3.0 out of 5 stars.  Handy and clever; the small one is much more useful to me, September 23, 2009
By Mainiac (Portland, Maine, USA)
Okay, I do like the little one, which has a lot of tips that can be hard to find. The larger one is less handy as I have more screwdrivers that size. Also, for a small screwdriver, the sturdiness of the small one is fine. The big one doesn't have a good grip for a tool that size and the tips just don't seem to be very high quality. I'm also not impressed that the labels fell off immediately. Not that they're serving any function, but it just screamed cheesy right out of the packaging.

I have multi-tools kicking around the house, including multi-tip screwdrivers with the more standard four tips that you can flip around, and have found them very handy. I like the standard four-tip screwdrivers better than the large screwdriver here. Which means that I don't find the two extra tips to be a major selling point and the other screwdrivers are sturdier and have a better grip.

I don't like that the tips can pop off the end relatively easily. (Especially for the small screwdriver.)

I do think it's an enormously clever gadget. It's just not great.

DON'T TAKE IT APART.
I made this mistake messing around with the big one because it seemed so easy to do, just push those black buttons. I thought I was going to uncover another feature or something. No such luck.

But if you do take it apart, all is not lost; you can actually put it back together:
1. Take all the tips out... you'll put these back in at the end (this was the part that most confused me)
2. You have four other pieces now:
... a. the clear cannister
... b. the black handle
... c. the black inner piece
... d. the little blue button (pop it out for now)
Note that the little blue button (d) goes into a particular place in the black inner piece (c). But do not put it there yet.
3. Take the black handle (b), notch and button-side up, and feed it into the black inner piece so that the place where the blue button will go is on top
4. Now put the blue button back
5. Note that on the black inner piece (c), there's a rotating ring that has the black buttons you pushed to get into this mess. Rotate the ring so that the opening is roughly aligned with the blue button.
6. Put the clear cannister back on so that the blue button is aligned with the tracks and the black buttons will find the holes they are meant to find.
7. Close it all back up. (Yes, you have no tips yet.)
8. Put in a tip. Retract the handle. Rotate. Close it all back up. Repeat till all the tips are in.
9. Don't take it apart again.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Disappointing, September 23, 2009
By Robert S. Tobias (Arlington, VA USA)
I bought these based on the large number of glowing reviews and their being on sale for about half price. For my money (which I got back when I returned them) they did not live up to my expectations.

Here's why I say that:

- The smaller of the two was broken; I couldn't rotate the handle to change bits.

- There is a lot of moving parts loosely rattling around in a plastic shell; I expect the larger screwdriver would also break before long.

- The handles are smooth hard plastic so I wouldn't be able to get a good enough grip to apply any force in turning them. (They're also not all that comfortable to hold.)

- They feel like if I could manage to apply any force then the mostly plastic screwdriver would come apart before I managed to turn the screw.

If you are looking for a "lot of drivers" in one convenient package then I would suggest the Klein 32477 10-in-1 Screwdriver/Nut Driver. It is more durable and you can change the bits just as quickly. (It is missing some of the smaller bits and in exchange you get a couple nut drivers, a couple square bits, a couple torx bits, and a lifetime guarantee.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  These Autoloaders are very handy to keep in a drawer!, September 17, 2009
By Masaki Lee (USA)
I really like both of these screwdrivers. They each have 3 phillips bits and 3 flat bits. They seem to be well made. I purchased this kit in the hopes to replace the separate individual screwdrivers in my tool belt. However I don't think they are sturdy enough for full time construction use.

I wish the handles were of a rubber type or coating to give a better grip. I do like the fact that the bits are held in magnetically and can be changed out. My flat blade screwdriver sometimes serves double duty to pry and chisel things and I wouldn't attempt it with either one of these.

They are made of metal and plastic with the internal mechanism filled and sealed with a white grease. The upper housing is clear and you can see the bits thru it although I wonder how long it will remain transparent with wear and tear and scratches. I keep mine in a drawer near the kitchen for around the house use. They are neat. I am going to try putting other type bits in them since I also use some other type bits around the house like allen and torx.

I am happy with the purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Call it a "3", September 27, 2009
By I'm not bad, I 'm just drawn that way (Butte Creek Canyon, Ca United States)
What is it with the American fascination with "automatic"? From dishwashers to transmissions to firearms, "manual" is just so....old world.

So how about screwdrivers? Hard to improve on the concept, but there are many products out there counting on you to not believe that.

