3.0 out of 5 stars.  disappointed, July 22, 2009
By new mom
I purchased two of these "lunch box duo" systems for my preschooler's lunches, and I bought two of the "Oval Stainless Steel Systems" sold by another company. I wanted to avoid dangers of plastics as much as possible. I did not know which I would like more and which would work better for my needs.

Comparison:
Both arrived at the same time. However, I prefer the "oval stainless steel system" to the "lunch box duo" hands down. I won't boast about the other one in this review because that's tacky. I will just simply point out what I liked and didn't like about the duo.

Postive:
Duo arrived on time.
Lid fits well
$5.00 cheeper than the oval stainless steel system.

Negative:
The compartments are small and since they are fixed, it's limiting.
The tack welding on the divider created rough points on the ouside of the container. Yikes!
Shallow dish.

The tack welding issue is my biggest complaint and is prompting me to return it and give it 3 stars. I don' think the rough points would cut my daughter, but it's terrible that the steel is so thin that when they welded in the divider it created rough bumps on the outside. I worry about the tacking coming loose and or getting work. Also, It appears as if food could get lodged under the divider inbetween the tack welding. I am keeping the other product and returning this one. : (

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fantastic Procuct and Responsible Company, December 17, 2009
By bayareakirk (Bay Area, CA)
Product Summary:
Good size to secure lunch and snacks.
Easy to open and close - yet secure.
Easy to clean.
No more plastic or disposable zip-locks.
Great company.

We ordered two, with and without the divider. We use both daily for our daughter's lunch. I usually put 1/2-2/3 of a sandwich in the one with no divider and then add a bit of fruit too. In the divided lunchbot (DUO) I'll put a vegetable in one half and crackers of fruit or desert or something in the other half. We stack them in her lunchbox and there is still room for a bottle of water.

I ordered both direct from Lunchbots.com. We started losing paint of both lids in less than 2 months. I wrote lunchbots of the problem and they immediately replied that the paint should be much more durable but that a small batch with defective paint was known about. They immediately mailed me two new lids and an extra gift. There's not enough companies still listening to their customers and taking care of problems. Thank you Lunchbots!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for "adult" lunches, December 29, 2010
By M. Karazim (Lansing, MI)
In search of non-plastic reusable lunch options, I first tried Snack Taxi bags with velcro closures. Snack Taxis only hold so much, and my carrot sticks would be dried out by lunch time, not to mention the fact that if my sandwich wasn't guarded like Fort Knox (we're talking not even keeping it inside the lunch bag) it would be totally smooshed and flat and the bag lent it a funny taste. I decided to try these LunchBots. At first all they had were the ones with the colored lids, and although those are totally cute, they scream KID! to me. I wanted something inconspicuous. When I saw these I just had to get them. I take a lot of food to work every day; breakfast and lunch for a girl with a healthy appetite. I needed some good-sized containers that were lightweight and easy to wash. I am trying to avoid plastic as much as possible, and these paired with the airtight Pyrex 6021224 Storage 10-Piece Set, Clear with Blue Lids (BPA-free) seem to be a great option. Pyrex is heavy and you don't want a lunch bag full of it unless you're a pack mule, so using those for things like yogurt and applesauce and using these for the sandwich and crackers is a perfect combo. These are unbreakable, another plus.

I purchased the Picnic Plus Savoy Insulated Lunch Tote, Green Paisley and the LunchBots Uno and Duo in the plain stainless steel. I was curious how much room would be left in the bag after putting in the two LunchBots. They fit together in the bottom of the picnic plus stacked on top of each other, with room on the side for a cup of yogurt and something else small. They also fit in the top part of the bag stacked on top of each other. So really, you could put four of these in the bag and still have room for a can of soda on the bottom. See pictures above.

A sandwich made with a standard-sized loaf of bread fits in the Uno just fine, as does a croissant or a large bagel. There is room in Uno for a small salad or leftover lasagna, a generous portion. The Duo is the Uno cut in half, and is roomy enough for things like deviled eggs on one side and pickles on another. Or you could put crackers on one side and nuts or trail mix on the other. The point is that Duo holds two adult-sized side dishes or snacks just fine. You aren't going to go hungry, even if you eat a lot like I do. Or, for smaller appetites, you could potentially pack half a sandwich in one side of Duo and some pretzels or chips in the other. The possibilities are endless! One thing to keep in mind when packing two things in Duo, the flavors leaching and the moisture factor. If you pack crackers in one side and something moist, such as apple slices in the other, you may find yourself with soggy crackers come lunch time. Or, if you pack deviled eggs with pretzels you might have egg-flavored pretzels. Just a thought.

The only thing I have found to be mildly annoying is that the lids for my Uno and Duo don't seem to be interchangeable, even though they look the same. This is where the colored lids might actually come in handy. I think the dimensions of these plain containers are slightly different than those of the Lunchbots with the colored lids. Maybe a sandwich wouldn't fit as well in the others? I think these are more square where the others are more rounded.

