A "go anywhere, do anything" short, the Pearl Izumi Men's Elite Versa Cycling Short looks equally stylish on or off the bike. Equipped with multiple pockets, a hidden adjustable waist, and technical fabrics, the ELITE Versa short features a detachable liner with a 3-D Versa chamois for superior comfort on the bike. The 3-D Versa chamois contains active carbon yarn technology for enhanced thermal regulation and three layers of multi-density padding to dampen road and trail vibration. The short's stretch shell fabric is a single laminated for warmth, wind, and water protection. A brushed interior is included for next-to-skin comfort. Machine washable, this short's other features include a one-zip security pocket, a snap front closure with a zip fly, and internal hook and loop waist adjustments. About Pearl Izumi More than 50 years ago in Tokyo, a father produced Japan's first bicycle racing apparel for his son, a promising racer. He named his soon-to-be-established company Pearl Izumi, derived from the gem "pearl" and an area of Japan known for its clear water ("Izumi"). Literally translated, the name means "fountain of pearls." Distributed in the U.S. since 1981, Pearl Izumi USA sponsored the U.S. national team in 1984 and several major trade teams during the mid-'80s, helping the company earn an almost cult-like following among cyclists. The Pearl Izumi USA line is dedicated to meeting the needs of the serious sport enthusiast, including not just cyclists but cross-country skiers, triathletes, duathletes, runners, and more.

Comfortable and stylish, March 24, 2010

Just have this thing about tight biker shorts...actually these have a removable biker short liner with the butt pad but attaches to the inside the shorts.. does not have a lot of drag and are very cool (temperature cool). Great shorts if the tight short thing is and issue like it is for me...plane on getting a few more pairs in other colors.

Very good for cycling, June 13, 2010

Bought this and have ride 50 miles with it. This is my first cycling shorts and was most impress by the pad. I use to have problems with my saddle and have change several of them including Max Flite gel Italia salle (cost me a bomb) but my sit bone still feel sore even after only 1 hr. But after I got his pants, It solved the saddle pain issue. It provides a cushion so good that i don't even feel my saddle even riding for 4 hrs straight.
This pants has 2 layers, the first is the skin tights pants that feels like a giant black underwear with a blue cushion pad at the bottom and outer layer is the stretchable nylon shorts with 4 pockets (2 on ea side),and it extend all the way to the knees. The size provided is pretty accurate.
The best thing about this is a cycling shorts in disguise and I can drop by coffee shop for some bagel and coffee without alarming the public with the sausage look.

Almost perfect baggy bike shorts, July 14, 2010

I've used these on three rides now, about 60 miles total, and they have been excellent. I thought that I would get sick of the swish-swish of the nylon as I rode, but these don't swish at all, in fact they are as comfortable to ride in as my spandex shorts without the "I'm a road warrior" look. I haven't noticed any disadvantages of the baggyness.
The pockets are good.
I gave them 4 stars because the chamois in the liner short is a bit stiff and strange. Once I'm on the bike I don't notice, but off the bike, definitely feels like a diaper. It might break in a bit after more miles.
Also, the large was a bit big in the waist for me (32" waist approx) and the built-in adjustment loops only contract the back of the short. I cinched them up and they work okay, but I'm not totally confident in the velcro.