This is one of them. I have no grudge against gadgets; quite the contrary. But as a life-long professional tool wielding sort of person, a device like this is close to being unnecessary. I think using one of these in front of a customer would look like, "Well, I really didn't know what bit I'm gonna need, so I brought 'em all". "Unprofessional", that's the word I was looking for. Except- and it's important to note- it could be a lifesaver stuffed into a pocket when facing the unknown- a crawlspace, a tight attic. Somehow, though, I have managed a lifetime of doing things like that without one. It is also worth noting that despite my affinity for screwdrivers, about 90% of my work involving screws will see me using a power driver of some kind.

But I have one of these autoloaders. Three, actually, and must share what benefits there are to be had.

This is a good glovebox tool. Or for me, even in the toolbag as a last resort- if nothing else, it's a great emergency driver tip holder.

It works quite well, the only complaint of manufacture I had when it arrived was both of the labels were curling off the handles, leading me to believe they were applied in haste, and this tool is frequently re-branded. I know I have seen it offered under a house brand name at the likes of Restoration Hardware, so that makes sense. KR tools is a fairly well-known workman-like big-box autopart store brand, but you have to look carefully to see their name here.

It's fun to play with, to jack the various bits around into position and then- you'll be driving a slotted screw when suddenly- "hey, I need a #2 Philips! Presto! Without having to bend over and pick one up!"

On the other hand, the junior member of the set is actually quite handy, since fine screwdriver sets invariably break out of their case and scatter. Here we have 6 small tips instantly at your disposal- unfortunately, none down to an eyeglass-tightening size, but close.

While it's a convenient way to have these small bits always instantly at your command, it should be noted the screws requiring such tips are frequently located at the bottom of the well in a plastic case- the driver's ¼" shank is far to thick to reach screws that are recessed more than the length of the tip, generally ¾"

The primate in me almost immediately found the two lock tabs that allow the mechanism to come apart, the handle pulls out the rear, the magazine falls out, the spring detent will pop out and all the bits will fall to the floor and roll away. It's not difficult to reassemble, but I suggest avoiding the need.

One of the more practical application of this device for someone whose spare collection of leftover screwdrivers rivals the local Sears store- I found it's an excellent way to store and use obscure bits like Allen, Robertson and Torx- all the oddballs in one place, where they are easy to spot.

Like they used to say, "an excellent stocking stuffer"- five stars for a clever idea, construction and function; one star for being silly and unnecessary. Call it three.

I've got 7 of these for presents. One came broken out of the box, rest of those are really bad quality. When it turn around to change the bits its fill like falling apart.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Klein is better, these guys wont be around long, January 4, 2010
By Developed a $6 OBD1 Handheld in 1986 (Milwaukee WI)
I'm an electrician, and have only recently been convinced a multi-purpose tool should be used for anything. I use Klein 10-in-1 and 11-in-1 screwdrivers, which are warrantied forever and can be traded in at Sears, Home Depot, Menard's, Lowes, and Ace hardware.

I'd like to see how this flimsy screwdriver, with moving PLASTIC parts will hold up. my Klein is chrome plated steel with hardened bits. It also has torx, square drive, 3 nut drive sizes, 2 philips and 2 regular. This piece of junk? You can TELL its made in China. The only weight to it is in the lead used in the plastic in recycled childrens toys made in China, too.

Name one gadget company that is still around from even a few years ago. Salad Shooter, Spacebags, Clothes Shaver, Pet Rock (now reborn).

Good luck using this more than twice. The price isnt even justifiable, my KLEIN is CHEAPER even at RETAIL!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  very handy around the house, March 8, 2009
By bgnoz (Martinez, GA United States)
This screwdriver is unique in that the bits are always sealed inside... they're selected through an automatic process (pull the handle, turn to select the bit, push the handle back) that doesn't require the device to be opened, so the bits don't get lost.

We loved it. So did a repair crew that did some work for us and helped themselves to the driver. We've been looking everywhere for a replacement, and this two-pack is perfect: one for us, one for the next repair crew!

Incidentally, this is best used for household chores. It's durable enough to stand up to normal household use, but not abuse. In addition, the handle is bulky and relatively short, which gets in the way during more challenging tasks.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  You get what you pay for, January 4, 2010
By Big men drive Mini cars (Orlando, Fl)
I bought these screw drivers as a Christmas gift for my Father-in-law who is in the service industry. I figured this would free up some room in his tool box. After receiving them, I changed my mind. He would have thought I had gotten them at Dollar general or the flea market. They are not sturdy feeling and the bits come out too easily. That being said, it is convienent having all of the bits handy, but NOT worth the price. What did we do with them? We gave them to the kids as "Their screw drivers so they will leave my Craftsmen tools alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I love it!, August 12, 2009
By Shiris (San Jose, CA USA)
I always losing screwdrivers because there's too many for me to take care of (between the small room and people borrowing them). I love this set because it's like 12 screwdrivers in only 2 screwdrivers.

