1.0 out of 5 stars.  Greenfield bicycle kickstand damages frame, May 12, 2007
By R. Hall
This seems to be a well-made and sturdy product, but it is not for use on aluminum or carbon frames. The clamping pressure and the small protrusions on the clamping surface will dent aluminum and damage the paint. Both happened to my bike. Damage to carbon seems even more likely. A steel frame might escape damage from clamping, but it seems likely that the paint would still be damaged.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Top quality item, August 29, 2006
By A. Starovoytov (USA)
I am very happy with my choice. It is just the right size, nicely finished with glossy black paint, installs in a minute. Usage is very convenient: it has that perfect click-into-place property: you push down on it with your forefoot and it snaps into the "stand" position. To "hide" it when you are ready to go, just hit back with your heel or simply start pedalling and it snaps back along the frame. It does the job perfectly and it feels great.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  lightweight, nice looking, sturdy, inexpensive, July 29, 2009
By Daniel S. Dunnam (Brooklyn, NY USA)
I went from bike shop to bike shop trying to find this style of kick-stand in glossy black to go on my new bike (silver would have looked stupid and that's all I could find at half a dozen bike shops). I got this one and it is great.

I have a pretty large bike since I'm pretty tall and I assumed the shorter version would be just about the right size, or perhaps only slightly too small. I went ahead and got it because it had Prime shipping as an option and was a bit cheaper... It was too long! I used a hacksaw and trimmed it about 3/4" and now it's perfect. It includes a rubber foot for the tip of the stand, so you can't tell it's been shortened.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Kickstand, August 24, 2010
By Amazonfan
Great product, great price. I only wish the full description had stated that it comes with a rubber foot. I mistakenly ordered two extra rubber feet (one for my wife; one for me) but I didn't need to because the kickstand is already equipped. The shipper of the no-longer-needed rubber feet refused to reimburse shipping costs, so I'm stuck. (The foot is an 88-cent item)
While installing the kickstand, one has to be very careful that the upper clamp doesn't interfere with the derailleur cable passing along the bottom of the frame. So far, it hasn't been a problem for me. Only way to be absolutely sure is to buy a kickstand that clamps near the rear wheel, and not near the main sprocket.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Greenfield Kickstand, August 1, 2010

I highly recommend this kickstand. The 285mm was perfect for my 17.5" frame with 26" tires - no adjustments or cutting. Plus it's made in the U.S.A.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Angle all wrong for a tall bike, December 11, 2008
By M. Ellerbrock
Don't buy this kickstand if you have a tall bike. I have a 20 inch framed 26 inch wheel bike. The angle on this stand is too slanted, it makes the bike just fall right over with the slightest touch. And as R. Hall says, it does damage the paint, but that wasn't a large concern for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  WAY too long..., May 7, 2011
By Cherish (USA)
I have a large frame so I ordered the 305 at first and it turned out to be HUGE! It was over an inch too long for my bike. So I ordered the 285 and it fits but it's just a tad too long. It holds the bike up but a bump or strong wind could knock it over with no problem. The 285 did come with a rubber foot but I can't put it on because it makes the kickstand way too long. I don't have a hacksaw to cut it down to size so I guess I will just deal. I do like the product. The black goes great with my bike. I suggest getting the 285 even if you think you might need the 305. These are both very long kickstands.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect kickstand, October 27, 2010
By Borguss
We just purchased a Diamond Back Large frame comfort bike, and this kickstand is perfect. The size was 285, and it fit the 19" Large frame like a glove. I am actually considering getting another one for my Specialized mountain bike which I have been leaning against things for a while. The black finish is great and it comes with everything you need including a rubber bottom for the stand.

Local bike shops wanted 15+ for a stand which was the ordinary silver finish, I like this black finish much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works as advertised; rubber foot is included, September 15, 2010
By Luna Perro (San Jose, CA)
I needed a kickstand for my Trek mountain bike so this model looked like a good candidate. It arrived quick (thanks to Prime), appears sturdy and well-made, and installed with ease in about 5 minutes. The kickstand is now performing the task for which it was acquired so I am quite pleased with the product.

