1.0 out of 5 stars.  Pictures tell the story., March 20, 2010
By David Burrell (Nevada)
I bought a 25 pack of these around two years ago at Office Depot, and the Gold Box deal that I purchased the ones I received yesterday from dentalBookshop, seemed to be a fair deal to replenish our dwindling supply, considering that dentalBookshop stated that the ""List Price"" for a box of 25 was now $65.75.

I am sorely disappointed. The pockets received yesterday are less than half the weight and thickness of my older ones and are manufactured using a different, cheaper type cardboard with no stabilizing exterior finish. These new holders are a poor imitation, or substitute, for the same quality product, Made in the USA, that I paid Home Depot $34.00 for two years ago.

Check out the picture that I submitted and compare it to the pictures of the new replacement product. These new ones are only worth, at most, far less than a dollar each.

These new folders were assembled in Mexico, most likely out of Chinese produced paper and glue. Smead may have increased their profit margin by selling this cheaper, less durable product at twice the price as the older folders, but they have lost a long time customer. The next time I buy office supplies it will be in person, at a local store so that I can inspect the product before I buy it.

This is well made, sturdy product has definitely improved with the addition of Easy Grip, making it so much easier to handle. It is a little expensive but I think the extra cost is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Best holder for large bundles of documents, October 21, 2011
By Jim Hisson (west of Chicago, USA)
Back in the day, long before electronic document storage, these Smead Expandable pocket folders were my go-to choice for projects too small for a box and too large for a Manila folder.

Smead Easy Grips are well-made of strong, quality paper. They are expandable to three-and-a-half inches, sturdy, and take a beating. And this 21st Century version has a tacky substance on the top flaps--so you can securely grip them when removing them from the filing cabinet, a once-hazardous duty when filled to the max.

Few things nowaddays have endured the passage of time. And Smead EasyGrip Pocket Expandable folders keep doing their job better and better.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy, good drop-in upgrade for regular folders, October 20, 2011
By maxvideo (Philipsburg, PA United States)
I used these in a hanging file drawer to see how they would do in place of
regular manilla folders in the green hanging holders. They are very nice.
Sturdy, well-made. The side accordian expanding areas are tough.
They fit exactly where any standard folder would, even in a hanging file holder.
However, I used them without the hanging folder around them, so that I could expand them.

They take up a bit more space than a regular folder, even when not expanded at all,
so I would recommend only using these when you have some WIDE stacks of papers that
you want to keep in one folder. They are great for that because the papers can lay
flat, instead of becoming bunched up at the bottom like a big stack does in a regular
folder. They also mix with regular folders in the same drawer very well, and I can still
read all the labels at the top of both types.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  very good although it may wear down with time, October 3, 2011
By Matthew G. Sherwin (last seen screaming at Amazon customer service)
This "easy grip" feature of this letter sized folder does indeed make it rather easy to grasp it and pull it out of a drawer in a file cabinet or off a shelf on which you store paper documents in folders such as these. This is definitely the best made part of the folder; it impressed me a lot!

One thing I did notice, however, is that with time the bottom or the sides could become worn. Therefore I don't recommend stuffing these with documents to the point where the folder is too full--the last thing you want is for one of these to break especially if you frequently pull it out of a drawer or off a shelf and then replace it.

