4.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple board for simple needs, July 1, 2009
By work smarter not harder... (NEW YORK CITY)
Pro's:

Great board, easy to use & stable, overclocks E5200 up to 3.5 ghz...

Have auto-overclock feature for both processor & memory, adjusts voltages too.

Great safety features to protect for memory & processor damage.

Nice standard features. Basic board, but get's the job done.

Has plenty of room for Drive upgrades

Board is compact, so it's an easy install in most cases, reduces build time by 10%

For the Price, you're getting a bargain.

the con's:

* No extra usb hubs provided, and limited cables provided.
* Only has 1 fan terminal, so you'll be out of luck if you like fan stats.
* 1 Legacy IDE cable slot(pretty much common with all new motherboards, but 2 would be nice)
* Limited Ram slots So no room to upgrade, so buy 4 gigs now.
* Only has 2 PCI slots.
* Has VGA port but no DVI port.(what is this 2003?)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent low priced board for HTPC., January 28, 2009
By wig (Macomb, MI United States)
Excellent low priced board for a home theater PC. I just used a 7800 Gt PCI express video card instead of the onboard video, just popped it in the bios even disabled the onboard video for me. Easiest build ever, takes new Intel 45nm chips even, Intel Wolfdale 5200 overclocked from 2.5 ghz to 3.2 ghz without upping any voltages. Runs Blue-Rays movies easily with 2 GB ram. Been running solid for 3 months, 24/7 no problems. Buy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice little Clocker, February 8, 2009
By G. Sessing (Simi Valley, CA USA)
This is a nice little mATX board. I'm running my E2160 at 3.42 GHz. This CPU ran at 3.51 on my EP35-DS3R. I haven't tried to push it past 3.42 on this budget board, but it will probably go higher if set vcore above 1.5v Gigabyte said this board wasn't a good OC board, but I'm pretty satisfied for the $. The clocking features are very simple and easy to OC.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  DIY Motherboards, July 11, 2010

I've used more Gigabyte motherboards than any others over the past 15 years. I worked for a company that built custom computers. I've put together over 1000 pc's. They have always been a good performer and worth the money.

By oldIT
first board i got was doa. second board is no better. installed new memory and i got nothing but BSOD at the loading windows. flashed so fast could not read it. have tried removing all devices. have tried bios changes. their website FAQ were pretty much useless. have tried contacting them through their tech support and that is useless too. maybe i just got two bad boards but i wouldn't recommend this board to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good motherboard for budget systems, March 13, 2010
By J. Thompson (Trinidad)
Used this board for two budget machines I recently built along with the Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz 2M L2 Cache 800MHz LGA775 Desktop Processor. They work well together and the board has really good overclocking features for such an inexpensive little thing (MicroATX). However, because it's Micro it is lacking PCI slots and the maximum memory is 4GB which is quite small for this day and age. Nevertheless it's still a good board; sturdy, reliable & inexpensive.

!Update!
A minor problem with this board is that whenever you boot with a Flash Drive already inserted you will get errors and it will not boot to Windows unless the drive is removed. I'm uncertain whether there is a BIOS setting to avoid this but if not it is definitely note able.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Died after 2 months, April 28, 2009
By B. Davis (Los Alamos, NM)
I read the reviews for this product and it seemed to fit the bill for a basic build.

It worked well for 2 months. Then stopped functioning. Fortunately EVGA replaced it.

I didn't update my review (to address one comment) because I'm learning to balance my time with new children. Back off!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap and allows for overclocking, March 6, 2010
By Roger Shek (Honolulu, HI)
Board works well and can overclock. Simple mATX board for cheap builds. Pair it with an Intel Pentium Dual Core e5200 4Gb of DDR2-800 and a decent gfx card and you've got a cheap and reliable pc. There have also been success with running OSX on this board.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice board, well made, January 7, 2010

EZ install and well made board. We used it to make a Hackintosh computer.... Worked fine... Making a Hackintosh is not for the timid or the shade tree hacker. But if you want a MOBO that works 99% with little Hacking.... This is a great choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Flawlessly., October 14, 2011
By Oleg
This motherboard is inexpensive but is perfect for a replacement or a basic set up.

When my motherboard died on the PC, I did not have a lot of money for a new computer or an expensive replacement, so I just found the cheapest one with decent reviews and now I have to add to the positive reviews.

I have had no problems whatsoever with about half a year of use, it even seems to be performing better than the old one even though there might not be as meany features.

Nevertheless, it's a great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good budget board, December 15, 2010
By Michael
The board is simple and uncomplicated. It is an easy install and survived the trip to Australia without an issue. The PCI-E slot for your video card won't cover the PCI slot as they are sufficiently apart and so, if like me you need a fax/modem to send faxes, then fear not. I put in a Quad core Q9505 and it is a simple overclock to get the multiplier up to 8.5X and the BUS up to 400, giving a simple overclock of the 2.83Ghz chip up to 3.4 Ghz. Fine for my office applications.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Incompatible with WinXP's /3GB switch., November 19, 2010
By Peter B. Nelson (Pine Island, MN USA)
Pros: Trivially simple to overclock my new E8600 from 3.3GHz to 4.0GHz. Just bumped frequency from 333 to 400 and set everything else on automatic. With stock cooler peak temp was 81C (at 100% load for two hours). Sweet!

