I don't know why Park Tools are so expensive, August 19, 2009
By Travis Rassat

I feel really dumb for buying these. I've bought quite a few Park Tools over the years, and I honestly don't know why they charge as much as they do. Pretty much everything I've bought from them (with the exception of their PCS-10 repair stand, which is nice for what I need) seems to be overpriced, low-quality junk. These brushes are no exception. Here are my thoughts of each brush:
The gear cleaning brush - this can be pretty much thrown away immediately. The bristles are too short to be effective, not narrow enough to reach into a 9-speed cassette, and they also keep falling out. I threw it away already.
Tire and frame tube cleaning brush - this is not cracked up to what it's supposed to be. The wires that form the shape of the brush are too weak to apply adequate pressure for cleaning mountain bike tires. This brush made me feel really good about myself, because I must have Herculean strength with how quickly I destroyed it. I threw it away.
Frame cleaning sponge brush - the two different cleaning materials really just get in each others' way. This is the hermaphrodite of the bike cleaning world. I kind of felt sorry for it so I kept it, but I won't use it again.
Tapered detail brush - this is the only brush that I'll probably use a second time. It's actually kind of useful as an all-around brush, but I could probably pick up something at the dollar store that's just as effective.
Overall, I'm disappointed in this brush set - just go to the dollar store or big-box retailer and get a few general purpose brushes, steal one of your kids' toothbrushes, and you're covered.

junk...2 of 4 broken after 2 uses..., December 14, 2010
By ranttz

2 of the 4 brushes have broken after 2 uses.
The gear cleaner brush came out completely from the plastic frame. The tire cleaner has 2 brush parts which have already separated from each other. The diamond shaped brush for cleaning frame tubes is completely useless as the wire frame is very, very weak.
The 1 cone shaped brush is good for cleaning in tight spots.
I was VERY surprised that Park Tool would put their name on junk like this.

Useful but not Essential, September 2, 2009
By duff man (Everywhere, USA)

I bought this product as part of a package deal. I would not purchase it otherwise because, while the tools are useful, they are not essential. I have found a simple rag to be much more productive for removing dirt and oil. The brushes in this kit are extremely helpful with removing gunked-in debris from hard to reach nooks, crannies, and corners though.

so so, February 23, 2009

I was pretty disappointed with this. I have other Park products which are great...not this one. Two of the four are worth it - the other two are poor quality.

Ditto!, January 24, 2010

ditto previous review:
The gear cleaning brush - The bristles are too short to be effective and not narrow enough to reach into a 9-speed cassette. The entire bristle unit keeps falling out of the handle...very disappointing.

The other two brushes are adequate.

Another great Park Tools product, May 21, 2010
By Funkster (Santa Clara, CA United States)

These tools aren't kiddie quality. They stand up to regular use on road and mountain bikes.
Best of all, the selection they give you allows you to get into all those nooks and crannies and get all the gunk off your bikes.
Works really well in combination with the Park Tool chain cleaner too!

Overpriced and poorly made, August 4, 2011
By N. Anderson (Washington, DC)

I have multiple Park Tool products, and regularly use and love them. This purchase is not one of those items.
The sprocket cleaner brush I used one time, and noticed that the bristles fell out into my cassette while I was trying to clean it. So I needed another brush to remove them, and to actually accomplish the cleaning necessary.
The other brushes were similarly poorly designed and executed.
Better choices would be 16" & 11" Wire Wheel Brush Kit and a T-shirt, along with some ORIGINAL DAWN DISHWASH LIQUID BTL 8/38 OZ, though I'm sure you can pick up a smaller bottle of that stuff offline. That's what I use now, and it works great.

Park Tool Brushes, July 8, 2011

I really love the cog and crank cleaning brush and the spongy brush for frame cleaning. The other brushes are really cool too and do what they're supposed to pretty well. All and all, these brushes are well worth the money.

We returned these, March 9, 2011
By Rachel (CT)

I thought these would attach to the chain cleaning tool, but they're separate. I returned them before using them - figured I could use a toothbrush and get similar results. I just don't clean my bike enough to justify owning these.