Overall, I recommend this product. It is rather well made and I like that "easy grip" feature." Just don't overload those folders!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Well-made and the Easy Grip helps when pocket is filled, October 20, 2011
By RENAISSANCE MAN (san antonio, tx United States)
This Expansion Pocket is well-made and the Easy Grip feature actually helps to lift it from a file cabinet when it is heavy with files. I also like to use pockets when additional items are best left with related files... such as a CD or software or adapters that could be kept with an owners manual. The reinforced gusset also seems to lend durability to the pocket should you have a tendency to over-stuff it. This is a fine product for those needing expanding file pockets... whether at the office or for home records.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great folder for heavier and bulkier documents, October 15, 2011
By Eva (Midwest, USA)
I use file folders just about every day and always have a few files that are stuffed and need a stronger folder that won't break or fall apart. These pocket folders have been great for this purpose. They expand to a few inches wide, so if you're dealing with storing bulkier, heavier or generally thicker documents, these will do the job. The slightly sticky grip on the top few inches of both side of the folders make them easy to grab, even when stuffed. They fit into standard hanging file folders and file cabinets. If you overstuff them too much, the accordian ends will bow out and make it hard to fit into a hanging file and cabinet (reason for I gave them 4 rather than 5 stars). After using them for a while, they still look new and seem to be the kind of folders that will easily withstand heavy use. Overall, I'm very pleased with these folders.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The non-slip grip is the REALLY GREAT function of this folder, October 5, 2011
By Donnie Darko (Yakima, Washington)
These folders hold a lot of material and are very sturdy. When they are filled they stand up on their own instead of falling over like so many folders. The really nice feature of this folder is the non-slip top that extends across the entire top of the folder on both sides (front and back). This is so nice when you are trying to retrieve the folder from the file cabinet because the file doesn't slip from your hand. There is a lot of room on the top label line to note the file contents. I like these folders a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Built for lawyers, September 28, 2011
By John Schultz (Midwest USA)
I have been using the regular expandable folders Smead Jackets, Letter Size, Straight Cut, Reinforced Tab, 2-Inch Expansion, Manila, 50 Per Box (75560) forever and have been very happy with them. They are cheap, and the perfect capacity for my needs. These easy grips have a huge capacity and work best with 8.5x11 letters. Because of the price, durability and the large capacity they seem to be engineered with lawyers in mind. The depth of the pocket is only 6.25 inches and when the folder is full it allows you to easily bend the flaps back and browse through your files.

If your using these to organize your bills and other odd sized things they will not work well for that purpose. You would be better-off getting the organizer Smead Ultracolor Expanding Files, Letter Size, 12 Pockets, Blue (70876)

For me the inexpensive 2" manila is all I really need.
If your needs require large capacity these would be a great choice. They are well built. Nothing is tear-proof when dealing with paper products but the reinforcement band at the top of the capacity folds and the thick walls will surely outlast any folder that I currently own.

I received this product free of charge to try through the vine program.
Would I spend my own money on this? no

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Standard Issue + Plus, October 7, 2011
By Honey Bee (Tallahassee, FLA)
This Smead file is basically a standard issue expansion folder of good quality, plus it's got "grippy" material at about three inches of the top. As a heavy user of expansion folders, I was intrigued by this idea ... but I just don't see a need or use for it. Sure, it makes a folder easier to hold ... from the top, but who does that? A big folder like this is gonna get heavy, and I will grab from the sides and hold at the bottom. At this price, I just don't see what the point is. It may work if you are using steel cases to store folders, but that's not the case for average users like me. I would prefer to spend the extra dollars on colored expansion folder so that I can organize my projects and grab the right folder at a glance. In fact, I use (and prefer) this Smead product: Smead Poly 3 1/2 Inch-Expansion Letter Size Assorted Colors File Pockets 4 Pack (73500).

I may be a heavy user of folders, files, and related office products ... but this is not one of those items.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  An ordinary pocket folder with a nice twist, April 1, 2012
By PhotoGraphics (Arizona)
Starting with the bottom line, this expansion pocket folder is no different from all the others out there. It's strong and well made and looks like it will last a while.

What sets it apart are the big rubbery grippy ears at the top that let you pull the folder out of a file drawer (or lift it from your desktop for use) without having to put both hands around the entire folder. I tried lifting it with 2 fingers and it didn't slip when reasonably loaded with some papers. I think this is a cool feature and kudos to the manufacturer for thinking of it.

I've had the folders for a while and it doesn't appear that the rubbery grippy part will wear off soon.

