortable while riding, where I need to reposition my butt around during long climbs while my previous paper thin one wasn't (but oh what a pain the next few days it was). People mention how soft it is, but I find it still rather firm top (doesn't have a gel top or anything - seem like all 1 density foam). Also the decal rubbed partially off on the very first ride as another review mentioned - cheap - and the side already has a crease from my weight (200lbs) but that's decoration so who cares....

I almost didn't buy this seat because it looked so wide in the picture - turns out it's not much wider than my old one, but is much shorter (by 1.5" !) so it looks a bit more stubby. Black and silver look very futuristic. Weight was barely more than my paper thin one (couldn't beleive how heavy mine was with hardly any padding).

For $[...] can't complain too much. Ideally it would be a bit wider and longer for me (I'm 6.3 and the seat feels small) and have soft gel top (dealing with rough terrain here ! maybe it's the non curvy shape since my old thin one was ok there).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very comfortable, May 8, 2008
By daedalus (San Francisco)
I've ridden a couple of times on this saddle and I find it to be quite comfortable so far. It looks a little goofy if your used to sleek narrow saddles, but if you've reached that point in your life where comfort trumps style, this is a good option. Also, you can't beat the price! I priced other "relief" saddles in the bike shop and I really do wonder where they get off asking over $100.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  It hurt for a week, September 30, 2009
By Alicia L Chandler (Erie, PA)
My husband bought this seat, and here is his review:

I put on this seat as a replacement for the stock seat on my bike. I realized at first it had less padding and was right on my sit bones, exactly what I was looking for. However, something about the seat design caused the bottom of my legs to hurt. And they hurt for a week. Somehow this seat gave me a horrible saddle sore. I thought about trying to toughen up, but decided this seat was not worth it. I switched back to my stock saddle without ever trying this one again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Highly recommend this seat!, July 22, 2009
By Amazon Aficionado (CA)
I did a ton of research on Amazon and found this seat to be reasonably priced and had the best reviews. I received it quickly and put it on for the ride home last night. I love it! I've owned two other anatomical seats (Terrys). Both were more expensive and less comfortable. Also!, you'll be pleasantly surprised with how compact this seat is. I thought because it was so well reviewed that it must be huge and the reviewers all less than avid cyclists. It's only about an inch wider and 1/2 inch taller than my MTB saddle from Terry but more comfortable. I will probably order another one just to have on hand in case they discontinue it, before it wears out. Not that the quality looks bad, but just in case.

Very comfortable. The only thing is,the imprint on the side is "ARS". Well, at least now I know where to park mine when I ride. One word of caution; it does not come with the bracket needed to mount it to the post.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Seat, November 23, 2010
By Tim
I have enjoyed this seat very much having about 200 miles on it in 15 mile daily rides. I am new to biking and everyone told me that I need to buy padded shorts. I find this seat very comfortable and opt for it alone with normal shorts for a 15 mile ride. The seat is a little wider than a standard racing seat but for me I prefer.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Bike Seat, June 26, 2010
By M. Selensky (Oklahoma)
I bought a Trek road bike June 2009. The reviews for the bike said the seat sucked so I knew I was going to buy a new seat for the bike. I looked at the local bike shops and they wanted an arm and a leg for seats. Looked on Amazon and came across this little gem. I bought this seat based on the previous reviews. I was not disappointed. I rode my bike for over 1000 miles in 3 months last year. In Aug 2009 I rode a century ride (100 miles) at Hotter Than Hell 100 in Wichita Falls, Texas. This seat performed exceptionally well throughout my summer training and the 100 mile ride. I couldn't be happier. I'm back on my bike this summer and the seat has not deteriorated at all. Still very comfortable and performs well. I noticed the price has gone up from last summer. Still I think its a good deal for a great seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice seat, April 12, 2009
By Old Biker Dude (West Virginia)
After reading the other reviews, I was expecting a much larger seat....this was just slightly larger than my road bike's orginal seat. I was also not as soft as I expected. It was still softer than the orginal medival torture device that came on the bike. It did still require some butt hardening.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap, September 21, 2009
By Old School MTB (Denver)
Cheap price? Yep. Comfortable saddle? Nope. This saddle is good for a short ride, a half hour or so. Longer? Forget it. I bought this saddle based on the reviews and sorry I blew $20 on it. I was out for my weekend 50 mile ride and after an hour my backside said no more. I found the nearest bike shop and bought a new saddle and finished the ride in comfort.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good seat!, June 25, 2011
By L.A. Biker (Lost Angeles, somewhere out in the smog)
I was looking for a newer-style bike seat with the prostate-relief channel in it because as an aging male [I refuse to admit to being "middle-aged." Argh! When did *that* happen?] cyclist, I need to take better care of that portion of my anatomy which has received a beating at the mercy of cheap bike seats over the last couple decades.