Overall, these are great products that hold enough food for an adult to eat a decent-sized lunch. I don't think many people would need the space provided by the Eco, which is the larger size with the green lid, unless you want to pack a large salad or something. So if you are looking for something that's easy to clean, eco-friendly, non-plastic, lightweight, and good-sized, these containers will do the trick. Too bad they're so pricey or I'd buy some more!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  chipping paint on painted lid, April 27, 2010
By mom (seattle)
I like the shape of the tin and it's easy to clean every night.
But the blue paint on my sons tin is about 50% gone. I find paint chips in his lunch back pack, paint chips stuck to half eaten bananas, and paint chips stuck to yogurt container. I'm sure there are a few in his tummy too. So for that reason, alone i give the LunchBot stainless steel lunch box a one star.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for snacks, June 12, 2009
By Cheryl F (Virginia, USA)
I was very tired of putting snacks in plastic sandwich bags and then throwing the bags away every day - not good for the environment. I tried plastic containers but sometimes my kids couldn't open them or close them all the way. The Duo is a great solution! I can put their daily morning snack in the container - even two different things - and they have no trouble opening and closing them. The containers are easy to clean and are tough -- even falling on the floor a number of times has not been a problem. I would highly recommend lunchbots!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Too small for sustenance, April 8, 2011
By B. Riley
Do not buy this if you are like me looking for a container to bring a decent lunch in. It could possibly hold snacks of dried fruit and nuts, but not a lunch. So the name is misleading. I probably should have returned it, but I didn't.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It's O.K. but could be better..., January 26, 2011
By Jason UuU (Concord, Ca)
I chose the Stainless Steel version apposed to the colored lid version as I will be using this product for myself (late 20's) and not being able to choose the lid color. I intend to use this container on a daily basis to replace using plastic bags.

First Impressions:
I seriously thought that this would be bigger. The stainless steel on the lower half seems to be very thin and flexes easily, making it possible to dent and/or bend. I'm also not too impressed with the center divider as it's not completely sealed around and the spot welds can be seen through the other side. There are even small cracks that can be seen. The top edges are somewhat sharp and could possibly cut a finger. The top half seems to be better made as it's thicker and has rounded edges. I haven't used the product yet as I just received it but it seems as when the container is closed there is noting really holding them together. I will see how this holds up as I get some use out of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Love my Lunchbots, October 17, 2009
By Erica Cosgrove (San Jose, CA)
My little lunchbots box is great. Smaller than I thought but big enough for my daughter's sandwich or a couple of snacks. It's solid and well-built and I love that it's dishwasher safe. The only problem is after about a month, there's a little chip out of the orange paint on the lid.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Plastic-free, reduces waste, great for portion control!, February 17, 2011
By mmr (CA)
I wanted a food container with dividers for taking snacks to work and also bringing home leftovers from restaurants where I did not want the foods to mix. The LunchBots Duo Stainless Steel Snack Container is great! I use it for snacks - nuts in one section, maybe grapes or apple wedges in the other section. Also, cheese and crackers can be kept separate until I'm ready to eat them so the crackers don't get soft. Also, this container is great for portion control if you are on a diet! I wanted to eliminate plastic from my kitchen and I also do not like the waste produced by disposable "to go" containers from restaurants. The all-stainless Duo is a great option. I think it is important to know some aspects of the all stainless Duo to help you make an informed decision- you should be aware, the Duo sections are not sealed off and will allow juices to pass to the other section. Also, the lid is not water tight. I think that is fine since I use mine for dry snacks or restaurant left-overs that I know won't spill. With this in mind, if the Duo works for you, I think you will be pleased with this container. I can imagine that parents would also find this Duo container nice for kids' lunches and snacks - who wants plastic touching the food their kids will eat, and have you seen all the huge quantities of trash produced at a school cafeterias? This container solves both problems! I am a big fan of LunchBots for these reasons! I also have the LunchBots Trio which has 3 sections and is great for snacks LunchBots Trio Stainless Steel Snack Container and the LunchBots EcoLunchBots Eco Stainless Steel Lunch Container which is great for larger portions such as sandwiches.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  These are super!, June 6, 2009
By G. Izuno (California)
I've been looking for a really good, not just okay, substitute for plastic lunch containers for my kids' lunches. The LunchBot Duo (and the LunchBot Uno) more than fulfill my requirements! They are sturdy (5 days a week for several months now), they fit little hands, they are the perfect size. What more can I say? I can put cheese in one side and crackers in the other, or apples and almonds, whatever. I have even experimented and put applesauce in one side and put the Duo container in the freezer overnight. Then the next morning I can put something that needs to stay cold in the other side (on hot days). The applesauce turns into a kind of slushy and my kids love it! These are exactly what I have been looking for!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not very versatile, October 20, 2010
By Casual Propellerhead (Burlington, VT USA)
The compartments are small. The divider is fixed in place. There is no seal around the top so wet items will leak out in a kid's lunchbox. Too small to fit half a sandwich on either side. Good idea, poor execution. Could be OK for small items like crackers or candy, that's about it.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Faulty lid, August 19, 2011
By cserhus (Cypress, TX)
I love the idea of this product because I refuse to use plastic baggies in our lunches any longer. However, we could not get the lid to remove off our duo LunchBot. I had to struggle to even get it off one single time. This purchase was intended for my 11 year old daughter and she definitely could not get the lid off on her own. Unfortunately, I had to return the item and I will search for something else similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love the Lunchbots, January 25, 2011
By H. Teague
I've used these for almost 2 years now. I originally bought them for my, then 3 year old, to take his lunch to pre-school. I have 2 unos, 2 duos, and 2 picos and they are in constant use in my house. Every day I pack my son's lunch and I love being able to pick the sizes based on what I pack for him. And, no plastic! Yes, if you pack anything "wet" it can leak to the other side so I try to stay away from those types of items. One hint though - if I pack, say watermelon, and need to put pretzels on the other side then I use a paper towel to line the pretzel side. And I pack his lunchbox so when he carries it the watermelon is situated lower than the pretzels - no problems with leaking.