With only 2 of these I can just put it under my bed and use it whenever I need it.

Have used it on the PS3 and my SONY TV and it gave me no issues. Love the switching, worked great!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great screwdriver set for small tool bag or vehicle, October 15, 2009
By W. L. Holder (Phoenix, AZ, USA)
This is a perfect screwdriver set for a kitchen drawer, glove compartment of a car, or small tool bag. Smaller size than a traditional set, plus helps keep you from losing the bits all the time like I usually do.

This is NOT an industrial or professional screwdriver set. If you use screwdrivers at work, this probably isnt for you. Then again, if you use them professionally, you already know that.

Great for typical around the house uses, or quick fixes. Your not going to want to rebuild a car with this being your main screwdriver though.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Ideal set of screwdrivers to have nearby for quick fixes, October 3, 2009
By slaphappy
This is an ideal set of screwdrivers to keep handy in a kitchen drawer. They are well made, easy to use, and each has 3 flat and 3 Philips bits. The handles are comfortable but only for small, quick jobs. They don't have grooved or squishy grips, and they don't seem to be intended for heavy duty jobs.

However, I use them for quick tightening of a cabinet hinge, a loose lightswitch plate, a toy that needs batteries, and a variety of similar situations. The handles are a bit big, and for a job in a small, awkward location, I have to rummage through my husband's toolbox to find the perfect sized screwdriver for the job. But, most of the time when I need a screwdriver, one of these does the job. Super convenient to have the bits stored in the unit! Great to keep in a car, too.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Looked cool, but..., December 31, 2009
By You Wanna Know (MO USA)
I really wanted this to work as the demo video showed. This seemed like it would be great for my gadget loving hubby but with the first pull on the small handle to change the tip, the bottom pulled right off. I was so disappointed. Amazon did send out a replacement immediately, so that was nice, but I have my doubts that this next one will last much longer. Great concept, just cheaply made.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Avoid this and don't waste your money!, February 1, 2010
By A. Yu
It was an interesting idea but pull construction and not sufficient testing.

The smaller one broke after a week. I pulled the handle out and was not able to re-insert it back. Apparently it got separately easily (and unconsciously) while I was pulling the handle out to change bit. I suspect the big one will behave similarly at some point. This is all molded plastic, I tried for an hour and couldn't reinsert the handle back together, it also distracted me from my intended task. The handle slides out easily and does not give a feel of a good strong grip.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Useful- Until it jammed permanently, November 19, 2009
By jhcpa (NY)
UPDATE: 2/18/10

After using the product a few times, one of the bits has become jammed and has rendered the entire screwdriver unusable. I may not be overly mechanical, but I've never had a good old fashioned screwdriver break on me. In the future those are the one's I'll stick with, rather than the fancy all in one gadgets.

Previous Review- November 2009
This tool is incredibly useful. However, my main criticism is that it does not have any sort of lock to keep the bit in place. I've had the bit that is on the tip of the device and being used fall out. The storage of the other bits is fine, but the bit you are using is not particularly secure.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very Versatile, October 10, 2009
By Aspiring Photographer (MI United States)
Upon initial examination of these I was a bit concerned considering the little logo sticker was pealing off of both of them and they were a little cheap looking, but then after I pealed off the sticker and took them out of the package, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they actually work. Basically there are 3 Phillips and 3 flat head bits in each, the smaller one has smaller bits that could be used for glasses, computers, or other smaller fixes, and the larger one has regular and large size bits that are well suited for day-to-day things. Having the turn and load system is very convenient, so that you have many different bits with you at once and don't have to go searching for a different screw driver all the time. It is magnetized, so it holds the screw in place while you get it started which is nice. You can also hold the blue hex shaped collar while you turn the driver to make tightening or loosening easier. Another nice thing is that these are standard size bits, so if you have some favorites that you use often, you can just load those into the driver and have 6 of your most used bits in one easy to use tool. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of the somewhat cheap feel and look to these, I don't know if that will cause problems or not, but as far as having 6 tools in 1 and the overall design I really like these, so if you are always looking for a different screw driver and would like to have an easy way to keep a bunch of tools in one place, this is a nice option.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap bits diminish the value, January 5, 2010
By Max (Chicago, IL USA)
The autoloader feature works great on both screwdrivers. As long as I properly align the selected bit, nothing gets stuck. The magnets are pretty strong on mine, so I don't see any bits flying out.
However, the bits themselves are rather cheap. Don't expect these to last long on the precision screwdriver.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Small one broke already...., December 3, 2009
By Lynn
I've only used this set twice. However, it's been tested about 3 times by family members because they like changing the tips. The small screwdriver broke; the handle won't turn. After shaking, two tips flew out across the room. We shook it thinking maybe a tip was at an odd angle and needed straightened out. First, one tip flew out; another shaking caused the 2nd tip to fly out. I contacted customer service and was told to return the broken screwdriver and I'd be sent a new one. Now I have to decide if it's worth spending money on shipping. I like the screwdrivers and was considering buying a few for gifts this year. I'm holding off on any more purchases; I want to find out if the bigger one is going to break just as easily.