When I purchased the kickstand, the optional rubber foot accessory came up as a "frequently purchased with..." option so I ordered that as well after checking the product picture and description to see if one was included. This was not necessary as a rubber foot is included in the kickstand package. Had I paid better attention to previous reviews I would have noticed that other buyers have done the same thing. The extra foot is less than $5 so not worth the cost of returning.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect, August 27, 2010
By Eriocaulon (United States)
I bought the 285 version and it was perfect for my Trek Valencia. It has the hardware necessary to install on just about any bike and you can hack the length if the lean is not sufficient. Already, the paint has come off where the pedal can hit it but no big deal--this thing is aluminum alloy! Love the big rubber foot on the end. And who can complain about the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good kickstand but poor customer relations, April 24, 2010
By Toad (Albuquerque NM)
I am happy with this kickstand, snaps into place, very strong, nice black color, I would suggest getting the rubber foot with it but beware-,, when I wrote to niagara cycle(twice) about being overcharged on shipping for the rubber foot( they sent it seperate and NOT with the kickstand even tho I ordered at the same time!) I received NO reply from them, I would not order from this company again even tho I have no cpmplaints about the kickstand

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great quality item - MADE IN USA!!!, June 14, 2011
By University of Mississippi - School of.. (OXFORD, MS, US)
Great quality item - very sturdy. The kickstand comes with one rubber foot, two screws, and an additional plate in case your bike doesn't have a factory made plate for a kickstand. In that case, you would use a longer screw and secure the kickstand to your frame - like a sandwich between the plate and the kickstand. My bike came with a special plate attached to the frame for the stand, so I didn't need the extra metal plate (I was replacing a broken kickstand). The item is sturdy - definitely a quality item. I purchased a smaller sized kickstand and it fit perfectly on my Next Ultra Shock and Next Shocker 26 bikes with no need for cutting. I was very pleased that this item was made in U.S.A. and I am proud that there are companies that do not outsource our products to countries like China. Very pleased with this product. The kickstand itself (without hinge) measures 285 mm. When fully extended, the distance from the place where it attaches to the bike until the end of the rubber foot is about 32 centimeters, so if you measure your bike at home, measure from the factory plate by the crank to the ground at around a 30 degree angle from vertical plane of your bike. Definitely would recommend this product to my friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Greenfield Alloy Kickstand, August 2, 2008
By Notarealreviewer Orami (USA)
This is and does and exactly what it says. It's rock-solid, and a night and day change over the cheap, thin aluminum kickstand that came with my cheap Schwinn bicycle (not that I'm not happy with the Schwinn, I got what I paid for!).

I bought one of these for myself, and the Pyramid Alloy Double Bicycle Kickstand for my wife - the double is obviously more stable than the single, but really, not by too much. This one provides enough stability for my son to get into his bicycle trailer while it's coupled to the bike, and is perfect for everyday, normal use. Doesn't get in the way of any chains or pedals, mounts cleanly and securely in the spot the old one came out of.

Strongly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesn't fit, August 6, 2011
By Carol Orchard (Ridgecrest, California USA)
The specification should give some indication of the size of bolt hole (diameter) required to fit generic bikes. The new Diamondback we just bought has a smaller diameter hole where the kickstand should fit. Frustrating.

I wish I'd read through all the reviews; if so I'd have found that a reviewer also had a Diamondback bike and it didn't fit...

It's not Greenfield's fault that they don't make a stand that fits every bike ever made but the description should give an indication of the hole diameter so people don't order an item that will never fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very nice kickstand-made in America!!!, May 23, 2011
By Mr. picky yoon (huntington, NY)
I ordered the 285mm kickstand for my new Marin bike with a 21" frame. Installation was a snap and I did not have to cut the stand down at all. The rubber tip is a very nice touch.
The kickstand has a nice action that snaps into position with a positive click.

I could not believe my eyes when I read the package and saw that it is made in the US-I try to buy American made products whenever I can. At about $17.00, it is a reasonably priced item.

I commend the company for manufacturing this product in Freeport NY and not outsourcing to China.

i have a mountain bike Motobecane DS400 26" tires. This kickstand is kinda short for this bike and I feel like the bike is going to tip over, but it does work. so I will give it 3 star rating specific to my bike.

