Mood lighting, not a true candle replacement, March 30, 2010
By B. Byrne
|
|
I purchased about 3 different versions of these candles to test which ones my wife liked best. Every so often, "Romantic Night" or "bubble bath" is a request I receive. So like most dutiful husbands, I find the candles and lighter. After the soot build up on the walls near the bath, and the sleeping with lit candles incident, I wanted to get a safer and more forgiving option.
Pro's: Turn it on, and get the look without the potential dangers of an open flame. Relatively similar looking to real candles. Just enough light to set the mood with 2 or 3 sets. You can fall asleep and not be concerned that you will cause a fire or damage the nearby objects. For example, these can be place on top of bare wood, electronics, and other places you would never put a real candle.
Con's. Light output/lumens is terrible. If you like the way a real flame can illuminate a nearby wall or plant, this barely casts local light. The flame flicker is just not there. A nightlight with a plastic/wax case. Short battery (which may be our fault) but if this was truly efficient using an LED, you could do this for a year or more. Perhaps this would double the cost, but if it doubled or tripled the light out put and made it last really long, I would pay it.
Get enough of them, and make a display. This makes the wife feel all the key words. "Romantic" "Cozy" "Relaxed" etc.

Very disappointing, January 12, 2010
By a reader (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA)
|
|
I bought two sets of flameless candles at the same time, thinking that I would use them together. However, I am very disappointed in these candles and am returning them to Amazon.
Things I didn't like:
1) It's not obvious from the picture, but these are little bitty candles, only two inches wide. From the picture I thought I was ordering regular-sized pillar candles, which are more like 3-4 inches wide, and much taller, too.
2) The website description says that these are "realistic" and "beautiful." They aren't either of those things.
I was very disappointed.
However, I adore the other flameless candles that I bought at the same time. That set is located here:

Flameless Melted Edge Wax Candles, January 6, 2010
By ana30 (Sacramento, Ca)

These are cute candles they are very simillar to real candles. They have a pinkish/red tab on the bottom that has to be pulled out once the tabs are removed they turn on and have a switch on the bottom to turn on/off. I was though surprised at the size as they seem a little small even though the measurements on the description are acurate. All in all, I am pleased with these candles "especially" with small children I don't have to worry about any dangers as with flame candles. Also when on, they seem to have a brighter glow as opposed to real candles.

Excellent!, September 22, 2009

I removed the plastic tabs from the bottom of each candle, where the battery is.
I moved the switch and Perfect Flickering Candle light.
None of the problems that others mentioned, and it looks great!
I love it, I am very happy with it.
Living in a fire area, I can relax and enjoy my "candles" with out the worry.
Thank you so much for this product.

Depends on your definition of ivory, February 1, 2010
By Lac

I purchased one of these little buggers as a gift and had them shipped straight to the person's house. My were they delighted. The candles are cute, give off a nice glow and are perfect for bedrooms without the fear of tipping them over and dying in a matress fire.
I ordered another set because they were so happy with them and decided to bring them over. Alas, the next set I ordered (even thought it was from the same link and everything) was a different color. These were bright white and not the ivory pictured. I was going to order another set but it's not worth the nine dollars to me to find out if this was a glitch or just poor product dye lots. I'd even order them again for myself if I was just getting one set and not caring if the candles were white or ivory.
Pros:
-cute
-realistic for the most part
-fit nicely into just about any votive or hurricane lamp on account how small they are
-look great on high up wall sconces
-won't catch your house/cat/kids on fire
-Very nice glow in a dark bedroom for mood lighting *wink wink
Cons:
-wow are they tiny! Make sure you're not expecting a normal sized candle
-the batteries are expensive to replace
-the color you order may not be the color you get
-to me, on a low table where you can see inside the candle, the flame looks a little hokey

So so experience with candles, October 12, 2010
By Cougar

|
These candles looked great online and I particularly liked the staggered sizes. I was disappointed that the amount of light put out from the middle candle was very weak. At one point less than a week after I received the light went out completely in the middle candle. After checking out the battery and reinserting it the candle went back on but it looks like it is about to go out. Candles were of a good size and I would be happier with the order if it wasn't for the poor light quality out of the one candle.

Good for the price, March 24, 2009
By M. Kelly (Pittsburgh, PA)

Bought these as a night light for a cabin while camping so we didn't stumble around and wake up our toddler after dark. They have a push button switch on the bottom and the batteries have lasted pretty well. They don't flicker as much as others I have seen, and aren't that bright (but bright enough for my purpose). Grouped together they might be brighter. They are realistic looking, were priced well and are not scented. A pretty good set for the money.