I don't have a need for a lot of expansion pocket folders but for those applications where I do use them I can't see any reason I wouldn't standardize on Smeal Easy Grips.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Improvement to a standard office supply, December 17, 2011
By John (PHOENIX, AZ USA)
This will be a brief review because there is not a whole lot to say about a product like this. The are similar to standard expansion folders. What make them unique is that they are much easier to grip and pull out of a crowded file drawer or shelf. This is a much need improvement and I like these much more that similar product I have owned. I can recommend this highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  easy to handle, December 2, 2011
By Cee (PA)
These pocket folders are sturdy and with the Easy Grip feature at the top of the folders, they are much easier to handle than the regular pocket folders. I have a backlog of documents that need filed and these allow me to organize the papers and keep them stored safely on shelves or in cabinets. And it's easy to grab-and-go with a particular category of papers when I need them.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Practical pocket folder., November 22, 2011
By Snowbrocade (Santa Barbara, CA)
I use pocket folders a lot to stay organized and to keep the paper clutter at bay. Smead has added the feature of making the top edges sticky so that they dont slip out of your fingers when you pick them up. These are an excellent quality pocket folder. I like the sticky feature--I dont think it is essential but it is a useful feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Takes a Beating!, November 22, 2011
By Check out my website fo.. (Midwest)
I lug around paperwork for the school PTO in one of these. It gets shoved in my trunk with groceries & book bags on top. It really takes a beating without getting torn to pieces. I've used many brands when I worked in an office. Only Smead can be stuffed to the max, lugged & thrown around and STILL be in perfect shape.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love these folders (but the grip area takes a little getting used to), November 17, 2011
By M. McQueen (Kentucky)
I use quite a bit of file folders, and have used Smead folders in the past with good results. I Have had that annoying problem where you reach into the file cabinet to grab a file only to have it slip right out of your hands. So when I saw these folders I figured I would give them a shot. They are just as good as their previous folders, and they have this addition of an "easy grip" surface near the top that is designed to make the folder easier to grab.

It does work, but it takes some getting used to. Initially, every time I reached for one of these files my instinct was to think I'd touched something sticky. But the surface doesn't feel sticky to the touch, the folders don't stick to one another or any other folder types in the cabinet, and it doesn't leave any kind of sticky feel on your hands. I've since gotten over my initial reaction and I woudl recommend these files to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Handy pocket is durable and roomy, November 12, 2011
By Jennifer Ray (Nashville, TN United States)
I went house-hunting in October, and carried an ever-growing stack of print-outs of house rentals, scribbled notes, and more with me everywhere I went. The Smead Easy Grip Pocket - Letter, 3.5-Inch Expansion, Redrope came in very handy during this time, allowing me to slip items into the pocket easily without them sliding out the sides like they did with the manila folder I used previously.

Actually, I didn't get rid of the manila file folder altogether - it fit perfectly inside the Smead pocket and helped keep things organized.

The pocket is durable and has a good bit of space to hold plenty of documents.

The Smead Easy Grip Pocket - Letter, 3.5-Inch Expansion, Redrope is a great way to organize all sorts of papers and small booklets.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid and secure, November 12, 2011
By Patrick Oden (San Dimas, CA United States)
I'm a PhD Student who has amassed a lot of copied articles, papers, and assorted other documents that are filling, and overfilling, drawers, and generally just entirely out of order. I was wanting a way to organize my material and so thought these might be helpful.

They are. Basically the picture says everything. These folders are very basic, but providing good protection and order. They are easily accessible. Pretty much exactly the size to fit 8.5x11 papers, with very little room for anything bigger, but not too tight that papers are stuck inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for storage of important documents., October 30, 2011
By JK8 (Salem, NJ)
This is a nice folder to use because it is easy to keep your important documents in these and it is portable so you can ultimately replace it in the safe. I have my deed to the house and my Will and everything like that all stored in one place (the safe is made to withstand the house catching fire). Now I need a second one of these for my IDs and passport.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice and solid, October 27, 2011
By feysidhe (Mount Kisco, NY USA)
This is very nice and tough for those situations where you want to keep papers safe. The only caveat is that the sticky grip on the side tends to attract dust, etc, so it's better for a stack of papers you want to close up and file away than it is as a keeper for papers you want to have open on a shelf where you can rifle through them, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great pocket folders, October 27, 2011
By Mystery reviewer (Lynchburg, VA USA)
Very durable and will hold a lot. They expand to accommodate the growth of your files. The fact that they will stand up helps keep your papers from falling all over the place. I highly recommend this for students, small businesses, and anyone who has to keep track of any type of paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good for home or office, October 23, 2011
By K. Baker (LEVITTOWN, PA, US)
Sizable folders that are tough enough to hold a lot of files on a shelf or in a file cabinet. Easy to use, grip and very sturdy. These folders stand on their own so they work in a hanging file cabinet too, but without the hangers of course (one less thing to break). Only thing missing are tabs for labeling them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very sturdy., October 20, 2011
By R. Smith (Crown Point, IN)
I have been using Smead pocket expansion redropes for almost 30 years. Unlike some of the cheaper brands, these last and last. I am a forensic engineer who uses these to set up case files, and when a case is over, I can easily re-label and use it again. In the long run, these are cheaper to use than the brands that are less durable.