I'm no "cycle hero" weekend-warrior out to ride 50 miles in my dayglo spandex & annoy drivers on the weekend: I'm a daily commuter who wants a reasonably comfortable perch to support my Clydesdale [200+ lbs] body mass.

This seat does it well. It will seem quite stiff, uncomfortably so, at first. That's *good*, believe it or not! Seats that are soft when you first put them on will break down in short order under daily use, either failing completely or leaving you sitting on the metal support bars. This seat has broken in nicely in the short time I've had it: it still feels quite stiff compared to my old "comfort" saddle when I 1st hop on the bike, but minutes after getting under way it is no longer noticeable and I definitely notice a greater degree of comfort from my prostal region [aka "jiggly bits" or "wedding tackle."]

I give this saddle a big thumbs up!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for Short to Medium Range Rides, May 19, 2011
By akas (Dayton, OH)
I owned this seat for about a year and a half and put over 7000 miles on it. The seat is comfortable, relatively light, and does not put pressure on the perineum. However, on longer rides (i.e. 100+) it caused a significant amount of friction on my thighs/rear due to the compression/expansion of the foam within the seat. While this was unnoticeable on shorter duration rides, it compounded on the longer ones and I was left with several saddle sores after a year of use.

After a 300 mile ride over one weekend I ended up replacing the seat with a Brooks B17. So far, I've been saddle sore free and have never looked back.

In short, this is a great seat for shorter conventional rides. But if you enjoy going on longer rides, you should probably invest in a Brooks. While more expensive, it's the best touring seat around and you will end up enjoying touring/randonneuring much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Learn about anatomy, April 14, 2011
By MussSyke
An absolute must buy, and I'll tell you why:

Whenever I heard about a link between impotence and biking, I always had the wrong idea about what the connection was. It's actually that you're sitting on your perenium to ride, which, when crushed under average weight (which it is not supposed to bear), keeps blood from getting to your nads, over time making one impotent.

Now that I saved you an embarrassing trip to Wikipedia, you can see why these split-seat designs save (unborn) lives.

It's not about @$$ pain - I can handle that. But when I realized that pain was something else, I didn't want it anymore. Not even for a second. With this seat, I have not once thought I was doing the important part of my body any damage, and for that I recommend it.

Other great things: Price and looks (especially after you rub the labels off).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bike Seat!, January 4, 2011
By matt
Wonderful bike seat! I had to get a new seat after my old one was stolen and I must say this seat is very comfortable. I go on 1-2 hour long rides several times a week so I needed a seat that would keep me comfortable for the long haul and this seat does that. With my old seat I would start to get very uncomfortable and even experience some pain after 45 minutes or so, but this seat keeps me comfy for the whole 2 hours! The price is right as well, because there are a lot of seats that are much more expensive and I bet they wouldn't neccisarily be any more comfortable than this one.

All in all, if you want a seat that is comfortable and cheap then do yourself a favor and get this seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable saddle for the price., October 22, 2010
By C. Warner
This seat is well constructed and will definitely take away the pain of an uncomfortable seat. On my previous seat by Vader I couldn't sit and ride comfortably without being hunched over as it's primarily a road seat; thin, light, hard. This seat even though it's a bit broader than your typical road seat is definitely designed with a sitting ride feel to it. Great purchase, we'll see how it holds up over time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  It's ok, April 9, 2010
By D. Wong (sf bay area)
As with all seats, forward/backward and tilt adjustment is critical for saving your crotch from that numbing feeling one gets while riding for too long. This one's no different. The grove, does seem to provide a bit more relief once you've got the seat in a comfortable position though (either that or things my body's molded itself to the seat). Overall, not a bad buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Saddle, January 1, 2010
By H. Wideman (Wisconsin)
I took a 1,400 mile trip on this saddle, and couldn't be happier. The logo wears off after a couple hundred miles, but I haven't noticed any deterioration of the actual saddle. I was worried the foam inside would distort or lose it's spring, but not so far.

