5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great water bottle, February 23, 2010
By Amy D. Milburn
I recently purchased a CamelBak stainless steel water bottle with the bite valve. I am really pleased with my purchase. I like that it is stainless steel as I had problems with plastic bottles previously. I own two plastic Nalgene bottles (both with BPA and BPA-free) and noticed the plastic began to deteriorate on the inside of both bottles. It looked like something was floating in the water but it happened on a number of occasions. My first stainless steel bottle was a Klean Kanteen with the sports cap. The KK sports cap is not very efficient with a stainless steel bottle. Due to the pressure build up in the bottle, it made a horrible noise when I drank out of it (honestly it sounded like a dolphin and it was really loud). When I contacted customer service I was told it was a regular complaint they have had. My brother-in-law suggested the Camelbak bottle and I am glad I decided to try it out. The bite valve is perfect. I wanted something that I didn't have to unscrew every time I wanted a drink and this does the job. The first day I had the bottle I was afraid it wouldn't work for me as I have a mild case of TMJ and the action of biting was making my jaw sore. However, within 48 hours I was no longer having a problem - I think I just needed to "break in" the bite valve. I would definitely recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Bottle - Tough to Clean Though, September 1, 2010
By Wuppin (USA)
The bottle is great - its sturdy and easy to drink from. The nozzle however started to build up a little bit of mildew after a month or so despite the entire bottle being disassembled, cleaned, and dried every couple of days. A little bleach and a "Q-Tip" took care of the problem but it wasn't as easy as other bottles.

I like this bottle.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Sweats a lot and straw "handle" is flimsy, July 29, 2010
By Anne V.
I've had the bottle for a month and already the handle to pull the straw up has broken. It also sweats a lot. Maybe the insulated version will be better... don't know.

UPDATE: Does not fit in my new water bottle holder for my bike.. go figure :(. I purchased the Thermos Nissan 2456P 18-Ounce Stainless-Steel Hydration Bottle to replace this and I am very pleased!!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bottle, but needs insulating cover!, July 28, 2010
By FreshOats (San Diego, CA USA)
I purchased two of these bottles and as far as functionality, they are great! My only problem is when I load up my bottle with ice, it's too cold to hold for more than a few seconds and it sweats like crazy. I currently have an absorptive pad under my bottle so that my papers on my desk don't get saturated.

I didn't want the 0.5L insulated stainless bottle for 2 reasons: 1> I got a really good deal on the 0.75L and 2> 0.5L is too small when you load it up with ice and water, you end up getting closer to .2L of actual drinkable water until the ice melts.

Having said that, I'll be purchasing the nalgene sleeve to insulate my 0.75. So for functionality, I'd give this 5 stars, but because I need to buy insulation just to hold my bottle with ice, I have to lower my 5 to a 4.

I hope you find this helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  camelbak bottles are the best, July 5, 2010
By SuzieG
I love the camelbak bottle. I take it to work everyday. I don't have to worry about spilling on my paperwork, the adult sippy cup. And its easy to carry with the clip top. Good for taking on a hike and clipping to the backpack.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great water bottle, well-designed, June 24, 2010
By Erica L. George (Cambridge, MA United States)
This is a great bottle. I had previously had Siggs, but dropped them over their lack of disclosure last year about the BPA in their lining. I was shopping for a new bottle, and decided to try Camelbak.

First I tried a smaller plastic (BPA free) Camelbak, to see how I liked the bite guard. I still use that bottle for my purse on hot days. I missed the cold-retention abilities of a metal bottle, so tried this one. It's now my main bottle. It's also the right size for a bike trip, too.

The bite guard takes a little getting used to. But it doesn't leak, and is actually the most comfortable of any of the sports tops I've used after the initial day or two of getting the hang of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Absolutely beautiful classic pattern, March 13, 2010
By Appreciative Aficionada (Cary, NC, USA)
I loved the brushed aluminum bottle with the winter silhouette. I love the bite-valve feature that doesn't leak at all. I can feel proud to carry this around. Not only is it gorgeous and has a classic look but it so much better for the environment to re-use these bottles than fill our land-fills with plastic water bottles. If you are unfamiliar with using the bite-valve, it only takes an hour or so to get used to. . . and soon, I'll warrant it will be your favorite type of bottle.
