Love all of the Spinning videos but I would have to say that this is proably my favorite of them all!!! Josh Taylor is the best instructor he is so positive and his workout is kick butt! You will sweat like never before but you will love it all the way till the end and then all day long you will feel the difference...I do recommend that you get a heart rate monitor just a cheap one works, it will help you regulate your workout,so you can tell if you need to push harder or slow it down, it has helped my workouts tons!!!

Tough and rewarding spinning workout., February 9, 2010

I thought Race Day was the hardest spinning workout, until I bought this workout. It is physically demanding, however Josh Taylor keeps it at a safe level. If you want a strong body, use these videos and you will become stronger and more healthy.

love Josh Taylor, the ath-e-lete or ath-elite, March 3, 2011

Hi - I am on the Spinning subscription so I figured I'd do a review of one of them. Josh's DVD's are the best. Mike Michael's are really good too. The others are not as good. ALSO, the ones that are tours of different cities like Orange County or Las Vegas are actually really cool too and a change of pace from watching people spin in a room.
Any and all of Josh's videos will get you the best results, with high heart rate, high intensity, calorie burn. He is good natured and he makes you really feel like you are training as an athlete. He always calls ppl ath-e-letes for some reason. But anyways, all of his videos are good and the music and the pace are good. And he never ceases to give you some new take on what could be viewed as the mundane turning of your pedals at different speeds and resistances sitting and standing. He makes it a new experience every time. And the participants in the video are engaged and they are also motivating because you can see them working their butts off. I would recommend all of his DVD's. If this one seems to be a little confusing or too much talking, there are other ones to try. I don't mind the talking too much because I could always just play music if i didn't want someone guiding me along the way. BUT that's why I recommend you get on their subscription at spinning.com because they will also send you the RIDES series which are tours through different cities in the US and they are not narrated. They play inspirational quotes, different information, show you beautiful views, etc. The music is stock or indie never-heard-before bands but they are trying their best to give you the best possible music that they don't have to pay royalties on (or at least that's my guess) but it is a nice change to the different indoor Spinning videos. They are all made by Mad Dog entertainment.
I enjoy it because i need change when it comes to spinning. It is the best (or one of the best) way to burn lots of calories (500-700 cal/hr) but sometimes it's difficult to get on the bike and ride when you know you're really not going anywhere...so I like to have the subscription because I can pick and choose which videos to do and they send me a new one every month. Not really ready or interested in venturing outdoors - not very confident in my braking ability or my uphill endurance on a real bike.

Great workout, October 23, 2010

I've taken spinning classed in the gym and was not sure how I would keep myself motivated to work at the high intensity I liked in the gym classes at home. I was nicely surprised to find this DVD pushed me to work hard and kept me motivated.

Crank It up - Appropriate Title, September 9, 2010

This is a good advanced spinning workout for those who want more of a challenging ride. This is a good 55 minute workout, just long enough to get a good workout, but short enough to be able to fit it into the morning routine.

Spinning Crank it Up: Interval Energy Zone DVD, November 3, 2010

An OK workout, but the instructor's constant commentary often had me wondering just what part of the workout we were supposed to be doing. I take fairly regular spin classes at my gym, and have never had any problems following directions in class, but at numerous points during this video I found myself wondering if I had missed something and whether we had finished an interval or were starting a new one. At least 5 minutes before the first 120-second interval, the instructor tells you you're going to do a 120-second interval. He then proceeds to talk for 5 minutes about form, intensity, etc., before telling you that you're just about ready to do your 120-second interval. I kept wondering whether I'd missed the interval or if we were already doing it. By the time we got to the actual first interval, I had increased my intensity several times in anticipation of what I thought was the upcoming interval, which was frustrating because the interval still hadn't started yet. This became less of a problem as the intervals grew closer and shorter, but then at another point during the next series of intervals, he doesn't remember to tell you to start a new interval. Other than the slightly confusing directions, I found this to be a typical pyramid-type interval workout like you would find in a spin class at a gym, but the constant 'patter' got irritating after a while. There is no doubt that you can get a good workout from this DVD,and he seems to be encouraging and inspiring, but I would have happily sacrificed some of the inspiring chat in exchange for more accurate instructions. If you don't mind lots of talking this video delivers a very respectable workout.

It's a good video, I'm glad I bought it. The instructor is a bit too chatty for my taste but very easy on the eyes :-)

There is more warm up / recovery / cool down in this workout than there is actual workout. If you've ever taken a spinning class from even an average instructor, you'll find this to be pretty soft.

What a snooze. Yes, I sweated a lot but my goodness this was the most boring cycling class I ever took. I need more than 10 minutes of plain cycling in between phases. Definitely wouldnt suggest this unless you just want to pedal with a some challenge every 10 minutes.

Spinning: Crank it up, but shut up, May 20, 2012
By annie

I read the reviews on this DVD and thought it would be a great addition. I barely got thru the first 10 minutes. Josh Taylor is way too chatty. I was looking for a workout, not a therapy session. I suppose if I have never worked out on a spin bike, all of his pointers/suggestions/instruction would have been helpful, but too much talking, not enough pedaling. I will try again to get thru the beginning, but what bothers me the most is that if I did end up liking the workout, I will always have to listen or fastforward thru the first part. All of that info, should have been placed in an instructional area (which there is one) or on another disc. It was a big mistake to include all that talking in the main workout.

I ordered this item as a Xmas gift, so I don't know if the video itself is good; however, the product came super fast and was packaged as stated - new.