Seems solid and well built

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy kickstand for a recumbent, March 19, 2011
By Pinoy In Iowa (West Des Moines, Iowa, USA)
* I got the 305mm for my for my 41-lbs EZ1 SX recumbent and it's holding it well. Make sure you get the right length because this is not an adjustable kickstand.

* My bike has a steel frame so I have no issues with what other reviewers with aluminum or carbon frames have experienced.

* This is NOT rear-mount.

* I've read some reviewers saying that the rubber foot was included. That's not in my case.

Greenfield is the standard for aftermarket kickstands. Well-made & well-priced. Kicker mounts on most "standard" bike frames easily & the black finish is trick. Might be a bit long out of the box for some bikes but the aluminum shaft isn't hard to trim down with a hacksaw even after installation.

I am satisfied with this kickstand. I had to cut 3/4 inch off with a hack saw to fit my bike but that was easy. The part I removed was a solid material(not a tube). It kicks in and out nicely and did not rattle.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well-Made And A Good Value, August 10, 2011
By Product Critic
It is a high quality bicycle kickstand at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately, I'd have to return it to Amazon because it does not fit my bike (Miyata 310).

The clamp (1 inch wide) is unable to fit over the very narrow space between the crank case and the rear tire.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits all bike sizes, May 21, 2011
By Valentin (San Francisco, CA)
I got 2 of these. One my 26" MB and one for my kid's 20" MB. Fits both perfectly. It is a little long for the 20" bike but removing the rubber end was enough to make it work well. Other solution will be to cut 1" off for the 20" bike but I do not have any cutting tools to do that.
Would recommend it to anybody.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Mounts on center of frame, not rear, May 7, 2011
By N. Smith (Philadelphia, PA)
Maybe I over looked the description of this product but I was looking for a kickstand that mounted on the rear of my bike frame. When I received the product, it mounted in the center of the frame (behind pedal mount). Be careful in ordering so you don't obstruct pedaling if you specifically need a rear-mounted stand. Product is very solid and provides good support mounted in the center.

As another review put it, this stand does what it's supposed to do. I would add that I haven't really given it much thought since I put it on, which means it doesn't get in my way.

I cut an inch off mine with a file. Easy enough to do and not something to be worried about.

Bought it in black. Looks nice. Comes with a rubber boot: that was not clear when purchasing. I cut it shorter for my son's 20" bike with no problems. Later purchased one more for my adult size bike. The kickstand comes with two mounting options so it will pretty much fit any bike.

Got this kickstand today to put on my Rockhopper. Nice all alloy construction. It also came with the rubber foot! So you dont have to spend extra $$$ to purchase the foot from Amzn. Mounted to the bike with no issues. Came with 2 bolt types too, short & long. "nice touch"
Pros:
Sturdy
Lightwieght
Positive "click" into place mechanism

Cons:
None

I would purchase this product again for my other bike that has the old rusty metal kickstand.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  GREAT - WILL WORK WITH DISC BRAKES, September 1, 2011
By Alive and Well (Raleigh, NC, US)
I purchased this for a MTB that had been custom built and converted to more of a commuter or hybrid. It is a new GT Karakorum Bike and it has a luggage rack that I fitted. Greenfield said "will not work with disc brakes and hung up". OK, I read a few reviews and decided to order the 305mm as this was originally a 29er and is now running 700C X 47 Michelin tires.

It works great. Here is a few tips that may be of value to others. YES, there are no instructions, but it only can go ONE way. You have the backing plate that is threaded, the front clamp that has holes for the screws and is where you mount the kick stand and the kick stand assembly. They also include two pieces of plastic tubing (split) for putting around the frame tubes to keep from marring them and also lock the clamp in place.

I put it on and it cleared the rear rotor. OK, added the plastic sleeves and that changed the geometry of the clamp and the upper section of the clamp would not work on the upper frame tube (the one that goes to the seat post clamp).

I got out my black Gorilla Tape and put ONE thickness of it on the lower clamp and the back-up plate (the other half of the clamp). I put the tape on the surfaces that contact the lower frame tube. Thus, the much thicker piece of plastic tubing is not needed and the assembly can be shifted further back and the geometry is now OK so that the upper clamp is working.