Also, soon after buying these I realized that they are great for me also - I take leftovers to work, dump them in my ceramic bowl at work, and heat in the microwave without any kind of plastic concerns. People see my tins in the fridge and have to ask about them, everybody thinks they're so cool.

Another recommendation - I haven't had the paint peeling problem, just some rubbed off from 2 years of constant use. I think this is because I always hand wash the tops. The bottoms do great in the dishwasher though!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for little snacks, August 11, 2010
By Renee Shaeffer
I purchased the uno and duo containers for my toddler's snacks and couldn't be happier. I had been carting around many little sandwich bags in my purse. The duo keeps things organized and I usually use it for little sandwiches and cut up fruit or cookies. Nothing gets smashed and they have held up to dishwasher washing and toddler drumming. Very happy with these so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  PERFECT containers for my preschooler, April 29, 2010
By N. Gabrea (Mountain View, CA United States)
I love my Lunch Bots, and it's fair to say so does my son (who just turned five) when this review is written. Here are number reasons why I love them:

- they are easy to carry for small hands
- perfect portion size for my pre-schooler
- the colorful lid makes it easy for him to find his own lunch box in a crowded room with other lunch boxes
- they wash easily and well
- they seal very well, no messy drips and messy bags
- perfect for school, park adventures, trips and in home snacking that can be carried around the house with no fear of breakage

I'm ready for: a LunchBots green container that can fit both my containers at once, a small container for salad dressing, and one for water. With this type of high quality, I'd love to see a full line of splendid steel products. Oh, and I have to say, I really love that the Bots are so visually pretty.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Wonderful snack container, April 10, 2010
By Simone Rendon (CT, USA)
I am always looking for environmentally conscious choices for everyday living, and I was so excited to find these lunchboxes. We have been using them for almost a year and they have been holding up just wonderfully. I like the division which I use for half a sandwich and the other either for some fresh fruit, pretzels and the like. It cleans well also. I wish everybody would hop on the bandwagon and get one of these. We should all help out Mother Nature a little bit, and this a really great way to do it. Thanks for creating these lunchboxes!

I love the lunch bots for snacks. I bought 2 for my children, aged 3 and 5, for their lunches. It keeps the food separated so I can pack fruit on one side and cheese and crackers on the other. The stainless steel helps to keep things cold and is very easy to clean. Two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love it!, August 2, 2009
By Birdie
This is very well made and just the right size. Perfect for a fruit and snack on the other side. Stays cold in lunchbox with icepack. Looks cool. Always have other Moms commenting on it. It is a little pricier, but for the quality and durability it is worth it. I always wash by hand, though it says it is dishwasher safe. I feel so much better not wasting all the plastic snack baggies!

I have 2 of the LunchBots Uno Stainless Steel Lunch Containers and I love them! When I grab my lunch out of the fridge, my co-workers want to know what it is! They are not only safe and non-toxic, but very cool looking! I get asked about them all the time and everyone thinks they are simply amazing! They are eco friendly and don't create waste. Great for our environment. They are the perfect size and keep you from eating too much! I highly recommend them, you won't regret it!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Disappointed..., July 22, 2011
By peppermint
Considering the price of these lunch tins (and the simplicity of design...they are essentially just a metal box), they are very poorly made. I ordered two (an uno and a duo) to take my lunch to work. I wanted something that looked adult and also was made out of safe material. These seemed perfect. However, they are cheaply constructed. The tops do not fit properly, the edges are sharp, there are small dents in the sides, and the interior divider of the duo is completely crooked. The idea of these is terrific, but the execution is poor. I will be keeping them, but I would recommend shopping around for better and cheaper options before supporting this company.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  not great for a preschooler, might be fine for an adult, December 6, 2010
By Sunny Cook (Santa Monica, CA)
I purchased this looking for an eco friendly container for my 3 year old daughter's lunch. She needs to be able to open containers herself at her preschool, and this is too difficult for her. I was also dismayed to find that the inner divider does not reach to the lid, which means items can slosh from one side of the container to the other. I thought I might use one side of the container for wet items (apple slices on one side and cottage cheese on the other, or carrot sticks on one side and herbed yogurt on the other, for instance) but it is not well-suited to this purpose.