They are great for categorizing your documents and literature, and standard 8.5 x 11 sheets easily fit inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nothing Wrong Here, October 20, 2011
By S. Potter
No downside to these pockets. I usually use them as brief case replacements when I go to court. My Toshiba netbook, a pad, a few files, and a couple of pens fit snugly. As no-frills, unpretentious briefcases I should get 6 months to a year out of each one depending on frequency of use. Of course, water exposure seriously shortens the lifespan. While I prefer legal size (and a bit more expansion), these letter pockets are more than adequate when I am not lugging legal sized files or anything to heavy or thick.

In the file cabinet, with just occasional use, they should last indefinitely. They are made of heavy weight stock and are very tear resistant.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Helpful in My Endless Battle With Clutter, October 20, 2011
By JT (San Jose, CA United States)
Like many Americans living in our bountiful society, for years I have been waging battle with CLUTTER. I've adopted these Smead folders as another tool in my arsenal. Serendipitously there are 4 folders that come in this set and I have 4 family members - I wrote each of our names on one so that each family member can throw their loose papers in there (instead of scattered all around the house). This serves as a staging area so I can figure out what to do with that stuff next - eg; toss, scan then toss, etc.

Overall, the folders seem to be good build quality and are holding up well thus far. Expandability is good - have been able to stuff lots of stuff in. Glad I have them. Overall, I give 4 stars with 1 deducted for price/value ($10 pricepoint feels better for this pack).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I never thought I'd feel this way about office supplies.., October 19, 2011
By The Happy Aspie (SW Florida, USA)
I have been on an epic journey of sorting through piles of paper, scanning them in, and saving some as hard copy/backups. I have most things in a searchable and computerized "filing cabinet", but that still left the hard copies needing space in our office's filing cabinet. Enter Smead Easy Grips. The pack of 4 was just right for me. I wound up using two letter pockets for archival of my personal medical files, divided by date, one for my son's school documents, and one to corral the few manuals we don't have digitally.
The 3.5 inch expansion is just right for me. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and wrists, and not much strength. 3.5 inches of packed paper is just about my max. Thankfully, due to the "easy grip" finish on the tops of the pockets, I don't have to worry about gripping them very hard, as they keep from slipping without exhausting all of my strength and energy. The "easy grip" stuff feels like a rubbery, sort of "adhesive on the back of a sticky note" feel to it. These stand up well in my packed filing cabinet, and in case of emergency, I can easily grab the crucial "groups" of files and go. So far, these seem pretty durable. That being said, they seem to be well reinforced (especially compared to traditional hanging folders or 1/3 or 1/5 cut non-hanging folders) though I'm not planning on accessing these frequently, I do trust that they will carry the weighty paper without sagging (they sit right on the floor of the filing cabinet drawer) and without warping.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I'm Finding This To Be A Useful Product, October 19, 2011
By mayfayre (New Jersey USA)
I'm not using the Smead Easy Grip Pockets in a filing cabinet setting; I'm using it instead on shelves because I'm storing papers that I need quick access to in them. The expansion file style allows for a lot of storage capability. The grip strips on the top of the pockets do the job, allowing me to maintain a firm grip on the file when I move it around as needed. I imagine this would be very handy when used in a filing cabinet, especially for large files. I can't comment on the price, because this isn't a product that I normally would buy, but I do think that you get value for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Implementation But Pricey, October 18, 2011
By Bradford Schmidt (BradfordSchmidt dot com)
Obviously if you need hanging files, these aren't going to fit your needs. But if you, like I, get a lot of bills, receipts, etc that need to be quickly and easily filed then accessed as a group, these are great.

