5.0 out of 5 stars.  handy & well made, June 25, 2009
By N. Loftsgard (MN)
I looked far and wide for the best seat bag and I think this Avenir is the best for the price. Three sizes to choose from; I went with the medium not knowing exactly how big it would be. The depth measures about 6.25 inches and at the opening/flap the bag is about 3.5 x 3.5 inches. If you unzip to expand the bag you'll gain another 0.5 to 1 inch in height. I didn't find any pictures of the inside, but there's a mesh elastic pouch on the inside of the flap along with a clip to attach a key ring or the like.

The bag feels VERY sturdy and I have no concern that it'd fall off my bike. Another note is that even with the bag all the way unzipped, the flap only opens about 15 degrees from closed - you'd have to pull it down to have it open the full 90 degrees. So if you forget to zip it up all the way you may not lose all the contents.

If I expand the bag I can fit my wallet, iPhone, car keys, and still have room for a granola bar, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent buy, April 12, 2009
By Old Biker Dude (West Virginia)
The medium size fits perfectly under the seat of my road bike. I am able to carry a hex bicycle tool, wallet, cell phone, and car keys with enough room left over for a power bar. The latched mounting strap is very secure and durable...better than velcro.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy and secure., July 23, 2008
By P. Griffin (Southwest USA)
I bought the size Medium, and am very happy. What a slick bag. Very durable construction, and nice secure fit to bike. Strap under seat wraps all the way around the bag then buckles in place - this will never fall off your bike. Also velcro/buckle strap to seat post. Most of all, nice streamlined shape fits perfectly under seat w/out any parts sticking out. Very reasonable price, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good size and stays put, November 17, 2010
By Kelly
I purchased this pack for a road bike that I use for training and racing. I ride a female specific 56 inch frame and it fits very easily under the standard saddle. When collapsed, I can fit a tube, CO2 cartridge with head, and tire levers easily. I expand it on longer rides to add a cell phone, ID, cash, and small map. I've expanded and collapsed it several times and it's still holding up nicely.
The black color helps it blend in and I appreciate the small reflective piece on the front.I have not had a problem with the zippers or closure snap - it stays on and doesn't wiggle or come undone over road terrain. I have not used it on a mountain bike or over super rough terrain, however. When I first attached it, I did have a problem with the velcro piece that wraps around the stem - the velcro rubbed on my shorts and snagged them. I tucked it in on itself and haven't had a problem since then.
All in all, I am very pleased with the pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this bag!, March 12, 2010
By Patrick H. Nguyen
This is simply a great bag for your bike! It's plenty big and can be expanded as well. The material is high quality and it's a well thought out design. You may have to adjust your light system to compensate for the location of this bag. It holds its contents quite well. In fact, one time, I put my keys in it, somehow forgot to zip up the bag, went biking and later found out the bag was unzipped. but my stuff was still in there.

I put my light equipment in there (front and rear) along with my keys and my wallet and my bike computer and my allen wrenches and patch kit. It can fit my mp3 player in there too with the other stuff in there.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Avenir Medium Bigmouth Seat Bag, May 9, 2010
By Jay (Oceanside, Ca)
Awesome bag. I actually returned it because I found them at a LBS for less, but the Avenir bags are great. If you carry more than just CO2, spare tube, patches, levers and multi tool, go with the large. I got both medium and large for different distances where I may want to carry more than just the flat kit items. Also note, I have a tri bike and the seatpost velcro piece isn't big enough to go around the seatpost, but I just zip tied it and it held fine. Should be fine for a round seatpost.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Inexpensive, capacious., May 3, 2011
By Steven Newton
Here's what I carry in my seat bag:
Replacement tube
tire spoons
CO2 cartridge
CO2 inflator
Phone (and it's big, HTC Evo, 4.8 x 2.6 inches)
Badges and badge holder for work
small keyring
average wallet
small medicine bottle
And there's room for more, probably an all-in-one bike tool. Love this bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well made and practical, July 31, 2011
By Man o 'tides (Seattle, WA USA)
This is a very good seat bag. A well thought out design by the manufacturer.

To begin with I liked the looks of it and the medium model seemed to fit my needs. It easily accomodates tire repair tools, a Park tool, spare tube, tire gauge, mini pump, mini first aid kit, tire patches, keys and my wallet, and cell.

Only concern I had was how it would hold up in wet conditions.