Cons: Intel's Video driver is incompatible with Windows /3GB mode (see MS knowledge-base article #319043) using both the driver from the CD-ROM and the latest download from Gigabyte (6.14.10.5029, 1/21/2009). Yes, I tried lower values for /USERVA, down to the minimum 2048, with no success. Grrrr! Consequently, WinXP refused to exceed 640x480x16-colors (it was like 1986 all over again). Also, this mainboard reserves a large amount of RAM address space, leaving only 3.4GB usable out of 4.0GB physical RAM.

Other Thoughts: If you don't know what the /3GB switch is, then don't worry - you won't need it. But if you do, this failure is a show-stopper.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  First Time Gigabyte customer, November 15, 2010
By Oldschool52 (CUMMING, GEORGIA, US)
I have built computers for over 20 years. My last 10 builds were with ASUS boards and AMD processors. I got a super deal on this Gigabyte mother board and took a chance. (time for me to upgrade my computer) It was easy to install and worked great out of the box. I am running an AMD quad processor and 4GB DDR2 ram, 64 bit. I use the onboard video and sound. For my non-demanding use it works without a hiccup. (7 months now) I would recommend this board to anyone that needs a PC for normal use that does what it claims. My only complaint is not much documentation included. You have to go online for anything beyond normal installation but it is online.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works on Ubuntu Server 10.04, September 20, 2010
By Craig Rachel (Wichita Falls, Tx United States)
I've got this board working with Ubuntu Server 10.04. A couple things though:

To get it to properly poweroff, the following line should be added to /etc/default/grub

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi=force"

There is chatter on the web about this boards ethernet not functioning. I believe the latest kernels have fixed that, as I'm getting well over 8 megabits down, which is more or less what is expected from my ISP.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for the price, March 10, 2010
By Agent 007
For a low end board this is very stable. I'm using a single core 3.2GHz that is over clocked to 4.2GHz and it is running very stable. Color coated slots on the board makes it easy to assemble even for the novice computer user. The only cons I have is that it should had a total of four serial ATA's instead of two, and two more memory slots to total the 8Gigs of RAM. Other than those small cons, Solid Product!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good reliable board, November 25, 2009
By Fox (ME USA)
I have 2 running W7 & Vista, they are solidly reliable, no troubles & fast. One is using the onboard graphics with a 19" monitor at 1440x900x60 analog & displays HDTV & movies no problem. HD digital audio out (SPDIF) is a nice feature, but they don't include a connector bracket/cable so you need a 2 pin header to RCA adapter cable. I just plugged mine into my graphics card (also a 2 pin header) on the w7 machine & feed the digital audio out through the HDMI cable (if you have a graphics card that can do this).

Purchased this after my son's motherboard died on his HP that was less than 2 years old. HP, being HP,couldn't offer any help with the motherboard, but did offer to sell me a whole new computer. They said a replacement motherboard wouldn't be compatable. So I researched compatability and this one came up.Price was great, so I took my chances; and it hasn't given us any trouble in the 2 months we've had it so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Value, August 12, 2011
By David H. Reed (Kirkland, WA United States)
Good value in a motherboard - everything you are likely to need for a Core 2 Duo CPU. Has only 2 memory slots and limited expansion capability. Has full complement of SATA sockets, as well as IDE socket. Has on-board VGA and audio jacks. I dropped in 4 GB of DDR2 RAM, connected 1 TB SATA hard drive and SATA DVD burner, installed my TV tuner card and graphics accelerator card with HDMI, and it works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great motherboard fantastic upgrade!, July 21, 2011
By Beverly V Rainey (ORMOND BEACH, FL, US)
I bought this motherboard to upgrade an ailing HP Pavilion 510c. The ad stated I would be best to use a more powerful power supply, so I included that and the ad recommended using a matching Intel CPU. I purchased all that was recommended, having all other hardware already in the tower unit. I also added a SATA drive 560Gb hard drive, which this motherboard allowed me to add easily with several resident plugs for SATA units. The only frustrating thing had nothing to do with the board, but with HP's power plug. It required splitting it into individual wires and plugging in to the board manually instead of using the molded plug. This was due to HP changing the standard wiring to prevent just such a generic upgrade instead of an HP board (which is not available - Haha; must buy new computer - Not!) This computer is now the best in the house. It out shines two brand new laptops, one a Netbook, and one a standard Dell laptop. We watch streaming internet repeatedly with it, play DVD's, and get lightening fast response for everything. Before purchasing, take detailed measurements of your tower and make sure it will fit. Also find out what your power supply is rated at in Watts. Make sure you have one at least 250W or you will under supply the processor and graphics. Then before install, make a complete back-up of your entire system, including an image of your Windows system. That should allow re-installation of the operating system after replacement of the motherboard.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great replacemenet, easy swap-out, May 27, 2011
By Rob (South Carolina, USA)
I ordered this motherboard to replace the failing ASUS P5-B Deluxe in my desktop PC (used for photo processing, mostly). It allowed me to use my good dual-core Pentium processor, up-scale graphics card, the RAM modules I already had, and connect the three internal SATA hard drives. My only complaint is the limit of two memory slots. I only have 1GB memory modules, so was limited to 2GB of memory. The machine runs Windows XP SP3 - after doing some research and reading, I found that the OS and programs I use made very little use of anything over 2GB anyway. I've found the performance to be very good and the machine is now much more stable than previously.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  It's freaken awsome!!, March 29, 2011
By CLumzolo
I was recently trying to upgrade a manefactured Gateway 838GM CPU from an intel Pentium 4 630 to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 processor. I did some research and found out the Q8400 wouldn't work on the Intel 915G motherboard that comes with the stock Gateway 838GM, so I puchased this baby along with some DDR2 RAM here at amazon to with it and it works like a charm. It fit in perfectly on the Gateway case since it's an ATX. I overclocked the heck out of my CPU; with the dope BIOS this Motherboard comes with, everything was so simple. I highly recomend it, since it's worth way more than what it cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Gigabyte Motherboard, March 2, 2011
By D. Mantle
Purchased this as a cheap PC build for a relative for internet surfing and casual gaming. Normally I buy Asus motherboards for my own builds so this was my first Gigabyte motherboard purchase and my first micro ATX sized board. The price was great for a stable, quality board. I found it to be easy to install and work on. No problems or hiccups whatsoever.