When expanded, they stand up in my filing cabinet easily and allow me to just drop purchase orders and receipts right into them with no hassle. Later, I'll go through the documents to enter them into my accounting program, and these make it easy to grab the most recent group without worrying about anything falling out the sides.

Yes, this is a function of the design of standard expanding folders, but the tall grippy section both makes it easier to drop in docs and grab the folders quickly and easily.

The only downside is cost. For about the same price as four grip-style ones, you can buy 10 traditional ones. So for me, I'll use them for those groups of regularly accessed files: printed receipts, current orders, purchase orders, recent bills. Anything I don't need to grab and review I'll just use traditional hanging or expanding folders.

Look - they're folders - they're not going to change the world. But for types of paperwork one needs to file quickly and grab easily (and often), they're perfect and worth the extra dosh.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Strong and expandable. Exactly what I wanted, October 17, 2011
By jlhelsing (Boston, MA)
We use expansion folders all the time. What we have found is you get what you pay for as it pertains to quality with this type of folder. This one is sturdy, and expands quite a bit which is exactly what we were looking for.

My only problem with this pocket is that it comes in packs of 4 and we could use packs of 25 or 50 but have been unsuccessful in finding this folder in those quantities at a reasonable cost.

Since we dont do anything with legal size documents, I have no problems with the length of this folder. Great product overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Product for Clutterbugs!, October 16, 2011
By Denise (California, NM USA)
I have to admit that when I first saw this product, I thought it was the foldover flap, accordian style expansion type from 'the old days' and was disappointed when the set of 4 arrived. Then I started putting the 4 pockets to use and will be ordering another set!

My intentions are to be neat, but I am a clutterbug with little 'neat' stacks of bills, recipes, medical reports, whatever, all over my desk, in the living room, on the kitchen counter, etc. Even paper items to be shredded are stacked neatly on the shredder......

I spent several hours prioritizing those little stacks and found these pockets to be perfect for the end result. For instance, in one of the pockets everything was medical. I put manila file folders inside it labeled prescriptions, doctor visit receipts, lab reports, etc. Now it's all together and on a shelf rather than me trying to dig items out of a box or a too full desk drawer.

Plus, the Easy Grip top is appreciated, especially for anyone with a bit of a dexterity issue. I hold a heavier paper-filled pocket with two hands - one being underneath it for support when taking it off a shelf.

It isn't an 'end-all' cure for a clutterbug like myself, but these pockets sure make keeping items separated and in order a lot easier!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good improvement on an old product, October 15, 2011
By Laurie_G (Myrtle Beach, SC)
I know that file folders are not the most exciting topic, however these are very cool. I love the grip strip at the top of each. Heavy files in a too full cabinet can be very hard to grasp. These expansion folders are very useful for those overstuffed and heavy files. I do think they need different colors or a way to label these from the top. Overall I am pleased with these and will use this brand again, preferably in a multi-color pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  stay organized, reduce stress.., October 12, 2011
By horror and sci-fi fan.. (Tuscaloosa area AL, USA)
I do a lot of group presentations in my job, so staying organized is very important to have a smooth, organized presentation.

Also with my job, there is a lot of paper to sort out- various forms, correspondence, faxes, etc.

this product help me to stay organized and keep my papers in a organized fashion, greatly simplifying the process.