hmmm, I wonder if the tips flying out could be considered a hazard.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  innovative storage system, December 2, 2009
By Eriocaulon (United States)
I have a bunch of screwdriver sets--the kind with the bits sitting around the handle. Unfortunately, because of that storage design, I keep losing bits. I have a power screwdriver with bits in a separate storage container, but don't use that as much because of the inconvenience.

I got an autoloader set from Amazon to try out. It comes with a lot of bit, more than the unit can actually store. You can feed in whichever of those tips you want and store the rest away. The mechanism for storage is flawless and rather ingenious. The unit itself is sturdy enough for hand driving although a rubberized grip may be a little better. I definitely think the autoloader is worthwhile to have around the house and really minimizes lost bits! I am also glad this unit is not racheting! you don't need a racheting screwdriver for crying out loud!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice if you are prone to losing screwdriver bits, October 25, 2009
By Otis Maxwell (Saratoga Springs, NY)
What you get: two bulky screwdriver handles, each housing six bits which you can change out by extending the bit loader, rotating it, then pushing it back into the handle. In my household this will replace several "combo" screwdriver gadgets with removable bits that lived in sockets on the side or bottom of or inside the handle until they, one by one, left home. Because the bits seem fairly difficult to pry loose (I haven't asked my boys to try this experiment but I know they will), it earns a place in the kitchen tool drawer.

Like the other combo screwdrivers, the bulky handle is a tradeoff that means you can't use it in tight places. Also while the quality of the bits seems good, the build overall is a bit flimsy. On the sample I received one of the labels on the handle was falling off; this has nothing to do with functionality but it says something about quality control. Also, a design misstep: it would have been just as easy to use matte finish as clear material to house the bits and then it would be much easier to see and select the one you want.

I got this to review without seeing it online, so I made a guess as to the price and my guess was $14.95. Amazon's $30 price is way too high for what you get and the $60 "list" is a joke.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice addition to the tool collection, October 15, 2009
By Omegafiler (Austin, TX)
This is a handy tool to keep around the house, in the garage, or in the kitchen drawer. Thanks to it's multiple bits in the screwdriver, it'll work with most household chores. Since you also have 2 different size screw drivers, there is a good chance one of them will fit the job.

However, there are a few negatives. First of all, I normally use 2 hands to push down when screwing or unscrewing things. Because of the way it's designed and how you change bits, this can cause the handle to push outward (as if you are changing bits). This makes it a little trick to get a good grip on the screw driver.

The small one also decided to fall apart one day when I was opening it. But after several minutes of figuring out how it worked, I was able to easily put it back together again. So far, it seems to be staying in one piece. It looks like there is this mysterious "black button" that you can push to disassemble the unit. Not sure why you'd want to though. Especially since you can easily change bits without taking it apart. They are just held in by a magnet once in use.

I also found the bits too "pointy" for use with small screws such as what you'd find in a notebook or other small electronics. The size is just right, but it's too pointy to fit the screw head. You risk stripping the screw. Just something to keep in mind, depending on what you are purchasing it for.

Pros:
* Multiple bits are easily changed and stored in the unit
* 2 size screw drivers for various tasks
* Inexpensive consider what you get

Cons:
* Magnetic bits can fall out or get stuck in whatever you are screwing.
* Odd disassembly button (you won't see it when in use, just when changing bits).
* Bits not suited for smaller screws
* Bit changing mechanism easily "engaged" while in use.

