A winner for the price, April 21, 2009
By Bixx1126 (SO CAL)

I was plesantly surprised by the quality of the knife for the price. It is well made, sturdy, and just the right size for slipping into your pocket with the belt-clip without taking up too much room. The blade is razor sharp! My only hang up on this particular knife is that it does not open quickly and when you use the thumb stud, it is very easy for your thumb to slip if you go too fast and rub it across the bottom of the blade, of which, obviously can be dangerous. Otherwise this is an excellent mid-size knife that is perfect for the price!

Just buy it, you won't be disappointed, March 19, 2009
By The Vinni (Worcester, MA USA)

|
Pros
-well balanced and weighted
-good length and unbeatable quality at this price range
-the faux blade can be ground and sharpened to a real blade
-black blade is amazing looking -rediculously easy to open once you learn
Cons
-hard knife to sharpen because it isn't a cutting knife, its a stabbing one
-doesn't come too sharp
-the screw that goes through the handles and blade comes loose, fixable just by hand tightening
-crap it's hard to sharpen and keep that black coating on!

Nice Blade, July 6, 2009
By Gold Fish Lung (Brooklyn, NY)
|
|
This is a great knife at a great price. I wanted to test the sharpness that it came in by running it across my shins to see how much hair it would shave off. I now have a weird section of clean shaven leg. I won't be wearing shorts for awhile.
I don't know if i would want to bring this with me to a jungle or whatnot and try to survive there. It isn't nearly as big as the one Bear Grylls carries. I'd want a bigger blade to help cut out tinder or cut off a snake's head and use its skin to fill with urine and drink it later when i've run out of water and on the brink of dehydration.

Get it., February 20, 2009
By Ascetic Barabas (Upstate NY)

At this price this knife is a steal. It was far more sturdy than I expected, the blade does not wiggle at all. Easily flips open with one hand with a little practice and locks securely. The pearl grey handle is very attractive and the face plates on mine were not insecure. The size is convenient, the slim profile looks good. I was surprised at the high quality of this knife. I would purchase a serrated version or a polished mirror blade version too, if they came out with them.

I'm on the fence with this knife, July 29, 2009
By ~~TJC~~ (Columbus, OH)

I purchased this knife not too long ago. When I first got it and saw it, I was pleased with the look of it at first glance. After further playing with it i realized mine had one major problem: a badly made thumb stud. It cut my thumb up every time I used it and I wasn't too pleased. I might have just been unlucky and mine was made on a Friday, but other than that its a nice knife. Very sturdy construction, smooth movements, razor sharp edge, and a beautiful handle. So if you're planning to buy this knife, just be aware.

I love it, January 9, 2009
By Smailien (Colorado Springs)

It's a great knife
The blade is sharp, it is 440 steel.
Great feel and weight, good length.
Easy open.
Only problem is that one of the face plates was a little loose and I had to super glue it down but it's fine now.
It is probably a fluke so I will keep the rating at 4 stars.
It's super cheap and is a very good knife.

Cheap, poorly made, and overall a bad knife., March 15, 2011
By Bkln Mom (Brooklyn, NY United States)
|
|
This knife is one of the worst knives I have ever owned. The pearl gray handle is cheap looking and not attractive at all. The blade was unbelievably dull as soon as it came out of the box. I've only had it for about six months and only used it about ten times, and then the blade falls out. The clip is on the left side so it makes it uncomfortable to handle if you're a righty. And overall I was dissatisfied. Very, dissatisfied.

I had this knife for over a year, very comfortable to keep in the pocket, very sharp. However, I was really disappointed when I had to open a little plastic box where this knife bended like a paper and I didn't even put lots of pressure... So if you are planing to carry it to open envelopes when it's perfect, otherwise gonna be useless...

Look Closely- Be Sure You're Getting What You Pay For, June 1, 2010
By de Malion

Before you buy this knife, look closely at the picture given. The M-Tech knife is a plain manual folding knife. I purchased the M-Tech knife last year, however I lost it, so much did I like it that I bought it again. On arrival(which may I say, was very prompt) I discovered that this was a knock-off by a different company.
If you want the M-Tech knife look very carefully at the picture. Some things to look out for are:
1. The M-Tech knife is a manual knife- the knock-off is spring assisted(I know you can't tell this by looking at the picture, I just forgot to mention it earlier)
2. The M-Tech will have "M-Tech USA" stamped on the top right hand side of the blade - The knock-off has "Stiletto" written there instead.
3. The thumb-Stud on the M-Tech is located on the top side of the blade- The thumb-stud on the knock-off is on the top flared cross hilt.
These are the main things, other minor details such as shorter handle scales made out of lesser quality Mother of Pearl, are not easily seen in a picture. If I was buying the knife that I received I would be very pleased with it. However I would just like the knife described, pictured, and named on the page.
M-Tech Knife: Five Stars.
Knock-Off: Not original, but still Five Stars.