If you are an adult and want to carry small amounts of dry food, this might work for you. Those looking for lunch box products for a young child should choose something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Ok but I prefer plastic, November 21, 2009
By informednow (cleveland, oh)
These are well made enough and no doubt will hold up for a long time. However, I like to be able to see through the container-which you cannot with these. I also like to microwave my hot meals and you cannot do this with the metal containers. The divided one is rather small and you cannot remove the divider. Another minor annoyance: they also make a lot of noise banging together in the lunchbox as you walk if you do not put something between them. (I also carry cans of pop, which makes a lot of metal banging around) I know plastic has its drawbacks, but that is my personal preference.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  LOVE this! Great for my kindergartners lunch box!, September 27, 2011
By Kelly (Central Coast, CA)
I can fit this in my son's lunchbox along with a sandwich (separately). I use it for cut up fruit on one side and something like pretzels or crackers on the other and he can open it and close it on his own. I love how easy it is to clean and NO plastic!! He also has the smaller one w/ the yellow lid and we use that often too.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good but with limitations, September 26, 2011
By J. Nolan
I bought a couple of these lunch containers and overall am pleased with them, but mostly because I am trying to not use plastic. There are two issues you need to be fully aware of:

1) Can't microwave them. This isn't an issue for me because I have a workaround but for some folks this could be a deal breaker.

2) As the description says, these are not waterproof and also the divider between the sections allows liquids to move between the compartments. I won't criticize them because the description clearly states "not waterproof" but this limitation is just that... a limitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fantastic for a green/healthy minded family., September 26, 2011
By CristiMarashi
The Lunch duo is such a great idea! I love that it is stainless steel, so I don't have to worry about what kind of chemicals that the normal plastic lunch storage containers have. This product is PERFECT for my husband to carry to work as an ER nurse. He works nights and needs to carry a snack to keep him going! I also love the LunchBot Duo for my 3 kids. We are not quite to school age yet, but it is great to take to the grandparents house or on a family picnic. I will be purchasing several of these soon!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Failed attempt, September 23, 2011
By Starlight
The product idea is great but poorly executed. The spot wields on the middle divider are not sufficient. The middle divided has now completely failed and come detached. When the divider was in place its edges were sharp and have gaps around them trapping food. Also the lids are hard to remove. Please fix your design and I will buy again!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for dry snacks, September 4, 2011
By Thanks 2 God! (Kuwait)
I ordered several of the LunchBots steel containers about a year or so ago. I have the Duo, the larger size and the 3 compartment size container; while all are good, my personal preference is the Duo. I have mostly used this for my toddler daughter for lunch for school. Once I used it for my personal use. I had cucumber salad on one side and strawberries on the other. Well unfortuanley I had not noticed that the divider that separates the compartments is not sealed, so needless to say, the juice from the cumcumbers and strawberries mix. So that was when I realized that this is better for dry snack. I mostly like them because they are so cute and a perfect size for my daughter and her lunch box. Just ordered another so that I can pack both and supply her with a variety of snacks for her lunch for school/day care.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Hard to open, September 1, 2011
By M. Wei (USA)
This product may hold a lunch very well, but it is very difficult to open. I was ordering it for our six-year-old. It would be impossible for her to open on her own. If she did, I envision her grapes flying all over the place. It is very pretty. If it was stainless steel with a plastic top, I think it would work. We are returning this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great lunch container!, August 22, 2011
By smplieash (Wichita Falls, TX)
I bought this container with the intention of not using any plastic containers for my work lunches. I now have a completely reusable "green" lunch set! This container is perfect for my two portions of fruit for the day. It is just the right size to hold a number of snacks, whether it be fruit, veggies, or chips. The top is fairly easy to get off so it would be great for kid's lunches as well. Even though it is dishwasher safe, I am going to stick to handwashing mine just to keep it in the best shape. Other reviews say the paint may chip on the lid and although mine has been fine so far, I'm going to treat it right and try to keep that from happening.

I have been trying to get away from plastic. These do the trick. Just the right size for snacks. They stack and carry easily. I ordered 4 different sizes.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love my little lunch bot, July 15, 2011
By Heather Murray (Bethlehem, PA USA)
If you're looking for a lunch box to fit a traditional American lunch, this box is not for you. The sandwich, chips, apple, drink combo is not going to fit inside this compact box. However, if you pack it correctly and with thought, this hold plenty of food for a child or an adult.

I recently purchased The Just Bento Cookbook: Everyday Lunches To Go and I wanted a reusable box appropriate for making a bento in. This is the perfect container for it. The separator provides a good way to keep things in good proportion. If you want a quarter carbs, a quarter protein, and half veggies/fruit then it's easy to divide. I use silicone muffin cups to keep my flavors separate.