Overall, considering it's "all-in-one" feature, it's a nice little tool. But there are much better single-purpose screw drivers out there that do a better job.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  12 SCREWDRIVERS IN 1 SET, September 27, 2009
By Jerry H. Bond
If all of your repairs and creations are done at a fully stocked workbench, you probably don't need this tool. However, if you're like me, the need for a screwdriver seems to pop up every place in the world except my workbench. Search Multi-Bit Screwdrivers on Amazon.Com. I have most of them. Some have hollow handles filled with loose bits. The entire assortment must be dumped out to find the bit you need. Getting them all to fit back into the handle is like trying to squeeze into the white jacket you wore to your high school prom. Others have bits attached around the handle which vanish quicker than socks in a clothes dryer. Some ratchet. Some are hex-bit handles (straight and T) with over a hundred bits stored in racks which are not practical for any place except a workbench. These are all gadget tools and I love gadget tools. No car, truck or ATV should be without a tool kit and compact, mobile tool kits are easy to assemble. Multi-function tools make this job easier. Years ago I put together a small tool bag in every car in our family. Within a year, each kit weighed more than the spare tire and the screw jack combined. Assorted sizes of screwdrivers are 2 for a buck at the dollar store, but try and find a tiny PH-000 Phillips screwdriver in a utility drawer or a bag of tools when you need it fast. This KR Tools Autoloader screwdriver works for me. This one set replaces 12 screwdrivers. There is only one bit exposed at a time and it can be retracted to keep it from being lost. The handle is clear around the bits making it easy to identify the bit you need. I won't go into instructions here because it is so simple a monkey can operate it. There are hundreds of Multi-tools available with belt pouches. These are my favorite, but not everybody enjoys walking around looking like a gun fighter or Larry the Cable Guy. A few compact and easily accessible tool kits stored in strategic locations might work better for some.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Scores Big for Cleverness., September 25, 2009
By Nuknuk (Springfield, VA United States)
A very ingenious and clever idea put on a simple device - the screwdriver. You are provided multiple tips, and selecting the right tip has never been easier. What you do is pull the handle to expose the tips which are visible trhough the transparent inner barrel. You select the right tip by rotating the barrel until it aligns with the blue indicator. Push back the barrel and the selected tip will come out to take the place of whatever tip you currently have. You don't even need to touch the tips with your fingers. In turn, the other tip will take the place of the new tip inside the barrel. For me, I am excited that I will no longer lose any tips. The tip is magnetically held, and can still be pulled from the driver (but there is no reason to).

And yes you can store with all of the bits inside the handle. Pull the handle, then jolt it on your palm with the end of the handle first. When you push the handle back, bit is completely retracted in the barrel. Cool.

With this package, you get a regular size screwdriver and a smaller one for smaller screws. They are lighter than it looks.

Pros:
- Convenience
- Time saving
- Rubberized grip

Cons:
- It does not include star tips or allen keys (which is understandable). Probably they can make one specially made for those special tips.
- It does not feel like solidly built. The product name tag is a sticker that is already peeling off from the handle.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not worth it, December 13, 2009
By D. Dixon
I bought one and returned it.

The large "classic" screwdriver's handle is too big - both in diameter and length - and difficult to get good purchase on: it's just plain uncomfortable. I suppose they were trying to always show the label, but it's amusing to me that all of the product pictures show it being used with two hands. The shaft is too short. I have several multi-function screwdrivers and this one was the most expensive and the worst to use. It does change bits quicker than any of the others.

The precision screwdriver doesn't include many of the smallest bits.

A great screwdriver set for the office, January 16, 2010
By AreYouKidding?
I admit I'm a computer-gaming geek. I'm always searching for a screwdriver in the office so I can quickly crack open the case and fiddle around with something in my PC. This set is handy, comfortable and easy to use and I don't need to run downstairs to grab something out of the toolbox.

Two small issues:

1) The labels peeled off after about a week.
2) The smaller screwdriver uses a non-standard bit size. I'm not sure where I'd go for replacement bits if I ever lose one or wear one out.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great combination-driver set, January 13, 2010
By George Zacharias (Bellevue, WA)
I absolutely love these. I don't do any heavy-duty work, I just needed some screwdrivers for around the house. I've had several sets before, but I tend to lose the most-needed sizes. They take up space and I end up forgetting to put them back in the toolbox and eventually they get lost somewhere. Me being absentminded doesn't help either (I've once found my keys inside the refrigerator after searching for a couple of hours).

Regular drivers either take up a lot of space, or have small bits that get lost very quickly. This one solves both problems.

Pros:
- Bits stored inside the driver itself, no chance of them getting lost
- Takes up less space than conventional single driver-multiple bit design, or the individual separate screwdriver design.
- The clicks sound cool and my toddler likes to hear it and see me click around. I like the turning and clicking action as well.