Stay Away from QSWORDS, February 13, 2011
By Johnny88 (Indiana)

Just recently I bought an M-Tech Folding Stiletto Black knife from "qswords". I would not be very upset if the seller would either take it back or replace it. Instead they tried to blame the defect on me because I opened the package. Can you believe it? How would a customer know a product is defective without opening the package? This is by far the worst online merchant I have ever encountered. For anyone who might read this review, please take my advice and never ever buy anything from "qswords".

Stiletto pocket knife, February 26, 2011

This knife was one of the worst knives that i have ever bought. The first thing that i noticed with the knife was the fact that you could not even open the knife with out have to tug on the knife. Which accually contributed to a scar on my hand. I would not advise giving this knife to a grand son or son because the knife will surely hurt them in just the process of opening it.

Bought the item due to the low price. Was pleasantly surprised to see that the blade was sharp and folded out correctly. After a month of usage as my pocketknife I found a piece of the handle which looks awesome btw, had broken off near one of the screws. Needless to say I was dismayed. The knife itself looked good, and it came sharp but having the handle fall apart was not good.

I returned it, but still a decent knife., July 28, 2010
By Vagabond
|
|
I personally returned the knife - though from the short time I had it, it seemed like a well built knife. Just for my needs, and style of knife wielding it wouldn't have been enjoyable for me to own.
Pros:
Real nice pearl gray handle finish.
Sturdy, built in belt/pocket clip.
Belt clip is built. So it hands "upside" down.
Nice sharp/thin blade
Cons:
Gray metal portion of handle is dull compared to pearl gray lower portion.
The "button" that opens the knife should be a bit larger. It doesn't standout well enough to make the opening of the knife smooth. So its a bit time consuming.
The button to release the blade back into place is also small and sluggish. Which makes it a bit of a dangerous knife - If trying to open and close it in a quick gesture.
These are the reasons why I returned the knife, but M-Tech is also the company that I'm ordering my next knife from. Because though I disliked this knife. The workmanship of the knife isn't flawed. Just the mechanics for me, didn't work well.

Good self defense knife, August 19, 2011
By David (Rochester, NY, USA)
|
|
When I received this knife I was pleased with it overall - it came very sharp and clean and it looked stylish. It was pretty hard to open and after a while I noticed the thumb-stud was a little defective and was cutting my thumb up. And then recently - about two weeks after first receiving it - I realized the blade screw was getting loose and the blade was wiggly. Besides those problems I think it's a great knife; good to just carry around for protection and while it's not designed to cut, it can still be used to open boxes and packages if you need it. I love how ergonomic the handle is and how easy it is to operate the blade release latch to close it. Overall great knife for a good price, but with some minor factory defects.

I like to collect knives, and this looked good to add to the collection. Its extremely good for the money and feels very durable, i just opened got it today. The blade is very pointy but could use a little sharpening. The only thing wrong was that i thought the blade would be a little bit longer. I just measured it at about 3 1/4 inches, not too bad. But im VERY satisfied with my purchase, Thank you everyone and have a nice day.

Unbelievably great deal!, December 10, 2011
By N. MacLean Miller (Centennial, CO USA)
|
|
For most things these days the phrase "you get what you payed for" rings true. But every so often an item comes along that defies that statement. This knife not only defies it but it absolutely shatters and blows it away! Before I got this knife in the mail I didn't have high expectations for it, but when I first held it in my hand I was amazed at how good of a knife it is for only $6. It's true it is made in China, but I suppose that even China makes a quality product once in awhile. It has a good weight and quality feel to it, it's sturdy and the blade doesn't wiggle around like most other knives I've purchased in this price range, the blade is also very sharp!
I first came across this knife about four years ago when I was searching Amazon for gift ideas for Christmas. My family is too large to buy everyone a big gift, we'd all have to file for bankruptcy after we broke the bank. So the way we do it is everyone's names go in a hat and whichever name you pull out is who you buy a big present for, and you buy a $5 present for everyone else. So I ordered one of these cheapies for every male in my family, but as soon as I received them I immediately jumped online and ended up ordering several more. One for myself of course, and then a few for all of my Marine Corps brothers who I served with in Iraq. Everyone loved them and even made comments about me spending too much on my "$5" gifts, I of course let them keep thinking that and didn't explain that I only went a buck over budget.
A few months ago I lost my trusty stiletto, and I was devastated, until I discovered that Amazon still carries them. But for four years the knife held up great , still no wobbly blade, no loose screws, and the blade was still relatively sharp. Two years ago I purchased a different $8 knife from Amazon, and while I still have that knife, it looks like I've had it for twenty years. The blade wiggles, several screws fell out, and it's held together by magic putty and duct tape. My stiletto knife on the other hand still looks and functions beautifully (for whoever ended up finding it lol), as I said I lost it several months ago, but up until the day I lost it it looked and functioned beautifully. I just received my replacement for it and it's still the same great quality. I was relieved that Amazon still carries them for the same low price, I ordered 3 of them, and why not? At that price you might as well give yourself a few backups in case you lose one.
So if you are looking for a few inexpensive stocking stuffers, or just looking for a knife for yourself you can't go wrong with this stiletto! Anyone you give it to will love it, you'll love it, and your budget will love you for it! This stiletto knife is highly recommended!