I've brought sushi, mini hamburgers, beef stirfry, potato salad, cheese and crackers, dumplings, fruit, egg, cucumber salad, wilted greens and many more items in this container and I've never been disappointed.

Whenever I bring my lunch itto work (which due to the ease in cleaning is most days) I get numerous compliments about how attractive and healthy my lunches are. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Stainless Steel container very useful, June 6, 2011
By M. Phillip Geissbuhler
We were looking for containers that were not plastic, but not glass which are not allowed in nursery school and light enough to carry. These were ideal. We bought 2 of these without dividers and later two with dividers. We use them every day and the seal is very good. As described, they are not for wet ingredients, but they contain everything else well. They don't explode open when jostled around in backpacks.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Difficult Getting the Lids Open, June 1, 2011
By Rick (Oakland, CA USA)
I love these things except... For the life of me I can't get the lids off. I have quite strong hands but the lids fit so snugly that they're really really difficult to get off. I have two and they're both the same way. Each day it's a struggle. Anyone else having this problem?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love my Lunchbot!, June 1, 2011
By Brittney Hall
Lunchbots Duo is my first metal bento box and it's quickly become one of my overall favorites. It's the perfect depth for a good, well-packed, and attractive bento -- deep enough to hold a good quantity of food, but shallow enough to make pretty presentation effortless -- which makes it quick and easy to pack a pleasing lunch. I wasn't sure if the fixed divider would be limiting or not, but I've found it to be a helpful feature and not limiting at all. The metal lid also fit a lot tighter than I expected. Still easy to open, and it's not intended to be leakproof (so no liquids), but the fit is snug and there's no danger of the lid popping off or flexing. And the box's shape and size makes it super convenient to just toss in a purse/bag and go.

I did have to guess at the capacity as to whether or not it would be the right volume for me (500 mL, according to my measurements, which is the perfect size for my lunch needs) since it's not listed on the packaging or website. I'm pleased to report, however, I received a prompt reply from the company that they would be adding that information to their website as a result of my and others' requests.

Now I just need to collect all the other Lunchbots....

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love Love Love our Lunchbots!, May 18, 2011
By Michael Ito
These are fabulous little lunchboxes. We have them in three sizes - blue lid (uno), orange lid (duo) and the larger green lid. The green lid is great for an adult lunch, and the blue and orange lids are more kid-sized, in my opinion. My 3 year old and 6 year old both manage fine with the lids, and love the bright colors. They are sturdy and well-made and we love knowing the kids food is not touching plastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little lunchbox, May 10, 2011
By Michael Ito
We are so happy with our LunchBots! We bought the orange-lidded Duo, the blue lid Uno and the larger green lid box, and are really pleased with all of them, they are all standing the test of time really well. If you are considering ditching plastic, these are a really good alternative. We find them sturdy, easy to clean, they don't retain food smells, the lids fit really well, and they are overall a compact, nice little box. My kids (3 and 6) can manage the lids independently, and absolutely love them. Thanks LunchBots!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little container - compartments are not leak proof from e/o, May 4, 2011
By Mel M.
As the description mentions, the lid is not leak proof. But it's also important to note that the compartments are not leak proof from each other. If you put something liquidy in one compartment, it will leak through to the other compartment eventually, depending on how liquidy it is. Not a big deal if you're using these to serve a meal that will be eaten right away. But if you are storing it in the fridge for a few hours or overnight, be careful.

It's a small thing and wouldn't stop me from buying it again. But this might be important for others to know.

Otherwise, this is a great container. It's safe, it doesn't react to different foods, it doesn't stain or retain odors, I like the size.

Also, the lid doubles as an additional plate, which has been handy for meals at home for my toddler.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Lunch Is Good, April 8, 2011
By Peter The Plumber (Metro Detroit)
These are very nice for something made in China, or as the packaging says "responsibly made in China." Whatever that means, I couldn't find anything like this domestically. The edges are rolled, so no nicks from sharp edges. All the different sizes work well, although I'm still sorting out what fits into which size. Another benefit is that fruit peels can be kept so I can put them on the compost and they don't stink up my lunchbox. The square like ones are not liquid tight, but the round ones are. I can see a lot of uses for these way past just carrying lunch!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  so far, so good, March 31, 2011
By KS (New England)
I bought this so I could pack a picnic lunch and bike to the playground or beach with my 18 month old daughter. It's perfect for a half sandwich and a snack or two snacks like cheese and grapes. My daughter holds the container herself and eats her snack right out of it. I do not think it is too sharp as others mentioned. I like that it is 100% stainless steel and can be recycled if and when it can no longer be used. It seems to be durable and is working just as I hoped. However, I did need to order a replacement because the first one arrived with a few scratches and what looked like rust on the outside. Because I want it to last a long time, I do not put the new one in the dishwasher.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love the product and feel good about using it, February 22, 2011
By ltilt
I bought this one and the Trio, so I'm leaving this review on both products because we use them similarly. I'm a huge fan of LunchBots for lots of reasons...

