| | My 3 yr old son loves this! He is a big boy and can squeeze it into the cup himself. (: And bonus is that if he squeezes too much it automatically goes back in! Too cool. This is a must everynight before the ritual of teet brushing.... I put a little flip hour glass sand timer on the sink to make sure we do it long enough. Great product, FABULOUS price on Amazon!

| | Most toothpastes today already contain fluoride. This product (from J & J ) is a great supplement specially for people and kids who are very picky. The taste is very pleasant. Not too minty and not too sweet. It is very mild, unlike the taste of Listerine or Cepacol which no way my kids will put in their mouths -this is not a mouthwash by the way; just a fluoride supplement.
I love the unique, ingenious way it dispenses. You squeeze the bottle and it comes up on the top of the bottle which has a small receptacle and is just enough fill for a gargle.
Do you need it? Well, it is really up to you and how you handle your dental hygiene.

| | ACT AntiCavity Fluoride Mouthwash for kids (bubblegum flavor) is a product that can be used with kids 6 and over and in adults as well. It does have a strong bubblegum (pink bubblegum) flavor that most kids like. Some adults will find this pleasent too - especially those that chew gum.
It has NO ALCOHOL which is good in that it will not dry out the mouth's tisues or cause irritation to oral wounds.
All ACT Mouthrinses have .05% Sodium Flouride as their active ingredient. Fluoride disasociates into its ion form in the mouth and will bond with the tooth enamel forming a harder enamel crystal. Thus, it strenghtens enamel and makes teeth more resistant to decay. Studies show a reduction of 40% in kids who use this product daily, and a 71% reduction in root caries in older adults. So it makes sense to use a fluoridated mouthwash.
This product is to be kept away from children under 6 who may inadvertantly drink the whole bottle, thus getting a case of fluoride toxicity in the process. These containers do come with a child-proof cap.
The only ACT fluoride rinse that has alcohol in it is ACT Restoring Anti-cavity Mouthwash. The 11% alcohol content is added to kill bacteria. Keep alcohol products out of the reach of children due to the potential for alcohol abuse.
As a dentist, I recommend a 30 second to 1 minute rinse once per day, preferably at night before bed. If you have little or no cavities, this product is not really necessary. However, if you are one of those people who get cavites regularly or from time to time, this is a product that can save you the cost and trauma of going to the dentist to get a filling. Recommended for all kids ages 6 - 18, and for adults who still get decay.

| | | I am an adult and I use this product daily because I have a hard time talking myself into using adult flavors that burn my mouth. The bubble gum flavor isn't overwhelming, either. The active ingredient level is the same as adult products. The BEST part? The bottle is now a #2 plastic bottle; it used to be a concerning #4 plastic.