One thing to remember though is that this saddle is a sponge if it gets wet. You can squeeze out most of the water, and it dries surprisingly fast, but it's something to keep in mind.

Keep riding!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Seat!, January 1, 2009
By Allen (San Francisco, CA)
This is a very comfortable seat. I had an older (2006) WTB Speed V saddle and it was awful. The neck was too thick. This neck is slightly thinner and more malleable. Gives your legs enough room/area to pedal fast but gives your sit bones enough cushion and support not to make you sore or numb during the ride. This seat rides very similar to my WTB Pure V, very comfy! (once adjusted correctly)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  comfy and very ride-able, and not fat and ugly, May 31, 2008

The bike I bought came with a Biologic hard cheap saddle. My tailbone and [...] was taking a beating not to mention what the arteries that supply my love life, they must have been going though it. I bought one of these on Amazon and immediately bought 2 more after my 1st ride. I'd say out of 5 different bikes and 7 saddles I've owned this was the most comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Saddle!, May 27, 2008
By Joseph Killingbeck (La Porte, Indiana USA)
I just finished my first 50 mile bike ride. I have never been so satisfied as I am with the comfort level provided by this saddle. There is no way I could have comfortably made a ride that long with the saddle that came with my new bike. I would recommend the saddle to anyone who likes to bike some decent distances and who doesn't neccessarily care about every gram of weight they add to their bike. It does add some weight (even though it isn't actually that much weight), but the comfort level far outweighs the actual weight. Give your behind a break, and treat yourself to a great ssaddle!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great seat, December 1, 2008
By J. Ferreira (Fla)
I have been riding for about 6 months, about 60-80 miles a week. The seat that came with my road bike was highly rated, but it hurt. I hated it and never got use to the pain. I bought this seat for two reasons, the price and the reviews. 20 bucks speaks for it self. The reviews were right on The seat has been great. It does not add that much weight and the comfort is outstanding. You cannot go wrong with this seat. If you ride on tour with the pros you might find some fault, but for the avid rider I think you will love it. And if not, I will buy it off you for 10$.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  No Anatomic Relief!!! Seat Does Not Perform As Advertised!!!, March 9, 2010
By video expert (United States)
I purchased this item for male anatomic relief but the seat provided absolutely NO relief! Sent it back to the vendor for a refund - the whole ordeal cost me about $15. in the end after the shipping charges and restocking fee! I'll never buy from Bike World again!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Makes My Bike Ride Much Smoother, August 5, 2011
By Ian Shumaker (Lansdale, PA USA)
I often ride my road bike on a series of roads that have speed bumps, bridges with bumpy approaches and potholes. I have gotten into the habit of standing on my pedals to avoid the severe impact these bumps can cause. Not to be indelicate but these bumps often feel like a large crowbar to the "naughty bits." And this is with good quality padded biking shorts. I saw this seat on Amazon, did a bit of research, and finally decided to give it a try. I've had the chance to use it on two 28 mile rides with the full compliment of bumpy features. Hooray! No more standing on the pedals; no more crowbar to the, well you know. Additionally, I used to slow down considerably before hitting these bumps. Going slow is not why I bought a good road bike. I don't have to slow down any more. The padding on this seat lessens the severity of the bump. You still get the bump but with this seat the reduced impact is delivered to areas that are much less sensitive. I'm thinking of getting one for my mountain bike. I give it five stars because it deserves them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Saddle, June 29, 2011
By Richard B. Nickels
