5.0 out of 5 stars.  Gooey Cheese? No problem!, September 20, 2009
By Bob Lund (Palm Springs, CA USA)
I've been using the other Scotch-Brite pads with the green scrubbie surface for many years and Loved Them! They never scratched my pots or pans - as a matter of fact, that was the reason I started using them instead of steel wool or other abrasive pads.

But the real downside to the green Scotch-Brite pads is GOOEY CHEESE! Nothing can destroy the green Scotch-Brite pads faster than a lasagna pan or caserole dish with melted cheese in it. The cheese would heat up in the hot water I use for cleaning and would stick to the green pad - little or no way to get it out. May as well just throw it away and get another.

I gave these blue "Non-Scratch Scotch-Brite Scrub Sponges" a try.

What a surprise when I tried them on gooey cheese. These blue Scotch-Brite pads - SURPRISE - the cheese doesn't cake on to them. If some does get into the pad, it comes out by the end of the dishes.

Looks like I'm switching to these Non-Scratch pads! Thanks Scotch!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Terrible, February 14, 2010
By Gomez Addams (Los Angeles, CA)
This sponge was once very good and I used them for many years, but no longer. This sponge is designed to fall apart in about 1-2 weeks. I also believe it is made of some sort of fiber material and not really a sponge. Very similar to those heavy duty mechanics wash cloths that are meant to be used a few times and thrown away. The sponge also feels sticky as if it is composed of corn starch (similar to the biodegradable packing peanuts you often see). My solution is to by O-Cell-O no scratch scrub & wipe pads for scouring and bulk packs of inexpensive store brand sponges. These Scoth Brites cost WAY TOO MUCH! Don't be fooled by it's trendy design. This is a terrible product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good sponge, lasts fairly long, March 8, 2011
By Ali Julia (boston, mass)
I have a tried a few sponges, but keep coming back to this one. I like the that it has two sides with different surfaces. One side is rough and one side is soft, I use both various types of dish scrubbing. This sponges lasts fairly long (several months each) even though I microwave them for 1 minute periodically to sanitize them.

A studies shows that zapping sponges in the microwave kills bacteria, such as E. coli, that can cause illness. It is better than putting them in the dishwasher.

I noticed that the price on the on this product fluctuates and sometimes run a bit high. There is a nice online tool that I use to help catch a good price on Amazon, this tool is called "Online Price Alert". This tool will send you an email when the Amazon item price reaches the target price range that you specify. If you search on "online price alert" in Google it will be come up at the top. I find this tool to be very helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great but Cheaper at Costco, July 5, 2010
By green thumbs and full tummies (Chicago, IL USA)
I just came from costco and bought a 16 pack of these for $11.79. I love shopping from dentalBookshop, I love the fact that things can be much cheaper than store bought. Sometimes dentalBookshop can be more expensive than store bought, this is one of those incidents. Also sponges are supposed to be replaced often so thank goodness these things fall apart. To make you change your sponge more regularly. Great product. So gentle I use it to scrub little stains that sometimes gets my wooden floors. If not for the price this would be given 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Wonderful "Non-Scratch Scrub Sponges", October 23, 2011
By kittybaby (MO)
These sponges are great for their intended purpose; cleaning. So, I may have paid a little more than I would have at another location but I did not have to leave the comfort of my home; they were delivered to my door. Almost no effort on my part so I am happy and have no issues with this product.

Me and my George Foreman grill are both happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Looks Cleaner?, September 27, 2010
By Christopher A. Son (Fairfax, VA USA)
Honestly, I use these instead of the Green & Yellow ones because they work and look cleaner after use. Can't say much more than that since it's just a dish sponge.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid sponge, August 9, 2011
By comic artist (NY, USA, Baby!)
These are the only sponges I buy, and this 18-count pack is awesome! I give them 4 out of 5 stars because I feel like they could stand to be a bit sturdier but overall they work fantastic and last a decent amount of time!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Fall apart quickly, July 28, 2011
By P Dub (Seattle, WA USA)
I've been using these sponges for a very long time but recently they started to get stinky quicker and fall apart more quickly leaving sponge bits everywhere. Plan on tossing them after 1-3 weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Clean/sterilize your sponge in the microwave..., September 16, 2011
By Lynn
Sponges got a bad rap a few years ago because it was determined that they get lots of germs on them, and when you clean with them, you spread the germs around. Cleaning them in the microwave kills the bacteria so you don't have to keep throwing your sponges away. To clean in the microwave, rinse your sponge with clean water (don't put a dry sponge in the microwave) & microwave it for about 2 minutes. You know have a sterilized sponge. Let the sponge cool a bit before you remove it from the microwave. Once it's cool, you can use it again.