I then cut 0ne piece of Gorilla Tape approx 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" long and then another 3/4" wide X 2 (TWO)" long. If you stick these two together, you have an overlap of 1/2". NOW, make a guess as to how much tape you need for ONE complete wrap around the upper tube and and add 1/2" to that. Wrap the DOUBLE (the adhesive sides are sticking to each other) strip around the tube and use the 1/2" fla to secure it. Now you have a very THIN gripping surface for the upper tube.

If your bike is flat black or not in the best condition, then I might not even use the tape, but it will probably add enough friction to keep the clamp solid.

When you assemble the clamp and start to tighten the screws, make sure that you keep pressing UP on the bottom of the clamp to get it seated properly on the lower or horizontal tube. You do NOT want any space or gap there. Then snug down the two upper screws. Get it positioned and then put on the kick stand.

NOW, I put Red Loctite on all the bolts. Do NOT overtighten the clamp bolts. This is a cast aluminum piece. If you get it hand with a good fitting screwdriver, that is about all you need. Some folks have swapped out the 10-24 screws for socketed head cap screws so they can get MORE torque, but they run the risk of stressing the clamp and cracking or breaking it.

I plan to add four 10-24 Nylon Lock Nuts to the back of the bolts so the clamp is double nutted. That should keep it from vibrating loose. Again, do NOT overtighten the clamping screws. The Gorilla tape provides as much friction surface as the plastic tubing did and looks better.

If you do NOT have Disc Brakes on the rear, you can probably use the plastic tubing, but I would use Loctite and the locking nuts.

The 305 does not quite "lean" my 29er as much as it should, but I will ride it for a while to see if the kick stand loosens up a bit, as they usually do, before I cut off a 1/4" or so.

This is a really nice stand and works for my needs as I do not use the bike for stump jumping or hard trails.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple to install, durable, and reliable, February 2, 2012
By Sebastian (Palo Alto, CA)
I've had this for a while now. I'm 6'0", and I installed it on my Giant Boulder mountain bike several months ago. The kickstand is made of metal and the end seems to be a rubbery like material, which makes it a) not scrape the ground, b) not degrade very quickly, and c) can be cut to accommodate smaller bikes. It's a pretty standard kickstand, so it is very easy to install (just a single bolt by the pedals), though I had to borrow a wrench from my local bike store. Very useful, and an overall good investment, I'd say :)

3.0 out of 5 stars.  No Complaints, No Suprises, January 29, 2012
By RC (NoVa)
A basic kickstand, lighter than most of what I've found at Big Box stores. It does its job. Only area I'd like to see improved is some sort of rubberized liner or coating for the inner sides of the 'clamp' mechanism - would give me a bit more reassurance that it won't come loose when I kick it up. Nothing some plastic dip or cut down rubber won't take care of, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to Install, Perfect Fit, January 8, 2012
By jaz
I installed the kickstand in less than 5 minutes. Fit perfectly on my wife's road bike. No adjustment necessary. Works exactly as you would expect a kickstand to work. And it's made in the USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid Kickstand, January 3, 2012
By Hooz
This is a sturdy kickstand that does the job. There aren't any instructions with this. So, just look at the instillation like it's not rocket science (I assure you it's not). If you're having problems with your tool not fitting you can literally just point the kickstand toward the front of the bike and then swing it around until it's in place after you have hand tightened it.