Planet Bike's ARS was my third try at replacing and unforgiving factory saddle on my rather unforgiving MTB. I am a 6'-1", 190 pound male. I use this bike in TOO many ways- on and off trail/road and when on trail/road, typically cruising slowly with my eight year old behind me, I prefer to actually sit in the saddle (lazy?). With the factory saddle, a 20 minute ride made me feel like I had ridden cross country bareback. I'm not as young as I used to be, but I like to think that I am far from "soft"! The two other "relief" saddles I tried were improvements over factory, but longer/rougher rides sent me back bareback familiarity, and the saddles were heavy. I have lots of other Planet Bike goodies on my family bikes. Planet Bike has invariably provided rock solid product performance and customer service. Amazon had a great price on the ARS saddle so I took a shot. It was delivered lightning fast and in perfect condition (not always the case with my growing Amazon experiences). The saddle was surprisingly light (I ride hills and have no interest in ANY extra ounces). I put it on my bike same day- easy install; nice sturdy structure; no surprises. At first plop, I was sold, and after a 20 minute ride, I had to write a review. It truly is a great saddle for me and my riding style(s). Not too big (again, I am fairly "slim"), not too small; not too soft, not too firm. It doesn't take care of all of the male anatomy issues experienced while sitting on anything short of a Lazy-Boy, but for the most part, nothing vital felt crushed! I didn't want the weight, look, or restrictions (or peer abuse) associated with a big ole' cruising saddle, so this thing is perfect for me. I've got several hours of riding on it now. Not sure how it will hold up long-term. Cover seems a little suspect, albeit better than others, and again- this is a "comfort" saddle. If it dies in 6 months, I'd buy another one instantly. Highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Recent Vasectomy!, June 24, 2011
By Dennis
I recently had a vasectomy (early June, 2011) and was very worried my summer biking days were over for 2011. However I decided to give the Planet Bike Men's A.R.S. a chance as I figured I had nothing to lose (great price!). I went on a 6 mile ride on Saturday (starting back very slowly) and another 4 mile ride Sunday. Thus, far I have ZERO PAIN and in fact the seat is VERY comfortable...its the perfect mix...not to soft and not to firm...not to mention I feel ZERO stress on my "man regions"...in the upcoming weeks my goal is to drastically increase my distance and time in the saddle and I feel very confident I will have great success. Great Saddle...highly recommended...but more importantly its fairly priced and easy to install.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Confortable seat and good price, June 4, 2011
By Ronnie
I've had this saddle for over three month and it's very comfortable compared to other aftermarket saddles . When I firs began using this saddle, it was still somewhat painful to ride. However, after a couple of days ridding on it, my body began to adjust to it. I'm now glad that I purchased it. I recommend this saddle because of its comfort, construction, and very reasonable price. Spending money on more expensive saddles wont improve your comfort. I know this from experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Helps out quite a bit, September 13, 2010
By cm-311
The saddle that came with my bike gave me huge problems with my family jewels. As any male rider knows, you can go numb easily on an extended ride. This seat helps a great deal but it doesn't eliminate all issues in the groin area. So far I am happy with my purchase since I find comfort in the channel thats on the seat plus the hole allows air cooling. Ive ridden 3 times with the new seat; 15, 15, and 30 mile rides. Let see how it performs on my upcoming 40 mile ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A great seat,, October 31, 2009
By M. Olachea (Fremont, California)
I purchased a used hybrid bike and rode 5 miles and the seat was very uncomfortable. I read the reviews on planet bike men's A.R.S. and decided to get one. A very good decision, I now ride 10 miles with no discomfort and would recommend this bike to everyone. The price was a factor also in making my decision to purchase this saddle.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Decent narrow seat, August 14, 2010
By profelon (USA)
This seat is actually identical to the Bell Sports Mountain Bike Saddle except for the covering. Bell is available at [...] for couple bucks less (I bought both not realizing) and may prove more durable due to the tougher material for the covering. As for comfort, they are identical. No significant sit bone discomfort and certainly no crotch pressure but unless you are used to narrow seats, it does feel like its not wide enough to support your butt. I expect this seat to perform well and last a while. (NOTE: this seat does not come with a seat clamp - minus 1 star)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Best, June 23, 2009
By Rottenluck (Roanoke, VA United States)
Add me to the list of happy customers. Bought one of these for my road bike last Fall and love it. Just ordered one for my mountain bike and one for my son, too. Yes, the front decals peel almost immediately, in fact, I used goo gone and some elbow grease to remove the rear ones as well.

