Good socks - here is the size table, December 28, 2008
By Anne Kopf-Sill (San Francisco Bay Area, CA United States)
|
|
As others have mentioned, these socks are comfortable and wick moisture effectively - exactly what I want in a running sock and I'll be ordering additional pairs. However, the "merchant's sizing chart" did not map shoe sizes to the Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large designations which makes the sizing chart less than useful so I ended up with the wrong size. Once I received the socks, I could see that the package has the complete sizing table with all the information one needs to order the proper size. I'll recapitulate that table here to help others.
Small equals Womens shoe sizes 4-5.5
Medium = Womens 6-10 = Mens 7.5-9
Large = Womens 10-12 = Mens 9-12.5
XLarge = Womens 13-15 = Mens 12-16
XXLarge (although I don't see this size on Amazon) = Mens 16-18.

Great Socks., July 24, 2008
By Mary Zavitz (Michigan- USA)
|
|
They say "Men's" but these are really generic sized socks for both men and women. I purchased these New Balance socks for running, biking and walking. I wanted an ankle sock with wicking properties. These socks are very comfortable, stay put and keep your feet dry. I am very satisfied with them. No awkward seams are rubbing into blisters and the odor stays to a minimum. If you want comfort, performance and a good price, you will like these alot.

Good Quality and Comfort, December 20, 2008
By S.F. (Tucson, AZ United States)
|
|
These are very comfortable socks. I purchased them for my short runs since high quality running socks are so darn expensive and really only needed on runs longer than 6 or 7 miles. These socks are very comfortable and they look to be well made. I am not sure about the sizing though. I wear a size 13 shoe so I ordered the XL socks. While they are working out fine, my heel does not line up with the gray heel portion of the sock. I think if you are a size 13 you should get the Large socks rather than the XL.

Great socks, picture inaccurate, July 17, 2009
By Hammerklavier (Los Angeles)
|
|
I'm around a 13.5 E, and these socks fit great. (I got the XLs)
*UPDATED*
I originally subtracted a star because there seemed to be 2 pairs of black logo socks and 1 pair of greys, unlike the picture that showed 1 each of black, grey, and blue. Another reviewer mentioned that the blue is actually a really dark navy so I double-checked, and it turns out they're right. They look nothing like the do in the picture, and you really have to stare at them under a light to tell, but they are indeed a dark blue. I've changed my review to 5 stars, since the product is technically as presented. The colors really aren't a big deal anyway-- they're really great socks.

My son loves these!, April 1, 2009
By Dominique W
|
|
I ordered these as well as the no-show style for my son to wear during track season. He loves them. Claims that they have improved his running and says they feel so good on his feet. He is even guarding these socks, which I find hilarious even though I'm enjoying actually getting two matching socks in the laundry basket at the same time.
I've placed an additional order for more so that he can ease up on the sock security.
Worth the money.

I try to run 25 miles a week. I've been doing that amount of mileage consistently the last few months as I prepare for a marathon. These socks are great. They feel good and keep my feet toasty warm.

Anne's size table is not really correct, August 21, 2009
By J. Evans
|
|
I liked these socks that I bought a year ago so I ordered another package for myself (large) and one for my wife (medium). She wears a size 6 shoe and the socks are too large. I wear a men's size 9 and the large are too large. I just looked at my last year's order and I ordered medium for myself and they fit better; just a little snug. Hope Amazon will pick up the freight for the reorder.

Great socks at a great price, June 21, 2010
By Tech Support (Bartlett, Illinois)

These socks are awesome for the price. They are little bit thicker than I expected. I have other running socks and they are much thinner. They are not my favorite but for the price, I would buy them again. Definitely a good replacement for cotton socks

Great socks, September 23, 2009
By Shirley Kaiser (Carmichael, CA United States)

PROS: High quality, comfortable, help keep feet cool with exercising. Serve the purpose just fine - I got them to wear exercising - walking several miles a day.
CONS: Don't like the big NB advertisement, but tolerable.