I did find the manual to be a little lacking in detailed instructions for setting up the CPU and memory frequencies, clock speed multipliers etc in the BIOS to get my Intel E5500 dual core CPU running at 2.80 ghz, but I figured it out. Might be a small challenge for the novice builder, but nothing worth knocking a star off for.

5 stars. I will definitely purchase this board again for future builds.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Budget Motherboard!, February 18, 2011
By AnotherWindowsBlog (Honolulu, HI USA)
This motherboard is fantastic if you will be putting together a budget computer. Are there cheaper one's out there? Of course there are. But I took the chance to go with Gigabyte since I have heard a lot of good stuff about them so I decided to go with this one. I'm pairing this with an Intel E5500 on a Windows 7 Professional system and everything so far has been rock solid. The on-board VGA saves me money as well since I don't have to purchase and install a third-party video card. The motherboard features Gigabyte's patented dual-BIOS. You have the main BIOS and you have a backup BIOS in case something happens to the main one. I hope I never have to use this feature but it's good to know about this nonetheless.

One error I made due to incomplete research is that I thought this motherboard model supported the ability for you to charge your iPhone even when the computer is off. It turns out that feature requires a dedicated On/Off USB header and that is available only on certain models. However, I did learn that I could flash the BIOS to the newest version and install their simple On/Off driver from their website to enable that feature. While I'm still not able to charge my iPhone when the computer is off, I am able to maintain a charge to my iPhone if I simply connect it to the computer while it is turned on first. If I then turn off or hibernate my computer, the charge is still there. The only drawback is that I have to have turned on the computer first. However, this error is due to me not researching enough and has nothing to do with the motherboard itself.

I will definitely be purchasing from Gigabyte again.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Warning: MAIN BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR!, September 27, 2011
By H. Werner (Angola, NY)
I have used this motherboard for about a year. Was greated yesterday by the following "Warning: MAIN BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR! Retrieving recovery source from HPA. BIOS Auto-Recovering." It cycled turning itself on and then off inbetween this message. I thought this to be a rare occurrence. I did a search on-line and found 7,820 hits! I have owned at least a dozen or so motherboards. This is the first time something like this has occurred! According to the folks on-line it is either BIOS battery, RAM or eeeeek RMA! I do not believe its the RAM. All these are a hassle and down time. This will be my last gigabyte motherboard. CorkyMoo.com

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Works OK So Far But Spdif cable not included., March 15, 2011
By Steve C (Arizona)
Seems like a good board for the price, I installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 on this and it runs OK but the board has some physical problems. The PC board is pretty thin and bends when the cooling fan is installed on top of the processor so I don't know if it's going to last very long. The 12 volt power connection is located at the top of the board so if you try to use a cabinet that has the power supply at the bottom the cables won't reach. The board only came with an IDE cable and SATA cable, no SPDIF audio cable. There are no SPDIF outputs on the board so the cable has to be purchased extra for an additional $15. Also the manual is pretty detailed when it comes to showing connection points but has no info about error codes or what error causing beeps mean and there's no information at all about what the software on the CD is for. There doesn't seem to be any fan speed or temperature monitoring utility on the CD either.