I have two young girls and we love to go on picnics or have snacks at the park now that the weather is nice again. The size and shape of these Lunchbots are perfect for fitting into the bottom of each of their little backpacks with a water bottle (stainless of course), sunscreen, sunglasses and playthings/books. We have fun filling them with yummy, creative, healthy snacks. One child gets the duo and one gets the trio-usually switching off. Homemade trailmix, peanut butter crackers, ricecakes, edemame, carrot sticks, berries and dried fruit, homemade sweet potato chips, oatmeal bars, etc.

Know that they aren't made for liquidy foods ... says "not water tight" on the box. They are perfect for everything else.
Tip: If I do something like cheese and crackers and want them separated until we eat them to avoid getting soggy, I stack the crackers in a silicone cupcake liners/baking cups. We have some cute flower ones, but I just ordered square ones specifically for my Lunchbots.

I also like the fact that they offer a divided/bento-like set up and it isn't plastic. I recently cleared my kitchen of most plastic containers...why risk it?? These things will last forever!

I have a few of the colored top LunchBots also, but I like the look of these very much.

I read a review that said there were sharp edges and dents. Not the case with any of mine...just wanted to say that.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well worth the money!, February 8, 2011
By shadylady
Love my Lunchbots! I have many of their containers of varying sizes and LOVE them all! They hold quite a bit and even though the lids don't snap on, I haven't had any issues with the lids coming off in my lunchbag. They wash up very well and are dishwashwer safe. They also look as nice now as the day I got them even after daily trips through the dishwasher...no paint chiping, scratching, etc. Overall, very pleased and have been back to purchase several more.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good container with a couple of problems..., February 4, 2011
By transliz
What I love:
The rectangular shape, the sleek modern shape, all SS material used, non-painted lid, light weight.
I own the Trio silver-lid container also and the divider in the Duo seems to be better made. I suppose it's easier to put in a straight divider instead of a T-bar for the Trio.

What I don't love:
1. The containers with silver lids have a rough textured inside, which is not the same shiny material as the outside. This is strange because all their painted-lid containers have the nice shiny surface on the inside.

2. They are not stackable!!! This is my main problem with all of the Lunchbots containers - I own 3 so far and use them all the time but may not buy anymore because of this. Most people need 2 containers for lunch - sandwich for one and another for sides. The raised middle on the lids make the top container slide around, making scratches on the bottom lid. This drives me absolutely crazy. I was hoping to use them tiffin-style for picnics, etc. by stacking 2 or 3 but the design doesn't allow this. The $50 Japan-made Aizawa bento containers have beautiful, stackable design, but I simply can't afford them.

3. I wish there were neoprene covers to protect the lids and to insulate the food. This may also solve my stacking problem although opening up individual covers may be a pain.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheery color! Good for kid lunchbox, January 4, 2011
By Cynm
I thought the bright colors would cheer up my daughter's lunch box and make her meal more enjoyable. She can easily open the tin. Definitely on the small side. If I packed an adult-sized lunch I would have to pack at least two of the containers with food. In fact, I use the orange one for my daughter's sandwich and the blue one for cheese chunks, fruit, etc. Both fit in her lunch box. Not a super secure lid so I use for dry goods. Overall, I like but it may not be for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Lunch to go., December 20, 2010
By FanofDMB (Seattle, WA)
Love this container. The lid is Stainless Steel! I bought 4 more to give as gifts. 1 side fits 1/2 a normal size sandwich and the other side is perfect for carrots, chips. or grapes. I replaced my glass containers for this lighter, and stronger container. This container would not hold liquid items.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Such a great idea, December 3, 2010
By RainyDay (Western WA)
I love this lunch box for my 2nd grader. I put half a sandwich on one side, and sides like crackers, fruit, veggies, etc on the other. It is just right for him. I got this because I was sick of going through so many plastic baggies. I have also noticed that since I started using this container, I pack a better variety of foods for him, and he also eats more of the lunch. It also feels good to make less trash for the world!

These containers are fantastic! I was looking for a healthier alternative rather than plastic for my kids lunches. These have been perfect! 5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cool!, November 11, 2010
By Summer Mama (NJ)
Big enough to fit a PB&J sandwich on one side and pretzels on the other. Pretzels stayed crunchy overnight in the fridge.
When I made a turkey and cheese sandwich I had to put half on each side of the container otherwise it would have been totally smashed; container is compact and takes up less space than the Gladware container I was using. I like not having to use plastic and it cleans easily (note: this is not for people who are easily irked by the sight of fingerprints.
Be on the lookout for the 4 for 3 promo also through Amazon! I will definitely order more to hold fruits and veggies.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  LunchBot still going strong, October 25, 2010
By partycity
Bought 2 of these for my girls' lunch boxes. 2 years later I still use them daily. The orange paint has mostly peeled off but the stainless steel has held up, not stained, does not absorb odors and best of all I'm not using plastic bags. The lid does a good job of keeping the separated food separated, even if one might be a little wet like fruit. Easy for my 4 year old to open themselves, though at 3 they had a little trouble and needed help from the teachers.