Pleased with Purchase, March 29, 2011
By MargieD

I spent a few days looking at different flameless candles and reading through every product review I could find, before finally purchasing two sets of these flameless pillar candles. I am using them in place of traditional bouquets at my midnight wedding on the beach, and plan on having everyone in the wedding party carry a candle to provide enough ambient light.
On receiving them, I opened one box at a time, pulled all the red tabs off at the bottom, and turned on each candle at a time. The first candle I turned on worked great. I was a little surprised at how orange the light was, but was pleased that it was brighter than other flameless candles I have bought in the past. The second and third candles did not turn on, until I inspected the batteries and found that they had come loose during shipping. I popped them back in and all worked fine. The second set worked just as well as the first. The medium size candles in both sets do not shine quite as bright as the rest, but it is barely noticeable.
I am very pleased with my purchase, and will be buying more sets to fill the rest of my wedding party. I rated this product a four and not a five because of how orange and unrealistic to real candle light color it is, though in pictures it still shows up a nice yellow.

Great gift, August 26, 2010
By chocolateandbooksareme (South Africa)

Gave these to a very fussy friend who 'has everything'. She loves them. All her guests thought they were real and they work. Well worth the money. Great gift for anyone who likes candles on the table or next to the bath. Great for people with naughty kids as well, as they cannot set the house on fire!

Flameless looks great without triggering allergies, July 1, 2010

nice glow, June 25, 2010
By E. Porter (New York)

The candles provide a nice glow. There are 3 candles in the set, all a different height. The material feels similar to wax. The bulb flicker to simulate a candle flame. They won't light up the room, but will add ambiance.

work well for places you can't have real candles, March 19, 2010
By Walker Winterbottom
|

I work as a massage therapist and have clients that are often sensitive to scented candles. The look of candles is very relaxing to them though. These are the perfect solution for a situation like this since you get the look without the scent or soot. If you're in need of something that looks like a candle but are concerned about the safety of having an open flame around, these are also a good solution.
Still prefer a real candle and use those in my home, but for my work situation, these are a great replacement.

Best flameless candles I have tried so far, December 10, 2009
By Jen (New Mexico)
|
|
I have been trying various flameless candles, now that I have a ten-month-old grandbaby in the house, and these are by far the best I have tried. They look real and they are brighter than most flameless candles. Right now they are in a silver bowl filled with pine cones on the fireplace mantle and I don't have to worry about fire! I plan to order more of these, this is a great price for this product.

One Candle Defective - no way to resolve problem, March 29, 2010
By Robert Atchison (Austin, TX United States)
|
|
One of the candles is defective and is missing a battery. I spent two hours trying to find a way to contact Amazon about it. The only thing they seem to say is contact the manufacturer, but I am not even sure about that. I found the company on the web and wrote them, but there is no answer yet. I agree with an earlier reviewer that these are smaller than I expected. The size is right, but the image looks like a larger style of candle than it is.

Defective, December 17, 2009
By Gerald Biasiolli

I purchased as a gift for my granddaughter and paid 2-day shipping so I could give it to her when I drove to visit her (250 Mi) before Christmas. I tested the candles to insure they were operational and the smallest one was defective. Swapping batteries proved that it was a defective device. :-{

Not what they say, August 10, 2009

I previously purchased the same brand candles with remote control. They claim you can use the remote with ANY of their candles...not so with these. Maybe someone from the CO. can give some insight or send the candles that DO work?

Love it!, September 14, 2011

I've never owned a set of flameless candles. I have had three 3 inch wide candle holders in my living room for a long time now and decided to finally invest in a set to complete the holders. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and look of a real candle. The wax was real and the flame flickered to set a relaxing atmosphere in my living room. Batteries were included!

Nice fake candles, June 5, 2011
By Dmitry (Menlo Park, CA, United States)

Didn't realize they were fake candles when I bought them, but I am satisfied, they're nice. In the smallest candle you can see the light bulb so it spoils the perception a little bit, otherwise fine product.

Perfect for the lazy decorator, April 6, 2011
By R. Richardson (South Haven, MI, United States)
|
|
Candles always have been just too much trouble for me - they drip all over the table, they don't always fit in the holders, and then you have to replace them when they burn down. These are PERFECT for a lazy decorator. They look just like candles (they are made of wax, after all!) and they glow pleasingly without all the fuss and mess. I bought a huge supple of batteries, so shouldn't have to replace those anytime soon. I love them!

seemingly real, without the fuss, February 9, 2011
By stellis1

I really liked the quality, shape and flicker of these candles. I needed 4, so I had to order 2 packs. In all six candles, there was one that didn't work. I ordered more batteries seperately, when they come in I'll see if it was a battery issue. But I love the way they look, easy maintenance. I thought the flicker would look idiotic and cheap, but it looks fine.

These candles are tiny!
I chose the white ones to go with my the rest of the interior but the light that comes from the candles is very yellow/orange, it makes the whole candle look yellow-ish.
But they do all work and are cute, just very small.

Great, realistic looking candles!, February 1, 2010
By Rebecca M. Johnson (San Francisco, CA)
|
|
I really like these candles. Smaller than I expected (but I also paid no attention to the published dimensions). They look very realistic (thanks to the real wax) and definitely have a realistic glow and give off a surprising amount of light. The tip of the bulb does show over the edge of the little one, but really, who is looking at your candles that closely? I had them out for a get together and people couldn't tell they were fake until they looked directly down into them! Bonus: my cat can't burn off his whiskers on them! :)

Remember to turn off your candles, November 15, 2009