Wonderful product...and cheap!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazing!, April 14, 2009
By B. Callaway (North Carolina)
The Planet Bike Men's A.R.S. Anatomic Relief Bicycle Saddle (Black/Black)is an excellent seat that has left my "ars" pain free! I cannot believe it was around $20 and the agonizing pain that I felt when riding with my other seat, which everyone said that I would get used to it, is gone! I do not have to "get used to the pain" now. The seat is cushioned really well and not too big. I have it on my Cannondale mountain bike and I have ridden it on 20 mile rides off road and on with no pain, and I didn't even have padded biking shorts yet. I just got some Pearl Izumi shorts, so I will be sitting fine when I do a 50 mile adventure race in a few months.

The seat did make a difference. I ride 5 miles one way to work a few times a week and with my old seat, after 2 days in a row I hardly couldnt walk. With this new seat the only thing sore are my legs. Want a miracle by any means but it did do the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very comfortable just weird texture, August 7, 2011
By Ido Weinberg (Jerusalem, Israel)
I bought the Planet Bike relief bicycle saddle as I was looking for relief. I was riding my "sporty" bike saddle and was becoming quite bruised (just imagine...). I am very pleased with the softness that this saddle offers. I am also very pleased with how it still allows for riding posture. The thing that goes against this saddle would be it's texture that is velvety. I am worried that this cover will not withstand the elements. I will definitely consider purchasing this saddle again if I need another one, however I would not purchase it is I were to leave my bicycle outside.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Prefect, August 6, 2011
By Jenifer Groves
I love riding bikes. The one part about bikes I hate is the saddle. I bought this one based on the customer reviews. So far I like this saddle. This was one of the final upgrades I did to my bike. The saddle I had was big and bulky, the stock one that comes with the bike. Everyday the begining of my ride was so uncomfortable, until my legs were numb. I finally broke down and bought a saddle pad but that didn't help very much. I don't need that with this saddle. My ride is completely comfortable.

The perfect saddle. In the past I have had some really expensive saddles and they weren't even this comfortable. The price is unbeatable.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for my needs., July 19, 2011
By Rayman
Like shoes, the fit of a bike saddle is such an individual thing. What may be a great fit for one person could be torture for another. So, I can only speak in generalities when I say that I've found that this saddle is great for my needs. After using a standard hard Schwinn seat for years, I felt that a new one was required due to changing anatomical age-related issues. I tried a Bell gel seat cover, and found that, while comfortable for my bony backside, the center groove completely flattened-out when sitting on it. I then saw that this saddle had both good reviews and a good price, so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, because the configuration fits my anatomy quite well, and is comfortable in comparison to the others. It was shipped quickly from the manufacturer. Like I said, though, your milage - er, buns - may vary.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  The Full-Length Center Recess Really Does Work!, July 12, 2011
By M. Lee (Arizona)
I bought this saddle as an upgrade to the rock hard one that came with my bike. Since I mostly use it for commute road riding, I was looking for something comfortable although not being sofa sized like some are. This saddle was the most interesting option since it had gel inserts and the center recess but was still relatively streamlined and well priced. Having used it for over half a year now, I can say that I'm very satisfied with the comfort of this saddle and I happily recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  The end of one pain but the start of another, July 9, 2011
By Takeshi Katsumoto
I have had this bike seat for a little over a month now and it isn't too bad.

When I first received the product, I was pleased with the appearance. It was shorter, length wise, than the stock seat for my road bike but did the advertised job. There was no longer any pressure on my perineum. UNFORTUNATELY, like other reviewers have stated, it places a tremendous amount of pressure on your sit bones. This can be easily rectified by pushing your butt back but it does change the way you ride. Anything over 10 miles of riding tends to irritate my bottom a bit. Short distance riding is fine but I would invest in cycling shorts for anything over 15 miles.