I ordered this knife for fishing and other purposes, but the first one wouldn't lock properly. I e-mailed the company and they sent me out a free replacement that was delivered within a few days of contacting the company (pretty great service). It locked perfectly and was super sharp and just a great looking knife; I really love it. I definitely recommend this product. Though I will add, it looks a bit different from the picture, but I think it looks better in person than in the picture.

Review...., May 22, 2011
By Frank Giann (New York)

|
Knife is small enough to fit in your pocket but a bit too thick in my opinion. The "pearl" handles are plastic but still look nice. The blade is razor sharp but does not feel too sturdy, time will tell how well it holds up. Its also quite slow and awkward to open with my big hands. Still worth the price though. No regrets...

Great buy!, April 19, 2011
By R. Jarreau (Louisiana)
|
|
I've had this knife for about a year and a half now. It has been in and around it all, yet it still remains in great shape even without sharpening. I use this knife for opening mail, simple cutting tasks, opening boxes, sometimes useful as a wedge, and much more. It's especially nice to carry around for some small protection if you ever go out as well. I remember when I first got this knife, it was pretty hard to open. All you need to do is loosen it up a bit and it's ready to fling open. You can flick this thing open with either your thumb, or you can press the open assist on the underside of the blade and flick it open. Pretty neat stuff once you get the hang of it, but I feel I may need a sharpening soon.

not bad, March 26, 2011
By Jace Studley (Darnestown, Moldova, Republic of)

Over all, I was happy with this knife, especially for the price. It's a good little knife to keep in your pocket, for any occasion that calls for cutting things. However, I found the blade tends to want to stick in the closed position. I also noticed that the locking mechanism tends to not close properly. Even so, still a pretty good knife.

Utility Knife or Self Defense, A Real Reliable Little Knife, February 5, 2011
By xeokym (mooooo jerzeeee)
|
|
I've got 2 of these knives by M-Tech, one with faux (resin) mother-of-pearl scales and the other with multi-color, swirly scales (like mussel shells), and I wouldn't have 2 of them if they weren't excellent knives. I paid well under $10 for each of them and they are the best "cheap" knives I have ever owned! Firstly, all the metal is a kind of matte-finish, "brushed" style, which gives a classy, high-tech look to the knife (you also won't give your position away by "flashing" a shiny knife...if you're like, a ninja or sniper or something ;0). Secondly, it has what I would call a neo-stiletto look, a modern spin on the classic style. I especially like the little "hilt" on the blade itself that prevents your fingers from slipping down. They open like butter, and you can either flick them open with the thumb-stud or give it a slight backhand flick and, with a little practice, get the knife to open so quickly it might appear to be a switchblade (which it is not - no spring mechanism whatsoever). But even though it opens with such ease, it will not fall open or open up when you don't want it to; the blade stays closed, clicked in place, and I've never had one open up accidentally.
I have put these knives through heavy use over the years, mostly a lot of rough yard work and opening up sacks of grain, wood chips, cutting rope, etc. and neither one has EVER loosened up, bent, chipped, or broke. I get the feeling that the blades are really VERY hardened steel, because they keep an edge and hardly ever need sharpening even after the most brutal use. The framework of the knife is just as tough, and I've had other knives of similar design come loose and need to be tightened up (the bolsters are tiny aluminum alan-head screws, so you can actually take the knife apart, tighten or loosen the blade tension, etc.) but I've never had to do such maintenance on these M-techs. The only thing I did was remove the clip, because I never clip a knife onto my belt, I always have it in my pocket, and without the clip it's obviously less bulky and smoother.
The scales are resin and they are the strongest, most durable plastic I've ever seen on a knife. The coolest aspect of the knife design, however, is the blade itself, which, midway down the blade, the top has been ground down in order to make the point even thinner. It's not sharpened to an edge on the top, but it definitely makes the blade's tip slimmer, thus any thrusting or slicing maneuvers are made even easier.
The knife is about 4" closed, the blade is about 3.25" long. After all the abuse I've put mine through, including getting them wet quite frequently, there's not a blemish or bit of rush on them anywhere. A truly reliable little pocket knife that will perform as both utility and self-defense.