Cons:
- The labels came off immediately, not very well put on. This doesn't speak too highly about the build quality.
- The bits can come off if you pull, sometimes too easily.
- The bits aren't fit all that well. It's adequate for normal purposes but if you apply more force, I can see them slant sideways (the handle's axis and the bit's axis are not the same, they're at an angle.

Overall I love this because I always can find it at its place and there are no small bits or individual drivers that can get lost.

I love the convenience of being able to quickly change the tip. It works great, never gets jammed. The price seems to fluctuate a lot here on Amazon. I bought mine when it was a lightning deal for only $16.99. That was a little over a year ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  This is a very useful little tool!, September 26, 2009
By A. Bennett
I love the tiny flat and phillips heads that are installed directly into this screwdriver set. I have had a small shelf that I wanted to take down for some time now but I could not find my screwdrivers with the single tiny heads any where. Once these arrived I immediately dialed in the correct size head and .....zip....the shelf was easily removed without damaging the wall. This set will be placed in one of my kitchen drawers for quick and easy access for all my little jobs around the house. I find them to be excellent for removal of tiny screws.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love, love, LOVE this product!, September 25, 2009
By *rose* (USA)
This works great and it's so easy to use!

I have a product similar to this one but the screwdriver bits are stored on the outside in a rubber holder. The bits are easy to lose and I've lost about half of them. They just fall out of the rubber holder.

THIS product is wonderful! No more missing bits and I don't have to worry how I handle it or where I store it. All the screwdriver bits are safe and secure INSIDE. And there isn't anything gooey inside; it's just a mechanical screwdriver that loads the bits. You can see the bits through the plastic and choose the size and type you need.

------> Only thing missing; there is no ratcheting function (did I spell that correctly?). Also, I don't think this is a product for a professional handyman. This is more for around the house, or in a place of business for light to medium use. Which describes me! So, I'm happy.

This 2-pack is great because I can keep one in my car and one at home. It's so frustrating when I need a screwdriver and I can't locate the type or size I need. Anything that helps me get straight to a project and relieves any frustration for me is exciting! I love my new screwdrivers!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Great concept, not so great quality., September 24, 2009
By Jay Riemenschneider (Roswell, GA United States)
What a fantastic concept! I wish Snap-On had the same thing because I would love to see what a quality product with this design would be like. I purchased one of the first ratcheting screwdrivers from Snap-On in the early 80s and it has served me well for all these years as my main and favorite manual driver. The part that got old was having to open the end cap and dump out the various tips to find the right one. Then fumble to get them all back in and the cap back on before proceeding.

Then this invention comes along and I think its going to be a replacement for me only to find that the tips are cheap and the selection action is quite clunky. It is also very hard to actually see the tip you are trying to load because the clear plastic is distorted. This could be due to crummy injection molding the angles all the way around the handle. Not bad for light duty work.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Leave No Screw Left Unturned, September 23, 2009
By Technology Guy
I've got something of a collection of multi-screwdrivers and these KR Tools Autoloader screwdrivers are actually one of the nicer sets I've picked up. Obviously not for heavy duty use but still fairly sturdy and you can't beat having 6 bits available in each. Changing bits is as easy as pulling back the handle, twisting to get the bit you want in the - bits are visible through a clear sleeve - and sliding the handle back in place. Very handy -- I'm sold.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Multi-bit Screwdriver, September 22, 2009
By fly fisher (New Mexico)
These screwdrivers are amazing! No more fumbling with or dropping bits. They all stay confined in the handle until you choose them with a twist and a click. The handles aren't too big to get into small spaces, but they fit the hand quite well. I like my set well enough that I've ordered more sets for the shop. I highly recommend them for anyone that wants a selection of blades without a drawer full of screwdrivers to sort through or carry.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Convenience With Compromise, September 22, 2009
By techdad review (San Francisco Bay Area)
I own a plethora of multi-bit screwdrivers. The KR Tools Autoloader screwdriver promises to solve the minor annoyance of swapping out bits, so I gave it a try. It delivers, but with compromise.

The KR Tools Autoloader multi-bit screwdriver is very popular by any measure. It features a bit loading system that allows you to select your bit without having to fuss with a bundle of bits, allowing you to quickly switch between the 3 Phillips and 3 slotted bits. Since the bits are standard sized, you can always insert other bits if you have others you use readily. That way, you can carry your 6 most used bits in the Autoloader. The Autoloader introduces an innovative new technology for screwdrivers. Add magnetic bits and the Autoloader threatens to be everyone's favorite screwdriver. Just not mine.