This seat also puts a bit more pressure on your wrists and hands so beware.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Planet Bike Men's A.R.S. Saddle, July 9, 2011
By Aegistheus
This is a soft saddle. This means comfort for short durations, and likely less for heavier riders. For me, its intended purpose was an inexpensive replacement for a very worn saddle, and this it did well enough. Serious riders ought consider a firmer saddle, especially if cost is unimportant.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  This is one amazing seat, June 23, 2011
By jschristian44
For the price, your not going to find a better seat. You can find gel seat covers, but they are no where near as nice as this thing. It even has the hole in the middle for anatomic relief. Never had one like this before but I can tell already it's going to provide superior comfort to my stock saddle which was worn. Highly recommend it. It's not a granny saddle either (huge). It's just the right size.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  solid seat, May 14, 2011
By DBLDEE20 (Pgh, PA)
this is a great bike seat. I put it on my mtn bike and liked it from the first ride. Positioning is crucial for comfort, so make sure the seat is mounted in the correct spot. I've exposed this seat to heavy downpours and it holds up fine. I use my bike in the woods and on the street and it has been soaked with rain a few times and have no complaints with quality or durability. Having an ultra light seat was not important to me so I don't mind having a slightly larger seat. Especially if its as comfortable as this one. You cant beat the price either. I ride 3 or 4 times a week for at least an hour each time I go out. If Im in the woods I ride for close to 2 hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  What a Relief., October 3, 2010
By Indiana Jones (Florida)
I purchased this saddle to replace a stock saddle on my new bike. The original was comfortable up until I took my first 20 mile ride. I came back hurting. I ordered this the next day, It got here in less than a week, and I had it on in munutes. All I can say is, "what a relief!" No pinching, no numbness, no pain at the end of a long ride. Awesome. A few minor adjustments later, and I can ride for days now.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  What a relief!!!!, July 9, 2010
By Matt (Pleasantville, NJ United States)
OK, so i had logged about 100 miles on my stock road bike saddle and my rear end was really starting to hurt. I decided to buy the ARS men's relief saddle. I was surprised at the difference between the two saddles. I was able to adjust the ARS saddle to achieve a very comfortable cycling position. After my first ride (about 12 miles) I noticed my rear-end and "junk" was not numb, like it had been on my stock saddle. The profile of the saddle itself lets your thighs move more freely than a regular stock road bike saddle would. The relief down the middle of saddle does help with relieving that annoying pressure point on your rear and junk. Also the relief helps with airflow...so there is not as much sweat down there. I am very pleased with this saddle and will recommend this saddle to everyone looking for a more comfortable cycling experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Exceptional Saddle for the money, December 25, 2009
By D. Brown
I must say I had my doubts on this saddle since it was a blind buy, but this planet bike product is more than adequate for my needs. I'd say I ride anywhere from 12-15 miles a week on average and this seat provides more then enough support for all trips, whether they be short or long. The minor pains I experienced in the groin area with the stock seat are all but rectified with this saddle. Installation is as simple as your bike makes it, nothing out of the ordinary there. If it looks narrow to you in pictures, I'm telling you looks can be deceiving, as this has more than enough support for anybody. Material is top notch, and comfort doesn't change over time. What more can be said other then quality, quality, quality....

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Ball Buster, July 29, 2011
By Nick
I'm sure I haven't installed this seat properly, but I figured centering the seat on the mount (where the two metal bars are level) would be my best bet. But apparently it needs to be moved forward enough to tilt the front of the seat down because this morning's ride was pretty uncomfortable. I hope I can still have kids, that's all I have to say about that.

On the flip side, the seat does have nice padding. It's still fairly firm but supports my bum enough to not cause bruises like my other seat. So hopefully I can get this adjusted and all will be well. I've given this three stars only because I think with some adjustments, it'll be a good seat. Minus two stars for possibly affecting my reproduction potential.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Uncomfortable, September 7, 2010
By Bill M (No. Ca.)
The manufacturer calls it an "Anatomic Relief Bicycle Saddle". I don't think there's anything special about the structure of my anatomy, and this saddle was anything but "Relief". Well in all fairness because of the split saddle in the rear, my tail bone didn't hurt. I tried it twice and decided it wasn't worth the discomfort to go on. Looks cool.

I love this seat. I bought this to replace my seat that was ripping after everyday use. This seat was similar in size and more comfortable than my old seat. The decals on the side have already worn off after a month, but they really don't matter. The anatomic relief doesn't make the bike ride any different and it really is more comfortable for longer rides.

