women's biking shorts, November 23, 2008
By bike rider (Iowa USA)
|
|
I didn't think I'd ever wear those 'tight stretchy' biking shorts. However I found that these shorts truly helped eliminate my muscle fatigue on longer rides as they advertised. I bought a size L, one size larger than I normally wear, because I didn't want to feel like I had on a girdle. I have rather muscular legs. If my thighs were thinner I think a medium would work fine.
Plus - these are made in the USA!

Great For Spin Class!, September 27, 2008
By J. Glenn (del rio, texas)
|
|
Well, I just started my spin class couple of weeks ago. The first week was a nightmare for me because I used to wear a regular shorts with no padding. And then I search online about shorts with padding and not costing a lot. I found this and it helps a lot. Making my class more enjoyable. Great product with great price. Highly recommended. I own 2 pairs.

After one hour, they are falling apart, September 24, 2009
By world traveler (Durham, NC)
|

I bought these shorts for my wife who rides her mountain bike to school. The trip is 30 minutes each day. After ONE day, the area where the shorts rub the seat is rubbed through and ripping. And even before she put them on, we could see they were made very cheaply - the padding was put in misaligned and the shorts weren't very comfortable -- but note that this problem with the padding is completely separate from the material ripping. One star, wasted money - too bad. I wish I could exchange them.

Great padded short for a great price!, November 13, 2009
By SoDi

Fits and wears better than more expensive shorts I've had in the past. You can machine wash *and* dry these! I've worn them many, many times now and nothing has come unraveled yet. Can't say that about some other brands I've used.

Good Bike Shorts, July 8, 2009
By Susan Daniel
|
|
I had never ordered a pair of bike shorts before. Never actually owned a pair. Did try some on at a running store. These were much cheaper, so I took a chance. Not only was the price better, but they fit better than the ones at the store. I'm very happy with these. I've worn them for spinning classes as well as biking on the road.

I still have some discomfort after purchasing these shorts, but I'm a novice rider. If you are a novice do not expect these shorts to take away all pain because nothing does. However, I was less than 1/4 of the amount sore compared to riding without these. I would recommend.

Exactly what I needed!, July 4, 2011
By Bobbilee (GA, USA)
|
|
I am female, middle-aged, and have just gotten back into biking after about 15 years sitting on my backside in a comfy chair in front of a computer. I could well remember the pain experienced even with a padded seat in my younger years so I bought myself a ladies 26" comfort cruiser that advertised a deluxe "Schwinn wide, padded cruiser saddle". Well, this stock seat is wider at 10" than most stock seats, but it certainly did not prevent pain. I began looking here on Amazon for something to relieve my aching posterior region.
I bought myself a new padded 10" wide saddle and these shorts. The shorts arrived very quickly and about two weeks ahead of the new saddle for some reason but I was very glad that something arrived to help me as I just couldn't face another day riding my bike as it was. The shorts did not disappoint me at all - they were exactly what I had hoped for and needed!
I generally ride an average of about 5-6 miles and I could tell a huge difference for the first ride wearing these. Please note that the pain was not completely gone, but much better. I was able to patiently wait for the new saddle. These shorts are not a cure all for discomfort when you are unaccustomed to riding, but they do help. I am very pleased with my purchase.
I have now received my new saddle for the bike and I continue to wear these shorts. The new saddle is much better than my stock seat but even with the combination of these shorts I still feel it after a ride but I can't exactly say it is painful but that I am aware of the experience for some hours. The next day, I am more than ready to ride again!
Sizing/Quality - I am 5' 6" and currently weigh about 175 pounds. Yes I am overweight, which is the reason for the new commitment to bicycling. By reviewing the sizing chart, to place my order, I was dismayed to discover that the sizes jumped from a Large (12-14) to an Extra Large (16-18). I needed a size 14-16. I knew the Large would be just too tight - even with the stretch but I really feared the Extra Large would be too big but I felt that I didn't have a choice. I ordered the Extra Large and when it arrived - the tag on the shorts proclaimed that an Extra Large was indeed a 14-16! Yay! They did indeed fit perfectly and appear to run true to size. Yes, there is some give around the waist (and I have a paunch in that area) but to me that makes them comfortable. I feel confident that I will not go down in-size for at least another 15 pounds.
The material is lightweight, breathable, and stretchy but not "thin" as one reviewer remarked. I would have to guess that anything that thin is just stretched too tight. I feel these are excellent quality for the price. This is my first pair of biking shorts ever so I cannot compare them to the ridiculously expensive ones available. Perhaps, there are differences in padding that I have not experienced but for the price difference I am very content with my purchase and plan to buy at least one more pair soon and more when I lose more weight. These shorts also wash very well. I prefer to line-dry to preserve their fit and shape; they do dry very quickly. I also like the fact that this company is family owned and operated right here in the USA!

decent cycling shorts, September 29, 2009
By Cut the Crap (Boston, MA)
|
|
The short are very simple, nice padding, makes cycling more comfortable.
Some people have commented on the size. I think they are sized appropriately. I normally buy small, so I bought these shorts in small and they fit fine. So I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a size bigger.
My only problem is with the cheepish material. The material is plain shiny spandex.

These shorts are well made and the chamois makes riding much more comfortable. I wasn't having problems with the back end since I had also purchased a new seat for my bike that makes a long ride much more comfortable. My preference would be that the padding would be wider in the front (I have been wearing the shorts backwards).