No more generic size socks for me!, June 26, 2009
By John (PHOENIX, AZ USA)
|
|
I have a wide, size 12 foot. Most men's socks that you buy at retail store come in packs that say something like, "Fits Sizes 9-12." As anyone with larger feet knows, there is no such thing as a sock that fits size 9-12. After a washing or two these are size 9 or 10 socks at best. They do not fit a size 12. This is especially true with ankle-high athletic socks. I recently purchased some major name-brand "size 9-12" ankle socks. I could barely pull them over my heel. I gave two packs of them to charity... I can't wear them.
These socks come in actual size categories. Not some generic - one size fits most - size. The X-Large fits my large feet very well, even after a couple of washing. They are very comfortable socks and seem to be high quality. The price is reasonable. The department store socks are cheaper, but I don't have to try to cram my feet into these. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Black or Blue?, September 22, 2009
By D. Harkins (Mesquite, TX USA)
|
|
These are really GREAT socks! Love them! Just the right height, wicks moisture, very comfortable. My only complaint is that the blue logo is really a very dark navy, not the royal blue that shows up on my monitor. I have to take my socks to a place with very good light to sort the navy logo from the black logo. They look so much alike, it's VERY hard to tell the two colors apart except in daylight. Personally, I would prefer they be all one color, preferably the gray. That would make sock sorting so much easier. The color issue is not enough to lose a star in my opinion. Just a minor annoyance.

good athletic socks, June 17, 2011
By kozmikrokker (Highland, Utah United States)
|

They are made of kind of mesh material that is permeated so your feet can radiate heat, assuming you have permeated shoes as well. My feet are never hot or sweaty, these socks absorb that and keep my feet protected from scuffing and rubbing.

Wonderful socks, August 2, 2010
By M. Vonada (Cleveland, OH)
|
|
Got these socks for a nice price, and I am a big fan. They are very comfortable, even for long runs, and have been very durable through a couple months. They are also the right height that they pass the heel of my shoe (no rubbing) but they don't stick out like 90's tube socks. I would definitely buy them again.

Great socks for biking, running, etc, June 6, 2010
By Tyler E. Toone
|
|
I bought these socks initially because of the good deal, but now they are some of my favorite athletic socks that I use for running, cycling, basketball, and many other athletic activities. I thought they would be too thick for biking, but in the cooler spring weather they were awesome and helped keep my feet warm. During the warmer days in summer they seem a bit thick. I let my wife wear a pair for a trail run we went on while on vacation and she really liked them too.
I highly recommend these socks for a good, comfortable, all-around athletic sock.

These socks are very nice for the price. I run 3 miles about three or four times a week on concrete or the boardwalk. These socks work very well and as good as socks costing $10 a pair. I can really highly recommend these.

Great socks!, April 21, 2010
By K. Sartor

These socks are very thick and have a band around the middle for arch support. I have a condition called plantar fasciitis which makes it hard for me to walk without proper support. These socks are amazing at giving support! I would recommend them to anyone who has foot problems.

the best socks, March 25, 2010
By Garret Wilson (San Francisco, CA USA)

You can't beat these socks. They fit well. They are high-quality and well-made---they don't fall apart at the seams after a few washings like cheaper socks. They look sharp and hug your feet without being too tight.

Good quality, March 17, 2010

The socks were good quality. I just wish the seller would have listed what foot size each pair fit. I would have bought XL if I would have known how snug they would be on me.

Best I've found, March 14, 2010
By Consumer Reports (Atlanta, ga)
|
|
Real easy review here, best ankle high sock I have found and I have tried A LOT!!! Somewhat hard to put on if your feet are at all damp (fresh out of the shower), however are the best fitting sock and stay snug to your feet so they wont bunch up. Feels like there are elastic bands inside the sock which I don't think there are. I consider this a good thing, great for golf, running, sports, etc..

Pretty good, January 31, 2010
By realist (Sunnydale, CA)
|
|
As far as the socks themselves go - no complaints. They are more comfortable than the big costco pack of cheap white ankle socks that I'm phasing out. I do run and I have not yet developed any blisters or problems while wearing these socks. Eventually, something will happen, but I won't blame the socks. They've passed the "gear test" meaning they get stored with the running stuff instead of the every day stuff.
What I don't like is that the three pairs really do have slightly different colored/shaded "NB" logos. What I really want is a big stack of high quality and identical socks. I hate sorting socks and it bugs when I have to throw one way 'cause its mate got lost or messed up.

Best socks I have purchased so far., January 28, 2010
By D. Larson (Chandler, AZ)

These socks don't shed on the bottom of your feet after wearing them all day and sweating. Most socks leave lint on the bottom of your feet. So far, they seem to be wearing well.

Very comfortable socks!, January 5, 2010
By DH (Mobile, AL)
|
|
They are very good excercise socks, or you can wear them as casual socks. I really like them. The only complaint that I have is the size chart was not clear. I wear 9 1/2 shoes and I bought medium ones. They fit very snug, almost a little too small. I'm actually OK with that. But if you like the socks a little looser, you may want to go with the large(if you wear 9 or 9 1/2 shoes). Overall, very good and comfortable socks.

I wear size 9 and most running socks at the store are big on my feet. The mediums of these socks are perfect - they also have more cushion than most running socks. At the price, they are an excellent bargain. I think I will order another 3 pairs.