By E. Baker (Huntsville, AL)
I replaced an older Bontranger seat that came on my Trek 6700. My butt would be sore for days after a ride of only a couple of miles. I bought this seat based on reviews and the low price. I could not be happier. It is not quite as comfortable as the seat on my road bike but it cost about $50 less.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  You had me at ARS, April 18, 2009
By Sharan H (World Traveler, USA)
This seat is amazing. I ride 30+ miles, and I don't experience any pain like I did with my old seat. I already recommended this to others. Don't hesitate not buying this seat because of the low price, it's as good as everyone says.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Planet Bike Seat, April 11, 2011
By Lefty Louie (SoCal)
I have the $20 cheapie version of this seat.

It is about the same size as the typical WTB Rocket-type seat, but has twice the padding.

And it is a good seat, but it is a little too narrow for me. I had it on a Raleigh hybrid as a replacement for the original WTB Comfort seat, which is very soft. The WTB seat works better, and I could only go a few miles on the Planet Bike before I was trying to re-adjust the settings. And for that matter, I bought a new WTB Comfort seat and I couldn't use that either. It was much harder than the first model Comfort seats, and those are no longer available, even used. But I put it on another more upright bike that I have, and it's fine there. So a very small difference in riding position can make all the difference.

But I have a very narrow bum and I have a hard time finding seats that work well, and I think that any one of the Planet Bike seats would work fine for the average rider.

It is well made, although it started to get a crease on the side after only a couple of rides.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Most comfortable bicycle seat I've ever owned!, March 25, 2009
By Rob McVeigh
I have ridden both bmx and mountain bikes for many years. I've owned many different bikes and bought an uncountable amount of parts for those bikes. After coming across this seat on another site, and reading some reviews, I decided to order it. Well the reviews were correct. This is an extremely comfortable seat, especially for those of us who are getting up there in age (mid 30's) and have gained a few pounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good seat, October 4, 2008
By J. Kirkland (Nebraska)
Good replacement seat. My old seat had a lycra cover and it started to tear and it soaked up rain like a sponge. This seat is comfortable and a very good value compared to other seats.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  BEST SEAT EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, July 23, 2008
By Kirklan bryan
I DONT NORMALLY DO THIS BUT, I FELT COMPELL TO WRITE A REVIEW.
I BOUGHT A ROAD BIKE ANE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS GREAT EXCEPT THE SEAT WOULD SET MY BUTT ON FIRE AFTER THE FIRST 30 MINS.

I DECIDED TO BUY THIS AND WHEN IT ARRIVED I WAS SO SURPRISE THAT IT WAS EVEN NEATER AND SMALLER THAN MY ORIGINAL AND ITS VERY LIGHT TOO. THE MOMENT I SAT ON IT I FELT THE DIFFERENCE. i COULD RIDE ON THIS SADDLE ALL DAY AND MY BUT WOULDNT HURT UNLIKE MY OLD ONE WHICH WAS SOO HORRIBLE. I COULDNT BELIEVE THAT A SEAT AT THIS PRICE COULD MAKE SUCH A DIFFERENCE.

THIS SEAT COULD HAVE EASILY SOLD FOR OVER 60 BUCKS CUZ ITS SOO GREATT. THIS IS THE ONLY SEAT U WILL EVER NEED.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Where was this seat years ago?, August 30, 2011
By Mr. B
Thanks to other reviews I tried this! Works perfect on my BMX which nobody really mentioned.

It doesn't come with a seat post clamp which I had to buy for like 6 bucks.

added a photo of this on my BMX

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great seat for the price., August 25, 2011
By Moxynoff110
I bought this to replace the stock seat on my Fuji Nevada. The rails on this were probably three quarters of an inch taller than the stock seat. There was definitely noticeable difference in comfort over that stock seat. This will help extend your ride for a couple of hours without discomfort. Overall it is a great product for the price you pay.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very comfortable!, August 18, 2011
By Doc p30 (Tampa, FL)
I got this seat to replace the stock seat on my trek 820 mountain bike. My stock seat was twisted and bent. I had been riding on it for quite awhile with it that way. The ARS has been a god send in comparison to this old seat. It is very comfortable and takes the pressure off of those more sensitive areas. I'd highly recommend this seat, it is also a great value!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Average Seat., August 30, 2011
By jeepdays
This seat is certainly an upgrade from what I had before, but it is not super comfortable like the reviews let me to believe. I'll keep it, but I bet there are better seats out there.