I would def. purchase these again.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  This one seems to be holding up!, October 24, 2010
By Deede
Its been a week since I got this from Amazon.com, and it has been in use almost everyday. I put it in the dishwasher with trepidation(!) as I had trouble with an Uno and Duo I had purchased from another retailer. The paint flaked/chipped off on those with just a few uses (more on the Uno than the Duo, and hence this second try!). I saw this on a lower price here and so far, this one is holding up pretty well. I bought the other two while out of state on vacation, and couldn't really do much.

I send it to school with my first-grader and love how easy it is to open at school. I really miss the convenience of having the Uno as well- I'll probably take the plunge on that too soon!
Its been in the dishwasher everyday now, and doing really well- I've 'inspected' the lid every single time it came out of the dishwasher. I'll update if this changes- I have my fingers crossed!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  I like this!, September 17, 2010
By ChefJenny
I have been using the LunchBots Duo Stainless Lunch Container AND the LunchBots Uno Stainless Containers for about 2 years. I like that these products are Stainless Steel and are REUSABLE. Both sizes are really nice and fit well in my son's lunchbox with room still for an icepack.

In the Uno container, I usually put a sandwich, yogurt, or a salad. The Duo container is great for veggies, fruit, pretzels, etc. The only negative is that the Duo divider does NOT touch the bottom which means something watery like watermelon will leak across to the other side and get that food soggy.

My first son used these when he was 3 and 4 years old and now my second son is using them and he's 2. The lids are very easy for little ones to open and close.

Two reasons why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars:
1. the divider can leak liquid across to the other side
2. the lid scratches and the paint can rub off (I stack them on top of each other in the lunchbox which rubs the lid)

FYI...the paint on my first set 2 years ago was defective and literally PEELED off within 2 months!! I called Amazon, they sent me a return label to send them back, and they shipped me out 2 new ones right away!! Great customer service :)

You will be happy with these containers :) They are definitely worth the price!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for preschool snack, September 6, 2010
By Happy Mommy
I bought this for my 3yo daughter's preschool snack (not lunch) because all the other stainless containers I found were simply too big for snack. This is the perfect size and I love the divider. There are no sharp bits on my container (as another reviewer mentioned) and there is no way food could get lodged under my divider (as another reviewer mentioned). My daughter can get the lid off and on by herself. For our purposes, it is perfect and I am so glad to have found it!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  My son loves them, September 3, 2010
By C. Honess (Los Angeles, USA)
We have a Duo & an Uno that I use for my son's lunch (he's almost 5). He can easily open & close both containers. In the Duo I put things like crackers, fruit, nuts, raisins, cheese etc.& in the Uno I put his sandwich/wrap/pizza/etc. wrapped up in a "Wrap & Mat" Wrap-And-Mat Food Pouch and Eating Mat I also put things like carrot sticks in with his sandwich inside the Wrap. The Wrap doubles as a place mat or a napkin. I put both of these tins in the fridge before he leaves for school then they stay nice & cool in a NY Built bag Built NYŽ Gourmet Getaway, BLACK along with a Kleen Kanteen water bottle.
I have had the containers for a few months now & have not experienced any chipping of the paint that others mentioned & I don't put mine in the dishwasher. The tins seem well made, no rough edges. I also find them very useful to take with us on outings on the weekends - they hold plenty of snacks for my 2 yr old & his older brother.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Overal a great product for your lunch bag, July 30, 2010
By I am part of the Amazon Tribe kn.. (Silicon Valley, CA USA)
These are sturdy metal containers with a tight fitting lids, however it is not to tight where it would make it difficult to remove. They are attractive and come with a fixed divider so you can put two different food items in the container. They come in different sizes so you yo should be able to find the right size.

I have two of these an orange and a yellow. I have had these for over a month and they are stacked on top of each other in the lunch bag. They have proven to be durable with no paint flaking that was mentioned in one review. My Lunchbots do not have any tack welds, therefore, no sharp edges. I sharp edges were mentioned in another review. Maybe, they changed the design. This is a good sign, the company is responding to the consumer.

PRO: Sturdy, will not leach chemicals, reusable, and recyclable, multiple sizes, lighter than glass.

CONS: Divider can not be removed or moved, small items like nuts and seeds might crossover to other side of the food divider. So some of your trail mix might start mating with your goldfish crackers.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little box, July 27, 2010
By upsydaisy (NYC USA)
I was hesitant to buy this based on the other reviewers comments but I still purchased it as I really liked the 2 compartments. I find it is fine and finished off nicely for the price paid. The edges could be considered sharp but I tried hard to see if they would cut my fingers resulting with no pain or cuts. I would be surprised if my daughter did harm herself. I love the size and it is perfect for keeping food separate in one handy container. Lid comes off with ease, yet stays on securely when closed.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for kids and adults!, June 23, 2010
By M. Montgomery (Huntsville, AL United States)
We have the LunchBots Duo and absolutely love it! It's always tricky to find a food container that has a snug fitting lid, but one that isn't so tight that my kids can't take it off. The lid on the Duo is perfect! Neither my seven year old or my two year old has any trouble with it. I use the Duo to make bento-style lunches for my kids and the divider makes it so easy to keep things separate. I've also used them as general leftover food storage in the refrigerator. When we have a dish with rice, for example, I just put the rice in one side, and the leftover main dish in the other side and my lunch is ready to go for the next day.