This, of course, also reduces stress and possible confusion and wasted time trying to find certain forms or papers that might otherwise get lost during the work-day.

recommend this product for the busy executive, professional, or lawyer.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality red rope files, October 8, 2011
By L. Maynard (Dallas, Tx)
These are different from the standard red rope file because they have a grippy area at the top. This eliminates an annoyance I've encountered many times: red ropes that I can't grasp at the top because there's nothing to grab onto. It never occurred to me that anyone would ever solve that problem, but Smead has done it. The grippy area feels slightly sticky to the touch, but nothing comes off on your fingers -- kind of the same tactile effect as a rubber ball. Ingenious.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Handy, October 8, 2011
By Stephen T. Hopkins (Oak Park, Illinois)
There's a special delight a consumer can achieve when a product that's been around and used for a long time has a new feature that takes nothing away from the old product, and makes it just a little better. That's the delight I found when I started using these new accordian folders with a little extra grip on the outside. The folders work exactly as before, and this one extra grippy feature made them just a little better.

So yes, how much can I really say about file folders, except that I sure hope they keep me organized. I like that it's stacked up with a few folders together and can keep a lot of different papers but same project or overall stack of papers together, and I love the color and the feel of the paper. Thank you Amazon! Gonna put it to good use.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for the files you're always needing, October 5, 2011
By bronxgal (Brooklyn, NY USA)
For the files you use rarely, open-sided folders or the more traditional, all-cardboard expansion folders are fine. However, there are a few files which are frequently accessed. The luxury of being able to pull them out easily and of their staying intact, rather than needing frequent replacement, is well worth the premium price of these "Easy-Grip" expansion folders.
The front and back edges have a tacky material which makes the folders easier to grab, but isn't so tacky that they get stuck to each other in the drawer, and the edges are reinforced with sturdy material.
(The use of the word "redrope" is somewhat thoughtless, as a "red rope" folder is, to most people, an enclosed folder tied with a red rope, and a purchaser who expects that would be disappointed).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Durable and Easy to Grip, October 4, 2011
By Wise as Aphrodite, Beautiful as A.. (NY, NY)
This accordion file expands to 3.5" and has several additional helpful features. The top 2 1/2" of the front and the back of the file has been printed with a thin rubber-like substance that prevents the file from slipping from your fingers. The top edge of the "accordion" sides have been reinforced with a band of Tyvek to prevent rips and tears. It would have been nice to see the same level of reinforcement also at the bottom as this is where my accordion files usually give out first. This is a good quality product that is a few steps above the quality of a generic office product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Built to last!, October 4, 2011
By Marty Gillis (Los Angeles, CA USA)
The Smead Easy Grip Pocket redrope 4 pack has been on my wishlist for a month and I was very happy to get offered this product for evaluation.

These folders are easy to handle, constructed VERY well, totally sturdy. I doubt these will fall apart on me. Smead's much touted 'Easy Grip Pocket' is no marketing ploy. Try it for yourself, you can easily grab on to these things and lift them right out of the file cabinet, box or whenever you have stored them and they almost stick to your hand. (not actually) The side gussets (accordian thingies) are ultra well made and will reportedly stand up to much repeated use. I can definitely say they will not tear easily, if at all, unless that is your goal.

I wanted these folders to hold all my family's health insurance files, to get and stay organized. I also didn't want to have to redo anything once I had it all set up. With the Smead Easy Pocket it was really easy to get everything just where I wanted it and I have every confidence that these folders will hold up and keep working for me over the long haul. Priced at around 3.25 each or 12.99 for a 4-pack that may seem a bit pricey, but these are not cheap flimsy folders, they are quality made and are going to last me. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Folio won't slip from your grasp, October 3, 2011
By robert johnston (Los Angeles)
Folios are pretty much generic. One trait might never appear to a user ... until it does at the most inconvenient time. Generic versions are slick and slippery. This one discriminates itself from its competition with an easy-grip top made from an applied rubberoid coating at the top to insure against the forces of gravity and Murphy. A good idea ...