cool knife but came broken, January 16, 2011
By MC (Lake Elsinore)

|
this knife was purchased for my brother the knife arrived with the handle pearl grey part broken not really a big deal and since it was a gift it wasnt really practical to return it he just super glued it but it makes the gift seem kinda lame when its broken like that. im sure they all dont come like that so besides that it seems like a pretty cool knife, nice and sturdy design and it folds nicely.

M-Tech Folding Knife, December 18, 2010
By Gelseth_Andrano
|
|
Even though it is not what I expected when I received this item, i give it a rating of %. The reason is because even thought htis item claims to be a awitchblade, it is certainly not; it's a knife with an assist on the blade. It does snap open quite quickly, and lock into place, but there are no springs or anything of the liek to be found here. Knife it sturdy, sharp, and a great gift. Great knife, but don't expect a swtichblade

Pretty good, November 24, 2010
By R. Spicer
|
|
It's fair to say that this plenty of knife for the money. It seems well made, and plenty sharp. I've never been in the habit of flipping out folding knives like a switch blade, but at night while watching TV, I find myself practicing that, and am getting pretty good at it. The only thing I don't like about the knife is that there is no attempt at ergonomics or comfort of any kind on the handle, though it's strong and sturdy, so far. I vacillate between a 4 an and a 5 for a rating, due to the discomfort of the handle, but since it's a very good knife for the money, it's gets a "5". Considering the price, I would definitely recommend it.

A very Good Knife for a CHEAP price! I was very happy with the M-tech but one flaw about this knife is that the screws came lose the first couple of days I got it,Also when I got this knife it was scratched!?! I mean like what the hell but there are some great things about this knife I love, like the style also once you learn how to open it with one hand it looks pretty cool and you can show off your knife skillz to your friends. Plus the stiletto was used by the mobs so if you want a stabing knife this is a great buy.

Great knife for the price., June 30, 2010
By JD

|
I bought this knife, not expecting it to be of very good quality because of it's price tag, and I was pleasantly surprised. The knife looks great, and with a little sharpening it really works. The only bad thing about it is that sometimes it is hard to open, and the black steel on the knife isn't of very good quality. But overall, a must buy for the price.

one thing is the knife's size, take the picure of the knife, and imagine it in your hands. its smaller. the blade is barely 3 inches, and the blade is a bit larger. opened, about half a foot. but it cuts fine, and is small and handy. very good-looking and tightly put together. altogether a very good knife.

For the price this knife can't be beat. It is sharp as crap, fast opening (if not can be adjusted) and fits perfectly in your hand. Definitely be careful cause it looks just like a switchblade though...and if you get good enough, you could open it even faster than one!

Ok, so i read the reviews and heard some pretty negative ones. So when i bought one I figured id get two. I couldnt be happier. They're sturdy built and came fairly sharp. Using a 20 degree angle on a set of crock sticks they take a really sharp edge.

Average..., May 24, 2010
By Zleche Eleveta (Syracuse, UT USA)
|
|
Well, to start off, when I got this knife, it came in a much bigger box than necessary, making the knife fall out of the smaller box inside of it. Second, The knife doesn't flip open like a lot of other pocket knifes. It's a lot smaller than I had expected, and not really a knife you can just hold in your hand; you have to actually grip it. Lastly, there are like five different ways to open this knife, half of them being really inconvenient, with the other half not even working.
It did come very sharp, though. I have to say, it works well, too.

Artfully crafted, loved it!, January 6, 2010
By Bemisguy
|
|
The knife was beautifully crafted with a good balance and sturdy design. Very sharp, learned that the hard way. I only had two problems. The pearl grey grip had a small crack, which I, personally, like, as it makes the knife look worn. The other thing was there was an etching that said "Made in China," but it was very small. This is not a quick draw knife, but, using the thumb stud, I figured out how to flip the knife open quickly, with about ten minutes of practice. Beautiful knife!

