 Whirlpool Replacement Filters - NEW models from 3M, February 13, 2009

If you are looking for the replacement filter for the Whirlpool UltraEase Filteration System that is Undersink Twist-On Filter, this is it. Lowes use to sell a Whirlpool filter system and replacement filters, now 3M sells the replacement filter. Lowes has discontinued selling the Whirlpool replacement filters.
The old replacement filter models from Whirlpool where:
WHCF-SUF Reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odor
WHCF-SUFC Reduces sediment, chlorine taste, odor and cysts
The new replacement filter models from 3M are:
3M Filtrete 3US-AS01 Reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odor
3M Filtrete P3US-PF01 Reduces sediment, chlorine taste, odor and cysts

Very easy to replace, just unscrew the old one and screw this one in. Make sure both of the seals are on the top, otherwise you'll end up with a ton of water under your sink!

I replace these filters every 6 months under my sink in the kitchen. It is attached to my cold water line. Before installing this filter, I had a lot of scale that clogged my sink faucet. I had to clean it with vinegar every month or so. This filter does a good job of reducing scale deposits. It makes great tasting coffee and I feel better drinking water that has been run through the filter.
This vendor is great. The replacement filter arrived sooner than I anticipated. I will order this again via Amazon.com when the 6 months use are up on this latest filter.

I had to do more research than I felt was necessary to actually figure out what I was buying and if it would work with the filter holder/filter set I bought at Wally World. So, being the nice guy that I am, I'll post it so you can make a better informed buying decision..
The 3M Filtrete 3US-PF01 is the advanced replacement filter cartridge designed to fit Filtrete Systems 3US-AS01, 3US-PS01 and Whirlpool Systems WHCF-SUF, WHCF-SUFC. This is a genuine 3M Filtrete Professional Water Filter. 54417. Replaces the old part number WHCF-SRC and WHCF-SR.
The 3US-PF01 Product Specifications:
Micron Rating: 0.5
Capacity: 2,000 or 6 months
Flow Rate: 2.0 GPM
Operating Temp: 40-100 F
Operating Pressure: 25-125 psi
Dimensions: 13 11/16" x 3 3/16"
No Tool Required for filter change
Filtrete Systems equipped with an internal shut-off valve
Notice the "Micron Rating." This filter does a better job than MANY reverse osmosis systems!!! .5 micron rating is ridiculously small and will astound you with how much better your coffee, icecubes, cooking water, etc. will taste. You WILL notice a drop off in your water pressure at the sink tap when you use it. I consider that to be an engineering limitation and easy to live with. When you use the hot water you'll still have all the pressure you need.
BTW, take your time when installing it. I know, if you've got a cramped under sink area it can get pretty claustrophobic under there. Well, suck it up, buttercup, and do it right the first time. Otherwise, you'll be under there SEVERAL times trying to get it right. Having an attentive helper to hand you tools, etc. will definitely be a big help for you so you won't have to slither in and out of there to get it done.
Your effort will be worth it. You'll love the way your water looks and tastes. Btw, if you have REALLY bad water, I'd recommend some type of string filter before it. One of the "whole house filters" would be a good choice. (If you're concerned about your water quality, you should probably have one of those installed on your house anyways.) That way, you won't be clogging up this filter prematurely with large particles.

It, like everything else is over priced and you have a choice...go without. How does it work? It works beautifully. Here in florida water is very expensive and the taste changes during different seasons. I don't think the water dept. does all it can to ensure good tasting water therefore you must filter it.

This is the 2nd time I ordered this 3M Filtrete P3US-PF01 Professional
Replacement Water Filter. The Filter is the same as what came with the
Whirlpool refrigerator when I purchased it. The best thing about these
filters is the price, the lowest I have been able to find on the internet.

I have used this type filter for 1 year and have been very pleased with its filtering ability. Although it is a little on the pricy side it is the best that is avaiable. I will continue to replace with this type filter in the future.

I've been using these filters for about 2 years now. The packaging says they last 6 months, but in my experience they only seem to go about 3-4 months before the flow is reduced to a somewhat meager trickle. That being said, I may just install a drinking water tap on my kitchen sink and line this filter to it, leaving the main cold water flow for washing things and such.