I really only have one problem with the Autoloader. The handle. It is so large, hard to grip, and unergonomic, that I can't get past it. I would not trade my Craftsman multi-bit ratcheting driver, IRWIN 9-in-1 Multi-Tool Screwdriver, or Husky for the Autoloader. The Autoloader is useful, I admit, but I would rather give up a little convenience for a better quality, ergonomic screwdriver.

A lot of people really like the Autoloader's feature and are willing to overlook the lack of ergonomics. My dad for instance. He used to own a hardware store and loves tools like my kids love candy. He came over to visit his grandkids and ended up stealing my classic Autoloader from me. I do like the precision Autoloader however, because it is smaller and saves me from having to mess with my 6 individual precision screwdriver set. Luckily, it is sold separately from this set. Sears happens to sell the classic Autloader, rebadged as a Craftsman but in red and with a T6 Torx bit and one less Phillips bit.

The Autoloader is a good screwdriver because of the quick bit change technology. If not for this feature however, it would be a very average, at best, screwdriver. If they update the Autoloader with a new handle/grip and incorporate a ratcheting mechanism, I will try it again. My smaller hands require a more ergonomic handle and thus, the Autoloader will not replace my other multi-bit screwdrivers. For some, like my dad however, it is a neat tool they wish they had invented.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cleaver high quality 'gadget'., November 5, 2009
By J. Teasley (Spring Lake, New Jersey)
I have bought hundreds of screwdrivers and who would have thought they would come up with such a cleaver new concept.

Each of the drivers has six different heads, three slotted, three Phillips. The smaller driver has a good range, of small heads so you would be able to put a lot of torque on the screw. The larger driver has a nice range of heads but you will only be able to use the driver with your hand. It's not built for prying off paint can lids or putting a crescent wrench on the handle for extra power.

I love this item... my kid brother's Christmas gift is done.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Very convenient, but only for light duty jobs., October 1, 2009
By jwangamazon (San Jose, CA)
This is a two-piece handy set of screwdrivers. It does not feel like a solidly built.
The handle is smooth hard plastic and you won't be able to have a good grip to apply good force in turning them.
They are quite some moving parts loosely held in a plastic shell with no rubber protection.
And it feels like I could apply any torque to break the mostly plastic screwdriver before turnning the screw.
I expect the larger screwdriver would break befor long. Also, any dropping could just break it.
The fact that so many bits are revolving around a central shaft menas this item is thicker than ordinary screwdrivers.
The magnetic bits make it easier to hold on the screws while using. But I don't like that the tips can pop off the end relatively easily.

In summary, this is best used for household chores. They are perfect for small jobs where you need more than one bit, especially if you are up on a ladder. It's handle is bulky and relatively short, which gets in the way during more challending tasks. But they are no match for a good driver/drill.

I had a similar product from Craftsman for a while now and use it all the time. This is great because it also includes the jewelers tools in an all-in-one tool as well. I would recommend it to anyone!. You can also switch out any of the bits for standard short screwdriver bits so you could have a torqx if you wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cool gadget, June 14, 2011
By R. W. Stern (Michigan)
I love screwdrivers that can change bits for easy jobs around the house. I keep one in upstairs and one on the main floor so that if I have to tighten something or open a battery case I have one handy. For this kind of use, this screwdriver is the best! One doesn't even have to open the top to get the right bit. Just pull, turn, and push. No losing the bits on the floor and having to crawl around looking for them. I'm keeping one set for us, and sending another to a nephew that is graduating and going to college. It's a nice way to have several screwdrivers without sacrificing lots of space to store them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Highly Recommend it for what it is., May 25, 2011
By AgentC (SC)
As a PC/HT installer I find these extremely handy for what they are.
If you are looking for a minimal amount of hardware w/ maximum effectiveness these are for you.

Obviously you shouldn't be prying w/ these and they aren't going to break loose rusted screws.

I needed an easy way to carry a large variety of bits w/ a minimal footprint in my tool kit.

These fit nicely in my bag and I even swapped out a few of the less useful bits for me w/ some security bits I need regularly.

I've since ordered a dozen extra kits for distribution to my field techs.

"The tool you have with you beats anything you have back in the office" - Me.

i bought it because i liked how it was harder to lose the bits. it works well and would suggest it. only problems are that it is weak (as would be expected) i wouldn't bring it to a job site. the other problem is that you can still take the bits out. if you have someone in your home (we all do) that likes to take apart things and lose the parts that's a problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very handy!, December 1, 2010
By Chad Myers (Atlanta, GA)
Interesting twist on storing the bits in the handle and it works reasonably well. I haven't tried swapping out the bits in either of them so my comments are solely on the screwdrivers as they were delivered.