These sponges have a coarse side that I use with COOK TOP CLEAN 20 OZ Cook Top Clean Cream (20 oz) to keep my glass, smooth top range clean & shiny. I also use it with Bar Keepers FriendŽ Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ to keep my kitchen sink clean & white, and on stainless steel pans, keeping them spot free & shiny. The coarse side doesn't scratch & makes cleaning up messes a lot easier.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  The Pits, August 20, 2011
By M. Waring
I've never found these sponges to be very good, in the sense that they fall apart quickly and get very smelly, but I tolerated them because my husband kept buying multi-packs at Costco. However, this last package was the final straw. The sponges start to shred within just a few uses, and pieces come off as you are using them. Just terrible. I am throwing out the rest of the pack and buying something different.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not happy... smelly!, November 2, 2011
By D. Bradshaw (Pennsylvania)
I have been using different ScotchBrite sponges for years and years. But now they seem to be treated with something (or NOT treated) but they begin to smell immediately. Yes, I know about dipping them in chlorine, zapping in microwave, putting in dishwasher... and I do that when I need to. But, before, I could go weeks before that was necessary. Now, it takes about 2 days before they STINK! Stink to the point where after I use them my hands smell for hours, and the smell is transferred to the counter. I haven't changed my routine, but the sponges are disgusting to smell. Kind of a rubbery, musty smell, but very strong. I don't know what has changed, but I am very unhappy!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  It Ain't What It Use to Be !, October 24, 2011
By OLEWISEOWL (USA)
I use to swear by these things til you(3M) changed the design and make up of them!

I noticed a few weeks back when I needed a new package of Scotch-Brite's, something was different about the new ones. Old ones had a textured surface on the sponge side (but not no more),and then the blue scrubber seem different as well.

It does not clean ,like it use to do ! Nor does it stand up to normal use like the old ones did.

I am not going to pay for top quality and to get seconds throw away items(@#$%).

These are just junk ,fall apart and split apart within a week ,which has never happened before with me . I use to wear them out but never did they ever separate like these new ones do.

I will not be buying Scotch-Brite, I do better buying the stuff at a dollar store, lease I know what to expect.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Used to love this product, December 7, 2011
By clb (Portland, OR)
I don't know why or exactly when they changed these but there is something very different about 3M sponges now. This used to be my favorite sponge and I always kept a giant package on hand, as I like fresh sponges. Even though I change them often, this sponge falls apart and it starts almost immediately. It's not the product it used to be.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Falls Apart, April 30, 2012
By rkp1 (East Greenbush, NY, United States)
I have to agree with the other reviewers... These sponges fall apart quickly. They just don't last. In about a week of "normal" use (hand washing a few dishes, wiping down counters and cutting boards, cleaning sink, etc) the top "scrub" layer starts to come off, and the sponge layer itself starts to disintegrate, with little pieces coming off on my dishes. I mention "normal" use to mean that I'm not doing big heavy-duty scrubbing/cleaning projects with them. I mean that with average household and kitchen use, these just don't last. Maybe that's why they're being sold in a pack of 18? Because they have to be replaced so quickly?

I also agree with others that something has changed. These sponges used to be great. They were durable, and they worked. Now they fall apart with very little use.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Scrubber Sponges, April 22, 2012
By BYU_RAZORBACK
These scrubber sponges work just fine. If you have never used one before, it is a sponge on one side and on the other side it has an abrasive surface to scrape off food.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Something changed. These sponges don't last., April 17, 2012
By -VTD (Arlington, VA United States)
This was a great product but not any more. Something changed in the materials they use. The last batch started to disintegrate in a week. On average they are good for no more than 2 weeks and in the past they were good for at least 2 months. They also stopped repelling bacteria effectively. Too bad. Now I need to find a better quality sponge.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  NOT WHAT THEY USE TO BE IS RIGHT!., April 8, 2012
By P. D. Crump (Baja)
I have to agree with ALL of the other one star reviewers/users. Wish I could rate ZERO. These sponges use to be a great product, thus a great buy. I use to buy these at Costco and would try to remember to open a new sponge each month. As other reviewers have already said they fall apart quickly. I use to use them for up to or over two months and now I can not get two weeks of use out of them! Why must a manufacturer change a really good product to possibly save a few cents per unit? All they've really accomplished is producing a truly inferior product that consumers will stop buying! Scotch will not be saving money for long with this product as people will stop buying it. Does Scotch-Brite 3M think that we, the consumers, are so stupid that we will constantly replace their inferior product? I don't think so! It all comes out in the wash and I am now learly of buying other Scotch-Brite 3M Products.

This product sucks!

I say 5 stars...a sponge is a sponge...not sure what others are really complaining about. Made well and can't beat the price...less than Walmart.