I've been using this filter for 1 year now. I believe the original box said that I wouldn't lose any water flow. But I knew that wouldn't be true. Over the course of 6 months there is about a 33% loss in terms of Gallons Per Minute filtered (my faucet with new filter took 56 seconds to filter 1 gallon of water, after 6 months it took 1 min 24 seconds), but there is no decrease in the quality of water which still tastes great from the filter. I live in an area where I can taste the chemicals and minerals in the water and this filter gets the junk out. Easy to change out, with a minimal amount of water to clean up. You can't filter water this quick with a Brita, or Pur pitcher in your refrigerator, and you change the filter twice a year instead of 12 times a year.

Great filter. Easy to replace, water taste clean & pure and it has the 3-m name so you can be pretty sure its made well and to higher standards. This one filters out sediment, chlorine & cysts. My only observation or complaint would be that it does not mention lead where most other superior replacement filters in this price range would. Perhaps it does but it I don't see it? The under the sink setup on the whole unit is pretty easy but the only thing that bothers me there is the plastic hose hookup via plastic compression clamps. Its easy to do and seems to works well but never the less it scares me a little. I would have preffered screw clamp ends. Well this review is for the filter replacement. They only offer two types so this is the one to get since the other whlie cheaper by about $10.00 does not filter out cysts and who knows what else?

This is what we use to filter our cold water supply in the kitchen. It works pretty well and tends to last about 2 months before needing replacement. Just another water filter to replace in the house from time to time.

I've been buying this waqter filter for about two years now. It's very convenient and easy to replace. I know my water is filtgered and clean to drink including tjr removal of any cysts that may be in the water. One of my houshold has a chronic illness and this water filter is a must for health reasons. I am very happy with the filter system.

The water quality is alot better and is crystal clear, and has no after taste. The instructions were very good but they (3M) assumed that everyone installing the unit had modern plumbing. It cost me another $1oo just to get the fittings correct. Also they should have mentioned the distance for the right side clearance not just the bottom clearance. I had little room to attach the outlet tubing and after testing and an hour it came loose and flooded my kitchen and of course ran through the ceiling into the basement and destroyed some ceiling tile.After I relocated the bracket and re-attached the hose, everything worked as advertised. Can't blame them for my mistake but be aware of your existing plumbing. What should have taken less than an hour to complete lasted six. As far as ordering from Amazon, well I keep using them and will continue.

This unit was the direct oem replacement for my under-sink water filtration unit. It installed very easy, and was operating within 2 minutes. These units are great even if the water in your area isnt over-chlorinated! Definitely worth the purchase, and one of the best prices available(much cheaper than the retail stores.)

I am super picky and I can taste any little anything in water but this filter gives you plain old super clean tasting water. This professional filter did slow water flow a slight bit more than the advanced version but its well worth it for the additional filtering benefit

The Filtrete water filter 3US-PF01 is a good compromise for me. I have used it for about 2 years. It does a good job reducing the chlorine taste and will last for up to 6 months depending on water volume. The flow rate of about .5 gal/minute is a bit slower than some but worth the few extra seconds wait.

Simple to install and water seems as pure as the very complicated Kinetico drinking water system was. Since Kinetico was in the garage, and the plumbing ran from the garage to the refrigerator water/ice and the sink drinking water tap, this one is in the garage where Kinetico was. I am standing when I change this filter.
No taste. Just pure water. Might be my imagination, but I think my pinto and kidney beans are better now because I soak and cook them in this simply pure water.

Can't say enough about this filter... u will see the differants the minute u chance the filter.. the water is crystal clear and it tastes as if u have a very high in expensive filtering system.. only u will know that the system in reasonable and easy to install.. I ordered 4 of these replacement filters. I have been very happy with the 3M filter. However, all 4 of the filters arrived already opened. They were each inside a plastic bag that was not sealed (just twisted closed), inside boxes that were open. They were packaged inside the taped Amazon box, so it seems that they arrived from the Amazon warehouse this way. Since these are NOt factory sealed, I have no confidence that these are genuine, unused and/or safe to use. I am returning them for a refund and will go to Lowes to purchace them instead. It may cost a few dollars more, but at least I can be sure that they are untampered with before I purchase them.

Excellent product. Produces great tasting water and filter generally lasts longer than the 3 months suggested. We have been using the filter which is capable of removing cysts. Amazon beats the price at our local Lowes store.

We opted to go with the Filtrete system (formerly Whirlpool) rather than the much higher priced Reverse Osmosis systems, and we have not been disappointed.
These filters give you better water than you get from bottled water and it has a flow that is useful for more than just a small cup of water (which is basically the benefit of the Reverse Osmosis... that one is intended for serving into a cup).
Both my sink aerator and my coffee machine have seen far less scaling since we installed this system, and there is never a smell of chlorine any longer.