Well right after I purchased it I went on a 7 day bike tour of 300 plus miles. At the first night's campsite we experienced heavy downpours from thunderstorms.

I removed only my cell, wallet and keys from the seat bag before the rains moved in.

In the morning I checked the Avenir and its interior was dry as a bone.

On the bike tour, in towns we rode through, after locking up my bike it was easy to remove the bag and take it with me while I had coffee. I found the straps that attatch to the seat rails when snapped together make a handy carrying handle for the bag.

Yeah...I have no problem recommending the Avenir Big Mouth Medium Seat Bag. It is well constructed, roomy enough for what I need to carry, and looks good on my bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice, June 9, 2011
By BobSays (Finland, MN)
Seemed quite small when it first arrived but it carries 2 inner tubes, air guage, patches with room for a cell phone if need be... without unzipping the extension portion. Rear reflector had to be removed to accomodate and the seat had to bee slid back on its rails for the strap to wrap. Well construction. Very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Going to buy a second one, April 25, 2011
By myflatsix
Perfect size for a mini tool, extra tube, patch kit, keys, and cell phone. Even expands if you need to carry more stuff like an energy bar. Installs easy and without tools so you can remove it if you have to lock your bike up in a public place. I am going to order another one for each of my bikes. Fits right underneath the saddle and doesn't protrude or get in the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good size, sturdy, a bit fussy, April 16, 2011
By Nikwax (Portland, OR United States)
I want a Tardis seat bag: really small on the outside and really large on the inside. OK, that's not really possible, but I want a bag that isn't huge looking but has the utility that I need to carry phone, wallet, and a few tools.

This bag will certainly do all of that, plus it does has a nifty expansion feature to make it even bigger. Small enough to fit entirely under my seat. You can leave it attached and still access the interior, which sounds like common sense but many bags require that you remove them to unzip them.

Only down side for me: urban riding, I have to take everything off the bike when parking, then put it back on again when riding off. This bag is a bit fussy to on and off, I think mainly due to the strap having to pass through a retaining loop on the bottom of the bag which is a tight fit.

Overall, a solid product, well built, very good price.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well made, but smaller than I thought, February 2, 2011
By subzerolv
This bag seems very well made, but it is smaller than I thought it was going to be. I guess I couldn't visualize the cubic inches. It does easily fit my repair items (spare tube, 2 patch kits, levers, tire boot, multi-tool), and a gu pack, but a phone and wallet and extras would be a pretty tight fit.

I'm happy with it though. If I had it to do over, I would probably go with the large instead of the medium, but I have a rack and panniers, so finding a place for all my stuff isn't that hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bag for any kind of cycling, October 24, 2011
By Great Santini (FL)
I'll go ahead and add to all the great reviews on here for this bag. It really is a good bag for a road bike or anywhere else you need some storage without having to carry the items on your person.

The bag fits pretty neatly under most seats, hook to the vertical post and then loop the straps through the seat md back around the bottom of the bag. I can easily fit my whole fist into the bag. The flap door would stay closed even if you forgot to zip it, well sewn! The inside of the flap has a link for your keys, and a small mesh area for you to contain the keys in so they don't rattle around. The rest of the pouch is big enough for a wallet, keys, cellphone, and some bike tubes. If you happen to ride with a small side arm, (some bad neighborhoods out there!) it would fit, you'd likely have to expand the bottom with the zipper though.

Great purchase for the money!!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Holds everything straps are crap though, February 22, 2012
By TexasOwl
First, I have to say that the bag holds everything so I give it some points for that. However, the strap that grabs the bottom of the seat snapped off on my first trail ride. I use it on my mountain bike and it didn't even make it 3 miles. I guess it's good if you are riding in the city but any serious trails you would probably not want to trust this bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well Constructed But A Little Tough to Access, August 31, 2011
By ct.inva (Alexandria, VA)
This is a well constructed pack and should serve me well on my mountain bike. It secures onto the bike in two places, on the seat stem (using velcro) and under the seat itself (using a strap with plastic clip). Even if the plastic clip fails, the velcro fastener will keep it from falling off. The medium-sized pack is just the right size to fit under the seat. It fits a multi-tool, a couple of tire levers and a tire patch kit. I could probably fit my smartphone in there too, but that's about it. If I were to buy another one, I would go with a larger size.

