1.0 out of 5 stars.  Lies, Lies, Lies, January 23, 2010
By C. S. Ethridge
no doubt this is the WORST purchase i have ever made. the picture is a lie. the picture is of parachute cord (what i thought i was buying), it's not. it's the kind of rope that borders the shallow end of the pool. oh yeah, and it's canary yellow. this is false advertising. it's both reprehensible and insulting. wth?

3.0 out of 5 stars.  General Purpose rope made in China., October 8, 2009
By Wildrat (Mount Clearwater)
This is just General Purpose rope and it is made in China. It is OK rope suitable for tent lines, lashing, hanging food up in tree, tying people up, etc. It is not Para Cord like someone said, that being said it could be Chinese Para Cord which could explain why they hit the ground with a thud. If you want General Purpose rope just go to one of the DIY stores and put the money for shipping with your rope money and buy a better rope. The rope is about 3/16th's of a inch thick. It is Olive Drab in color and does not have individual cords inside. It is just General Purpose rope.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Happy Camper/Hiker, August 9, 2008
By J.C. Bednar (Junction City, KS USA)
Pronounced in the military jargon as five-fifty cord. This is an essential, light-weight cord that will fit into any backpack and not take up much room. This is a military style cord that has 1001+ uses. You can even cut this cord in pieces and extract the individual strands and use them for whatever purpose you have in mind. This cord is very strong and is pert-near impossible to break.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  strong rope, March 16, 2008
By Ed Manti
Wether camping, or just a day hike, rope is an essential for all packs. This is a low volume rope that is very strong. Just drop it in your pack and forget about it till you need it. Used it to string two packs between trees in the Smoky's, held all night easy to untie and bring down.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Its, well, uh....rope. How could you get that wrong?, August 26, 2010
By Brad
Its rope, you use it for stuff, probably not military grade, or tested but I presume its good enough to tie bear bags with.

Light, cheap, green, rope.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  not military style 550 cord, March 7, 2010
By T. Hogan
This is 5mmx50feet. This is NOT "para cord" or "550 cord". it does not even have the white guts in it. If all your looking for is nylon rope this will work. Just don't buy it if you what the real stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Must have, February 9, 2009

5.0 out of 5 stars.  yep, this is rope, April 25, 2009
By adjective (place)
Good basic, lightweight rope. Not as strong or compact as good para cord, and it frays more, but previous reviewers correctly praised its suitability for vehicular/survival kit use. It's quite adequate for securing tarps. Not for lack of trying, but I haven't managed to break a strand of it yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  It's a good rope, February 21, 2010
By ashin220 (ashin220)
I was actually looking for some military paracord but, got his by accident. It works well enough but, does not have the smaller strands inside like paracord. Instead, it has a loose braided rope inside. I have not used it for any strength demanding tasks but, it works fine for light duty work.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  cord, not rope, not paracord., December 26, 2010
By Josh Jeffords
be sure you know it is not paracord nor is it rope it is dual core nylon cord.
I bought this thinking it was paracord but that is what I get for shopping tired.
not to be rude but this stuff is not a good purchase or a great product.
you can get real paracord for 4 something rated for 550lbs do that, it is also made in USA and tested I.E. Mil Spec.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Lightweight, Great strength, July 9, 2009
By Mat (Baltimore, MD)
Having a good amount of cordage is a necessity and this albeit pretty standard, is good to go with. Very lightweight, synthetic, all around reliable.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  parachute cord, February 13, 2010
By huw_the_book (Brooklyn, NY USA)
As those praising this product have noted, it has many many uses. But don't think you're going climbing with this. It's parachute cord, not rope. It's great for tying stuff down, suspending a shelter or a backpack. It's very light weight and easily stowed. But it is not rope in the heavier duty sense. You cannot get a grip on it for any of the purposes you might imagine rope being used for.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  550 uses for it!!!!, June 20, 2011
By Juan Castro
No matter what you do or where you're going. The 550 paracord will serve you in thousands of ways. So stuff it in your pack and never leave it at home. You also can build a paracord bracelet for survival situations (google for it).
Great product. Very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good, strong rope for general purpose use, June 17, 2011
By Justin (PA USA)
I am no rope expert, but needed something general purpose for landscaping use and this stuff fit the bill to a tee. This stuff seems very strong - I can't break it no matter what I do. It is olive green in color, just like the picture. The price was great and I've been very happy with it for general purpose use. I have gone back and purchased 3 total so far - happy repeat customer :D

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It's cut rope, nothing fancy, April 24, 2011
By MysteryShopper
I haven't tried to strength test this, but it looks like it is of decent quality. It's not fancy, looks like it was hand wrapped from a larger spool. Hope I don't need it for anything serious, but it's nice to have on hand for an emergency shelter or strapping something down in the truck.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality on a budget, April 14, 2011
By Nicholas Brower (USA)
If you aren't wanting or needing to spend a lot of money on high end para-chord then this is a great buy for having in your emergency or camping rig as a general purpose rope. Will easily support a couple hundred pounds and is tacky enough to keep knots really well. Very cost effective way to have a length of rope to get you out of a pinch.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A must for every survival kit, August 14, 2009
By grizz30002 (Bennett, CO USA)
I cannot say that I am a rope 'expert' but this rope seems okay for the moments you might need some rope handy.
I agree with the other reviews that this type of rope is ESSENTIAL for a survial kit and/or Go Bags.
I've seen higher quality ropes out there, but I'm sure it will do just fine for tying down shelters, hanging food, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  5mm x 50' Rope, July 28, 2011
By Jeff Smith (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I got the idea to give this to my son-in-law when they were moving. He didn't have one and we used my old nylon rope that I bought 25 years ago.

His birthday is next week and we know he will like it and use it for 25 years or more.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Misleading, July 24, 2011
By renegadespork
There is no sense of scale in this photo, but I guarantee the rope is smaller and cheaper than you think it is.

Granted, I have only myself to blame for not verifying this before my purchase, but unless you're looking for something slightly thicker than string, then save your money.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Inexpensive Rope..., July 11, 2011
By DEngle76
You might want to tie your load down with this, but not your life.
You get what you pay for.
"Emergency Zone Brand"... pure marketing words

If you want real lightweight STRONG rope, go to a sailing/marine store and ask for it.
Super strong, super light, worth the price, and so is your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  its not 550 cord, August 16, 2011
By Alex
I was under the impression that this is 550 cord, but it is not. The inner cord is just a smaller woven piece of rope, it is not separate string. It is pretty strong, but I do not know what the strength is. The The color is a little darker than the picture of it, but it looks good. I am using part of it (hollowed out of course) as shoe laces for my boots.

This is basically tent cord. It is not rope. The picture makes this look like a much more substantial piece than it actually is.