Women's padded classic bike shorts, September 13, 2009
By pjpepsi (Florida)

Wow, what a difference riding my bike. I'm not a cyclist to be sure, but these shorts made me understand how you could be - much more comfortable than even gel bike seats (which I have) and a fleece cover over that!
If you want to just try a lower cost padded bike short - these are the ones!

Huge padding, April 22, 2009
By TKNTX (Texas)
|
|
It's hard to say much about the fit of the shorts overall because I took the advice of another review and ordered up a size but they are way too big and the padding is absolutely enormous and looks very funny.
Quality is good, seams are strong and the material feels good on the skin.

Padded Pair, February 3, 2010
By Heather Lewis
|
|
I bought these shorts and to be honest it's my first pair that I've ever bought! I am currently using them for spinning class but later plan on using them on my bike in the summer! The only thing I find frustrating about the shorts is that the croch doesn't seem to fit me very well. It tends to be loose which then catches at times on the seat of my bike when I'm doing standing, sit backs etc. The only thing I could think of that may help is ordering a smaller size which means the sizes don't run completely true. Overall though I am happy with the product.

Great first timer shorts, May 3, 2011
By dlith (Illinois)

Much more reasonably priced than your typical 'cycling' brands and a great short. Wore them for the first time yesterday and my ride was much more comfortable. The shorts were a little higher waisted than I would have liked, but I loved the length and the comfort.

Good, not great, September 19, 2010
By mayhem321

I bought these shorts because they are less expensive than many of the other brands out there and the reviews were decent. The shorts give enough padding for rides under 20 miles. For longer rides, I bought a more expensive pair with a foam pad which is much more comfortable.

Oh, what a waste!, May 3, 2010
By CCM
|
|
These shorts are not for someone that a has a real rear (if you know what I mean). The pad is soooooo thin it feels like a sponge. I thought the pad would at least cover most of my rear but it only covers a tiny portion of the rear. I wore them once and of course I couldn't return them. I wanted them because I ride my bike at least 5 times a week (alternating) as a form of exercise.
If anyone can come up with a brilliant idea to give me more cushion, I'm listening. Already have a wide seat that is good but not enough.

Works great, November 1, 2011
By KW (Virginia)
|
|
I ordered these because I was sore for days after just 30-minute cycle class. I loved the workout but hated how it made my rear so sore. I didnt want to spend alot of money though in case it didnt make a difference. These are wondeful!! I can cycle more than once a week and not have any bruising or pain from the bikes seat! I enjoy the workout more. My only complaint is the size..I prob should of went with a small but I stuck to the size chart. They are a little big and go high up on the waist but they still work and fit pretty good. Definately recommend these bc they work great and wont break the bank like some other bike shorts will.

I love these shorts, September 8, 2011
By Mavis (Blue State)
|
|
I would definitely buy another pair in a heartbeat. I wish they had pants in this version for the winter season. I got the purple and have had other bicyclists comment when passing me, which they do often as I'm not a very fast rider, that they like the color. Most importantly though is that it keeps my boney ass from hurting as much after a long ride. It also makes me look like I have more than I really do, which is definitely a plus, since I'm kind of flat, hence, my boney ass. I still come home after a bike ride, hurting a bit but I attribute that to most likely needing a more cushiony and wider seat.

Bought these for my wife... She used them for a couple 30 rides then the 2011 Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic. She says they are good... Biggest complaint she had is the lack of the tacky strip around the leg cuffs, they tend to want to climb the leg a bit.

Very Nice!, June 25, 2011
By Kellie N. Jacobs (NC)
|
|
I bought these as a birthday present for myself w/ a gift card, and just took them out for a spin today- SO nice. Usually, I don't cycle too much due to discomfort (using general/running shorts for cycling), but when I went out in these today, I felt like I could go forever. Since I have never worn bike shorts before, it was a bit awkward initially, with the cushioning and all, but I got used to it. Great shorts, great price!

I needed shorts for spin class. I bought a pair at my local cycle shop and a pair of these. These were $20 less but much better by far! The legs are a nice fit around the thighs without digging into them. I came back and purchased two more pair. I highly recommend them.

Great shorts for biking, June 26, 2010
By Speedbumb (Springfield, Missouri)
|
|
This was my first pair of biking shorts. It was hard to choose between a small and medium. I usually wear a size 6 pants but have "grandma" thighs and didn't want the shorts too tight. I ordered the medium. They are snug but not so tight that they bulge the "thigh meat". I'm pleased. The padding makes biking more comfortable but I have to admit that they feel strange when walking...maybe I'm just not used to them yet?!

They work!, June 9, 2010
By V. Adato (Michigan, USA)

The padding does it's job... It provides extra cushion and support where it's most needed. It makes long bike rides less painful and more enjoyable. The shorts fit well - snug but not too tight. I am a female who wears 38-inch mens pants, and the XL padded shorts fit me comfortably.

I purchased these in the hopes that it would cut down on making my butt numb when riding a bike, I didn't expect complete protection but some barrier against numbing, they did nothing special and still, my butt was numb. Don't bother spending your money.

My husband thinks I look sexy in these! And I love 'em. I wear them alone or, as the weather got colder, under longer pants. Initially, the padding took about 2 min. to get used to, but it sure feels good when I'm riding.

Whether you are a new rider or a seasoned one these biker shorts will make your workout a comfortable one. I ordered the small and I normally wear a size 4 or 6. They fit perfect. There is just enough padding to be comfortable. I won't go to spin class without my padded shorts. Great purchase!