Minor complaints:
- The autoloader sticker did pop off within a couple weeks of minimal usage. Thankfully it left no residue behind, so I now have a nice unlabeled pair of screwdrivers.
- Little difficult to determine what size a bit is. Partly because it may not be on the visible portion of the bit, partly because the clear body has a bit of distortion when viewing inside the bit chambers.
- Little fiddly to determine where the handle loading mechanism is at. It's only a small black triangle on a black handle, it doesn't stick out much. Not hard, just takes a few seconds.

Useful info:
One of the philips head bits in the smaller screwdriver fits the MacBook Pro case screws if you're trying to find a small enough philips head screwdriver.

These aren't necessarily my first choice when I'm looking for a screwdriver. I already have a general purpose favorite that these aren't going to replace. However, if I'm not near my favorite these are usually my next choice. That means I have a pretty good opinion of them and do recommend them.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Handy Set For Car or Kitchen, September 24, 2009
By Lemon
This is a two piece very handy set of screwdrivers, with multiple bits built into the handles so you have just the right attachment when you need it. I particularly like the smaller precision screwdriver, as I tend to find applications for smaller screwdrivers but don't have them around. While these are great to keep around the house, they are pretty light duty, so I would not buy them for anything other than occassional usage.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Where have you been all my life?, September 24, 2009
By ScOObydoo (USA)
I'm one of those people the screwdriver and drill bit industry makes money off - when I'm doing a project, I always lose at least one or two bits, and that means I go through several bit sets each year. The Autoloader screwdriver is exactly what I need to stop losing bits.

I'll admit that I was a little hesitant when I ordered these - I've seen fairly similar products in the past, and they all disappointed me. The Autoloader is different - it actually works, and it does this in a very impressive package.

Picking a bit is simple - pull the handle forward, rotate to the bit you want, and push the handle back. That really is all there is to it. I can't comment on how well it does on REALLY tough screws, but everything I threw at it didn't deter the Autoloader. The product even has a rotating grip at the front of the handle.

I am very impressed with this thing - the price is a little on the high side, and unless you have a lot of light, you'll have a tough time finding the right bit, but other than that, this is a must have in your toolbox.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Keeps your bits all in one place..., September 24, 2009
By Larry F. Rogers (Aplace, MA USA)
I am prone to losing my screwdriver bits. With these, all I need do is find the screwdriver and the bit is automaticvally there. There is a good selection and the drivers work quite well.

They have 3 phillips bits and 3 flat bits.

They are no match for a good power driver/drill, but they work great in a pinch or where a drill/power driver can't. And you never lose your bits, well, so long as you don't lose the screwdriver.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great, handy but how sturdy...?, September 22, 2009
By Vynrod (USA)
As with other reviewers I find these auto-loading screwdrivers to be incredibly useful around the house. The method to change the bits from one of the 6 inside is supremely easy - slide the outer handle down, rotate to the correct bit then push back up. Really simple and handy.

Of course, the fact that so many bits are revolving around a central shaft means the item is thicker than ordinary screw drivers, plus I'm not convinced these would stand up to frequent hardcore use in any sort of construction environment be it amateur or professional. Given that they're entirely plastic with no rubber protection also means that dropping them could be the last time they work (haven't tried that yet!). Another thing to note is that you can "try-before-you-buy" loading a bit with the drivers still in their original packaging. This means the product you get may have been through many test reloads before it even gets to you, possibly reducing their lifespan. A final caveat is that they're magnetized so don't use them for any sort of electronic or computer work - again reducing their usefulness.

As I said though, great for use around the house and whilst they won't replace your current driver collection anytime soon, they're perfect for that small job where you need more than one bit (especially if you're up a ladder!).

These are awesome. Took me a second to figure out just how they work (real men dont read directions). You pull down on the handle and it works kind of like a pump shotgun. You jack it down and twist to the bits that are revealed in the clear under handle housing and jack it back up and the bit pops up ready to use. No more fiddling with bits in the handle and dropping them and loosing them. I am so glad I have these I cant wait to show them off. I know that sounds silly but these are really cool.

I must admit I use the bigger one more than the smaller one but they are the only screwdrivers I use for the last year. If someone in my house uses them they know they better return them to the tool box after use so I can always find them. They quickly change from regular to phillips (multiple sizes 1, 2 or 3). I cannot say enough good about this purchase.