Once the pack is secured to the bike, it's a little tough to open and close the zipper since it is right up under the seat. You'll just have to find a balance between fit and access.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bag, August 2, 2011
By Josh
It's perfect for me. It has room for my tire levers, a spare tube, my phone and keys. If expanded, I'm sure it would also fit another tube and maybe a protein bar or something. The strap on the back that allows you to mount a light was a nice touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Little Bag, Adequate Size, June 22, 2011
By Council of Two (Florida)
The bag fits nicely under the seat, especially the Cloud 9 sold at amazon.com. It comes in handy to store your front and rear lights, a multitool, car keys, and iPhone. The top strap is a little long, but racing seats are higher and would need this. The bottom has a 'secret' zipper that allows more room for some small items in addition to the above. I am short (5'7") and I don't use the expanded part because it is too close to the wheel for my liking. The manufacturer label on the bag is highly reflective, which is great for visibility at night. The bag is well worth it for any bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Medium Is A Great Size, June 19, 2011
By pgomez
I had the small one, but it was just slightly too small to fit what I needed (a tube, a CO2 pump, tool kit, occasional cell phone). The medium is awesome and has an expandable area to give you even more space. You really can't go wrong with it. I would recommend this!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bag, highly recommend, May 18, 2011
By jschristian44
I do not like saddle bags because I think they are very unattractive. But after experiencing a flat tire several miles from home, I decided to get one of these. I didn't want a real small one, and I didn't want a large one. This one is the perfect size. It's plenty big enough to fit all my stuff without looking bad on my bike. Right now I have my 3 tire levers, patch kit, bike lock key, sunglasses, gloves, and 2 energy bars in there. I still have a little room left, and plenty more, if I unlock the bottom zipper. Yes, it's expandable, but I'd rather not use that unless I need to, because it starts to look really unattractive then. It has a safety lock clip inside and a photo id holder. I used the clip for my bike lock key and I will put like 20 dollars in the pouch. I highly recommend one of these if you bike ride far from home, at least 8 miles away is where I was. May not seem far in a car, but on a bike that your just starting to ride on, it definately is. So I recommend this seat bag very highly. The customer photos are pretty accurate, so I don't need to add to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Product - Medium is Probably the Size You Need, May 16, 2011
By gamrmf (Arizona)
This is a great bag. Price is great, but quality doesn't seem compromised in any way. The biggest issue I had when ordering was what size to order. Medium seems just right for most cyclist. We use it for a mountain bike and it can hold two tubes, some patches and a multi tool.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke within two months - crap!, May 2, 2011
By Sarah R. Jansen
I bought this for my mountain bike. At the moment, I am doing most of my miles on the road on my mountain bike. So, imagine my surprise when the strap that holds it to the seat post snapped off the bag altogether! I am riding a full-sus bike on the road (so, not a lot of bounce), and it snaps after two months? Crap. I was mislead by these reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great for smaller frames, April 19, 2011
By bnkrob
We needed a bag small enough for my wife's smaller frame bike. The dilemna was we needed something large enough to carry the basics. This pump is able to accommodate a Topeak Two Timer CO2 Bicycle Tire Inflator (with one end removed and stored in a baggie to keep it clean), a spare tube, mini first aid kit (in another baggie), combo tool, cell phone, wallet. This was without having to expand the chamber! '
I don't know yet how water proof it is, as my wife hasn't grasped the joy of riding in the rain....

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little bag., January 7, 2011
By G. Forster (Atlanta, GA)
I read the other reviews and decided that this would be a good bag to carry the essentials on my new mountain bike. The bag is a bit smaller than I expected it would be, but it mounted easily and has sufficient space for my "must-haves" for the trail. I loaded it with a tire patch kit, a small multi-tool, and a set of tire levers. There's room left for my wallet, keys, and cell phone, but that's it. I could squeeze a spare inner tube, but it will be a tight fit with the wallet & phone (I carry a bifold wallet - the trifold type will fit much easier). Maybe once the fabric relaxes a bit, it will be an easier fit.

With the expansion zipper unzipped, you could fit a few extra granola/energy bars.

The flap that opens has a hook for a key ring and a small net pouch for a small cell phone or pocket change.