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Does not fit well in Sterilite drawer because, September 28, 2011
By AverageGuyShopper
the width of these folders is a little wider than a standard hanging file folder. I tested the folder in my standard metal file cabinet, in which fit fine. But when I try to put it in the Sterilite plastic bin's hanging file folder drawer, it's a little too wide and fits very snugly (the other hanging folders fit just fine This makes it just a little harder to get the folder in/out of the Sterilite drawer and then you'll be glad for the the grip top pocket. BTW, the grip top is a basically a thin coating of some rubberized material, similar to cell phone cases, that is a actually a nice innovative perk of this product. It'd be hard to drop this folder unless you have butterfingers...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love Easy Grip!, September 28, 2011
By Helen S. Lam
I have used these types of folders for large documents. Yet, once the folder is full, it is rather hard to grip due to the weight. The rubbery Easy Grip really makes a difference! It is now much easier to grip even a full folder. Since we have a bookcase and no filing cabinet, I will get more of these folders to file my documents in the book case. Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Much Better Than Standard File Folders, September 28, 2011
By Music Lover (Mesa, AZ)
I used to use regular, standard manila folders for all my filing, but once you have more than a few sheets of paper, they start bulging and are not that suitable. I love these pocket folders, not only because they expand, but because they have the ends closed. Things can't slip out like they can in a standard file folder, so you can put related small objects in the pocket too, such as keys, business cards and other items that could easily slide out of a standard folder. These have the added advantage of a strip of rubberized material on both sides of the outside at the top, making them easy to grip and pick up. That's important as these pocket folders tend to get heavier than standard file folders, due to being able to put a lot more in them. Regular pocket folders can slip out of your hand too easily. With the easy grip, this problem is minimized. What's wrong with these? The color is kind of ugly brown. Don't know if they make them in colors or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Wonderful folders, September 28, 2011
By TheTerrorBeyond (Tartarus)
These folders work perfectly for holding a good number of documents and the accordion-like design allows you to expand or contract it to the needed size. The grip on the top makes it easy to pick up with one hand without worrying about having it slip out of your hand. I haven't had these very long, but they seem like they will be pretty durable, as they are very well made.

These are highly-recommended for anyone who needs to keep documents organized and easy to access.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  slight, but important improvement, September 28, 2011
By Eric Schenk (Mill Valley, CA United States)
As an attorney, i often depend on these "redrope" (often called "red well" where i practice) file pockets to help cart several related files around to hearings or keep them organized in my filing cabinet. Perhaps i would have never quite put my finger on the problem of gripping these red wells -- as i get older and my fingers lose moisture, everything just seems harder to grip. But this new "easy grip" feature makes an important difference. I don't know if i would have appreciated what it meant, had i not had this opportunity to use some. But now, having done so, i'm sold.

I haven't had these long enough to know how well they hold up as they starting showing signs of wear and tear, but right now, i'm very appreciative of this "easy grip" feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice accordian folders, September 27, 2011
By billsrrempire (Southern Maryland, U.S.A.)
These are nice accordian-type folders similar to the ones that typically have an elastic band. They hold a substantial number of documents but not a big stack. Made of sturdy material, they should hold up to frequent handling. Two flaps fold over to secure the contents. These are the solution to numerous storage needs. I like them!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid, easy to grip, reinforced side gussets but too expensive, October 17, 2011
By Paul (SF Bay Area, CA)
These are great little expandable folders. They're called "Easy Grip" because there's a slightly tacky material on the top sides that makes them easy to pick up. They're not cheap but they're tough and easy to handle. They may be a tight fit when fully expanded so watch out. I'm glad that the side gussets are reinforced since that's one of the weak points of other expansion file folders I've tried. Overall I'm happy with these but I do wish they were a bit cheaper and I can't justify them at this price.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good folders, but a tad pricey, October 12, 2011
By Michael Smith (Mountain View, CA USA)
Nice and sturdy folders which I hope will last a long time. I use them in a small filing cabinet, sometimes in hanging folders, sometimes not -- they appear very sturdy and do have a nice grip on the top. They expand out pretty far, could in theory hold a ream of paper (but appear to be rated for 300 sheets), but I don't think the weight would be supported for very long...

Otherwise, these are generic filing folders, and for cardboard, still seem a bit expensive -- for that reason only I'm docking them one star. Color choices would be nice, but not a must have in my book. A good buy if you're looking for long lasting accordion files.