You can't go wrong unless thing thing just won't fit on your bike for some reason. I put this on a Diamondback Response Sport Mountain Bike (2011 Model, 26-Inch Wheels).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Quality American-Made Product, January 2, 2012
By k. huang (Hacienda Heights, CA United States)
Bought this for a Diamondback Octane 20-inch Jr. Bike, and it fits nicely without having to cut it short. I left the rubber tip out or else the kickstand needs to be sawed off shorter. This is fine as the bike stands nicely without it. I found out I have a Greenfield kickstand for my bike of 17 years, & it still is in excellent shape. This is what quality product is. My husband, who is not very handy, was able to install this in a short time. I assume installation should not be a problem for most people.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Beware: Wrong Color Sent, December 29, 2011
By Happy Fella
Ordered what was listed as a black bike kickstand, but was sent a chrome one. Sturdy stand though, and I figured that buying a can of spray paint would be cheaper than the postage in sending it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works for a (HEAVY) motorbike!, December 18, 2011
By Mark Moss (California, USA)
Me and my friends have all made motorbikes from custom frames that we bought along with engine kits to cruise around town on weekends and down time. The engine plus the gas tank was too much for the stock kickstand that came with the frame and most of our kickstands ended up either bending or breaking in some way (Me being the first). I checked out some heavy duty kickstands (For motorcycles) but they seemed...excessive. I wanted something low profile that would simply prop up my bike. I tried the adjustable ones, they broke. I tried other brands, they bent.

This did the trick and at such an unbelievably low price! Now all of my friends are getting these when their kickstands die out. Not sure why they wait until then - they even look better than the regular kickstands! So far I've seen both silver and black and they both look great. The silver isn't stainless and flawless or anything, but that's good for me. It has a nice vibe to it.

The bike has 26" wheels and weighs over 70 pounds. The original kickstand lasted a couple weeks. This baby has lasted for a month already with no problems!!

Just a note - I didn't buy the rubber foot that you can get for these and it's worked fine thus far (It's worked on rough dirt, road, concrete, and indoor tile).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fit my 15" bike, November 25, 2011
By Thang
This kickstand is much better than the one that came with my old bicycle (the new one I bought did not come with a kickstand). Easy to install, though you'll need a tool to tighten the bolt from the outside.
It fits my 15" bike perfectly.

This is the correct length for most bikes. Not sure when you would use the other size sold. Installed in a few seconds and it's sturdy. Can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Why pay more?, October 30, 2011

I went from shop to shop looking for a black kick stand but could never find one. This kickstand is great for the price and I didn't even have to leave home.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality but may not fit, October 15, 2011
By Jon Y.
This is a heavy duty kickstand with positive movement and the construction just feels good. I also appreciate the fact that it's made in the USA. The black finish is nice looking and the design is simple and clean. However, it does not fit on my particular bike (Nashbar Hounder). There's no mount on the frame for a kickstand and there isn't enough clearance to use the top bracket and included bolt either. I'll have to try out a rear mounted kickstand. That's too bad because this really does seem like a great stand.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Kick stand, October 13, 2011
By Michael W. Noland
Good product. Delivery was slow but they had some nasty weather on the east coast so that's understandable. Note, You have to cut this stand to size with a hack saw to fit you bike but that wasn't hard to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits a 19 inch frame, good value and firmly made. Not for off-road riding., September 22, 2011
By The Magic Farmer
The installation is easy and simple, the kickstand looks really good and does its job perfectly.
Since it looks so small, I thought I might go off road cycling with it. But sadly, it kept shaking and eventually fell down. Dangerous, will avoid doing that again.
For everyday riding or on road cycling, it is really a great valued kickstand! I would recommend if not for off-road. -KA

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well-Made And A Good Value, August 10, 2011
By Consumer Advocate
It is a high quality bicycle kickstand at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately, I'd have to return it to Amazon because it does not fit my bike (Miyata 310).

The clamp (1 inch wide) is unable to fit over the very narrow space between the crank case and the rear tire.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Poorly Designed, September 8, 2011
By Tophizzal
I expected this kickstand to be great, given all of the positive reviews it has received. However, it unfortunately did not fit my bike. The kickstand itself has a thick part through which you are meant to screw it onto your bike, but its thickness in addition to the thickness of its corresponding part on my bike made it too thick for the bolt provided with my bike or the shorter bolt provided with the kickstand. I attempted to use the longer bolt, but was unable to get it securely fasted onto my bike, so it wobbled back and forth. Additionally, the "instructions" provided with it were vague and unhelpful. Maybe it is simply inappropriately designed for my specific bike, but overall I am extremely dissatisfied.

Pros:
* Seems durable
* Height easily adjustable with a hacksaw
* Good looking

Cons:
* Unhelpful instructions
* Too thick for its own bolts
* Did not fit securely on my bike