It appears to be very well made, and looks like it will be a good value over time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very useful - made it work for my bike, December 9, 2010
By E. Sikorski (South Jersey, NJ)
This bag is a very useful accessory for storing my wallet, keys, and phone while biking. For that alone, it was worth the money. It is just the right size, not too big and bulky or too small with not enough space. The only trouble I had is that it does not fit under my seat, so I had to rig it underneath the main support bar on the frame. It is upside down, but still holds ok even though it is not attached as designed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent, October 24, 2011
By Coder (Pa.)
Exactly what I was looking for as additional storage to my small frame bag. I was concerned that it wasn't going to be large enough or durable enough for my long rides but so far it's taken a beating on a few 30 mile trail rides and is still in great shape. I did have to re-mount my rear LED light on top of it but the LED still has good visibility. The only thing I would add to it is a zipper lock. The zipper is very well constructed and stays closed well but I would feel better keeping my keys in it if it locked.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Under seat bag, September 11, 2011
By outdoorsman35
Very nice little under seat bag. This bag attaches with velcro straps to the underside of the seat and seat post. It is big enough to hold my phone and wallet and still has a little room for a small camera or granola bar for longer rides. I don't even notice that it is there, seems to be very well constructed. Would recommend if you are looking for a nice small under seat bag for holding small items.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Plenty of room, September 5, 2011
By G. Pollard (Madison, AL United States)
2 things I really like about this bag: it hold lots of stuff and it is easy to open. I can easily fit a spare tube and all the tools needed to change a tire in it without using the extra expansion of the bag. Also, the zipper is easy to open. I had to get something out of the bag during a triathlon transition and it opened right up with ease, saving me precious seconds.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice construction., May 11, 2012
By justsomeguy
I think the quality is decent. The price is right. The question is what size do you need. For the price...the quality is very nice.

In reference to storage capacity....fit a leatherman wave with case...sigma 16 bicycle multitool and iphone 4 in a lifeproof case with room to spare...and not yet even unzipped to expand the capacity. The interior also has a clip to attach keys if needed.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Serves its purpose, May 9, 2012
By B. Huang
Nice looking saddlebag, and as the title states, serves its purpose, I guess. What I really dont like about it- the zipper to the main opening does not go all the way to the bottom of the bag, thus limiting the opening of the bag. It forces you to "pry" the bag open to put stuff in or take it out. Thats the best way I can describe it. picture a traditional mailbox with the opening in the front. now say the hinge is located NOT at the bottom, but an inch up from it. Would make the mailbox difficult to open, right? Thats how this is. But otherwise, it straps on easily and is discrete. I like that it expands down (my other one expands length-wise).

Verdict: I would not buy this again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just the right size, great value, May 7, 2012

Just over ten bucks for the Medium... It fits perfectly under the seat of my Salsa Cassaroll, with enough room for my tube, multi-tool, gas and phone. buckles in and tightens down securely. I am really pleased, and such an affordable price! I haven't had to use the expanding feature, but I like having the option.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Inconspicuous, May 7, 2012
By Golden Tamaraw (Thorndale, PA)
I've owned this since September 2011 and if not for stumbling upon it here in Amazon I wouldn't have remembered that I already have this on my bike. Minimalist design, weatherproof construction, and its capacity to hold common stuff a biker would bring on their rides. The logo is reflective and can even accept a clip-on type of rear blinker. I particularly like its key holder so your car/house keys would not tumble on the road and be lost forever should you forget to close the cover.

For those on a budget but still want a good value bike bag, this fits the bill.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works. Good price. I had to modify it because of my own pickyness, May 3, 2012
By BSInvesting
It works well, is a good price, and a good size. The straps along the top wouldn't conveniently fit between the seat post bars and hold the bag tight up against the seat as high as I would have wanted, so the bag hung a little low. I ended up removing the straps from the bag and re-slung it with parachute cord which I could cinch up tight against the seat.

Great product for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little bag, April 30, 2012
By airzeke
I bought this to replace an older bag the snapped into place. While I was a little disappointed that this bag did not have that feature ( I do miss the convenience of it...) I have since grown to really like this product. The two straps keep it very secure and compressed at the same time. Very sturdy construction at an affordable price. I appreciate the nice little features like the mesh pocket in the flap and reflective logo. The medium size is perfect to hold a spare inner tube, mini multi tool, tire levers, tire patches and front & rear LED lights when not in use. The bag will even expand if I need to carry more than that! I usually bike around with a camelbak so storage space isn't really a concern but this bag is perfect for carrying just the bare essentials and having them easily accessible. Excellent product.

The size of this bag is just about perfect for my needs. The bag does not protrude from the rear of my bicycle seat and holds my items very well. My items include a 26" tube, tire levers, tire patching kit, keys with a little room to spare. This is all with the bag in the collapsed mode.