The LunchBots are not at all flimsy and continue to look brand new even after many trips through the dishwasher. I highly recommend these for a safe, convenient, and earth-friendly way to store your food!

By L. Jamka
Each of my kids has a duo and one with a blue lid. We have had them for almost 2 years and they have held up beautifully even with no-so-careful 3-5 year olds. We use them daily, if not multiple times a day. Love how easy it is to get the lid on and off. Extra bonus that lids are also stainless. So excited that they added a mini-duo. Customer service is excellent and they really stand by their products.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Wonderful if it was not for the paint chipping off - Updated, March 24, 2010
By M. Williamson (Washington DC, USA)
Update:
LunchBots commented on the review and asked if they could ship me new lids as they had an issue that they fixed in their lids. The new lids promptly arrived and are holding up well so far. You have got to respect a company that stands by their product like this! I will be happy to be ordering more LunchBots for next school year when my youngest joins the lunch crowd.

Old Review:
We have been using these for about 6 months for my kid's school lunches. The only problem, and for me it is fairly major, is that the paint on the tops chips off. Once the paint starts coming off you have 2 options - chip the rest off completely (difficult near the rolled edge) or live with paint chips coming off around your food. If you are like me and went to a stainless system because you were leery of all the plastic that could (possibly) be leaching in to food, the idea of your kids eating paint chips is probably not something that you will feel comfortable with...

Pro:
Nice tight lids
Construction seems sturdy

Cons
Paint chips!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  colored coating on lids peels off, March 12, 2010
By Dr. Mom (CA)
I like this product. However, after about 4 months of use, the painted coating on the lids began to peel off. It looks awful, and it is dangerous. My baby got into my daughters lunchbox, picked at the peeling paint and tried to put it in her mouth. Luckily, I noticed what she was doing and stopped her. I almost always washed by hand, but occasionally, I did put the lid in the top shelf of the dishwasher.
UPDATE: I emailed lunchbots, and they looked up my original order. They said that there was a batch of lids that did this, and they are mailing replacements to my address on file. So, 3 stars now.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great design!, March 9, 2010
By Elle (Texas)
these are a FANTASTIC design. We use them every day. As for the size, I can stuff a cut sandwich into one side & a ton of grapes into the other side (more grapes than she can eat). They fit in any standard kids lunchbox. (I also use them when we go to the park - they're great for picnics)

Found out some additional information.... it's a family owned business out of california & these containers (including the orange paint) are phthalate free, lead free, bpa free, completely safe. Good to know!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  PERFECT in all ways but one..., March 3, 2010
By Ellie (Damascus, MD)
I bought two of these - one with the divider and one without. I was worried the divider would have rough edges and be thin but that is not the case - it's very nicely made and sturdy, no danger for my preschooler there. However, my one exception is that one of these containers loses the lid quite easily. For me it's no biggie, I just slip a rubber band that I reuse over the container, problem solved, but I did want to mention it in case the folks making these are reading. :) I didn't think this was a reason to dock a star, I love these!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  love these!, October 14, 2009
By C. Obregon (Wenatchee WA USA)
I bought two dous - one for each of my girls (5 and 14) along with two unos. We love them! The dous allow them to each bring two snacks that stay fresh and do not crushed. They stack perfectly together with the uno in the lunch box, leaving enough room for a small ice packet and drink. I switched the lids so one girl has a blue set and the other has an orange set. They are tough and we wash them in the dishwasher everyday. The due is a little big in protions for my 5-year-old so I am buying her a smaller Pico. I woudl highly recommend them!!

This product is awesome. I use them mostly for my child's lunch. I am so happy to have the stainless steel as an alternative to the plastic. They seal really well and so far they have been great. I will surely order more in the future. Only thing I wish is that they had one a little smaller to put smaller lunch items in.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love love love LunchBots, September 11, 2009

They are durable and there is no plastic.
I have various sizes - my child takes 3 to school - one for sandwiches, a divided smaller one for fruit/pretzels etc and a divided larger one for break time snack/juice box.
They are so much more economical than ziplocks etc. When I put fruit in like strawberries etc, I use a small piece of paper towel which works a dream to mop any excess juice.
Love them so much

I am very pleased with my lunch bots duo and uno! These are very well made, very durable and you will feel great knowing that they are safe for yourself and your children to use! Easy to clean, dishwasher safe - no problems here! Thanks for making such a smart product! I will be ordering more soon (so my three children don't fight over these).

The quality is excellent but the size is to big for a childs lunch box.....I need a size smaller...Very pricey but I am hoping it last a while