You can mean business., December 20, 2009
By Doe Boy (Medford, OR USA)
|

A switchblade is for a common street thug. And due to the financial collapse it's a buyers market all over the place. You'll be offered all kinds of deals, and its now only when and how to accept or turn them down. Especially in common areas like a pizza shop or club; holding the line can mean a half turn, pulling this from a pocket, and folding open in one movement... putting in the side between ribs. With its small thin blade, whoever gets poked won't 'noticeably' bleed until you can put the whole situation behind you. Can train with its weight to make use of it as a decent projectile.
Only problem is its hilt; to make best use you'll do best to wrap a cloth or napkin around it.

By Jay Torres
|

Okay, well I must admit, I did not get my money's worth...This knife could probably sell for more. I was expecting some cheap crappy knife, but I stand corrected. As people have said, it does have a minor drawback - due to the fact that the thumb stud is really sharp and cuts up your thumb a bit. The blade is quite sturdy. I have to admit, this knife is amazing. And as for the shipping, I received the knife within three days of ordering. All in all, this is one of my best purchases yet.

For a seven dollar knife.Your complaining?, January 28, 2012
By Tadeusz Bej
|
|
I would be the first to admit that I'm NOT a fan of Chinese made knives. But are you aware of the fact that Kissing Crane now produces their knives in China. I have one of their Stilettos (Chinese made) doesn't make me happy but what are you going to do? It's all about companies seeking out cheap labor, making a profit. Back to the MTech knife please stop moaning over it. It is what it is. In fact it's not a bad little knife, just remember how much you paid for it. The shipping almost costs as much as the knife. The knife is like a Bic lighter,do you stomp your feet and complain when it runs out of butane and you need to buy a new one? Want a better knife get ready to shell out the bucks for it. PS Gerber is also making their stuff in China.

Really nice knife it has plenty of durability in case you drop it. it is great for: cutting envelopes, whittling, chopping, slicing, and if you are camping bring it. it is a great self defense knife. if you want to test its strenth get a can hold it and slice in it it does not take to much pressure it is a very sharp knife. i like this knife very much and it would be a great gift.

Excellent (at this price), December 28, 2011
By Atlas444
|
|
For such a low price, this is an excellent knife. It seems to be well-made, with good fit and finish. The blade is sort of small, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The knife actually has some weight to it and seems very sturdy. The locking mechanism is also sturdy and with a little practice it's quick to deploy. My blade came very sharp and it had the Mtech logo on it (another reviewer said theirs was an off-brand). Definitely a good option for an everyday carry knife. My only complaint is that the grips aren't quite as nice as in the picture. It's very slick plastic and looks dark gray. But again, at this price, that's not something I really care about. I have another complaint and that is that I should have got more of them. Buy these.

About what I expected for 7 bucks., December 13, 2011
By Jillightning

It's cheap, and it's definitely not terrible. It could stand to be sharpened, but I can easily do that myself.
The major downside is that it doesn't "lock" closed. If you touch the lever it pops open easily. I'm afraid it will accidentally open in my pocket or bag and I'll stab myself...

At 7 dollars, you can't be disappointed if it comes without defect. Mine arrived quick and I very much like it. I just don't like the thumb stud. It's useless. You can't open the knife with it without it digging into you. It's easier to use the flipper on the blade. and the blade is pretty stiff to open. But there is no blade play which is nice!
Over-all, for a $7 knife, this is a good buy.

You sometimes do get what you pay for. This knife is useless, barely opens two handed, and rarely locks into position. Very stiff to close also, and again requires two hands. If it weren't so cheap, I'd return it, just a lot easier to toss in trash. Lesson learned......

Great Buy, October 30, 2011
By SlimJim
|
|
This is a great knife. The build quality is great on both the handle, blade, and locking mechanism. The handle's 'wood' finish is a little darker than it shows in the picture (or at least I think). It really is a beautiful knife, I can see myself showing it off to people. It takes like 15 minutes to master flipping the blade out, and its a little stiff at first. The lock on the blade is nice...yeah that it, its nice; not great, not bad. The blade doesnt have any give; its solid when locked. The coating on the blade looks like it will wear off with extended use, but it looks like that wont happen for a while, and it will prevent rust.
Overall its a beautiful knife with great constuction. You cant beat the price, just buy it
(*only con: has the MTech USA trademark on one side and Made in China on the other)

I got this knife to replace my daily beater. It holds a decent edge for cheap steel. the sharp edges on the handle can make it uncomfortable to wear behind your belt, but it's fine in your pocket. It's is really hard to open with the thumb screw but with a little practice it can be opened fairly quickly with the nub on the top.