The reason it's not 5 stars is due to the stitching on the underside of my bag. The bottom of my bag should have a smooth contour in the shape of a U, but the stitching is off and the bottom of the bag's fabric is not stitched in correctly. This makes the fabric uneven and bulbous near the stitching. I don't think it'll cause troubles down the road otherwise I would have returned it, but it's a definite hit to its quality.

All of the clips and zippers work well and the bag stays on well. The velcro strap that wraps around the bicycle seat is a bit long, so there is extra velcro strap that extends. This may lead to picking up debris, but it's minor.

Good bag, great bang for the buck, perfect size. I'd still recommend this bag to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Seat Bag, April 27, 2012
By Robert Hasegawa (Duvall, WA)
My only complaint about this bag is the material that is exposed when you unzip the bottom to expand the bag. I like the fact that you can expand or contract the bag with a zipper, but the material that is exposed when you do unzip is very thin compared to the rest of the bag. Aside from that, I like everything about this bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  smaller than i thought, but good quality, April 19, 2012
By acorn
Based on the online pictures, I figured it would be larger. Its about as large as I figured the small version would be.
It fits snuggly under my bike seat and doesn't rattle or move around at all. Even the tire levers I leave loosely inside don't rattle as I go over bumps.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Must have equipment, April 18, 2012
By dzigimigi
Happy with the purchase, looks good, quality materials. little smaller than i expected but hey i'm not going shopping with it. Velcro strap that goes around seat post is short. rear reflector is completely covered by the bag. Still a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good buy & well made, March 20, 2012
By cboon
I spent a lot of time looking for a good saddlebag, even bought a few to try out until I found the Avenir Bigmouth series. These are well made, well designed and roomy. And so I bought a small & a medium saddlebag.

Here's what I carry in my medium saddlebag (without expanding it):
1) 2 tyre levers
2) a spare 700c inner tube
3) a pair of Look cleat covers
4) a Lezyne SV10 multitool
5) And a Nokia N8 with back cover & pouch.

Pros:
1) Expand when you need extra space.
2) Fairly light weight
3) The strap goes over the saddle rails then under the saddlebag and finally buckle together. More secure than velcro on the side!

Con:
1) Not waterproof. But it was a raining heavily when I cycled home from work.
2) The strap that goes around the seatpost was a bit rough.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Happy with this purchase, February 28, 2012
By Tudor Popescu (Seattle, WA United States)
Got it fast from Amazon. Had no problem attaching it to my bike. The zipper and opening is well placed so you can access it without taking the bag off your bike. It is nice that it extends from 55 to 73 cubic inches but trying to fit inside a 'big' thorn resistant bike tube of size 27x1-1/4 it's a tough task. If you have that kind of tube and a few other little items, go for the larger size of the bag.
the bag is of excellent construction and quality, it is waterproof (so far) and fits well under the bike seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bag, no problems, stays dry, January 16, 2012
By Trust me I Know (Delaware)
I have used this for about 1 year on a MTB. IT has been great so far and attaches easily underneath the seat with velcro straps. Easy to get a snug fit and pretty roomy on the inside. The zipper is good and doesn't stick or jam. No zipper rust or any other problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect!, January 3, 2012
By Mark A.
I ordered the medium size bag for a little under seat storage on my mountain bike. I'm a casual rider that just needed a secure bag that would fit my cell phone, wallet, keys, etc. First off, this bag has more capacity than I expected. It fits everything I wanted and leaves me with room to spare. I have been able to also carry a small all-in-one tool and still have some free space. It is very secure and I have had no problems at all with water/mud penetration into the bag (it is very well sealed). I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  cute bag, December 30, 2011
By D. J. Sharp (Mustang, OK)
I'm new to todays bike rideing products but this is a cute little bag. It will not hold a 6 pack but a cell phone and one bottle of water will fit just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does everything it is supposed to, November 29, 2011
By NM
This seat bag is awesome, it's the only one I've owned so maybe I'm so maybe that's why I like it so much. It does the job well and I feel like it's very secure. For those wondering how much it holds I'll try to paint a picture. In this bag I can fit, my phone (HTC Thunderbolt which is a pretty large phone), wallet (which is pretty thick), car keys and still have room for more. I bet I could still fit a bike repair kit in it with all my stuff in there. I like this product so much that I'll buy another one for my wife's bike.
